In Texas we call those June Bugs and right now, in April, they're EVERYWHERE. In the dog's water bowl, in your hair at night outdoors, everywhere. Puppies like to eat a bunch of them, and then throw them up on your carpet. :-)

Spreading the fungus

ALF839

No fungus here.

guusgoudtand

sorry thought this was that fungus that eats it's host but keeps it limbs intact so it can spread around spores

I don't really see what would suggest it is massospora and i think massospora only attacks cicadas (but I might be wrong).

Mcc4rthy

You might be right. I often talk out of my ass.

Can someone explain how this even happen or works

BlueBicycle22

I don't really know what I'm talking about but I assume it is one of the types of insects that basically have their brain spread all over their body like the nervous system so even with catasthrophic damage and most of "the brain" not working there is still enough parts of it working to make it try to move around as it dies. Kind of like how in some movies where you see someone get their head bashed in and they try to say/do things for a little bit unsuccessfully before dying because they have brain damage

bbytapioca

It’s a parasite that keeps it just enough alive to walk for its own gain - not only to feed off of but to bring itself to water to spread & lay eggs in for safety . The bug is a zombie basically
