Custom roms fix that I was using pixel os on my 12R it's was cool tho I was able to upload unlimited pictures and videos didn't account against my storage
OnePlus and realme are both owned by oppo and all three companies have the exact same software now. It was kind of the reason I went with a OnePlus after using a realme 8 for almost 3 years but now I'm kinda disappointed because oppo has completely ruined OnePlus' brand identity
Would still like to see a programmable alert slider where is that at because that shits ass backwards and I still don't like it and maybe some more cool fingerprint unlock animations or better fonts possibly
That would be fire, programmable alert slider and yeah I second more fingerprint animations. When I was still using my 8T I had it on a custom ROM that actually had a shit ton of animations for the fingerprint so I don't see why they should be slacking on that at least.
They all are even samsung is going in that direction, like even there laptop looks like a macbook
Its like look at us we look like apple but we have freedom lol
I don't understand the people who think it *doesn't* look like iOS, it's very obvious that they pulled a "copy my homework but change a few things" lmao.
They're intensionally copying apple. Even the setting.
https://preview.redd.it/3gjcvitqet8d1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c0c6acf5ff4f9b8dc99f941bd04dece607d9513f
Dumbest move.. smartphones are long these days and still they wanted us to reach towards the top most part of the screen to adjust volume & brightness?? Why would one need volume slider in QS if they're still providing Volume buttons!! Or the least, they could've given users a choice to edit to ones liking.
> Why would one need volume slider in QS if they're still providing Volume buttons!!
Here's some that I can think of off the top of my head: Convenience, more granular control over the volume (if it doesn't do it in steps, that is), making quick adjustments, having some form of redundancy if one of your buttons is non-functional or you don't want to hit it.
Granular controls are still available once the Vol keys are pressed and slider appears. If it were for convenience, they should've allowed users to keep the slider anywhere in the QS screen. Unlike iOS we can swipe anywhere on screen for QS.. positioning the icons to ones liking would've been better..
From the home screen you can pull down from anywhere and then pull down again near the bottom to enter one hand mode. That works well, but it's a narrow use case.
I was also rolling my eyes when they changed it but honestly I got used to it on my iPhone and I kind of enjoy it here. Only wish I could change the position to a little lower so I could use it single handed.
With my case the volume buttons are really stiff and using them single handed feels like I'm going to yeet my phone or I need to shift my grip completely.
Yeah if there was an option which I think was on Xiaomi phones then yeah sure, but imo this is the superior design. Just because it's blatantly copied from apple doesn't mean it isn't good lol
It's not good "lol". You can already change the volume with buttons and the mute switch, so another control for the same thing is just wasting space. Also the brightness control is way harder to reach now, unlike in apple's control center where it's much closer to your thumb. I don't hate it as much as I thought I would and the new blurs are much nicer, but it's definitely not superior.
This sub is 90% about the volume/brightness sliders, SOT, and how to close an audio source so it doesn't show up in the notifications drop-down. It's getting pretty tiresome.
Edit: Plus 5% fake moon photos. Can't forget about those.
That's better than a few years ago when 90% of the sub was people complaining about major software issues that actually significantly affected the phone's experience. There was a point where Android 11 or 12 for the 7T's were literally bricking people's phones because of a botched update.
There's always gonna be complaints, it happens on the Samsung, Motorola, and even Apple's sub, but atleast it's gone down to more minor things instead of massive issues.
SOT posts are funny tho. Because 90% of the time they have just used their flagship phone, cranked down the specs and used it for YouTube for 11 hours on WiFi only lol
Also why I don't need wireless charging in my life.
If I'm at my desk I'll just slow charge. If I'm heading off quick 10-15 on the Dash/Warp/Supervooc whatever its called now and I'm away.
Another one with you. Liked how it was before, like as it is now.
With age I've gotten used to see people complain about everything and everyone. I just ignore it.
The internet, man. People are spending 5 minutes posting a thread to reddit to complain about a UI element that *sometimes* makes them spend 1 second extra when they press it wrong.
All I can say is: I'm jealous of anyone's life for whom this kind of issue is important enough to spend energy on.
OP is slow with updates: *"Where are our updates? This company is not the same as before. OP is dead!"*
OP makes regular updates: *"This update sucks! I don't like it!I want it to be as before the update! OP is dead!*
It's so annoying... That's exactly where I used to swipe down to open up all the options, and now I end up either changing the volume, or the brightness. More often, it's the brightness. Ugh!
I also have to reach higher to adjust brightness, which I do quite often... It's inconvenient.
It's not stupid........just an odd choice. So far, there have been like 2 occasions when the volume slider was genuinely helpful for me. Still doesn't justify it being there tbh. It looks alright but makes me feel like I'm using an iPhone copycat and concurrently makes me feel cheap(for being a copycat). Afaik, this change happened because Oneplus/Oppo are dying to please their Chinese users who are more attracted to ios. So it's safe to say that..........
https://preview.redd.it/asd2qz877r8d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8342a86502263e9dd3c292d38a9530332774a689
Putting the auto button INSIDE the brightness slider? Sure, you can get used to it, and then maybe the experience is slightly less shitty, but how does this design choice go through the first level of checks?
Like OnePlus really thought we like iOS but still buying OnePlus for some reason??? No I hate it, it's so ugly why're you trynna copy them??? (Yeah I get it, it's abt preference, but like try to be unique no? Try being an android because you're an android not an iPhone...)
I remember when one of OP's selling points was that their version of android was extremely close to stock. It's definitely one of the things that interested me when I got my OP3T. Making your launcher feel and act like stock with a few extra functions thrown in has always been the recipe for a ROM people praise, so it's weird that they're forgetting this more and more
One UI on Samsung was very good initially with moving options to the middle or bottom of the screen because naturally that's where your thumbs can reach. However they also shot themselves in the foot with the 6.0 update undoing all of those optimizations and moving most options to the very top of the screen.
As far as asthetics my only gripe is it is clearly inspired (or ripped off) of Apple's iOS. I have always like Oxygen OS for being unique.
I don't mind having the option in settings but why am i forced to have it and it isn't able to minimize? I greed for more quick settings tiles rather than another bulky useless feature
Finally someone made a post on this! I thought I was weird for not liking it, it's annoying to operate a big phone with one hand and reaching out to this new slider. But useful in outdoor sunny environments (especially for people like me who operate the phone with auto bright off and lowest brightness)
https://preview.redd.it/tsmc04bnev8d1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8066197dc99bbb0b4fdc5375b23277126081fac
They are blindly copying Apple. Look how ridiculous it looks to have 2 sliders for volume, when changing volume through volume buttons.
That shit look soo damn ugly is like the Chinese company download an ios emulator and stamp it in there calling it an "update" and why the hell do we need the volume adjustment in the settings? There's litteraly a button that automatically done that in old android only the brightness adjustment is there i feel like updating the software makes it worse and worse instead of improving
Just bought a Redmi Note 13 pro+ and the quick settings are very similar, wide vertical bars for brightness and volume, looks ugly :/
https://preview.redd.it/vpc04940ix8d1.jpeg?width=1220&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7313176ca750abaa3a014ebd8e81f55dfb15d80c
Since the phone is so tall, I think they should change from the top position to middle position and provide more customization to it.
Also make notification panel different than cramming it into control center.
Idk I dislike it. I can't peak at my notifications now. It's either fully open or closed. What's the point. I can get used to the sliders but the menu doesn't transition nicely. It either is fully open or closed. I lost buttons as well to accommodate a slider I won't use. Like other configs, I should be able to turn that off. But they won't listen. Shame on me for using a cell phone.
I just wish we had the option to choose what we want where. I don't mind the brightness being vertical, but I don't want a volume slider there; when would I ever use that and not the buttons on the side? I'd much prefer a longer brightness slider (it's too difficult to set it exactly how I want it cuz the slider is too small) down the right side and a reformat of the smaller icons. And I hate the thickness of the volume slider that's brought up by the buttons. Literally the whole point in android phones is that they're customisable. Give us options!
Honestly, the recent changes are becoming so much like iOS. I'm tempted to leverage the return window and get the Sony Experia 1 V instead. At least their version of Android is slightly more vanilla. This OP12 has been a shocking contrast compared to my previous OP devices in the past. Every software update comes with bizarre UI/UX changes, and the parallels are apparent.

They put it even higher, where is even harder to reach with a single hand. I swear, the UI/UX designers or the product managers who make these kind of changes are extremely incompetent and shouldn't have the right to work in such fields anymore.
I actually don't mind it and my wife (an iPhone user) appreciates it a lot. When I hand over her my phone, her muscle memory is not wasted :) Having said that, I really miss the old Oxygen OS before OnePlus is overrun by Oppo goons.
I mean I like the design but I have been finding myself blasting the brightness to max when I try to push up and away the notification shade with my right thumb. Guess I just have to get used to it.
Does anyone else have issues sith the fingerprint after the update? It is not working at all and the logo remains on the screen after unlocking it with a different way.
Tried it both in stock launcher and nova launcher...
The horizontal brightness slider, with the option to turn automatic brightness on or off was way better, and ahead of iOS. This was simply a crappy design decision.
I was so glad to switch from xiaomi with this shitty brightness and volume layout and here we are again. Oneplus android skin feels more and more like chinese budget phones trying to copy apple
I also hate this change. I wish we at least had the option to change it back to how it was before. Making changes for the sake of looking like iOS urk me the most.
First widen the volume bar to make it look hideous, then put it side by side in a vertical orientation next to the equally fat and disgusting light bar. Yeah I hate it, not sure if that much was clear.
I also don't care much either way, but I should be able to touch and hold the volume bar to change all the different volumes/get to app volumes/turn on subtitles. If I need to press a physical volume button for that anyway, the slider isn't very useful to me personally 🤷🏼
Imo it seems oppo I mean oneplus doesnt give a flying ____of what the customer like or wants.
you avoided iphone for a android experience then you get ios like ui
your phone is too fast oh wait let me prepare a update to slow your device down.
I kinda like this one but the old one was better. I think they need to copy apple less and Samsung more. Bring some crazy ai features at least for photos and videos and voice assistant. Plus push back the old live wallpapers back and also add some new ones. Make battery optimization, also develop something like Samsung's good lock. And need to enhance ram optimization. Plus becoming generous enough to add 1 year of software update to OnePlus 10 pro and 10t
And now equal to Magic ui, hyperOS and even iOS. Wish they give us more customisation to adjust our preferences on control centre layout. I didn't say it's bad but ya, that freaking bad lol (since oxygenOS merge with colourOS) and everything now just seem similar without differential , realme ui too🗿i couldn't complain much since vivo did the same before they move out to new ui interface since 2020.
Wish BBK come out with new fresh idea on 2024 and not recycle same thing again.
I would predict that all these icons and toggles will also change with the next OS update similar to how iOS provided customization for their control center. Yeah I don’t really like this brightness slider even on my iPhone as well.
I use Nova Launcher but I still have a widget the side of my phone screen. I also hate how they make it so hard to reboot your phone or to turn it off. I had to install an app to help me shut off my phone or reboot it. It is called power menu I shouldn't have to have to use that but it's so damn hard to hold three buttons to shut down my phone. I used to be able to hold the power button down then they shut down menu would come up
Lol yeah it's kinda shitty plus I just started noticing my flashlight/torch shuts off if my phones lightly dropped or set down I don't think that was part of the update or a broken connection inside
I like it. Now that the volume buttons are on the same side of the phone as the power key, it's too easy to accidentally turn it off. Especially with a protective case. And it's easier to change the output device because your finger is already on the screen I don't care that much about the brightness slider one way or the other, but onscreen volume conto is a plus.
It's a good addition especially if you're busy cooking or doing something where you only have one finger available. But they should really make it optional for people who don't wanna use it this way.
The entire control center, and especially the fact they put Now Playing there, is so dumb.
I don't like MIUI/HyperOS, but they got it right, in splitting notifications and control center.
You get more area for notifications, AND for toggles, and it's second nature when you get used to it in a day.
I absolutely hate the setup, the way it was before was way better. And why the hell did they change the time on the lock screen from saying it once really big to saying it twice next to each other but smaller, also stupid
They made it look like apple
These Chinese uis always go to that. What happened to the oneplus of old where there was innovation and features the community wanted?
Dead
Long dead an buried. Oppo has exactly the same OS and OnePlus these days, it's fucking identical
Custom roms fix that I was using pixel os on my 12R it's was cool tho I was able to upload unlimited pictures and videos didn't account against my storage
Is it stable? Inferno's build right. 12r development is still in its infancy.
OnePlus and realme are both owned by oppo and all three companies have the exact same software now. It was kind of the reason I went with a OnePlus after using a realme 8 for almost 3 years but now I'm kinda disappointed because oppo has completely ruined OnePlus' brand identity

They moved on to nothing
And it looks just as horrible on Apple devices. Using a Mac with now touchscreen friendly user interfaces is insane.
FFS, why?
Ans that's when they knew they fked up.
actually they started this years ago with OxygenOS 12 and that's why I've never updated from Oxygen 11 and will *Never Again* buy a OnePlus phone

Yeah it's not just a little similar either.

Yep easier to find when your phone goes all black under the sun when not turning on auto brightness
Everyone has a preference, there isn't an option to remove these two

Sounds like OnePlus isn't listening to their clientele then?
Sounds like if they remove these stupid sliders they've added, fix idle battery drain and remove music tile we'll have nothing to talk about anymore
I don't like that's why I using custom roms
Ok
SOT posts are funny tho. Because 90% of the time they have just used their flagship phone, cranked down the specs and used it for YouTube for 11 hours on WiFi only lol
Seriously. Especially when it takes 10 minutes to charge like 50%. Just use it and charge it.
Also why I don't need wireless charging in my life. If I'm at my desk I'll just slow charge. If I'm heading off quick 10-15 on the Dash/Warp/Supervooc whatever its called now and I'm away.
I know, right? And why make the wifi and data toggles so big?
You can configure that. Inmy phone, it's the wifi and bluetooth buttons taking that space.
Am I the only one that likes it?
Visually, yes. But I have found out a lot of times that i turn on the auto brightness by accident when trying to lower it.
As a OP10 owner, I'm just glad to finally have an auto brightness again.
I never turn it on and only noticed because the display was dimmer or brighter than what I wanted.
Use the top part of the slider. The adjustment is relative this time.
It's hard to reach the top with my thumb.
You ain't alone
i love it. much easier to find brightness and sound settings
I like it too, you aren't alone.
I have no problems with it. I'm not sure what everyone is objecting to.
I got my 12R today and I like the UI change!
I am extremely neutral. It was fine before, it's fine now.
I like it too
Me too

You can still have auto brightness by pressing the light on the slider. Really bad design. Unnecessary change. No benefit. I agree with OP.

Can we get the option to remove Google feed from homescreen by swiping left if we're trying to copy IOS while we're at it?
I don't know. I'm right handed, and I like the swipe down from my right thumb and a quick adjustment. For me I like it.
Agreed

I like it
I like it 🤷
I like it.
It’s pretty much copy paste from apple, it’s honestly not bad imo. But I mean they didn’t even try to hide it. Lol
I also hated it when I used an iPhone. If I wanted an iPhone I'd get one.
Similar ? I thought that was iOS for a sec.
Doesnt bother me at all
Agreed. I hated the brightness slider that way
I was so glad to switch from xiaomi with this shitty brightness and volume layout and here we are again.
I personally don't mind it. I think it's nice.
Never really occured as an issue to me. It takes some real estate I guess, but I'm rarely I'm this screen.
I really dislike Oxygen OS but at least its easy to custom ROM one plus phones.
I hope I don't get cancelled, but I don't rlly mind these
I also don't care much either way, but I should be able to touch and hold the volume bar to change all the different volumes/get to app volumes/turn on subtitles. If I need to press a physical volume button for that anyway, the slider isn't very useful to me personally 🤷🏼
I don’t understand this. What’s the point of buying android if in the end you’ll get last year iOS UI… I require uniqueness!
Imo it seems oppo I mean oneplus doesnt give a flying ____of what the customer like or wants. you avoided iphone for a android experience then you get ios like ui your phone is too fast oh wait let me prepare a update to slow your device down.
I used to be able to hold the power button down then they shut down menu would come up
Yeah I accidentally take a screenshot every time I want to reboot because I forget that it's power plus volume up
Me too. LOL Then when I need a screenshot it doesn't take one. I fixed that you can add a screenshot icon to the notification area.
Which update is this? I just got one and mine doesn't look like that
It's grown on me tbh
Can't standdddd this change, much more difficult to just adjust the brightness. Even though change is a good thing, this might be just annoying
Also, I don't use iOS, so I don't know what it looks like in comparison.
Which update is this so I can avoid it?
I think from 14.1.700 something like that
Am I the only one that doesn't care? Maybe because I use both android and iOS.
This is in fact fantastic. Enjoying New Oxygen OS. OnePlus is more professional now than to cater to the needs of few Enthusiasts community.
You get used to them but I don't like them at all.
Hate it. They're just copying iOS at this point
I got used to it in like 2 hours.
Its not bad at all imo
Not one of the ... Rather The most stupidest change
whats with the applefying of chinese phone ui's
iOS inspired
I really like it. It's fresh.
this is so useful I don't have to press buttons everytime, I like it. if it's a good feature what's the problem in copying it?
I love this change tbh
I don't really care about this UI design, for example if your volume buttons stop working this is pretty useful
Be honest, when did your volume buttons ever stop working
I like it. Of course I may be obtuse because it took a day or so for me to recognize it, but I like it.
Wow looking at the comment section, I'm the only one who loves it lol 😂
if you dont like it, then uhh just dont use it?
I really hope they change this dogsht with oos 15
Agreed, last one was much better
It's a good addition especially if you're busy cooking or doing something where you only have one finger available. But they should really make it optional for people who don't wanna use it this way.
This is shit, i already hate this color os and now this. My last three phones have been op, next one might not be.
I like it ❤️ more usable now!
I hate this so much!
My only problem is that it makes my phone look like a cheap copy of iPhone when it is still costly
Oneplus is trash since 6T
As someone who swaps back and forth ios and oos. This works in my favor for familiarity
I am done with OnePlus will switch to samsung or apple now
I got used to it but my first thought was the same that this is stupid.
Never been happier to have switched to LineageOs
What's wrong with it tho
Not fussed by it, myself.
Feels like they tryna make it look like Apple, I don't like it.
Remember oxygen os?good times
The entire control center, and especially the fact they put Now Playing there, is so dumb. I don't like MIUI/HyperOS, but they got it right, in splitting notifications and control center. You get more area for notifications, AND for toggles, and it's second nature when you get used to it in a day.
I end up accidentally enabling auto brightness while sliding the brightness bar...annoying as hell.
Is this on the latest OTA? My OP12 is currently horizontal on 14.0.0.604(EX01)
This change is with 14.0.0.700
And you'll tap on auto brightness not knowing at least 5 times a day & accidental volume drops are an issue with it too
I actually like it a lot. But I do agree they should give you the option to move it elsewhere if you don't want it there
Indeed
Laughs in iphone 7 the most superior iphone Edit: wait this is a chinese phone?
Stupid place to put yes but hey it came just in time, 2 days before update my volume keys died. So, actually useful for me.
I like it, considering how often I change Bluetooth and brightness (auto doesn't do much for me)
I like it. Easier access to volume AND brightness for me at once.
I absolutely hate the setup, the way it was before was way better. And why the hell did they change the time on the lock screen from saying it once really big to saying it twice next to each other but smaller, also stupid
Will the OnePlus 12 get any custom rom?

I never thought I would say this but I’m happy I moved to I phone :/
