Do you have a support belt? With that this kind of work is more in reach of what your belly can take.

I have a stealth belt, but idk if that's really a good support belt.

Missa1exandria

Not really, I thought. The support belt is really necessary to support the muscle and prevent hernia.

Any recommendations?

MrJasonRandall

www.stomaplex.com www.stomadome.com www.ostomyarmor.com www.stomagear.com Insurance should cover it since they can also be used in tandem with a hernia belt

Missa1exandria

I use a corsinel, but idk if they ship where you live.

I worked as a cna for about five years (transferring patients daily, lifting heavy things, on my feet for 8-16 hrs. The only thing that was too much was when I was having issues with my Crohns and the pain/discomfort from that. The colostomy was totally okay with it, though when it’s hot and you are moving a lot, I’ve found that I had to change my appliance more frequently. So every few days instead of about 5-7, which is doable. I use hollister products, and they have a clip on elastic belt that just holds the bag a bit more firmly (as opposed to only the stick on wafer, and that always made me more confident throughout the day especially when it’s starting to fill up and being weighed down. I’d say if you have the endurance/strength to complete the job duties well enough, then your ostomy wouldn’t be an issue! May find that you want to change the appliance setup that you use to give you the most comfort and wear time, but that’s not much different than just normal wearing/experimenting that happens regularly anyways.

I do commercial sheet metal. I don’t use a belt. You’ll be fine

Mr_onion_fella

I have a glazing company. I Wear the support belt when I have very heavy lifting to do but other then that I don’t bother.

I have worked as a marine engineer for over 30 years with an ostomy. This is a very physically demanding job in a hostile environment. Having an ostomy is not an impediment to hard work. I have also spent years scuba diving, riding motorcycles and other similar pursuits. Don’t let a bag run your life. Edit: I never wear a belt ever. I even cut the belt tabs off the pouch before applying it, helps keep things more discreet.
