It's Mike Flanagan, who directed Doctor Sleep, an adaptation of King's sequel to The Shining, and also did Midnight Mass which was HEAVILY "inspired" by Salem's Lot. If I trust anyone to make a DT adaptation today, it's Flanagan.
This mammal is classified as a viverrid, not a mustelid or felid as some might expect. There are many species of genets, the Cape genet possibly being the most well known and more commonly seen of them.
Genetta tigrina: species, tigrina; genus, Genetta; family, Viverridae; suborder, Feliformia.
Feliformia is a group of catlike carnivores. There are nine main families, seven of which survive today:
Felidae: leopards, lions, other cats
Viverridae: civets, the binturong, genets, the oyan.
Hyaenadae: aardwolf, hyenas
Herpestidae: mongooses and meerkats (yes, they are related to cats!)
Eupleridae: Madagascarian civets and mongooses
Nandiniidae: only 1 species, African palm civet
Prionodontidae: two species of Asiatic linsangs
Here is a pic of the [Feliformia family tree](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feliformia#/media/File:Feliform_Timeline.svg) through time (doesn't show Prionodontidae; that may be a new designation). You can see that the Cape Genet shared an ancestor with modern lions, &c. about 40 million years ago.
I wonder if it’s also to encourage good habits. Don’t want to feed an animal with human hands if it’s going back to the wild. That’s a recipe for disaster.
This is a feline. The common ancestor of all felines was probably slinky and super agile like this. Felines are ambush hunters who evolved in the forest, while canines are mostly opportunistic.
His tail looks at one of those kids toys that was like a fluffy worm with a long piece of clear string. it was fuzzy with a pair of googly eyes and you used to pull the clear string to make it move.
woow i saw one in the natural history museum and drew ir but thw propped up version they had looks nothing like the real animal😱 so happy i know this now😍
Lyra's Daemon
Is that a golden compass reference?
Yes!
Damn I completely forgot about this show
Haven’t you read the books??
Nope
First time seeing a golden compass reference in the wild. I’m still so pressed we didn’t get a sequel
The third season of His Dark Materials is currently being released on HBO, and it's superb.
I've only ever read the books, where obviously there is a sequel 🙂
I just facepalmed my self very hard
And the book of dust after the trilogy too. Not only is there a sequel, there’s a sequel to the sequel, and a sequel to the first two sequels
I thought he was a pine marten?
He was. He may have been a civet at one point but not that I remember
I pictured him like this video! Of course, I don't really know what a pine marten looks like except roughly like this!! I've never seen one.
It reminds me of an animal on an alien world in No Man’s Sky 🌌
The hyena ferret <3
Beat me to it. Such a cute little critter.
punker catsnake
Catfoxferret...distant cousin to manbearpig
This animal's voice actor would absolutely have a cockney accent and say "Oi!" a lot.
He has a mohawk on his back!
First time seeing this animal. Where is it located?
Native to South Africa
Make it a bit more fluffy and that is Oy.
AKE Edit: bro someone is making a Dark Tower TV series! I hope they watch the movie and do everything opposite, and I hope it doesn't get canceled
From my understanding the guy is a huge Stephen king and dark tower fan so it should be pretty good.
Long days and pleasant nights
And may you have twice as many

I liked Doctor Sleep! The book was obviously better but I felt like he did a good job with the adaptation. This is exciting news.
An animal I never knew I wanted until now
This mammal is classified as a viverrid, not a mustelid or felid as some might expect. There are many species of genets, the Cape genet possibly being the most well known and more commonly seen of them.
>not a mustelid or felid as some might expect Damn, I *definitely* expected it to be a mustelifelid.
Or a slinkylid!!! LOL
I was gonna say, I bet that cute little fucker stinks!
Was literally just wondering exactly that.
They a kept as exotic pets according to Wikipedia. They are nocturnal,so they might tare it up at night like a crazy house cat.
There’s a drug dealer somewhere with one of these as a pet.
It's a ferret cat
Came here looking for that
It's a ratcatoon.
Raccaccoony
Ratcatoouille but OP (this one don't hide in your hat but eat your head instead)
Presumably doesn't steer you around like a horse either, lol
Obv, cannot be petted right.
anything can be petted if you're brave or dumb enough
Recommend front to back motion only, never back to front ;)
Several species of genet may be kept as pets according to Wikipedia, but it didn’t specify much beyond that. They are not endangered.

Like a tiny hyena
The striped hyena has quite the mohawk! Just like this genet - they are not closely related though.
there is a reason he is using tongs to feed it. that bugger would take your finger right off
I wonder if it’s also to encourage good habits. Don’t want to feed an animal with human hands if it’s going back to the wild. That’s a recipe for disaster.

What a bizarre little critter. I don't think I'd be upset to have one as a fren.

>Cape genet not a feline
Order: Carnivora Suborder: Feliformia
The Felinae are a subfamily of the family Felidae.
Ok, fine, it's a feliform. Who knows what that means? It's cat-like. Related to cats. My point stands even if not taxonomically accurate.
