That’s not why it wasn’t packed within an Amazon box. You are correct, they are not supposed ship things like this to you in their POS (Point of Sale) packaging, but it does happen sometimes. That falls solely on the warehouse worker or merchant who fulfilled your order, has nothing to do with the delivery driver. However, still very possible that he/she is the one who actually stole it.
Plot twist: it was part of a heist for it to get into the hands of a scalper, and they're offering you a refund so it's not outright theft and they can wash their hands.
I deliver for amazon. I would bet money that delivery driver stole it. Some of my co-workers look like they would do that for sure. Bunch of 20 year old douche bags.
What did the delivery instructions say? I deliver for amazon and can say i wouldn't do that. But I am a gamer and know when I see RTX it's gonna be expensive. But to a driver who didn't know or doesn't care. If you didn't have delivery instructions they may not even have noticed it was something expensive.
Therr should be a deposit system where you pay like $10 extra to include a gps tag in the box annd you get the money back once you return it to amazon.

That's a client side modification. It wouldn't effect the server. Unless the game was using integrated graphics and it was running on the same PC the server was running on.
I noticed they will ship expensive stuff in big boxes in the original packaging. When you are checking out there is a gift option which basically just adds another box to the original to hide what’s inside. Hope this helps in the future.
Yup. You have to be real careful ordering big ticket Lego sets from Amazon, sometimes they just throw a label on the box and ship it, $300+ sets. Needless to say it gets mangled which is no good if you are a collector, content creator, or just want an intact product. I usually will order my sets along with a cheap add on item and then select ship in one package.
Same thing with video game collectors editions. I ordered DOOM 2016 collectors edition from Amazon and they literally just slapped a sticker on it. Box was beat to hell too.

We get tons of monitors and pcs at my work that just have the label on the original box and don't get packed inside of another box.

It's so you can ship gifts to people, but you should always check this if it's a high dollar value item. They'll put it in a generic Amazon box and you'll get your package

No tracking on the box other than the driver's word and the truck. If there isn't a camera to watch, why the fuck wouldn't you fuck over your abusive employer and make an extra $1500?
Amazon will ship things as "SIOC" Ship In Own Container if it passes the drop "test". All they do is drop the box at a few angles and measure the damage. If they deem it good enough, you bet they are going to ship as many as they can that way because it's cheaper. You have to label stuff like this as a gift, that will cause the system to flag it as needing a box. It will even fail to ship if the box is missing because the calculated weight will be to far off.
At least that's how it was when I worked there, after 2 years of being a number to the uppers I quit. Things may have changed. But I know if you make it package as a gift it will more than likely get stuffed into a box.

Hell my Hubby has received a $2000 gaming laptop shipped in only it's box. And it clearly screamed all over the packaging that it was a gaming laptop.

At least in Sweden, and probably more places, it's really coming with unmanned pick-up points where a locker will unlock with your package if you give the machine your code. Really is fail proof

He was stunned when we brought it in, we legit could have kept it and nobody would have been the wiser (except that would have made us shitty people so obviously we didn't). Guy was fortunate I was home, because they straight up left it on our doormat in the original packaging and we live in a pretty shitty neighborhood with a lot of foot traffic, would have been stolen in like 20 minutes. We don't even get Amazon (or other) deliveries to our house, we use a PO box because of porch pirates and because our mailbox got pried open and robbed, so I have nfi how it even ended up with us.
You can, anyone can. This person chose to have it delivered to their front door, with no parcel drop, then is flabbergasted when it gets stolen and pretends it's the drivers or company's fault.
Last time I had an issue similar to this one, I ended up getting a free year of Prime. I just kept using the word "unacceptable", about every 3rd sentence ended in that word. Finally the rep said they could offer me a year of Prime, and I said "I can accept that. Thank you, you've been very helpful."
my short time as a fedex driver, i always hid packages from street view. there were several times i rearranged potted plants on someone's front porch if i couldn't put it somewhere else.
in this case i would have put it between the screen door and the front door, if it was unlocked. best scenario was a house that had a storage tub (with lid) out for deliveries.
When I worked at Amazon, some of the products would come through as SIOC (Ship In Own Container). For example, toilet paper or paper towels. But sometimes, I don't know why, the system would determine other products as SIOC. A keyboard was one of them. Definitely a "bruh" moment.

I would do exactly this if I was a delivery driver. Then everyone will assume it was a mistake and stolen. Then as soon as u get a pic as driver, take it back and Noone assume it was you. Hopefully u got a ring ha
It's standard where I live for Amazon delivery to take a picture when they leave the package. It works out great for the customer, too. Whenever they leave my package at the wrong house and try to deny it, I just tell them to compare the pictures.
$30 for a Wyze camera and 5 minutes to program and install. I understand why some elderly folks have not jumped on the the wagon... But you clearly understand tech. Wonder how many "stolen" GPUs are processed by Amazon daily?
They sent my $200 Asus router in just the Asus retail box last year. Thankfully I live on the 3rd floor in a condo, so very few people walk up the stairs. I was actually surprised that they delivered this box to my door as sometimes they are lazy and simply leave a pile of Amazon boxes on the first floor for everyone to sort through.

Amazon has their own delivery service in the US. It literally goes from their warehouse to their delivery drivers. Only post office employees can access or hold mail at the US Post Offices. (we have PO Boxes that you can pay for at the post office, but they are only on request) Packages from Amazon are always left near your door unless you use an Amazon locker or have it delivered to your job (office).
It is good if you live in a lower crime area as the package is literally left at your door. It was really beneficial last year when a lot of the US was "locked down" for Covid. I have had them deliver food from Whole Foods (food store) to my door to. Again, really helpful during Covid.
I left it out there for them to sweep for the delivery picture! They didnt even make it look good. How come i be seeing all these videos on how companies deliver and amazon being the ones that make your porch look nice. But when I want it. It dont get done.

My state/city unfortunately does not offer what other state/country/city has. They are working on a fulfillment center 10 minutes away from me so hopefully one day they will offer same day delivery

I really don't get why Americans put up with packages being left unattended. Here in the Netherlands the delivery person will take the package back with them if I'm not home and attempt to deliver it again the next day. If I'm not home again they'll leave it at the closest pick-up point (generally a supermarket) where I'll have to identify myself as the addressee before they'll hand me the package. They only real exception to this process is that the delivery person can choose to hand the package to a neighbor instead, and then they'll leave a note saying which neighbor has it. They'll leave notes saying they missed you and will be coming back tomorrow or that the package will be taken to a pick-up point too.
And guess what: it's pretty unheard of for packages to get stolen here. The entire package stealing profession is just non-existent.

Could have been the driver. They is a recent video (in sure several) of a driver dropping the package at the door, takes the pic, then picks up the package for himself.

That's pretty bad. Last thing I ordered that came in the manufacturers package had a warning that said "make sure someone is home, package is easily identifiable" or some crap like that. Bro same my dad got me a 350$ lego Bugatti Chiron and they just slapped a shipping label on it and left it. I put the boxes on display so when it showed up dented with shipping tape all over it and the shipping label i was kinda bummed. I've seen a few times that items in my cart have a notice "shipped in original packaging, if you would like it to be shipped in an Amazon box, please select this option". So, it is something they do, but there SHOULD be a warning.

That honestly looks like the driver put it down, took a photo, then picked it back up. If they meant to leave it, it would be closer to the door. That's messed up.

Best Buy did this last year at Christmas time. Two of same expensive item. One from first distribution place was properly packaged. The second from a different distribution place had a label slapped on (several actually) and arrived beat up (but useable at least). I kept the second one for myself but I could not have given it as a gift. It would have been stolen immediately if I lived in another neighborhood.
Amazon did the same for me, sticker on the GPU box itself and dumped on the doorstep. I'm happy I was fortunate enough to grab it before it got nicked like yours, that sucks.
This happened to me with dryer sheets. They just slapped the UPS sticker on the front of the sheet box. It arrived opened with sheets hanging out. It was a 7 dollar issue but still, why would they not put every item in a box?
They're starting to ship things in original boxes because there is an industry-wide shortage on cardboard. That being said, they should've identified the high theft risk of this item and packaged it accordingly. Unfortunately Amazon is so huge, the estimated total cost of theft may not be enough to offset the cost of additional cardboard, so in their eyes the risk is worth the savings. It's even more so if the ultimate cost is transferred back to a 3rd party seller instead of Amazon themselves.

I literally took a day off work when my 3060 was supposed to arrive for this very reason. Of course, for whatever reason, it did not arrive that day. Delivered at 10am the next day and sat on my doorstep until 5pm. I feel like I got lucky.
I work in ups so I have to load a bunch of Amazon packages all the time and I won’t lie y’all’s packages come down exactly like that and we have no choice but load them, I’m not sure why though. We get boxes of granola bars, cat food etc that are ordered and come down in their regular packaging with no outer box protecting it. And sometimes it comes down like someone ran it over or kicked it around…

The suburban model is dysfunctional.
We have these here in the US, it works great in cities, but a lot of places require an hour+ drive to get to one.

We don't even get Amazon (or other) deliveries to our house, we use a PO box because of porch pirates and because our mailbox got pried open and robbed, so I have nfi how it even ended up with us.
You can, anyone can. This person chose to have it delivered to their front door, with no parcel drop, then is flabbergasted when it gets stolen and pretends it's the drivers or company's fault.

Last time I had an issue similar to this one, I ended up getting a free year of Prime. I just kept using the word "unacceptable", about every 3rd sentence ended in that word. Finally the rep said they could offer me a year of Prime, and I said "I can accept that. Thank you, you've been very helpful."
my short time as a fedex driver, i always hid packages from street view. there were several times i rearranged potted plants on someone's front porch if i couldn't put it somewhere else. in this case i would have put it between the screen door and the front door, if it was unlocked. best scenario was a house that had a storage tub (with lid) out for deliveries.
When I worked at Amazon, some of the products would come through as SIOC (Ship In Own Container). For example, toilet paper or paper towels. But sometimes, I don't know why, the system would determine other products as SIOC. A keyboard was one of them. Definitely a "bruh" moment.

It's standard where I live for Amazon delivery to take a picture when they leave the package. It works out great for the customer, too. Whenever they leave my package at the wrong house and try to deny it, I just tell them to compare the pictures.
I've never had a naive trust of delivery drivers.

They sent my $200 Asus router in just the Asus retail box last year. Thankfully I live on the 3rd floor in a condo, so very few people walk up the stairs. I was actually surprised that they delivered this box to my door as sometimes they are lazy and simply leave a pile of Amazon boxes on the first floor for everyone to sort through. And on the other hand, I had a 3'x5' box for a pair of windshield wipers a couple years ago. 🤦

Amazon has their own delivery service in the US. It literally goes from their warehouse to their delivery drivers. Only post office employees can access or hold mail at the US Post Offices. (we have PO Boxes that you can pay for at the post office, but they are only on request) Packages from Amazon are always left near your door unless you use an Amazon locker or have it delivered to your job (office).

It is good if you live in a lower crime area as the package is literally left at your door. It was really beneficial last year when a lot of the US was "locked down" for Covid. I have had them deliver food from Whole Foods (food store) to my door to. Again, really helpful during Covid.

I ordered a set of caster wheels for my chair so it wouldn't disturb the neighbours and I got an empty box because \*the wheels have fallen out of the box because there was **not one bit of tape on the package** to you know, secure the contents.\* So, probably not deliberate, but incompetent, or more likely given it's Amazon, one's mental faculties aren't exactly straight when overworked and you have a hypothetical Luger pressed against your head by a manager demanding work faster.
Amazon doesn't pay their workers and that shows in their attitude. Don't blame the worker, blame the people who make their life hell. You could have ordered elsewhere or bought locally.

I don’t get this. It seems very American. But why order stuff if you aren’t going to be in? We don’t really have porch pirates in the uk. Because if they knock on your door and you aren’t in you don’t get it. Especially with Amazon and prime, you can literally pick a day to have it delivered. So just choose a weekend and be there.
My state/city unfortunately does not offer what other state/country/city has. They are working on a fulfillment center 10 minutes away from me so hopefully one day they will offer same day delivery

If only there was a solution to this.... I really don't get why Americans put up with packages being left unattended. Here in the Netherlands the delivery person will take the package back with them if I'm not home and attempt to deliver it again the next day. If I'm not home again they'll leave it at the closest pick-up point (generally a supermarket) where I'll have to identify myself as the addressee before they'll hand me the package. They only real exception to this process is that the delivery person can choose to hand the package to a neighbor instead, and then they'll leave a note saying which neighbor has it. They'll leave notes saying they missed you and will be coming back tomorrow or that the package will be taken to a pick-up point too. And guess what: it's pretty unheard of for packages to get stolen here. The entire package stealing profession is just non-existent.

This is exactly why porch-delivery should be banned/made Illegal. Since you cannot prevent theft of goods like this. Not forgetting are people really that lazy, that they do not want to stay at home or go to the pick-off point that they rather risk getting the package stolen, than get the item without any problems.

If I used my nearest amazon pick-up point it would be a 2 hour, near 100 mile round trip. It's easier to have someone drop it off at my door than spend the time getting it.

Where do you live where amazon ships products in retail packaging and not in a shipping box? I expect this from like DHL or some shit lol. I've never ever received an item without an Amazon box with their tape or logo stamped on their boxes. Even stuff from other sellers on Amazon items arrive in Amazon boxes.

Could have been the driver. They is a recent video (in sure several) of a driver dropping the package at the door, takes the pic, then picks up the package for himself.

That's pretty bad. Last thing I ordered that came in the manufacturers package had a warning that said "make sure someone is home, package is easily identifiable" or some crap like that. I wanna say signature or deliver to person was an option as well. But it's been awhile, and memory is a funny thing. 🤷♂️

I put the boxes on display so when it showed up dented with shipping tape all over it and the shipping label i was kinda bummed. It seems recently amazon just hasn’t been actually packing peoples mail, just shipping it. Happened to me in VA and to my grandma in NJ

I've seen a few times that items in my cart have a notice "shipped in original packaging, if you would like it to be shipped in an Amazon box, please select this option". So, it is something they do, but there SHOULD be a warning. If they didn't warn you, that's really dumb.

That honestly looks like the driver put it down, took a photo, then picked it back up. If they meant to leave it, it would be closer to the door. That's messed up.
THIS is exactly why I have all my shit delivered to a nearby post office, no one is getting it except me. I don't care if it requires me to physically drive there and pick it up. Do yourself a favor and have it sent to one nearby instead of at your door, the minor "convenience" of having it at your doorstep with the 90% risk of stolen vs 100% safe and ready to pick up by YOU only at the office.

Best Buy did this last year at Christmas time. Two of same expensive item. One from first distribution place was properly packaged. The second from a different distribution place had a label slapped on (several actually) and arrived beat up (but useable at least). I kept the second one for myself but I could not have given it as a gift. It would have been stolen immediately if I lived in another neighborhood.

This happened to me with dryer sheets. They just slapped the UPS sticker on the front of the sheet box. It arrived opened with sheets hanging out. It was a 7 dollar issue but still, why would they not put every item in a box?

They're starting to ship things in original boxes because there is an industry-wide shortage on cardboard. That being said, they should've identified the high theft risk of this item and packaged it accordingly. Unfortunately Amazon is so huge, the estimated total cost of theft may not be enough to offset the cost of additional cardboard, so in their eyes the risk is worth the savings. It's even more so if the ultimate cost is transferred back to a 3rd party seller instead of Amazon themselves.

Ooof, I feel the pain. I literally took a day off work when my 3060 was supposed to arrive for this very reason. Of course, for whatever reason, it did not arrive that day. Delivered at 10am the next day and sat on my doorstep until 5pm. I feel like I got lucky.

I work in ups so I have to load a bunch of Amazon packages all the time and I won’t lie y’all’s packages come down exactly like that and we have no choice but load them, I’m not sure why though. We get boxes of granola bars, cat food etc that are ordered and come down in their regular packaging with no outer box protecting it. And sometimes it comes down like someone ran it over or kicked it around…

Ugh!! I bought some bday presents for my 9 year old son…like a nerf gun and they didn’t put it in their normal Amazon box..just straight up nerf gun out in the open! He gets home from school before me and calls me like hey mom so there is a nerf gun outside! Ugh I was so annoyed!
