Some of y’all went from fire everyone associated with pitching to debating relief situations and arm conservation realllll quick.
Give it a week and you’ll be questioning anyone who doesn’t throw a complete game.
I know! It really was a ton of fun to watch and Cruz def was a great mentor to them (guessing he said don’t do steroids kids lmao).
And I know people love to shit on us not keeping Cruz but no one could have predicted he actually would continue to be mashing for as long as he had. I figured it would be a few but dude didn’t slow down.
From Ruiz
Yennier Cano has faced 17 batters this season. He has retired them all. Seven of them have struck out. Of the other 10, only one has managed to hit the ball to the outfield.
I'm really curious if someone who watched him AAA this year vs last year can comment on what they've seen him improve. He seems to have middling Stuff+ (tiny sample size, I know), but it looks like he's throwing wiffle balls up there.
I like how the players seem more ok with opposing players showing a little attitude (e.g., Cano staring down after Ks). I feel like in the past, players would get offended by this kind of stuff a lot easier. It's fun to watch.
Now, if it we can just do something about these thin-skinned umps....
It's an adjustment for me too. I was definitely raised in the old school culture of baseball, but times change. If it gets the fans excited and adds drama to the games, I'm willing to change with the times.
Felt like another run or two somewhere along the way, and maybe we could have gotten a Voth, Akin, Perez low leverage situation.
Always tomorrow I guess.
My phone froze at a weird time but I managed to screenshot this. Lol.

For his first ever ejection. I think that was soft too. I'm ok with ejecting a guy who turns to argue and pushes it too far. But when you make bad calls, you got to expect some heat.
Credit to Detroit's pitching, Wentz is really the only pitcher who has gotten poor results so far, and he still got through 4 innings.
Also, did that umpire think the second strike was a K?
EDIT: this wasn't meant to be patronizing, I briefly felt like throwing myself off a cliff when Baez tied it up yesterday - I think someone wrote a comment to the effect of "why can't we beat these fucking guys" // not looking forward to E-Rod tomorrow

He’s a short stop, it’s his natural position. They’d like him to be as effective as 3B but he’s played short his whole life, he’s definitely going to look more comfortable there.
Sit on the fastball or pray he leaves one hanging. His low strike zone action reminds me of Britton a little bit, even if Britton was more of a groundball pitcher.
I’m on edge about Frazier because I talked him up so much but truthfully I don’t think you can take away much from April offense numbers from anyone, even Santander.
Baseball is a marathon for a reason.
Honestly, with the insurance we have, I think this is a game you try and get Cio his confidence back. He is too crucial to this already really solid rotation and if he can even get back to half his last year form, the pitching makes a drastic improvement. I can see Hyde thinking this way but I also wouldn't be surprised if we had throw in Baker then maybe Baumann to just go home (assuming Felix can't pitch)
One of these days I’d like to see adley swing at the first pitch. Feels like he’s down 0-1 often. Don’t do it all the time. Maybe not even half of the time. Just once in a while when the pitcher doesn’t expect it.
That’s not even close to true.
If you filter by pitch data, he had at least 367 plate appearances that ended on the first pitch, meaning he swung the bat at least 367 times on a first pitch in his career.
He also had 2905 PAs that went 0-1, and I can’t imagine those are 2905 called strikes with no foul balls or swinging strikes.
At least give it a few years. And you’re right, he gave us a few great years and he seems like a good dude. I felt bad for him as he stoically dealt with his slump.
Seeing that jersey just still kind of stings a little.
I get the sense Geoff is more accustomed to radio with either Melanie or Brett, where he takes more of a central role rather than splitting "story time"
Willis might actually get KB’s references. Which might not be a good thing considering how much of KB’s chemistry comes from the generational differences with Palmer and McDonald.
Gave up 9 runs in 4 innings for us in a brief call up, 14 runs in 13 innings for the Twins. I'd say he's done some improving. Combined 2.90 in AAA last year, so he was at least good there.
Please continue the discussion in the [post game thread](https://redd.it/12vql4l).
Coloumbe really hatingt that mound
OH HUBBAH DUBBAH!!
Winning games with on Adley dh day? What in the Chirinos
Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Make it 5 IN A ROW BOYS
Now McKenna catches the game winning out?!!?!
Fans were pissed when we signed Gibson but he’s a badass
And that’s the ball game. Glad to see Gibson gave the Tigers their one allotted run and nothing more.
Boring is good. Put a bird on it!
WIN COLUMN 🔥🔥🔥
Stamp it!!

Walking Torkelson 😒
Some of y’all went from fire everyone associated with pitching to debating relief situations and arm conservation realllll quick. Give it a week and you’ll be questioning anyone who doesn’t throw a complete game.
Gibson gave up a homer today, washed/DFA
awwwww come on Coulombe
Man, that was a slow changeup.
Coulombe making this boring. Suits me fine.
The fact that only one player has been thrown out for arguing strikes & balls is amazing.
ONE more Danny....you got this!
Man I loved Schoop so much. Him and Manny were so fun together
Manny/Schoop/Nelly Cruz was awesome. Sad we only got it for one season.
I know! It really was a ton of fun to watch and Cruz def was a great mentor to them (guessing he said don’t do steroids kids lmao). And I know people love to shit on us not keeping Cruz but no one could have predicted he actually would continue to be mashing for as long as he had. Jonathan Schoop !!!!!! Hate to root against him. <3

He added some vertical drop to his sinker over the offseason but nothing crazy.
He’s just that dude.

i prefer the skinnier umpires to the lardasses of my youth
Nothing like watching a big fat manager having a screaming match with a big fat umpire.
while the manager is dressed with stirrups and a jersey and the umpire has the giant foam shield
I can practically smell the chewing tobacco!
It's an adjustment for me too. I was definitely raised in the old school culture of baseball, but times change. If it gets the fans excited and adds drama to the games, I'm willing to change with the times.
Yeah, I find myself getting annoyed, but I'm trying real hard not to become the old man complaining about the "kids these days".
Umpires zone will soon expand out into the harbor
dude just wants to go home
What on earth is this umpire smoking
Goodness, this strike zone is an absolute joke.
Damn, looks like Schoop has had a rough start
he old
I've always liked Schoop. Hope he puts it together after the series.
I still cheer for him. Hope he turns it around.
…alright. Edit: not complaining but yeesh. This ump.
We gonna rock down to Electric Avenue And then we’ll ring them up
Coulombe is electric! (har)
I. uh. okay.
Jesus this ump is bad

Our electric reliever. Finish it!
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Danny Coulombe replaces Yennier Cano.

Frazier is the most handsome man on this planet and the most awkward one too. It’s part of his charm.
Nightmare fuel for opposing pitchers
When did Urias get thrown out?
Extracurriculars following a strikeout in like the 5th
5th inning? Palmer was so sanctimonious after the mid inning ejection it was *marvelous*
I’ll have to go back and watch the recording. Thanks!
It was a pretty stupid ejection. Ump needs to grow up.
you see it from time to time these ejections. Mullins got popped that way too.
For his first ever ejection. I think that was soft too. I'm ok with ejecting a guy who turns to argue and pushes it too far. But when you make bad calls, you got to expect some heat.
Terrin Vavra looks like Jessie from Breaking Bad
Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day

Is it the whiskey talking or do we have a bullpen tonight?
We’re definitely cooking tonight. Cheers.
Would not hurt my feelings to tack on a couple more runz bois.
The Cano staredown 👀
It's kind of crazy how much more comfortable Gunnar looks at short. He still double clutches sometimes, but he gets it done.
He’s a short stop, it’s his natural position. They’d like him to be as effective as 3B but he’s played short his whole life, he’s definitely going to look more comfortable there.
really loving Cano's energy
I love Cano man
We've got a mountain and a god damned volCano
and a Bakequake
I like Volcano, that matches the energy
If I were an opposing fan I would hate Cano for that stare down after a strikeout, but he plays for the O’s so of course I love it.
i call that the Greivis Vasquez effect
ok seriously where the fuck did Cano come from?
throw in for the Jorge Lopez to Minnesota trade. Cade Povich was the prize starter prospect.
Okay Yennier Cano...We see you 👀
Idk how anyone could hit these pitches from Cano rn
Sit on the fastball or pray he leaves one hanging. His low strike zone action reminds me of Britton a little bit, even if Britton was more of a groundball pitcher.
Cano is the truth
Cano has no mercy
CaNO hit him
Yennier Cano pose. 10/10
I’m on edge about Frazier because I talked him up so much but truthfully I don’t think you can take away much from April offense numbers from anyone, even Santander. Baseball is a marathon for a reason.
I feel that Frazier 's value isn't tied to his bat first. Defense and working the count can make a big difference for this team.
That’s the spirit!
I can’t tell if Cano stares down every hitter after a strikeout or is staring in complete disbelief lol
Dude's pitch has a bigger skid mark than the batter's pants
Yennier Cano Ya Know
Cano lol
I love Cano's energy
Okay Cano is a cheat code
I honestly thought we got fleeced for Lopez. What an idiot I was.
Lopez has pitched 8.2 ip with 8ks 0 runs and 3 hits for the Twins
i am in love with a man and his name is Cano
Yennier Cano makes it look easy 🔒
Is cano the best pitcher ever?
Only if you don't count his MLB stats pre 2023😄
Honestly, with the insurance we have, I think this is a game you try and get Cio his confidence back. He is too crucial to this already really solid rotation and if he can even get back to half his last year form, the pitching makes a drastic improvement. I can see Hyde thinking this way but I also wouldn't be surprised if we had throw in Baker then maybe Baumann to just go home (assuming Felix can't pitch)
Bring him in for the 9th?
Nvm lol I didn't think Cano would stay in
Just send everyone else down. It’s just the starters & Cano and The Mountain
My only concern with Mountcastle is that his walkrate is way lower than it usually is for him (around 3.5% vs 7% career)
More like Adley Walkman amirite? There’s your merch idea Orioles
I’d buy a Walkman with Adleys face on it.
Giveaway for 90s night. O's social engagement team... go!
DiscMan was the 90s, Walkman the 80s😄
Guess I'm not old enough lol
One of these days I’d like to see adley swing at the first pitch. Feels like he’s down 0-1 often. Don’t do it all the time. Maybe not even half of the time. Just once in a while when the pitcher doesn’t expect it.
Wade Boggs literally never swung at first pitch fwiw
That’s not even close to true. If you filter by pitch data, he had at least 367 plate appearances that ended on the first pitch, meaning he swung the bat at least 367 times on a first pitch in his career. He also had 2905 PAs that went 0-1, and I can’t imagine those are 2905 called strikes with no foul balls or swinging strikes.
K. Heard jon miller say it on radio so I went w/it 🤷♂️
Can plate discipline be taught?
Is the fox broadcast any good? Not a fan of Geoff and Jim
Dontrelle Willis is solid, yeah.
Yup it’s awesome
Ehh, Geoff's ok, he just has no "cool factor" like Kevin. If Kevin is only contracted for 130 games, I can live with him for 32.
This is where I'm at. Geoff every now and then is fine.
Yep. I think most of Kevin’s off games are going to backloaded to August and September due to his ESPN commitments.
I’ll take replacement-level Geoff over Garceau any day
Has Rob Long done play by play before?
It’s safe to say Adley is done with his slump. The on base king is back to ruling his kingdom.
Adley doesn't have slumps. He has times of community service, helping lesser baseball players find continued employment. #AdleyRutschmanFacts
His walk to music will be “in the arms of the angels..”
Walkley Walkman...not chasing your stuff
Someone should let that kid know that we’re not wearing Chris Davis jerseys anymore.
Booooo... Chris Davis was a great Oriole. Wear his jersey proudly.
At least give it a few years. And you’re right, he gave us a few great years and he seems like a good dude. I felt bad for him as he stoically dealt with his slump. Seeing that jersey just still kind of stings a little.
Tyler Alexander has a bare knuckle boxing match immediately after the game.
The first rule of Fight Club....
Adley Dadley DH...Let's effing HIT!
Jim gonna slap this dude
Jim wanted nothing to do with that conversation lmao
Booth chemistry is poor this evening.
Geoff has given Jim a couple of opportunities to step in and say something and it’s just crickets on the air.
It seems like Jim is being a little crotchety with the younger guy.
“Was it something I should see weekly?” Less than subtle shade thrown by Jim Palmer there.
When are the Mullins dongs gonna start
Austin baby....you got this...hit! edit- dang
Palmer and Jeff together sort of lacks chemistry yeah?
I get the sense Geoff is more accustomed to radio with either Melanie or Brett, where he takes more of a central role rather than splitting "story time"
Jeff’s awesome on radio but yeah not too much chemistry with Jim.
but do they have McKinistry?
Y'all having fun not holding your breath on every pitch?!
I know it’s because it’s a national broadcast, but is there even an Arco in Maryland?
I've seen a Marathon on Liberty Road between Eldersburg and Frederick. Not sure if that's the same as Arco.
Google says there's one in Baltimore
Watching my first Orioles game of the year, they look good thus far
O's might have caught a break facing Texas with one series so early. They are on fire right now.
Hadn't they just smashed the Phillies when we played them?
They were tired from beating up the Phillies.
Dontrelle Willis is having so much on the telecast. Kind of want to see him and KB do a National game together.
I’ve been flipping to the FS1 broadcast occasionally. He’s pretty solid.
Willis might actually get KB’s references. Which might not be a good thing considering how much of KB’s chemistry comes from the generational differences with Palmer and McDonald.
### Pitching Substitution Pitching Change: Tyler Alexander replaces Will Vest.
Cano & Baker how do the o’s avoid any brawls between these two showboaters I wonder
Don’t know who the new announcer is but love him asking a question followed by 10 seconds of complete silence
Geoff Arnold is mainly on the radio crew. KB and Ben McDonald have the weekend off. Ben is doing College baseball telecasts.
Us Cano stans have been fiending for this since the trade we deserve this
Povich does anything and this trade becomes a huge W
Cano getting the ump patdown right after that performance
Cano for Gold Glove
Guys I missed the Urias Ejection.. what happend?
Got rung up on a couple wide strikes, threw his helmet afterward, ump didn’t like it. Ump was calling them strikes all night.
thanks
He argued a third strike call. Pretty standard ejection honestly.
Geoff:"Twins Peaks, you like that?" Jim: "...."
Jim. The Orioles are not what they seem.
I wonder what the Orioles did with Cano over this offseason, cuz he’s killing it. He did not look like this before.
Gave up 9 runs in 4 innings for us in a brief call up, 14 runs in 13 innings for the Twins. I'd say he's done some improving. Combined 2.90 in AAA last year, so he was at least good there.
Yeah whatever they’ve been doing with him has been working, he’s a lot of fun to watch!
What fucking black magic did the bullpen work with Cano? He rules.
Cano fucks
Did they just say Cano and Bautista are being called "Twin Peaks"?
Come fire ~~walk~~ strikes with me
They damn near give me twin peaks, and I'm a dude
Titty boys
I like Cano
Cano is That Dude
