I think it helps that there are aggregator sites that just post the links and host nothing. So if one of the sites goes down, users can quickly migrate to an alternative. Then the initial site pops back up with a new domain name.
If you didn’t have this and the site gets taken down then all those fans have a hard time finding alternatives.
Holy shit, a wild Lewis Black reference. This special was wildly influential to me as a younger guy. Glad he's still with us. He's seemed 75 years-old for the past 30 years lol
DAZNs anti VPN measures are pretty great unfortunately. I tried three different VPNs and wasn’t able to watch, and I had a legacy account made pre DAZN. I wouldn’t do it.
Same here. The shitty thing was, they charged my card for auto-renewal when they switched to DAZN last year. But I couldn't login since I wasn't in the same country I signed up in. Of course when I used a VPN to try and sign in from that country, it blocked me and said I couldn't sign in with VPN.
I filed a fraud charge on my cc to get it reversed.
I honestly can’t remember for sure. I think Brazil was always a good one. I use to use Italy or the UK. But the UK kept having issues with it being considered like “in network.”
My pre Dazn account was locked to Mexico and I tried Nord, PIA, Torguard, express, and surf shark with no luck (yes that’s more than the 3 I initially mentioned) to no luck. Maybe it was the location but it would only accept Mexico since that’s where my account was set up to.
Edit: eventually said screw it and got IPTV and never looked back.
You’d fucking think. But shit is so slow. You have to redo so much of the infrastructure. It’s been 9 years since 4K TVs were reliably on the market. Nearly a decade and I still can’t consistently watch football games in 4K….
They can absolutely afford to do it. They just have no incentive to do it. It would cut into those sweet, sweet margins, and we can't have any of that can we.
The fucking PlayStation 5 said 8K ON THE FRONT OF THE BOX at launch and it still doesn’t even have the CAPABILITY of doing that nearly 4 years into the generation. Absolutely wild. Literally just lying to the consumer.
Yeah fr I don’t even give a fuck about 8k yet. But it pisses me off I’m trying to watch the cavs game this week and fucking YouTube TV only has the broadcast in 720p max quality. Where the fuck is 1080p at the least!
I was quite about upset about getting dazn getting game pass because it made the experience a lot worse, but we still get a pretty good deal all things considered.
It's also a pretty buggy app that didn't have the option to start games from the beginning if you turned it on late, and didn't allow minimizing the app to multitask on devices. They don't respond to any feedback either. Hopefully they've made improvements this year, but the NFL game pass experience from 2 years ago was light-years better than whatever DAZN trotted out last season.
A VPN gets you access to NFL Gamepass international for around $200 a season and gives you access to every game (or at least most of them) as well as replays of past games.
Netflix is stupid.
1. Nobody watches “every” game
2. Why would you pay for a year of Peacock or ESPN+ when a month’s subscription of each will suffice? They only have one exclusive game each.
3. You can still watch the NFL for free every Sunday from noon to night.
I honestly don’t give a shit which game I watch most of the time. If there’s an NFL game on, I’ll watch it regardless of who’s playing.
Edit; goddamn y’all I get it, you don’t like watching as a neutral fan
That’s basically how everyone outside of Reddit watches it lol. Your team, the afternoon game and prime time. Then mnf. If there’s a game on you can bet at least 10M people are watching it
deadass. just fucking show up to the sports bar with your friends around 1, drink a few and eat some food until 7:30 or so. You’ve got a half hour to make it back home in time to watch SNF.
i guess i’ll just have to miss out on Jets/Vikings, Jags/Bears, and Pats/Jags.
that’s a real shame.
EDIT: they also start at like 9 a.m. here. Buffalo Wild Wings opens at 11 and real degenerates like me are already at the door by 10:55, so you get to catch the last quarter.
>1. Nobody watches “every” game
It's the same math that very rational and definitely not manchildren gamers use to complain about microtransactions.
"It would take you 900 hours to unlock every single skin."
So? Nobody actually does that.
This is stupid....
$876: Network games: Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC, ESPN
That's like half the cost, and you can get those channels for free with a small investment in an antennae.
It's still ridiculous how many streaming services you need, but it's not nearly this bad.
Whole article was written by someone who has no idea what they are talking about.
I don't even know where they are getting $876 from. Youtube TV full price is $76 a month or $380 for the full 5 months. It would include ESPN, and NFL Network, along with FOX, CBS, ABC.
Sunday ticket is only needed for out of market games, and is $450 full price, and it's on sale right now for $350. If you bundle it with Youtube TV it's $350 and right now it's $180. I don't know how they possibly got $380 maybe it's a old price?
Amazon Prime games are free on twitch.
They are paying for a whole year of peacock when the NFL season and playoffs is 5 months long, so at most $30, and they wont have games every month. Which is extra weird beacuse they only signed up for a month of Netflix.
ESPN+ had one exclusive game last year so $11
You could probally get away without a year subscription of NFL+ but I'm not positive on that without seeing the schedule.
You will need ESPN which the only way to get that is cable. The cheapest is Sling TV which is $40 a month. So $200 for 5 months.
Total: Peacock ($30) + ESPN+ ($11) + NFL Network ($40) + ESPN ($200) + Netflix ($7) = $288 most of that being ESPN. And again, you can probally get that alot cheaper.
Adding in Youtube TV and Sunday ticket would be $763 full price.
Edit: Here's the Youtube TV breakdown,
YT TV for 5 months ($365) + Sunday Ticket ($350) + Peacock (30) + Netflix ($7) + ESPN+ ($11) = $763
Thank you. I knew this was absolute bullshit when I saw it.
And worth pointing out that the most expensive thing there, ESPN, has been something that you would have to pay for if you wanted to watch every game going back to at least when I started watching football in 2001
You also don’t need a full year of NFL+. I think if you purchase it annually it is only slightly more expensive than 5 months though
NFL+ is $7 a month and a full year is $50, so you'd be spending an extra $15.
I've seen things saying 4 international games and two of them are in the same month so that would be $21.
>That's like half the cost, and you can get those channels for free with a small investment in an antennae.
That's highly dependent on where you live. I can get away with a $20 antenna off amazon, but my mom is entirely unable to get broadcast TV where she lives
You CANNOT watch **every** network game with an antennae. You’re limited to the games that are being broadcast regionally in your area.
That’s the premise of the article.
Unless something is changing this year a Prime subscription isn't required to watch TNF, it has been free on Twitch.
It is expensive if you want to watch every possible game real time however the league still offers over 1/3 of their games for free each week which is better than other leagues.
I hate Amazon, but I hope they continue to get sports rights because they have been the most consumer-friendly about it. Free on Twitch is so nice. They still get plenty of ad revenue too.
It's just a website?
I didn't know what Peacock was until I was told NFL games would be on it.
It's literally the easiest way to view an nfl game ime outside of main networks, and I've never used Twitch before for anything but those games.
I’m not saying it makes sense, I’m just saying the majority of people don’t know what twitch is. I’ve gone to twitch daily for the last ~10 years. If you aren’t a gamer, odds are you have no idea what it is.
Hey, I was JUST FINE paying $1,565 to watch the NFL, but now they want me to get NETFLIX too? This is outrageous and just too much money. I, along with the millions of other fans, was definitely paying well over a thousand dollars to watch the games, but they've taken it too far.
Cost of feeding, clothing, and housing yourself to allow you to be alive to be able watch the NFL.... the NFL is costing me over $50,000 a fucking year
Don't forget your car payment (which you need to be able to go to your job to make money to spend on the NFL) and also taxes (some of which might go to a stadium where they play NFL games)
The $900 for the over the air games + ESPN makes zero sense. That number is absolute bullshit when you can get everything except ESPN over the air and ESPN+ covers the ESPN games.
Stuff like Peacock and Netflix exclusives sucks for one off games though.
I agree it’s getting out of control but I’m not sure the math is correct here.
Why is the article including an entire year of Peacock and Amazon when it would only need to be a couple months at most? (And it only added one month of Netflix which is correct.)
And the network games can be watched for free over the air…cable isn’t necessary.
The other prices seem okay.
Yeah because of the 7$ for Netflix.
The Guardian with the clickbait and the kids here jump on.
It is $1,603 without Netflix because you "must pay" $876 for an antenna (according to that "journalist").
Fucking lol
Someone who’s not 80 years old needs to help the NFL step into the 21st century and realize that they need to give people an affordable option. No one has cable. Give me a reasonable price to watch my team play every game and I would pay. None of this blackout bullshit. None of this I can’t watch because I’m not in the right region. Just a fucking app where I can watch my team.
But till that time I will absolutely not and the NFL can continue to miss out on revenue
And no one is watching every game, and I’m sure they’re factoring in Sunday ticket that most people don’t get, not to mention most of those apps you only need a month subscription for
That’s why fans don’t feel bad pirating the games. If I need more than one streaming service to watch all my teams games I’ll pirate. Get it all on one service I’d be willing to pay about 30 a month
Dumbest article because several of the services I would have anyway regardless of the NFL. If you get Youtube TV for live TV already then the NFL is free. I get Prime for overnight shipping on just about anything so the NFL is free. I have had Netflix for years and would keep it, so the NFL costs me nothing. I get Peacock for the Premier League, so the NFL is an add-on. Any real analysis would assess the costs on people who subscribe to thos services solely for the NFL, or you should apportion the costs based on the value derived from a service based on the NFL. Sunday Ticket is the only exclusive NFL product and I can get that for $150 for the season right now.
No, I don't think I will.

The NFL will BITE into DOT COM sites that stream their games.
Also, if you like SPORTS you could SURGE to your latest CLUB Edit: I apologize, if you like SPORTS you might have the URGE to join a DOT CLUB
Or STREAM back EAST it's eazy as .XYZ
Us old guys were VIP back in the day with our old BOXes
I wonder how those sites stay up for so long. The NFL has to be aware of them.
There's literally one for every major sport. I use them regularly to watch NFL, NBA and soccer games. It's true the quality isn't as good but honestly I don't care. The NFL is so anti consumer that I'm happy to steal from them.
They get stuck buffering so much for me it drives me nuts
Time for you guys to learn about iptv. 10 a month and a firestick and you'll never look back.
god bless our canadian brothers
Most aren’t us based so the nfl doesn’t have a ton of power to go after them
I think it helps that there are aggregator sites that just post the links and host nothing. So if one of the sites goes down, users can quickly migrate to an alternative. Then the initial site pops back up with a new domain name. If you didn’t have this and the site gets taken down then all those fans have a hard time finding alternatives.
Same reason why movie and tv show sites stay up, they’re usually uploaded across the seas and there’s so many of them
I find a very good STREAM in the EAST. I also know a guy who loves METH and has some good STREAMS
You sneaky snek you
The NFL will BITE down any .COM site that does this :)
SPORTS are starting to SURGE online in the DOT COM communities.
Watch BUFF people STREAM on the DOT IO or go to watch STRFISH swim on the DOT XYZ (disable adblocker for this sea)

Yes... that's what I'm paying to watch the games... yes...
It made me sell my horse last year.
Hey. If it weren't for my horse, I wouldn't have spent that year in college!
Holy shit, a wild Lewis Black reference. This special was wildly influential to me as a younger guy. Glad he's still with us. He's seemed 75 years-old for the past 30 years lol
If you were a *roofer* and you built a *roof* and you were two feet off, you’d still be doing time

I haven't heard that bit in a while. :)
I'm just glad someone got my reference!
A man of culture. Not like that guy who built a Starbucks on the other side... OF A STARBUCKS!!
I watch games at the local bar so... I might be spending that much.
Yeah man, you might save money signing up for all the streaming services instead! Haha
Yeah, I'm totally paying.. definitely not using anything else to watch the games. Only the correct streaming services.
I too am streaming the games. From. A service.
I pay around $5 a month
Is that what VPNs cost these days? May have to sign up again.
That's what good quality IPTV services run.
Can you DM me more information about this magical $5 tv
If you get the info, could you pass it on via DM please.
Let's keep the chain going.
You don’t need a VPN to watch streams
I pay about US$150 down here in Australia for every single game in one app. Bargain!
DAZN has the entire NFL season and playoffs in every country except the US and China...
If I have a VPN, can I make an account from Europe and watch games through that?
DAZNs anti VPN measures are pretty great unfortunately. I tried three different VPNs and wasn’t able to watch, and I had a legacy account made pre DAZN. I wouldn’t do it.
Same here. The shitty thing was, they charged my card for auto-renewal when they switched to DAZN last year. But I couldn't login since I wasn't in the same country I signed up in. Of course when I used a VPN to try and sign in from that country, it blocked me and said I couldn't sign in with VPN. I filed a fraud charge on my cc to get it reversed.
Exactly the same thing happened to me. DAZN will never get a dime from me after that even if I could use their crap product.
What did they switch from last year? I am in Canada and have had DAZN for years now since it is pretty cheap for red-zone/primetime/playoffs.
Game Pass International. It worked great for me for years.
I use Nord VPN + DAZN and as long as I stay in a few specific countries didn’t have a problem all season.
I have Nord, too. Which countries?
I honestly can’t remember for sure. I think Brazil was always a good one. I use to use Italy or the UK. But the UK kept having issues with it being considered like “in network.”
I watched every Bears game with ExpressVPN and DAZN. Only restraint was I had to stream from my laptop. So I plugged an HDMI into my TV.
You know the bears have a guy for that right? A real man for the people type of dude.
That’s wild
Yeah. 720p only tho
Which is effectively what half the games are broadcasted in even in the US. At some point 4K has to become the standard…
Lol yeah why would they set the standard at 4K now when Netflix is gonna pay almost a quarter billion for rights as is
I'd be happy if amazon could make their broadcast audio not be 5 seconds behind the video about 20 mins into a game.
And mf consumer electronics companies like LG, Sony etc making 8k tvs when PC and Consoles can’t even do hardly half that resolution reliably.
Don’t put that out into the universe or they’ll bump it up again and somehow manage to make the platform worse at the same time.
Not sure how it can get worse than deleting your account but still taking your money, but I am intrigued to see them try
I'm a Raider fan and they think I'm going to pay? Look at me, look at me. I'm the captain now.
Same here. The internet is my booty matey.
so you get your booty from the internet??
Yo ho, yo ho a pirates life for me

A VPN gets you access to NFL Gamepass international for around $200 a season and gives you access to every game (or at least most of them) as well as replays of past games. Netflix is stupid.

That's some interesting math...
1. Nobody watches “every” game 2. Why would you pay for a year of Peacock or ESPN+ when a month’s subscription of each will suffice? They only have one exclusive game each. 3. You can still watch the NFL for free every Sunday from noon to night.
For #3- you can. Just not the game you may want to see.
Which has always been the case for the NFL.
Or any professional sport really.
Except for the Braves in the 90s
And the Cubs on wgn
You can watch your team and the primetimes games which is what 95% of people only want
I honestly don’t give a shit which game I watch most of the time. If there’s an NFL game on, I’ll watch it regardless of who’s playing. Edit; goddamn y’all I get it, you don’t like watching as a neutral fan

I'd love to watch my team. Too bad I don't live in their media market.
Gonna go ahead and guess that your flair might have something to do with you "settling" for the nationally broadcast game.
I just go to a sports bar and have some beers and an order of nachos or something.
deadass. just fucking show up to the sports bar with your friends around 1, drink a few and eat some food until 7:30 or so. You’ve got a half hour to make it back home in time to watch SNF.
But what about those London games that start at like 6am?

272 games. So only about $5.88 per game.

Don't forget your car payment (which you need to be able to go to your job to make money to spend on the NFL) and also taxes (some of which might go to a stadium where they play NFL games)
NFL fans in the US can choose to pay that to stream the games. Or I hear the high seas pretty calm out there these days.
Smooth sailing
If you just watch your home market games and the Sunday night game it is like 20 for an antenna. Those still work
Yeah I love my antenna and I'm 26 and don't stream
How is this true? Can't you just buy Sunday Ticket for like $300 and then $12 each for Netflix and the 3 other services?
Yup, local games are still free on mobile as well
The $900 for the over the air games + ESPN makes zero sense. That number is absolute bullshit when you can get everything except ESPN over the air and ESPN+ covers the ESPN games. Stuff like Peacock and Netflix exclusives sucks for one off games though.

I will be watching for free, thanks 🙏
Its like the NFL is ignoring the blue collar, middle class that made this league great to begin with
I mean you can still watch games for free on broadcast television every Sunday.
And no one is watching every game, and I’m sure they’re factoring in Sunday ticket that most people don’t get, not to mention most of those apps you only need a month subscription for
is that assuming you need a full year of Netflix to watch two games that take place in December?
I’ll continue to watch the games on the services I currently pay for but I’ll go sailing for whatever games aren’t available for me
I already have enough streaming apps. I’m really about to just say screw sports and abandon all these streaming apps
And here was me thinking that £160 a year here in the UK for NFL Gamepass was expensive.
Redzone is that real shit anyways
That’s why fans don’t feel bad pirating the games. If I need more than one streaming service to watch all my teams games I’ll pirate. Get it all on one service I’d be willing to pay about 30 a month
The netflix games add 7 dollars lol. What a click bait title.
But why would I pay for the annual plan for all of these services? You can pay for one month. I’m confused.
