Niko is niko

Tackyinbention

Their gender is ambiguous according to the devs. That also means that no-one is wrong

Okee68

I don't think of Niko as either male or female, although I internally refer to Niko as "he" and "him" just out of instinct. When actually discussing OneShot, I use "they" and "them" like most other people. This also applies to Kris from Deltarune.

HaruBells

I think I’ve actually used all three pronouns for Niko at one point or another. I generally go off the person I’m talking to’s perception of Niko, but my perception has always been they/them.

MaxBuster380

Gender ambiguous is the real answer, it was confirmed by Nightmargin. And no, it's not the same as Gender Neutral, since the former implies that you don't know what the truth is

Hanyuu11

they are the entire gender spectrum

KeenanAxolotl

I first saw them as a girl tbh

MrSquidJD

During my play through, I saw them as a girl (alongside most videos I watched called them a girl) but when I later joined this Reddit and about 80% called Niko a boy and that kinda just stuck with me. I generally don’t care and may use both, but in my head now I mostly refer to them as a boy. Or, ya know, Niko. They are Niko. Niko is Niko.

giganticbirb

English is not my native language, so in 2019 i played with russian fan localization. In russian language there are no gender neutral pronouns, so Niko in localization was a boy. There are two versions of localization btw: one with Niko-girl pronouns and one with Niko-boy pronouns. And now after playing for the first time with Niko-boy pronouns, i just physically can't imagine Niko as someone else but a boy. Thanks to the localization.

heckyeah2131

cat 👍

TheXXOs

cat-person 👍

TxRxNwastaken

all of them

AlwaysAngryAndy

As much as it’s clear we don’t know, I can’t help but see them as a girl. Not much reason behind it tho.

Pro_Gamer_Shadow911

Niko is a Niko.Niko is Niko.

Lollok009

I agree with yiu for EVERYTHING. you said

Kazoomers_Tale

They're gender neutral, but my head cannon says they're a girl for some reson

pyroplaycrosscodepls

The guys whom vote gender mutual never had fun going insane over somebody's gender

The_Empty_Archive

When playing the game I always though of Niko as a girl. Now that I am in this Reddit and know that the creators of the game intended for Niko to be gender ambiguous , I can now say I still see Niko as a girl but I’m now less confused when reading fanfics or reddit posts.

VanillaCold57

I personally headcanon them to be male, tbh, although since their gender is ambiguous, anything would be valid.

stealth31712

i say boy because of the name niko seem more like a boy name than a girl

TheCrazyGuysCEO

Head canon: Frisk = Gender Neutral Chara = Gender Neutral Niko = Female Kris = Male

PepperTheBirb

I see them all as male except Chara (female). Probably has to do entirely with how the names sound.

They said headcanon, that just means it's what they think their genders are

hopefulregularity

Headcanon = what the person thinks, not what's actually happening

FFarekko

Why do I see someone just waiting the right moment to say "Fuckable"?

GTStationYT

Why is that something that even came to your head

FFarekko

I've been seeing too much r/greentext lately

Soup_Raccoon

i honestly it doesn't matter much. just call him whatever you want.

Ironic_234

why have there been like 2 of these in the last like, week. anyways i hc them as nonbinary they/them and collects pretty rocks to throw at peoples faces and digs holes in the ground for no reason

HaruBells

Niko is Niko wym

minneyar

>Niko ends in "o" which typically indicates masculinity Keep in mind that this varies between cultures. In Japanese, for example, names that end in "ko" are usually feminine. "Niko" is actually a bit of an outlier, though, because it can be masculine or feminine.
