I am so happy for him because if vr headsets existed when I was his age I would of loved them.
But, with the mass amount of little kids using the quest unintended is just getting dangerous. Please make sure you know what he is playing. Also keep him away from vrchat, it may look innocent at first but just do a simple google search and you will find out quickly that kids just shouldn't play it.
Why are you guys downvotin? its an actual health risk isn't it?

Not that I want kids in VR, but FTA -
> .. with children, the long-term consequences are simply unknown.
> .. The researchers found no child experienced serious deterioration in their eyesight.
> .. in two cases their stereo-acuity – the ability to detect differences in distances – was disrupted, while another child showed a “drastic worsening” of balance immediately after finishing the VR game. **These effects were short-lived** ..
As others have said, monitor what he uses. This is a great gift, but with great power comes great responsibility yada yada..
VRchat may look friendly, but imagine it like this: a bunch of people, most in their teens or young adulthood, with **very few** restrictions on their custom avatars. This can be anywhere from a literal dick with a mouth on it, to a female avatar with 50% of their volume in her chest area.
Good games to play are: Beat Saber (which I heard he is already playing), Super Hot, job simulator, pistol whip, and I expect you to die (especially this one. Escape room type of puzzles all themed around trying NOT to die. Not graphic but is a bit scary at times)
If you EVER get a PC capable of running VR games, there are a few really good VR games as well:
**Hotdogs Horseshoes and Hand Grenades** (abbreviation is H3VR) has guns on guns on guns. Extremely realistic ballistics, fully customizable weapons, and extremely moddable game. If you worry about it being too realistic, don’t worry! All enemies in the entire game are hotdog themed!
**Ragnarock** is basically guitar hero, but you’re a Viking playing the war drums while your battalion ride throughout different environments. All songs are different variations of Rock genre.
**No Man’s Sky**. Space exploration with no ending. 18 quintillion planets to explore, with a decent main “campaign”. Thriving community with constant updates. Mass multiplayer online, with an extremely friendly player base.
Believe it or not, you can play **Minecraft: Java** in VR! Vivecraft is the name, and it’s almost fully thought out. Each version is released everytime Optifine is updated.
If he has any siblings, **Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes** is a great game to play for two or more people to play together. One person can see the bomb. Everyone else has a manual, but can’t see the bomb. You must defuse it.
Above all else, prioritize safety and have fun!
Being 13 or over is a legal requirement for having an online user account, its got nothing to do with the headset itself. Nintendo recommend ages 6 and up for their VR product.
Actually wearing a vr product can mess with a child movement receptors/they wont move the way they would want to.. ill add the study of this

Nothing in there contradicts the 13 age limit being [a legal requirement](https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/rules/rulemaking-regulatory-reform-proceedings/childrens-online-privacy-protection-rule), but I did misremember the Nintendo one, they say to [*restrict display of VR images for children 6 and under*](https://www.nintendo.com/products/detail/labo-vr-kit/).
I'm not a doctor, but as far as I could tell, nothing in that report seems to suggest there is harm coming to the children they tested or that there were any lasting effects, just that they adapted to weird flying simulations more easily than adults?
Everyone is warning of VRchat sure (NSFW content is everywhere) but with a standalone oculus quest (no pc connected) the whole experience is pretty lame. No pretty places and the largest lobby I’ve been in is like 7 people. All avatars don’t load unless manually turned on for each person and I would think many many of the NSFW avatars are viewed from a pc connected headset exclusively. (also can be banned for showing it in public rooms….)
At least he's not going to shoot his eye out.
"You'll ruin your eyes kid"
That's like a 2-for-1 reference in this case.

Oboy, another VRchat chatroom screamer, lol!

He’s a beat saber/ super hot guy. Don’t worry.
He has to be 13 and over too

Yep, and oculus themselves have already made this a requirment.
I don't use it
It has been proven that if you use the 20/20/20 rule you are safe from harm
What is that?
No more than 20hrs a day for 20 days per month until you are 20yrs of age
It means after 20 minutes of looking at a screen to look 20 feet away for 20 seconds

Looks like a new version of donnie darko
Gummo
lol. Instead of poking out an eye, we have possible decrease in vision in 50-80 years
1980-90 - don't sit too close to the TV, you'll ruin your eyes 2022....
Virtual boy LOL
50-80 years? Hopefully my climate refugee camp will have something to do for my blind ass
but poking out expensive tvs and pets is more likely.
You'll break your hand kid
Stop buying these for literal children.
I was confused why people should buy bunny suits for adults...then I realized you meant the Quest.
Bunny suits are fine
I mean... if I wad a kid it would be the only thing I want. Just like a Playstation or N64 was back in the day.
I remember I kept my N64 box for the longest time looking at all the games I didn’t have but wanted. When I got Zelda I was so excited LOO
I'm ashamed to say I spent most of my time fishing in Zelda. I was addicted to the secret lure
now load a horror game whilst the kid is distracted
is the quest for him or did you get it and he stole it?
It’s mine
Man these reddit posters getting younger and younger
First thing to do is obviously watch that movie in VR now lol
“You’ll knock your TV out!”
Make sure he puts his wrist straps on! Made a huge mistake keeping mine off
Disappointed by your lamp. ;)
all that's missing is a broken lamp. \*squints\*
It was strange how Mom managed to destroy the leg lamp after playing Beat Saber for 10 seconds.
I triple dog dare you!
All he needs now is a Scut boss level 😆
Something ain't right with that boy.
Omg rabbit raider from fortnite!
Pls tell me they r over 13
Isn't vr unsafe for children under 13?
Sadly they found out too late and this one didn't make it shortly after this picture was taken. Keep spreading the word.
Rest in peace the homie
