I was kinda excited about the 4070 super because I need a gpu rn (sold my previous one) but once it came out it’s like meh, in my country it’s around 700-750€ (for 12GB that most definitely won’t be an issue for 1440p in two years right?). The state of nvidia makes me sad because if you want some kind of future-proofing you have two options - 4060 ti 16gb or 4070 ti super 16 gb. No in-between
This wouldn’t have been an issue if nvidia hadn’t decided to be greedy regarding the vram. It’s their fault that they had to come up with the clam shell bs and then make the customers pay because “this design is hard and requires more effort”
12gb is absolutely fine for 1440p, there is like one game rn wich wants to use more, even at low res. but we cant normalize unoptimized games. the solution to that is, that studios fix their shit, not that users buy kverkill gpu's.
The fact is that there are already several games that go right up to that 12gb and we’re not even done with this generation. I won’t be shocked if 12gb ends up with the same situation as 8gb in another year or two. Playable, but you’ll have to manage your vram. Managing your vram on a card you JUST paid $600 for is trash.
The 7800xt has 16gb of VRAM and is $100 cheaper than the 4070 Super. The 4070 Super is 5%ish faster give or take but you WILL see the performance skew to favor the 7800xt in probably a year or two. We’ve seen this time and time again. This is the same thing as the 6800 vs 3070. The 6800 is still a decent option today while the 3070 is basically a joke for games today and no one on earth should buy it.
Temp reaches mid 50s (celsius) under load in my open case. However, i did undervolt it to 73% power limit with + 1000mhz on the memory so it only consumes 160W (with no loss performance).
It is a dual fan, they're just on opposing sides. It does run a lot cooler than the zotac 4070 twin edge (low 60s) that i got to test out last week but its also louder.

My MSI 2060 Super Gaming x is still punching 144fps at 1440p reasonable gfx settings for COD and other shooters. RT off obviously, but I'll hang fire til 5000 series... Although was considering the 4070 Ti Super and still am 😂😂 No doubt will crumble and get the plastic out on the 24th if they're not scalped. Plenty 4070 supers kicking about last night when I checked though! Shipped stock has been said to be a lot less for the Ti and 4080.

Have you missed “in two years”? Now it’s fine, I agree. Two years ago 8gb was also fine
in 2 years, 1440p is still 1440p. unless more studios switch to uncompressed 8k assets and dont implement a working GC, this still wont be an issue.
Most common engine in two years will be Unreal 5. Unreal 5 uses even less VRAM than current rendering methods.

This is incorrect. There are no games currently that utilize 12 GB of VRAM.
Ratchet and Clank, TLOU2, RE4R, Avatar, and a few others. We’re not even done with this console generation yet.
