The 2018 chargers were a great team. Rivers was pretty good that season.  Beat the chiefs at home. Handed Mahomes his first divisional loss. Rivers was ice cold that game. Went for 2 to end it in the final minute.

panthersfan87

Mike Williams’ greatest game

Beautiful-Shower9794

For some reason Mike Williams in arrowhead is a top 10 receiver

ClaudeLemieux

just like Marcus Peters against Rivers is the greatest DB of all time

SuckMyLonzoBalls

The last time I was happy as a chargers fan

TheFlyingSpaghetti77

Same lol, idk the first year with herbert was a blast tho, knew the team was ass, but watching him sling was sick as fuck

lvpr10

Not just the final minute, but with 4 seconds left. Lynn wanted to be extra sure that KC would need a massive miracle to win after that 2PC. We’d find out a few years later that 13 seconds would be too much time to let KC back in a game.

A_Livins

Man, that Wild Card game was a great end to the Chargers season that year. Weird they voluntarily elected to not play the Patriots the next week, though. Nope, that game definitely didn't happen.

Aware-Wind-3027

But why though?

rwjehs

The subreddit needed it right now

Breith37

You’ve had a decent couple months, let us have this.

Aware-Wind-3027

Eh fair enough there’s newer playoff disappointment to dwell on hopefully Derrick Henry has a few great years left

JustIn_HerButt

Yeah and let us have a few of their players, coaches, and front office.

Autobot-N

Why not

Soyeahnahh

Football

NLP19

We were oh so close to Chargering the playoff game away. I was *shocked* we held on and won lmao

ChefCurryGAWD

I went to the regular season game. I thought I had really cool seats in the end zone but you find out end zone seats are awful pretty fast.

sghead

I'd take upper-level-in-the-center any day over end zone. You have no idea if a pass is 14 yards or -2.

sdsupersean

We played 8 DB's for most of that playoff game. Absolutely nuts. Anthony Lynn wasn't the greatest coach, but that's an absolute highlight for him.

_AtLeastItsAnEthos

This was such a good team it’s so impressive that Tom Telesco was the one who built it. What’s equally impressive is how bad he managed to fuck it up the next season. The only Downfall of 2018 was a lack of a true space eating run stuffing DT and healthy linebackers. Also fuck Tom Brady for being the sole reason rivers never got a ring

hoppergym

Did he fuck it up? Gordon held out for more cash. Glad we didn’t give it to him. Pouncey okung and derwin Phillips and Ingram were all hurt.

_AtLeastItsAnEthos

He failed to resign or replace the depth down the roster. Like Darius Philon, jahleel addae, and Tyrell Williams. And due to injuries this became very important. Lost gates to retirement and failed to find any replacement for a lower string blocker or even pass catcher there. Had just an awful draft absolutely whiffing on Jerry tilery trying to chase a need rather than take the best player. Failed to provide any WR depth after Mike will and Keenan a theme throughout his tenure. And did absolutely nothing to address the offensive line either by signing or drafting good depth and when starters went down did nothing to try and help the problem. I mean to be fair he did try to draft depth on O line but outside of first round picks has never drafted anyone good. By far and away his weakest ability as a GM. Also failed to sign or draft reliable corner depth as Hayward was declining and (rightfully so due to injuries) verette was let go. Additionally the holdout with Gordon really messed up team dynamics and was handled very poorly. The offense got out to such an odd start and when Gordon finally came back it was so weird to figure out snap counts because Ekler was playing very well but you also wanted to get Gordon going again. Particularly in a must win most likely final year with rivers season coming off a playoff win you would think they would have gone more all in than they did.

_AtLeastItsAnEthos

What makes it worse is every single loss besides 1 was within 10 points and every loss but 2 coming on 1 score. 2019 should have easily been another playoff run.

TheOptimist6

The Ravens win on the road against the Chargers was sensational and made me feel very confident about the sustainability of the Lamar era in Baltimore! It’s hard to beat a team twice, and the Chargers played solid in the wildcard game! I’m glad John kept Lamar in the game and put faith in his QB! Jackson ultimately improved as the game went on but did fall short at the end! Overall, a pretty interesting two game set between the two squads! Looking forward to the next chapter featuring the Harbaughs! Go Ravens!

Nah! Just a journalist by trade 😤💯

verschee

I remember being salty about not putting Joe in to try and finish this game, but Harbaugh knew better.

edicivo

It would've been a mistake. I love Flacco, but he was cooked by that point and we needed to move into the future with Lamar even if we had to eat shit that game to do so.

verschee

Yep, this is why I drink beer and browse reddit on Sundays instead of coach football

Adaptingfate

Watching this reminds me that Casey Hayward Jr. was one of the most underrated players I've seen play.

sadtissuehappytissue

God, can we please get Herbert a defense like this?
