mentioned a lot, but for a first timer, especially someone that plays games on the zoomer spectrum, there are no dinging little markers telling you what to do and where to go. so sit back and read, otherwise, face fustration.
That was my biggest issue. I got through probably 3/4 of the game, then stopped playing for almost a year because I got stuck.
When I rebooted recently, I said “Better just restart from the beginning.” That was such a great decision. Got so much more out of it when I started reading everything
"Triggering endgame by accident is pretty much impossible, don't worry about it." Also "if you find something really difficult to access there's probably a trick to it that is explained on another planet. Move on and come back later when you know more."
Don’t worry about how fast or how slowly you’re progressing. Take it at the pace you’re comfortable with and enjoy your time, go where you want to, not where you think you’re “supposed” to.
1. Read the screen!
2. This is not a puzzle game. This is a *mystery* game, and that requires a slightly different mindset.
3. There is no friction in space.
Honorary mentions: ignore the recommendation at the start; just play with what you're comfortable with. And maybe stay away from landing cam.
Your sentry launcher has a camera mode.
All too often I see people trying to awkwardly use the sentry to take photos, when you can just use camera mode.
There is no “wrong way” to progress. If you’re learning something, you are going in the right direction. Even if you learn some information before you learn why it’s important, you didn’t do it in the wrong order
If you get stuck, just leave and go look at something else in the solar system for a while! Sometimes you’ll find things that help you solve your initial problems!
I would turn off time progression for basically everything. Reading, talking, ship log. I forget the options but I think there are 3 and I tick them all.
All of your tools are important.
Scout (which, as previously mentioned, has a camera mode)
Signal scope -which can switch between frequencies!
Flashlight is more important than you might think. Some places are super dark...
Your. Ship's. Log. Read. It. ::) (not trying to be snarky it's just that for me, this game would have been unplayable without it)
Also you can use scout and scope from buckled into the ship seat. In the cockpit.
Basically all the starting planet stuff.
1. Please interact with everything at the starting area and keep them in mind.
2. Read everything properly (very very important)
3. This is not a game where you do quests to get to the end or just a puzzle game. Its a mystery game, there are tons of mysteries that you have to uncover. Stuck somewhere? Go to some other place and explore that.
4. Also THE MOST IMPORTANT THING: Enjoy the game. You are playing to have fun and chill. So enjoy the mysteries, the music, the sights and the exploration.

If you're stuck, go somewhere else. There's always an answer to how to do something and if you're confused it's because you haven't found that answer yet. No puzzle is solved by brute forcing it, and nothing is cryptic in a way like "THE SAND HERE IS SLIGHTLY REDDER THAN THERE SO IF I STAND THERE WHEN IT'S NOON AN OPENING WILL FORM"

Turn your gamer brain off. Don't see it as a bunch of quests that you have to go through.
