In college we would go to Taco Bell on Sunday nights because tacos were 49 cents each. This would have 1994-96. Of course at that time you could also get a six inch sub at Subway for $1.99 and they had the stamp cards!
Same college years here, did your area have any 24 hour ones back then? We frequently rolled through the drive through around 3am at the only 24 hour one in town, on a "study" break. We had one 24 hour Kmart then too! It was kind of an otherworldly atmosphere, shopping at 4am, but we fit right in!
I used to use red ink and crumple/weather the cards so it looked like they were fully stamped, but in poor condition or had been through the wash in the pocket of my jeans. Got so many free subs that way.
Yup, I always get a crunchwrap, beefy 5 layer burrito, cinnamon twists and a baja blast for $5. However yes, outside of deals like that, individually priced items and meals are such bullshit.
I just checked. The cheesy bean and rice burrito is still a dollar which is a great value. Unfortunately the cheese roll up is the only other $1.00 item. You can also get the spicy potato soft taco for $1.29.
It's not as old as some of the stuff talked about on here, but the 12 tacos party box used to be a deal of 12 for $10 where I was when it first came out. I bought one before I moved because I had no food in the house or dishes and it came out to $25 for 12 tacos with meat and cheese only. Fuckin ridiculous now.
The grilled stuffed burrito was the only thing I ever ate at Taco Bell until they took it off the menu. I still haven't found "my" order yet. The beefy 5-layer just doesn't hit the same.
Yeah and if you’re unlucky the roller rolls the beefy 5 layer perpendicular. So that way you get to enjoy full gobs of each layer one at a time…3 bites of straight sour cream, then 3 bites of straight beans, then 3 bites of only beef.
I was sooo disappointed when I went for the first time in a long time and they were gone. I haven't really been back since. That was my absolute go-to.
How has nobody said the Encherito! Also I remember growing up my local TB would sometimes have 25 cent taco days! The line would seriously be around the building on those days!
ENCHIRITO!!! Was scrolling to see if anyone was as old as I was lol. Damn those were SO good. In that boat with the sauce and cheese on it and black olives…I want now.
Those went out because they require a dish/plate. Extra supplies = extra cost + the environmental PR factor. It was foil when I was young, but then they went plastic. Which is a shame, because they were indeed dang good.
There was an era around mid-late 90s where they were quite cheap but the quality and variety seemed better than it is today. I miss the teal-purple Taco Bell days
The chili cheese burrito....I have to drive like 370 miles to get one because they don't have it anywhere near where I live now. It's one of my favorite reasons to visit my hometown, they've got them all over up there.
I utilized their website to find a place close to me that had it. Went there (50 miles out of my way) AND THEY DIDNT HAVE IT. Dude at drivethrough was all like, "Nah, sorry man alot of people ask for it and we dont have it." I actually went thorugh their Contact Us page and sent a submission that was kinda like WTF??!! They send me an Opps, Our Bad card with 2 free items voucher (better than nothing I guess). No mention of where near me I could find it. Since then, its been pulled from the online menu for that location and I dont trust their website worth a shit now. Pisses me off to no end, been more than 20 damn years since Ive had one and those are my favorite. Fuck.
That's so disappointing!!! I'm sorry that happened to you, I would've been pissed off too! Central Ohio is where they're at, FYI. At least, that I'm aware of, there could be other locations but if so I have no idea.
I’ll stop bitching about my 12 minute drive now that the one 5 minutes from my house closed.
[official Chili Cheese Burrito map](https://www.livingmas.com/chilicheese)
It’s so stupid too because it’s such a simple item and they have the ingredients laying around to to make it already. Just charge me an extra $1.50 for 20 cents worth of ingredients and I’ll pay every time because I’m an idiot. Idiots.
I was a huge of the double decker from the moment Shaq first promoted in the commercial when it was first introduced. Life was so much simpler then. Now I just go to Taco Casa because it’s just the original Taco Bell menu without trying to be anything else
Order a crunchy taco and then a soft taco, substitute refried beans for beef’s, no lettuce or cheese. So it’s just a soft shell with refried beans. Make it yourself. It isn’t ideal but it’s worked for me when I was really craving one.
Also this was easier to do on the app as opposed to at a drive thru
My current tbell order is a #1 supreme no tomatoes plus a side of plain beans and 2 tortillas. It’s about $11, sucks that I have to construct it myself but honestly if it’s slow, they usually ask if I’m trying to make the DD and do it for me! 50% of the time it works every time lol
Yea I’ve done it and it’s not quite the same. Order a cheesey roll up, add meat, tomato and onion. Most ppl that work there know what u want and will hook u up.
My freaking empanadas! I was so annoyed when they discontinued those, such a fantastic cheap little indulgence. Side note, they need to make their toasted cheddar chalupas a permanent addition on their menu, dang it. Those things are so fire and they keep doing their temporary runs and then they're gone again.
i miss the quesarito SO much. i ate the hell out of those things. i was honestly heartbroken when i found out they took it off the menu. the closest thing i’ve been able to find to it is their (new?) grilled cheese burrito.
that corn/bean combo and what ever sauce they were working with was top notch. my grandma knew my order by heart when i was a little guy. two sante fe gorditas.
I just knew things were fucked the first time I got a Mexican pizza and there were no green onions on it. They’re so cheap, just why? It’s such a small thing but it makes it so much better
Enchirito. For a long time it was an off-menu item that was still available if asked for but then it went away completely except for a few limited time revivals.
Spicy bean burrito. Another one that was off-menu, you'd order a bean burrito with green sauce instead of red.
Chicken Gordita Supreme actually being on the menu. Technically, you can still get it because it's the same as a chalupa, only the shell isn't fried, but half the time the employees don't understand what I'm trying to order.
I really want nothing more than for them to bring back the 3 loaded grillers. I was obsessed and when they came out you could get all 3 and a drink for 4 dollars
Grande soft taco
“a modified Soft Taco in which the portion of ground beef has been doubled and the entire unit is wrapped in another soft flour tortilla, with nacho cheese serving as a mortar between the two shells”
And that shit was on the value menu section
Beef burrito. Just a fucking beef burrito.
You can get it by ordering a bean burrito “minus the beans, add beef”… But why can’t they just have it on the menu still
So many that I loved at Taco Bell are gone. Grilled stuffed burrito, frito burrito, chili cheese burrito, and mexi melt. Chalupa is about the only thing left that I still like
When I was working at Taco Bell they released the steak and chicken flatbreads for a limited time. These were the bomb, I hope they bring them back one day. That and the $2 meal deals were insane value.
Edit: adding the $1 Crunchwrap sliders, those were bomb as well.
Baja chalupa. When the Chalupa originally came out there were three different kinds, the current one (I think it was still called Supreme) … but there was also a Santa Fe Chalupa, and a Baja Chalupa. I honestly can’t remember what was on the Baja, only that I fucking loved it. I couldn’t believe they got rid of it at the time.
Caramel Apple empanada, and beefy spicy whatever burrito. The one with hot Fritos in it that just came back for all of like 3 weeks.
Y’all are owned by the same company! Figure it out! 😭
Edit: Also, shredded chicken burrito and Verde sauce packets.
Double Decker Taco (I make all my home taco nights double deckers)
Chicken Soft Taco (not the shredded chicken)
Enchirito
Pintos & Cheese
Cinnamon Crispas (Cinnamon Twists are absolute garbage in comparison)
Carmel Apple Empanada
What I miss most about Taco Bell is the prices. Used to be cheap eats. Now a Chalupa, Crunchwrap and a couple soft tacos will cost you $15.
Absolutely correct. Me and the kiddos get Mexican taken out now instead of Taco Bell.
Same, usually.
Better food generally too, so that's a win in my book
59¢ tacos
In college we would go to Taco Bell on Sunday nights because tacos were 49 cents each. This would have 1994-96. Of course at that time you could also get a six inch sub at Subway for $1.99 and they had the stamp cards!
I remember the 69 89 and 99 cent commercial
Same college years here, did your area have any 24 hour ones back then? We frequently rolled through the drive through around 3am at the only 24 hour one in town, on a "study" break. We had one 24 hour Kmart then too! It was kind of an otherworldly atmosphere, shopping at 4am, but we fit right in!
I used to use red ink and crumple/weather the cards so it looked like they were fully stamped, but in poor condition or had been through the wash in the pocket of my jeans. Got so many free subs that way.
69 cent bean cheese and rice burrito was un fucking real
Seriously $10 was enough to feed a crew
It was a challenge to spend $20. The other day I spent $40 feeding two kids.
Those goddamn Doritos tacos get us every time. The kids go apeshit for them.
Dude...used to be for $5 you could eat like a king!
Build Your Own Cravings box is the best deal in fast food, imo.
Yup, I always get a crunchwrap, beefy 5 layer burrito, cinnamon twists and a baja blast for $5. However yes, outside of deals like that, individually priced items and meals are such bullshit.
You gotta use the app, you can get all of that plus a drink and twists for like $9 bro
Taco bell shouldn't cost as much as Chipotle
I just went there the other day — the $1-$2 value menu still exists! And some of it is great, honestly
Still exists...in theory. Nothing is at the $1 price point anymore. But that Double Decker slapped, and I'm pissed they won't sell them anymore
XL Grilled Stuffed Burrito
My high school go-to
They honestly saved my life taking it off the menu. I was eating two a day.
It started to change when they added guac, and then it was gone. Rip grilled stuffed
But actually make it XL…as advertised…not this flat pancake they try to pass burritos as now.
I was sooo disappointed when I went for the first time in a long time and they were gone. I haven't really been back since. That was my absolute go-to.
**FOOLS GOLD**
That shit is my food crack. I miss it. (shakes nervously)
I think they brought it back for a little while I see it’s gone now
Those went out because they require a dish/plate. Extra supplies = extra cost + the environmental PR factor. It was foil when I was young, but then they went plastic. Which is a shame, because they were indeed dang good.
Just commented this. The Encherito with the three olives was Peak Taco Bell.
Was coming to see if anyone mentioned the Enchirito! I miss those so much!
BRING BACK THE ENCHERITO! You’ve awakened my inner 2006 high school pallet.
Caramel apple empanada
This was the moment I realized they were gone 🫣
I forgot about that deliciousness until I saw this post lol
I had forgotten the were gone. I remember them being real random as to whether or not a location had them. It was a major bummer.
Damn those were so good.
Worst day of my life when they stopped carrying these. Nothing compares to it. So crunchy and so caramelly.
I miss the old prices. they've gone over the top.
There was an era around mid-late 90s where they were quite cheap but the quality and variety seemed better than it is today. I miss the teal-purple Taco Bell days
The cinnamon twists also used to be more cinnamony
The ones we just got today were gross. My wife and I both threw them away. And I was herbally infused so I don’t have an excuse.
Last time I got them they tasted like chemicals? Like almost like a Windex flavor. Weird
This happens more and more. I have literally said those exact words to my wife “this tastes like someone spilled windex on it”
The chili cheese burrito....I have to drive like 370 miles to get one because they don't have it anywhere near where I live now. It's one of my favorite reasons to visit my hometown, they've got them all over up there.
I utilized their website to find a place close to me that had it. Went there (50 miles out of my way) AND THEY DIDNT HAVE IT. the Chilito!
Yes, exactly!!
The chili cheese burrito. Hell yeah. I think it was originally called the Chilito. I loved that thing. It was like 79¢ if I remember correctly
Yup, by far the best burrito they ever had!
THIS. Chili cheese burrito was the best fucking thing they had and I continue to mourn it's death.
The Verde sauce packets
I always ask 😂
I miss them so much.
Yes!!! I loved their verde sauce 😭 when my taco bell told me they didn't carry it anymore I was so sad!
7 layer burrito.
Especially the veggie type.
Absolutely the Double Decker
I really thought it was coming back when I saw the picture and was so happy for .7 seconds.
Even if they brought it back it wouldn’t be the same. It would be a monster. Dorito shell and probably drenched in creamy pink sauce
It’s so stupid too because it’s such a simple item and they have the ingredients laying around to to make it already. Just charge me an extra $1.50 for 20 cents worth of ingredients and I’ll pay every time because I’m an idiot. Idiots.
No hot lettuce though
have only been to Taco Bell twice since they dropped the double decker. No freaking reason not to have it.
I was a huge of the double decker from the moment Shaq first promoted in the commercial when it was first introduced. Life was so much simpler then. Now I just go to Taco Casa because it’s just the original Taco Bell menu without trying to be anything else
I’ve tried to construct one myself multiple times. It’s just not the same. I miss these with lava sauce added. Perfect dine-in item.

Mexi-melts
If you use the app, you can still make something very close! But yeah, I loved meximelts
Yea I’ve done it and it’s not quite the same. Order a cheesey roll up, add meat, tomato and onion. Most ppl that work there know what u want and will hook u up.
My 90-91 college taste buds just woke up! BTW, I’m shocked I had to scroll down this far!
There was a taco bell by my old house that would still make mexi-melts up to sometime shortly before COVID. Those things were so good.
Haven't had one in years. They were the best. 🤤
No doubt, most unique Taco Bell item. Miss them
$1.50
My freaking empanadas! I was so annoyed when they discontinued those, such a fantastic cheap little indulgence. Side note, they need to make their toasted cheddar chalupas a permanent addition on their menu, dang it. Those things are so fire and they keep doing their temporary runs and then they're gone again.
This is so weird but you and I basically use the same language lol. I just made a comment where I used both "sidenote" and "fire"... Are you... Me?
My steak gordita supreme.
Caramel apple empanadas were such a pain to make but god they were delicious
Meximelt.
Tostada Nachos Supreme Cinnamon Crispas
What was the cinnamon crispas thing? When did they have them? I would go years without eating there so I missed whatever those were.
They were fried pieces of flour tortilla coated in cinnamon sugar. From the ‘80s.
They were so good! I liked them much better than the twists.
You're the only other person I've seen that remembers the Crispas! They were the best, yummy!!
The Quesarito.
i miss the quesarito SO much. i ate the hell out of those things. i was honestly heartbroken when i found out they took it off the menu. the closest thing i’ve been able to find to it is their (new?) grilled cheese burrito.
Fuck all that, where is the Chilito/Chili Cheese Burrito?
Santa Fe Gordita
Holy crap I’m not the only one that misses Santa Fe Gorditas! When they were available they were the only thing I would order from Taco Bell!
that corn/bean combo and what ever sauce they were working with was top notch. my grandma knew my order by heart when i was a little guy. two sante fe gorditas.
2.49 Mexican pizzas? “I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them.”
The shredded chicken burrito was my favorite. The avocado ranch was bomb!!
Baja sauce on the cheesy Gordita crunch
I used to always get Baja chalupas and I miss them so much
I just miss freaking Baja Sauce. Spicy ranch is cool…but it’s not the same
The MexiMelt!
Chilli cheese burrito
The Grilled Stuft Burrito was SO GOOD.
Enchirrito
Mexi melt, original taco salad with the huge shell, double decker, cinnamon crispas, and the original mexican pizza WITH green onions
I just knew things were fucked the first time I got a Mexican pizza and there were no green onions on it. They’re so cheap, just why? It’s such a small thing but it makes it so much better
Real life I went to Taco Bell tonight and asked for a double-decker taco. They were like nope…
Enchirito. For a long time it was an off-menu item that was still available if asked for but then it went away completely except for a few limited time revivals. Spicy bean burrito. Another one that was off-menu, you'd order a bean burrito with green sauce instead of red.
Taco Salad
The enchirito. Hands down.
Pintos and cheese for 39 cents.
The price. That’s all.
Mexi-Melt
Nachos Supreme!
grilled steak soft taco…it’s like, come on, they have every ingredient to make it still!
Always ended up with one of those on the side. No matter what else I got, I needed one of them with it.
Chicken Gordita Supreme actually being on the menu. Technically, you can still get it because it's the same as a chalupa, only the shell isn't fried, but half the time the employees don't understand what I'm trying to order.
It sucks how they’ve relegated some stuff off menu. Like Baja style Chalupas, which are my absolute favorite.
I miss how cheap it all was like 10 years ago. I could put myself into a food coma for $20
That gooey enchirito!!!
Doritos cool ranch taco
Bell Beefer
That's also what happens after you eat one.
Still blows me away that they didn’t have any better ideas for a name
Also, the chicken soft taco. I've always been weird about shredded chicken so this was my original go to!
Beans and Cheese. Tostada.
i can’t believe nobody said the volcano burrito.
I really want nothing more than for them to bring back the 3 loaded grillers. I was obsessed and when they came out you could get all 3 and a drink for 4 dollars
I just miss early late 90s/early 2000s TB in general. The prices The aesthetic I miss them double deckers tho
Bring back the Chili Cheese Burritos!!!
the .59, .79, .99 cent menu
Besides the Choco Taco? Double Decker Taco Supreme
Meximelt
Grande soft taco “a modified Soft Taco in which the portion of ground beef has been doubled and the entire unit is wrapped in another soft flour tortilla, with nacho cheese serving as a mortar between the two shells” And that shit was on the value menu section
Like everyone is saying, the prices.. just leave my 99c crispy potato taco alone
The $1 cravings menu for sure. 2 cheesy beefy burritos, an empanada, some triple layer nachos and a drink. Great meal that used to be $5 and change.
Ranchero chicken soft tacos.
Cheesy Double Beef Burrito. $1 and so filling. I'd devour like 4 of those bad boys.
Grilled stuffed burrito!!
I miss meximelts.
Miss the spicy shredded chicken from about 2005
I don't see it but Taco Light. Early '90s I believe, maybe late '80s.
Man, the light tacos were good!
The cheap one
Chili cheese burritos.
Chilli cheese burrito
Encherito
The seven layer burrito. It was so good!
chili cheese burrito. double decker is a close second.
Beef burrito. Just a fucking beef burrito. You can get it by ordering a bean burrito “minus the beans, add beef”… But why can’t they just have it on the menu still
Cinnamon Crispas.
Cheap prices. Also, the Cap'n Crunch Delights.
So many that I loved at Taco Bell are gone. Grilled stuffed burrito, frito burrito, chili cheese burrito, and mexi melt. Chalupa is about the only thing left that I still like
They had these grilled flatbread things, the chicken one was probably ten years ago. Bring that shit back.
Chili cheese burrito. Put that on my gravestone
Choco Taco
The caramel-apple empanada was thiiiiicccccc
Grilled Stuft Burrito :(
Southwest Steak Border Bowl
The shredded chicken burrito with the creamy sauce and the taco salad
Mexi fries! Can’t believe they replaced them for fiesta potatoes…
39cent taco deals.
Double decker was the best. At one point it was 79 cents.
Meximelt
No love for the quesoritos? Those were the best, RIP

Double Decker Tacos 🌮
XXL grilled stuffed burrito
Taco salad and double decker supreme taco. They need to bring those back.
The chillito aka the chili cheese burrito 😩
Bacon cheeseburger burrito. That and green onions on my nachos and Mexican pizza…those made it so much better.
Double Decker Taco!
Baja Chalupa
The Mexican Pizza. I know they brought it back, but man it used to be good, not whatever this is now, lol.
Caramel Apple empanada, and beefy spicy whatever burrito. The one with hot Fritos in it that just came back for all of like 3 weeks. Y’all are owned by the same company! Figure it out! 😭 Edit: Also, shredded chicken burrito and Verde sauce packets.
2 double decker Supremes, 1 seven layer burrito and an ice water.....nothing but memories now.....
Double decker taco!
Double decker taco and the Chili cheese burrito AKA the Chilito.
They still make a double Decker at some places if you ask for it.
Double Decker Taco (I make all my home taco nights double deckers) Chicken Soft Taco (not the shredded chicken) Enchirito Pintos & Cheese Cinnamon Crispas (Cinnamon Twists are absolute garbage in comparison) Carmel Apple Empanada
The Black Jack Taco was incredible.
