Wellspring cave is your only Drillbur encounter until after Clay, I believe. And I know he'll be fine against Lenora if his Pinwheel encounter is a timburr.

Roggenrolla may be more useful early game, especially vs Lenora, as Drilbur is very frail and can be found at any of the other cave encounters.
