You don't know what you need until you're halfway through ripping out the drywall and discover how *creative* the last guy got.
There's no planning for the last guy. He's an eternal creature of mischief and chaos, leaving 6D framing in the style of old R'lyeh in his wake.
i like that he completely decorated her dream office including the stuff on her desk. it must be because he knows her so well and not that she actually designed it :’)
I know right? I scrolled down through comments and someone said it was a rechargeable light bulb. It just sounds like 10x the work for being lazy. One of my kids is addicted to these fun random lights to drape on the wall, black light strip and even a night time sound machine/light. We are hemorrhaging batteries and ive had about enough. I cant imagine plugging in some usb light bulbs on top of that.
You can get rechargeable batteries for things like that. Less battery life, but no more buying new ones. Im talking about your kids stuff, not the lights in the post
I'm developing my basement from scratch with no prior experience.
I've been to Home Depot so many fucking times the staff probably think I work there.
Walk in the door, oh hey new guy, ready to put in another solid 8 today? They're bringin in pizza for for lunch.
I'll be there!
There’s no computer! Just random bullshit on the desk! What kind of work is she supposed to be doing in there with zero equipment or materials of any kind? Journaling?
The worst part is that he painted the wall anyways, it would’ve been so easy (but more time consuming) to properly wire those lights and fix the wall after.
This was my one gripe. Now she has a drawer full of remotes to turn those on and she’ll be frustrated when she tries and they’re dead and company is coming over in 10 minutes.
I saw one yesterday of a dad making a little caravan for his daughter.
They had 3 cuts as the kiddo drives away in a slow motorized car… why lol? The cuts are the same length of time as letting the kid slowly drive away
What kind of maniac watches this and thinks it’s good editing
Too long? Each cut is less than half a second, and you still end up watching a minute and a half video that ends up looking like stop-motion because it’s cut so quickly.
That’s beyond ADHD editing.
You'd like to think that, but it's been that way since forever. More people just casually scroll and hit an up or down arrow, often without even finishing the whole thing
Most people just don't feel strongly enough to comment.
"Oh no! I did an oopsie! Aren't I *relatable* now? Smash that LIKE button - and my wife will wag her finger at me if not enough people hit the notification bell! Ho ho!"
I hate how videos like these are so formulaic that these intentional "accidents" are even a thing at all. Idk if it's supposed to be for comedic relief or what, but anytime I come across one of these videos randomly with that in there, I'm reminded why I can never finish watching them
The god awful gray and that trim that serves no purpose or framing? I kept hoping he would cover the trim with white paint or something with monochromatic contrast to match the aesthetic. But no! Ugly gray with ugly trim that adds nothing!
🤦🏻♂️
It's called box molding and it's a pretty typical home decorating style to add to an accent wall. Out of all the things to call out that's wrong with this video I'm not sure that's one of them imo. You could make the argument any trim serves no purpose other than to make the room look nicer. That's all.
If he's so rich why does he take a functional room filled with cheap crap and replace it with newer cheap crap. I don't even think it looks better when he's done. Just different.
This guy is fucking infuriating lol
Most of us Average Joes have average jobs and average lives, doing our best to keep up with the never-ending rise of the Cost of Living
Then there's this dickhead - I don't know what their sources of incomes are or if they come from money - but they must living really comfortably with a house like that, in an area like that, with resources like that.
He's got all the fucking money and time in the world to be working on projects, and then his respones to comments are "I aim to inspire"
Bro, you ain't inspiring shit lol
No monitor stands or laptop docking station, horrendous chair. No external keyboard location or spot for an external mouse. Desk in the middle of the room without power and wired internet to it means cables everywhere
Exactly what I was thinking! There’s no point to the trim. I was expecting a painting, a picture, or mirror. But nope! Lights! The rest of the trim? Just keep it the base color so you can’t even tell it’s there. 😐
The one thing design taught me is to not assume what the client wants. Dude might have an idea what she likes but if he made unilateral choices on how to redo her office, that'd start a passive-aggressive fight. As she spends more time in it, small things would start to annoy her. Picked the wrong shade of paint, the wrong chairs, the wrong desk, the wrong wall lamps.
I know what my partner likes and even if I found a pinterest board about "ideal office", I'd never risk making choices for her.
Seriously everything about that room looks cheap. Not inexpensive cheap, low quality cheap. It’s all gone fall apart in a few years and end up in a landfill.
Yeah what the fuck is her job that she needs zero computers and zero equipment/tools/materials of any kind? What kind of job uses notebooks exclusively? Like, even writers and influencers need a goddamn laptop at least!
It’s completely non-functional as a workspace and doesn’t look comfortable enough to be a hangout space. What can she even do in there?
10000000000% this is the office of a boss babe she-eo who totally owns her own company and omg corporate just did something so crazy, it’s going to drive generational wealth for all new members, join my team today HUN
The decorative mouldings could have been such a nice touch with contrast. Making them all one boring shade of grey is a crime. The wall with the moulding up pre-painted was great.
Why do these office always looks like the person does no work at all in them. I work from home. I have two monitors to actually see the shit I’m working on, a not-cute locking filing cabinet for clients’ files, a definitely comfortable but not Pinterest chair, and two bookshelves full of reference books and documents. As well as a dressed full of the stuff from the hobbies I’ve abandoned over the years. I want a cute office but I need place for stuff!!!
I do have family photos too though. I should put them on the wall.
Don’t be fooled anyone, this easily cost this dude 2-3 grand not to mention already having all of those tools like a paint sprayer, nailer, and saw ready to rock.
Despite the other comments, I’d be so floored if my partner did this for me — especially if they catered to my style. The family photos were a great touch.
I don’t understand the negativity.
Edit: Turning off notifications because y’all are harshing my mellow
Because it’s framed as a guy “just doing this for his wife” - except he’s an influencer and this is his schtick. He has the time and very likely doesn’t pay for any of these materials, which makes it a lot easier.
Same. My wife actually did this for me last year and I literally cried when she showed it to me. And then I cried again every time I went into the room for about a week. Showed it off to all my coworkers over zoom, I was so proud of her hard work!
Like tbh I don’t know that this video belongs in this sub but the angry comments come off as bitter and jealous 😂
Yeah me neither, watching him go through all that effort was super cool and touching. But I’ve come to find a lot of my favorite sub reddits are becoming over powered with negativity trolls. It’s heartbreaking
Probably because it is such a personal and touching thing to do for your partner... that he just cut into pieces and threw up for content. Cheapens it a little bit. It's one thing to take a picture and be like, "Look at this space I created for my wife." It's quite another to be like, "Okay, make sure we're in frame when you react to it."
Trust me you actually don't. They look super cute but the problem with glass is that it lets light in, and if you have water + nutrients (which you introduce with the propagations) + light, you get algae growth. And algae is really annoying to try and clean out of things you can't fit your hand in. A better functionality wise, worse aesthetics wise design would be dark plastic
My mom went back east to visit her sisters for a few weeks, and while she was gone, my dad had a whole wall built in the garage to carve out a really long laundry room, and pantry. Had cabinets installed, tile flooring, the whole deal. It was basically like adding a new room to the house. It ended up gorgeous, and she was utterly shocked that he managed to complete all this in a few weeks that she was gone. It was an awesome surprise!
I think the best part of surprise like that is that you don’t have to be home dealing with the construction mess.
My other friend did something when his wife went away for a week. He ripped out a fireplace and built a floor to ceiling tiled entertainment center with a new electric fireplace. I was getting pictures and asked for my opinion during the course of the week. He was definitely up very late the night before she came home, but he did manage to get it all done, and she was absolutely stunned. So worth it.
Decorating is where people lose me. How do they even have an eye for random decorations like that?? I need help lol my shit looks like a thrift store. Mismatching colors everywhere.
He had everything at one time and didn’t have to stop and go to the store once

Sears. I bet Sears made this man and his wife’s dreams come true.
This video from 2005?
Sears was in my city until 2020! It’s possible.
2020 was 8 years ago
Haha feels like it hey
I’m sorry that I have to do this but r/unexpectedfactorial
My uncle used to tell me “if they don’t have it at Sears, you don’t need it.”
This may possibly be an ad, but with enough time to plan you can source pretty much everything you need right before you start the job. Mise en place isn’t just applicable to food

Even, perhaps especially, when the last guy was you. "Oh yeah I forgot about this, it was before I knew how to ______."
i like that he completely decorated her dream office including the stuff on her desk. it must be because he knows her so well and not that she actually designed it :’)
I was thinking, "surely she would prefer to be involved with the incidentals at least," but yeah her making all the calls up front makes sense.
Wiring is also not included
Those look like battery operated installed lights. They each had a remote.
Ohh, that will be fun
I know right? I scrolled down through comments and someone said it was a rechargeable light bulb. It just sounds like 10x the work for being lazy. One of my kids is addicted to these fun random lights to drape on the wall, black light strip and even a night time sound machine/light. We are hemorrhaging batteries and ive had about enough. What a horse sh*t montage
What horse shit furniture. Looks like a bunch of cheap, flat-packed, made in China crap.
I'm developing my basement from scratch with no prior experience. I've been to Home Depot so many fucking times the staff probably think I work there. Walk in the door, oh hey new guy, ready to put in another solid 8 today? They're bringin in pizza for for lunch. I'll be there!
What's your record for one day? I think I hit four once.
Battery powered wall lamps?
No floor outlet for all the electrical needs from the desk either.
He didn't have a choice. It's how she dreamed it
She has dumb dreams. I dream of proper cable management.
You win today, thank you
/r/cableporn
That wasn't nostalgic scrambled channels at all!
Lol
There’s no computer! Just random bullshit on the desk! What kind of work is she supposed to be doing in there with zero equipment or materials of any kind? Journaling?
This always drives me I N S A N E
And no floor outlet for a laptop charger or desktop. This whole room looks cool, but is incredibly impractical.
Looks very air bnb.
Ahhh, thank you, I couldn't figure out how to describe it, but this sums it up
Yep. Well the light bulbs are rechargeable.
I had to rewind to see where I missed him running electricity for those lamps. Was disappointing to see he took the easy way out.
The worst part is that he painted the wall anyways, it would’ve been so easy (but more time consuming) to properly wire those lights and fix the wall after.
I rewinded too. I still don't get it. Is it rechargeable lamps? If so, it's useless
Rechargable bulbs. Still equally useless
This was my one gripe. Now she has a drawer full of remotes to turn those on and she’ll be frustrated when she tries and they’re dead and company is coming over in 10 minutes.
Fucking three cuts a second it’s like very bad stop motion.
Even the end when they are showing the finished room it’s all cut up….why
I saw one yesterday of a dad making a little caravan for his daughter. They had 3 cuts as the kiddo drives away in a slow motorized car… why lol? The cuts are the same length of time as letting the kid slowly drive away What kind of maniac watches this and thinks it’s good editing
Same guy
Because it's the same guy! The cuts are insanely annoying in both.
And it’s STILL TOO LONG
I feel sick watching shit like this. If it was like 3 seconds per cut it would be more bearable.
Fuck this video editing. It literally hurts my eyes.
When a video is edited this way I just skip to the end.
This is the way
It’s so choppy I hate it
ADD editing.
Can confirm, I have ADD and I find it watchable
I thought it was fine, too. Do I have the math disorder?
Depends. Do you sometimes lose interest in the middle doing something and start doing someth
I have ADD and to me it's like nails on a chalk board lol
I have ADD too and I can't watch it.
Have ADHD and want to hit it with a stick made out of fire and wrapped in spikes.
Yeah, I agree. I found it quite soothing, cause I didn't have to look at any one frame for too long
Too long? Each cut is less than half a second, and you still end up watching a minute and a half video that ends up looking like stop-motion because it’s cut so quickly. That’s beyond ADHD editing.
Also have it.. as much as I know this editing is bad for my brain and society in general… it sure does keep me watching!
Yeah I quite liked the editing. Hmm
TikTok editing
Kinda expected a flash of Tyler Durden to show up.
Came here to say the same. Thanks for the headache.
It gives me motion sickness after a few seconds.
I can better understand how flashing lights can trigger seizures after seeing videos like these.
Extremely annoying. Those cuts can work if the camera stays in one place, but here it is just painful
Live action claymation
Social media is proof that most people should not get into film. This is fucking horrifying
Man, I thought I was the only one. So much skipping 😵💫
Mhm. Every single comment is against it, and guess what? It's going to have thousands of upvotes. Yknow why? Because this sub is botted all to hell
You'd like to think that, but it's been that way since forever. More people just casually scroll and hit an up or down arrow, often without even finishing the whole thing Most people just don't feel strongly enough to comment.
Oddly not satisfying at all.
especially with how it starts with accidentally on purpose smashing that light fixture
"Oh no! I did an oopsie! Aren't I *relatable* now? Smash that LIKE button - and my wife will wag her finger at me if not enough people hit the notification bell! Ho ho!"
I hate how videos like these are so formulaic that these intentional "accidents" are even a thing at all. Idk if it's supposed to be for comedic relief or what, but anytime I come across one of these videos randomly with that in there, I'm reminded why I can never finish watching them
Infuriating to say the least.

It looks bad. I thought he'd pull off some painter's tape from the trim but nope: singular monochromatic grey wall with three white walls. Nifty.
Oddly ridiculous
He wore the same outfit for 2 weeks while working on this
Hate these ‘POV’ videos made by people who don’t understand what POV means
Plot twist, there are actually two husbands
I absolutely hate this content creator. Every video he makes is basically a tribute to himself for being rich and amazing in his mind.
If he's so rich why does he take a functional room filled with cheap crap and replace it with newer cheap crap. I don't even think it looks better when he's done. Just different.
This guy is fucking infuriating lol Most of us Average Joes have average jobs and average lives, doing our best to keep up with the never-ending rise of the Cost of Living Then there's this dickhead - I don't know what their sources of incomes are or if they come from money - but they must living really comfortably with a house like that, in an area like that, with resources like that. thats the office of someone who's job is do nothing.
No monitor stands or laptop docking station, horrendous chair. No external keyboard location or spot for an external mouse. Desk in the middle of the room without power and wired internet to it means cables everywhere
dude took a boring, sterile empty room and made it into a boring, sterile less empty room.
I thought the grey on the wall was a base coat.
lol same, I was waiting for some trim or contrast of some kind, apparently it was just done...
Exactly what I was thinking! There’s no point to the trim. I was expecting a painting, a picture, or mirror. But nope! Lights! The rest of the trim? Just keep it the base color so you can’t even tell it’s there. 😐
He put up wainscotting and got a desk. I'm amazed.
Some people like that look. Design school taught me that lots of people like things that are “boring” to some but amazing to others
OK but the gray on gray wall? Wtf was that?
I don’t like it either, but some people love that look. Taste is subjective
Seriously everything about that room looks cheap. Not inexpensive cheap, low quality cheap. It’s all gone fall apart in a few years and end up in a landfill.
Damn well made sure there is a picture of himself and the kids in the background....
That photo was already in the room. You can see it at the beginning on the video.
The room looks fine. Let's not overcorrect because their furniture style is not as eclectic as you might like.
It's all form over function, but the form isn't that great.
Using a paint sprayer in a North Face hoodie tells me everything I need to know about this person's tax bracket and available funds for this project.
Not to mention that that paint sprayer is over $1000 without the battery
Yeah, but everything looks like it came from Big Lots.
That staged light drop is pure cringe. People film shit like this and think its good. This video is trash with the spam cuts.
What in the Live laugh love is this
Great space for her thriving MLM business.
He forgot the ring light and the tripod
Yeah what the fuck is her job that she needs zero computers and zero equipment/tools/materials of any kind? What kind of job uses notebooks exclusively? Like, even writers and influencers need a goddamn laptop at least! It’s completely non-functional as a workspace and doesn’t look comfortable enough to be a hangout space. What can she even do in there?
I’m pretty sure she’s in an MLM lol
10000000000% this is the office of a boss babe she-eo who totally owns her own company and omg corporate just did something so crazy, it’s going to drive generational wealth for all new members, join my team today HUN
"Thank you, babe, but my clients wont be able to see my asshole"
I was figuring she was a realtor based on the photos behind the desk.
He did install a narcissism portal though.
It's every wife's dream to work in an Ikea showroom
I’ve watched a shit load of HGTV, you’d be surprised what passes as “modern design”
It's every wife's dream to work in a pottery barn showroom.
I’d assume her job is bullshit cause of all the random nonsense out in there
The decorative mouldings could have been such a nice touch with contrast. Making them all one boring shade of grey is a crime. The wall with the moulding up pre-painted was great.
Love the fake chandelier drop... people will do anything for internet likes
I know! Smashing a perfectly usable piece for the draw at the start of the video? Yeah, waste is real satisfying. /s
Yeah starving kids in Africa could’ve ate that chandelier!
Damn Wayfair came up big with this one.
Edit: Turning off notifications because y’all are harshing my mellow
lol the point is this is clearly a sponsored ad, not a heartfelt gesture by a partner
Yeah me neither, watching him go through all that effort was super cool and touching. But I’ve come to find a lot of my favorite sub reddits are becoming over powered with negativity trolls. It’s heartbreaking
People get pissed off at things they either can't have or can't achieve instead of just being happy for someone.
Because it's flexing to the internet. No one does things for themselves anymore. EVERYTHING has to be a brag.
He made a dull room into an ugly room.. WTF....
Step one - get wife.
Dream office to run her MLM scheme from
Amazon, everything came from Amazon
..So what?
So the quality of the furnishings is low and the style is very basic, looks like a knock off hotel lobby. Not real design inspo.
POV? So the husband is standing there watching another guy do this?
All that for another boss babe cricut business….
Damn the people in these comments are miserable lol
Aren‘t they? I swear to god 95% of all redditors are just fucking miserable all the time and hate seing good things.
And those lamps they put on the wall surely just work because you mounted them there. 0 electrical work required.
They're probably battery powered wall sconces. They make a ton of different styles.
A quick google shows plenty of lights that don’t require electrical work. It took 5 seconds ..
I love them and I have them
How often do you have to change the batteries?
you remove the bulbs and charge the bulbs but I only had to do it once since 4 months ago
Great looks if staging a house
Took longer to tape all that than paint one wall. Kids these days.
What took longest was editing together this video.
90% of painting is prep work.
This is not what POV is
I want the plant thing he put on the desk.
All I see is how extremely disingenuous and fake everything is. Even filming the reaction looks fake with multiple takes. So tired of it.
Don’t like
My wife will have that room full of cricket shit and other craft projects before you know it.
So proud of him for doing it all in one day without his wife knowing about it…. /s
There's something I fucking hate about videos like this where people highlight shit that you should just be doing on a normal basis
I wish I had disposable income.
I hope it really is her dream office, which is all that matters. But to me, it’s quite ugly!
It was cute when Jenna Marbles did it but this style of editing is way overplayed.
Live Laugh LMAO Fucking regarded.
Gross colours
I just found those picture trims for the walls I love them.
This style of editing is the most headache inducing shit
Its nice to be rich. It makes your life so much easier
Decorating is where people lose me. How do they even have an eye for random decorations like that?? I need help lol my shit looks like a thrift store. Mismatching colors everywhere.
My preferred version is to play the video backwards
He forgot to add a radiator! That poor woman has to wear her winter hat!
Of course shes wearing a beanie. The aesthetic
This is so fake and basic that they did this inside ikea
Needed to put up the “hang on Kitty” poster
He’s got a great account. I love the videos of him redoing the basketball courts for kids.
Oddly nauseated by the jump cuts,
Good husband, jesus bless you
I cannot escape this creator.
Step-one: get husband.
Then she woke up to see the folding card table desk in the basement with the milk carton chair.
Hmmm, I didn’t expect her to look like she just got in from practicing kick flips.
Bounced after the green chairs
*You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger darling* That office is boring af.
All of a sudden there’s wire for lights! He had help lots of it
I did this for mine a couple of times. She was like, "Looks great. Thanks." She loved it, but generally she's not that outgoing. Never again.
never thought id see wall paneling and framed inspirational quotes in the same room
plot twist: she doesnt work remote
Is it just me or was there no wiring for those wall sconces?
That’s how you earn your Hawk Tua badge boys…
Trim should be painted a different color. The desk sucks too.
I thought he gave up and packed everything up after the light broke 😭
Does she really dream of beige? How dull
On purpose and fake as China
