Our improvement can be seen at two impact positions, C with Adley and SS with Jorge. The dude could be a legit keeper. He has what you can’t teach in a SS.
Absolutely. If he gets his OBP up to or over .300 consistently then he is a huge offensive threat. Could easily steal 50+ SBs and has the power to hit 15-20 HRs. Plus platinum glove defense at a premium position? That’s a borderline All Star.
I was looking at Ozzie's stats his first full year in St. Louis. Him and Jorge about the same age and superficially they look similiarly. Hey you never know. Maybe the baseball Gods have smiled on us with Jorge. He's certainly my favorite guy who is playing his first full year on the team who wasn't with the organization to start last year.
Mateo is already halfway to Ozzie’s career home runs number lol. He’s definitely becoming one of my favorites on the team. In the span of like two months he’s gone from “stopgap who will not be on the team in a couple years” to “future utility guy on the 2025 WS champion Orioles” to “SS of the future after Gunnar and Holliday move to other positions”.
I love it when his helmet comes off. Reminds me of what I read about Willie Mays. Plus the steals. The best things happen when both Ced and Mateo are having good days.
