Urdu isn't my first language so I can't form a proper opinion on this specific argument (I was left a bit confused) but I do feel there's a general attitude to women being considered lesser than men. I have a degree in Islamic Studies. Yet, Pakistanis rarely take me seriously. They will either not believe me if I express an Islamic view or ask another man over me. Alhamdulillah my brother is an actual scholar so I have to message him, get him to confirm what I'm saying and then I'm taken seriously.

Strange_Cartoonist14

True, but also the fact that he said she didn't understand the meaning of Taghut. Taghut is an Arabic word, we are Pakistanis. We speak Urdu. We don't care what Taghut means in Arabic. Arabs have hurt our country enough already by using us a sectarian battleground.

ahmadaliirfan32

His argument was bs tbh. Just if u don't understand as a word doesn't mean it can't be explain in more simple terms. It's like asking this guy something simple in Spanish and then be like ur quote on quote jahil just cuz u don't understand the word? That's bs in fact he was the ignorant one not using simpler terms to provide a basic fact. And calling someone jahil is disrespectful let alone on live TV for not knowing a word and or translation. This is exactly the attitude which he ironically portrayed trying to dominate even though the girl wasn't really wrong she just didn't know the word which is fair idk ton of words doesn't mean I'm jahil? Like bruh and 95% what statistics? I'm not a feminism supporter but I'm really allergic to BS especially condescending BS edit: also the way he used the Quranic verse in that context is not how it should've been used. The people who were considered deaf dumb and blind were people to whom the truth came, and they purposefully chose to act deaf dumb and blind u can't use that verse in context of someone who never know about something in the first place. If he had told the meaning of taghut and then the girl would've argued it to be false that's how the verse would come into context. Idk a ton of stuff am I jahil and ignorant for that? Ofc not lmao jeez man this was disrespectful.

Beautiful-Elk8758

I feel sorry for the girl, the whole exchange was entrapment, Taghut was a jumping off point for him to deflect the original question, and then he ends up calling her jahil for not knowing what the arabic word meant. What’s worrisome is that this guy goes around speaking in universities, like there is no check to keep people like him out of our universities from impressionable youth to fall into his delusions. He is dangerous if you ask me.

watchall47

The actual danger is the awaam. She’s such a brave person to actually take a stand. But post this on tik tok and the blind awaam will use every vile word to describe this girl and praise the nashai good for nothing idiot and the pseudo intellectual sitting beside him. But she standing up is a sign that people now are more critical against self proclaimed “Islamic scholars” using the religion for fame without caring for the people or the religion.

Sayso_sandstrom9796

She works at SAMMA the network where this show aired and threw her under the bus for clickbait. The sketchy title implicating her for blasphemy was clear for any potential viewer. "Kahil Ur Rehman ne Larki ko Khari Kahir Suna Di". They threw their employee for asking a genuine question and the moderator woman didn't even flinch at this rude behaviour.

Beautiful-Elk8758

He and Qamar should be on the question list to ask from a potential before getting engaged.

Worried_Writing_3436

I think we are totally doomed when academics/administrators in unis like GIKI ( I only know about this one) and there may be many others, call him for lectures. I mean God help us.

SceneHot2195

He’s a jahil for behaving in such a manner . But she should’ve known what she was up against when directing questions at someone who is a jahil. The audience could have collectively corrected him but no one ever speaks out when approached with wrong doing

sleepy_tech

I feel the guy is quite smart.

watchall47

Khalil ur Rehman is a complete joke so is sahil guy. Pseudo intellectuals like them who have nothing in their brains but do have a saviour complex are ruining our society. Not that we started in a great place but these fkers benefit from the misogyny of our society for fame.

me_a_genius

No intellectual would like Khaleel ur Rehmat. Not even pseudo

watchall47

That’s a surprise considering the comments have plenty of intellectuals giving phul sapport to muhtram khalil ur Rehman and sir sahil the rocket scientist/engineer

me_a_genius

Then you should highly doubt their intellect.

IMadeThemCry

Portal mulla

Bound_mann

Why are people like Sahil Adeen invited to Pakistani Universities?

cosmic-comet-

Tu Aur hy kon yeha py jany ko jo achy log thy unko maar dia , jail my bnd kr dia ya Pakistan chorny py majbor kr dia , bchta Yehi kachra hy.

Purple_Wash_7304

That's not true at all. There are a lot of really great scholars, even on religion, working silently in universities and research institutes. And if you can't, a lot of good universities invite religious scholars and public intellectuals online. We as a society have accepted these people. And it's a shame

Still_Zombie_4406

Bilawal Bhutto

mahadmajeed

Portals? Lol

Sayso_sandstrom9796

He got invited to top universities of Pakistan. His and the likes of Youth Club are constantly getting invited to COMSATS and NUST. Supposedly the top rated unis of Pak.

spicespiegel

Omg i literally was arguing with my classmates group chat about this. All these people saying Mashallah and 💯💯 stuff pissed me off so much. He clearly steered away from the topic. And used technical arabic words to feel superior

mrg2483

He was shook, he knew he was going to lose the battle. He changed the topic and had the audacity to call her jahil just because she doesnt know what taghoot is. Really?? there are so many things, words that lot if ppl dont have knowledge about. Sab jahil huvay then I guess.

Numerous-Tea-2709

That's what he always does.

corrupted_biscuit

if all the knowledge you've acquired has only served to make you arrogant and gloat pretentiously in front of others to establish yourself as superior, that's jahalat.

kactus_jack

What knowledge? Both these gentlemen are charlatans who pose as (and possibly truly believe themselves to be) intellectuals. This is the kind of scum that has shaped us into the society that we are today.

RadioMullahFM

I've been to one of his talks. When I asked a controversial question he got very defensive towards me

Sayso_sandstrom9796

What did you ask tho? I am curious

Quaid-e-Charisma

**There will definitely be a word in English that Sahil does not know the meaning of. If we ask him what it means and he fails to answer then is he a "jaahil" too by his own definition?** Its instances like these that make me develop a soft corner for feminism(the real one, not the woke b\*\*\*\*\*it) because it feels like it is a reactionary stance to such stupidity. If you give women their due rights and respect, they might think otherwise. The whole thing could have been avoided if Sahil simply said I used "jaahil" incorrectly, perhaps I could have used a better word but it takes courage to accept your mistake in front of a single person, let alone a whole crowd. "Nakhuwaanda", "Unparh", "Lailm", etc. There are so many words and all you could think of is "jaahil"?

TinyLittleFlame

Irrespective of what word you use, you can’t use it for an entire gender!

Quaid-e-Charisma

I agree with you. So many things wrong with this yet people are defending it. Mind boggling!

raitaonbiryani

I've listened to Sahil Adeem and he sounds pretentious most of the time

waqasy

Exactly. He just pops open eyes and try to validate himself. I came to know about term tagout when I was in intermediate. Does it make me superior. No.

WATUPTRAGUY

IDK why women are the only ones being called Jahil? Men and Women both are equally jahil in Pakistan and this could be simply avoided if he just clarified this. He is educated enough to know what he was doing when he made that statement, and how the media and the people will take this. Is mulk mein maafi mangne se pehle log marna pasand kerte hain and that will be the end of this nation. No wonder this country is going downhill.

conkyyy_

Mujhy bhi nai pata Taghoot kiya hota. Guess I am a jahil too.

Solid-Grade-7120

This here folks how you know the literacy level of a nation : the people they applaud, his two brain cells represent the collective intellect of almost an entire nation. Funny how she only asked to not disrespect women at the most basic level and he resorted to the lowest hanging fruit, religious doctrine and 2 to 3 Arabic words. That's the first sign of intellectual disability to hold yourself in an argument. The comments on YouTube are like a call for pest control. At this point we know what we are dealing with, incels and brainwashed millennials dominate these platforms where they start crying the moment their ego is challenged even in real life. It's like my mother commented a thousand times on YouTube and even she doesn't lack that much critical thinking. At this point everyone should actively call out their circle especially the male circle if they idolize these pseudo intellectuals , they are dangerous that's for certain and make situation for women worse in this country if left unchecked

Sayso_sandstrom9796

He knew what hits awaam here. Attack on their emotions and theyll follow you blindly. Notice how he immediately switches to her knowledge of a rando word when she asks him to apologize to women of Pakistan. This is classic Ad Hominem. For a show called "mukalma" implying debate he and writer guy jumped and shouted on the girl instead of answering her questions.

FanGirl_06

Yeh in chutiyon io bulate kyun hen TV pe, weird

ksleepwalker

Because unfortunately there is an audience for people like him.

River1947

Why, as women, are we expecting anything SENSIBLE from men like them? Idk much about sahil but khalil ur rahman is a total POS

2liveandletlive

Sahil is the same. Been following him for a while. He's just very weird.

69forlifes

Sigh* honestly I refuse to listen to any religious claims simple because religion has simply become a tool for people to use for their own gains. The fact that audiences don't have critical thinking shows what I hate about it. You can grow a beard and then use islam against anyone you like. Women get the worst of it Men are often excused and I say that as a man. Our society has some real flaws and we really need more rational leaders. She had a valid question and infact apologizing right there was the right move. But this man has a big ego. Dude just generalized an entire gender as 'Jahil'. I think it's time we develop enough awareness that just because someone preaches something doesn't mean he lives it. We are all human and flawed do not expect you local imam to be someone who is always right and just don't blindly trust them. Think for yourselves Stop idealising people. He is human and humans will never be perfect. Just because your religion is islam doesn't mean you follow it. Because following islam is hard and controlling the nafs is hard. Stop blindly following people and use your own critical thinking skills

daspandas94

Pakistanis lack critical thinking skills. This Reddit audience is not the masses.

Character-Box8792

reddit does not have critical thinking either

No_Acanthaceae_8103

Just watched the entire video and here is what my rational thinking can conclude about it: 1. Girl took the word ' Jahil ' in the wrong sense because there is a difference in the meaning of this word in Pakistani and Arabic language. If someone were to come and call me Jahil I will definitely react in the same way as the girl did, keeping in mind that I dont know the linguistic meaning of it. 2. The way Khalil reacted towards the girl was completely unacceptable! I feel sorry for his wife and daughters. He should be in a mental hospital instead of sitting on the live show and showing his true colours.

Patanahiyarr

💯

Responsible_Nail_376

So i was watching this meme review. A meme comes where a woman says to a man to get up and let her sit because she is pregnant and the man replies “maine kia hai?” and the man reviewing says, sai keh raha hai uss ne tou nahi kia. This our Pakistani society and the mentality of Pakistani men.

ImplementLast

I have diagnosed this guy as Narcissistic A....H....

lordjamie666

Men and Women are equal. Not one gender is superior. So stop treating women better or worse than men. We are both human beings.

Sad_Calligrapher4667

But 90% of Pakistan disagrees with you. (I don’t)

cosmic-comet-

Can we just make a rule here to not share sahil, masood, raja and khalil stuff , I’m actually happy you guys ridiculed them and don’t take their side but we already have enough problems to discuss and these people don’t do anything good to the society.

Beautiful-Elk8758

For real the mental bandwidth it takes just undo the damage.

BoyManners

It has become a favorite hobby of people in this sub to react emotionally to clips and blow up people.

Obvious-Reindeer-801

I call him strawman adeem. All his debates are based upon strawman arguments. Hes a pseudo intellectual. Gives ridiculous rebuttals and thinks hes Grandson of Andrew tate

Jumbo_Mills

Insecure old fashioned men can't cope with the thought of women having a free mind.

WorriedAstronomer

Yes it is a male dominated society Yes, most of these presenters and speakers are full of crap I'm completely against Sahil's ideology and what he preaches But but but In this specific context, he was not wrong and my reason is literally this: ‏‏‎جاحل (Jahil) کا مطلب ہے "جاہل" یا "ناواقف"۔ یہ لفظ عموماً اس شخص کے لیے استعمال ہوتا ہے جو تعلیم یافتہ نہ ہو یا جسے کسی خاص موضوع کے بارے میں علم نہ ہو۔ Pakistani ppl need to gain knowledge instead of consuming so much unreliable information flowing like water over social media. Specifically from the religion, Islam is not based on one own's opinion and comfort zone. It is purely based on the commandments that came through Quran and Rasul Allah Sallallaho Alaihi Walaihi Wasallam from Allah SWT. So, yes, not 95% but more than 95% of Pakistani ppl are literally 'Jahil' when it comes to the knowledge and interpretation of Islam and what's unfortunate is that instead of working on ourselves to learn, adapt and evolve, we start biting anyone who tried to make us realize what we're lacking. This specific trait of our nation has been our own downfall since the 1st time mullahs told us not to learn English or Liberals told us that religion is too strict. Get over it and start learning and practicing Islam the right way instead of blindly following like sheep.

waqasy

Commonly Jahil is used for person who have never been introduced to any kind of education. You're wrong more than 95% people are not Jahils. Just because people have differences in interpretations doesn't make them Jahil.

Emergency_Survey_723

You are just familiar with the slang meaning only of this word which is mostly a local thing. Ignorant of something, seems cool in English, but saying jahil in urdu is not. How come

Adil_Farid

because different languages and different cultures that interpret that word?

SomeNillNull

Because ppl don't want to accept that they are ignorant of something. They couldn't even differentiate between illiterate and ignorant. This society is full of these ppl. They don't want you to point out their ignorance in such a direct way, but if you call them ignorant hell even illiterate in a vague way they will accept it because this allows them to make excuses to satisfy their rotten brain.

WorriedAstronomer

It makes them Jahil when they flaunt and pressurize others to accept their own interpretations without any knowledge and to do so over confidently and lacking manners puts one on top of the list. In civilized discussions or arguments, you don't demand apologies, you put forward your own claims based on facts and stats so others accept it and apologize. Pakistani nation needs to learn and grow instead of only crying over their own failures and lack of acceptance

BoyManners

Don't waste your time here. People are unwillingly to hear Sahil's point. They have made up their mind. They have seen his out of context clips before and some don't even like his eyes. Some of the so called "educated" people here believe that Sahil is crazy because I see it in his eyes. That's the culmination of their assessment about an individual. They are not willing to even engage in an open, honest and reflective dialogue. Let alone willingness to understand.

EniGma249

I called Sahil a pseudointellectual and ignorant, someone who walks on his own whims and wishes, I was downvoted in same sub.

bawaman

After watching the video myself. I invite everyone to watch the video and form an independent opinion. It's not as black and white as being portrayed by OP.

Emergency_Survey_723

Agreed, OP screwed up too many things to serve the propaganda right.

BoyManners

Finally. Glad there are people here who actually watch the complete video to understand the scenario.

thE-petrichoroN

I want OP to counter argument your point, let's see

Fuzzy_Potato

Wow I just watched the video. Good on the girl for standing up for herself and not backing down when he got aggressive and loud in typical male fashion. Sahil Adeem seems insane.

zawraw

They should stop inviting and giving problematic people such as Khalil platforms to speak and talk. This is terrible.

Kuroraion

They both are idiots. They believe they both are know it all. One of them believes in aliens and tries hard to be a theoretical physicist.

Historical_Dig2587

Yeah, it was so wrong. Like does sahil and that qamar know all the words?

Intelligent-Head5676

Yar jawab hai laiken nahi de sakta mar de ge mujhy.

Theuserizabitch

At this stage of life,I am super sure that whatever is done on media is ONLY FOR THE SAKE OF VIEWS. nobody nomore is wise, they’re all just words. The wise men/women hardly ever participate in a debate where they know that the audience AND the guests are nothing but imbeciles and drowning in half held knowledge, placed on the screen for views. More views= more money. More discussions and debates on the general divided opinion = more retention and views generation.

imnedi

"hadh se tajawuz na karo" it is that simple.

Character-Box8792

Entertaining somebodys opinion without accepting it, we need to learn this.

hkahmad

bro iss video se bht se interpretations nikal skte and i am a cyber security student. Agree or not thats your opinion but Electronic Media ko kabhi bhi serious mat lena.... maybe thats all setup for show and a hype. believe me or not but very soon you guys willl realize that......

[Sahil Adeem Hero Worshipping ](https://youtu.be/5o7Vr8jWgWE?si=G5yb1trve2lgEZl5) Saw this clip few days ago.. really tells the story about who we are as a nation

Purple_Wash_7304

We've made heroes and celebrities and public intellectuals out of complete jokers simply because they invoke religion. If you want to follow religion, there are surely a lot of great scholars and religious figures across sects who sit down and do serious work in their area or field and they are seldom seen on TV shouting their opinion. The problem with a lot of religious preaching these days is how self-righteous and aggressive it has become. Someone drifting away from religion is not going to be inspired by loud mouths shouting on media and acting aggressively judging everyone but someone who calmly explains their point of view. The reason some people like Maulana Wahiduddin and Ghamidi is merely because of how calm and sensibly they address people who disagree with them. You don't have to agree with these people to know that their public representation is a lot better than the molvis we regularly encounter. And it's not just a sectarian/pov thing. Look at someone like Israr Ahmed. So articulate and scholarly. The longer we follow these people and give attention to Sahil Adeems and Khalil ur Rehman, the worse our social regression gets. Find better people to represent you.

mushakht

I was feeling bad for Sahil after what Sabee Kazmi did to him but after this video I’m thinking that this fraudiya deserves worse…

Baku_Writes_3116

Let's put gender aside. I can bet around 80% of all Pakistanis aren't aware of TRUE Deen. We are a clan of hypocrites totally obsessed by western parameters ( those parameters which have rotten the roots of the west) You talk about Deen you're considered a mullah... You tell them the truth they label you as extremist. You tell em the Islamic jurisdiction over certain crimes and they laugh hysterically ( EVEN THOUGH THEY CLAIM TO BE MUSLIMS)

AzamTheKing

The girl didint have the basic ethics of communication (same for sahil and khalil). Like there is a way of talking. They should have handled the girl better, and the girl too should have had some ethics of communication. Idk what's wrong with Khalil, he randomly started shouting at her. There is a way that these questions r supposed to be handled, it should be a respectable conversation instead of a fight.

TahaUTD1996

What was the question?

Ok_Manufacturer_7020

I saw the part where he called women jahil. His wordings were harsh. But what he meant to say is that women are unaware about their rights in islam and thats why they are unable to take a stand. Its a positive point being delivered very badly. But i understand the response as well Having said that, the girl was not any respectful or decent either. Kept interrupting which was very annoying

Quaid-e-Charisma

First, I commend you for posting the clarification and context. Still he is wrong to put the blame on women. Which country does he live in I wonder. The problem is not a woman's unawareness about her rights in Islam. The problem is our patriarchal society and lawlessness. All women know they can marry whoever they wish. How many are able to take a stand? How many are successful when they do? You know why they don't take a stand or fail even when they do? Because our society is so weak structurally, legally, religiously, morally, and sociolegally that it makes it very hard for them. Allah has made men responsible for women. The real conversation he should be having is about the men's role in this predicament.

Sayso_sandstrom9796

Sahil and his class of ultra triggered incels are trying to find reasons to rationalize the fact that this man literally called 45% of the population jahil. She asked him to apologize and got vitrol spewed on her by an insecure shitty writer who accused her of blasphemy at the spot. Calling women mentally interior and jahils is what these two idiots have done and the moderator failed to do anything. Samma TV should publicly apologize to this girl for platforming these grifters.

Objective_Day_1724

“Women are not intellectually equal to men” - this thinking is exactly what is wrong with this country. We are in 2024 the women today are more educated and qualified than some men because most men are into wasting time thinking about how they are better while women keep moving forward with their head held high trying to benefit from all these new opportunities that weren’t offered to them before. They have drive while most men are busy debating about their masculinity as they rot on a couch and complain like losers about whats wrong with the world and the other gender. The women today are more men than men because the corporate world functions in a masculine manner. Men and women are not equal i agree because women are natural nurturers while men are providers but both are human and both can adjust roles or take on more if need be. Anyone can grow their intellect its not rocket science.

BoyManners

Tell me you have not watched the complete show without telling me you have not watched it.

AdministrationNo6377

I told this in the past & I m saying it again.., This guy is just blah blah blah !

baba-_-yaga

None of his sentences were even remotely logically connected.

Puzzle-404

I am a 23 guy I used to be a fan of Khalil ur Rehman, but not anymore. He was totally wrong. As a man, I have to say that these two clowns are idiots; they don't have any right to use such strong language towards women. If a 24-year-old woman doesn't know about whatever he was talking about, it simply means she lacks knowledge in that area. How dare he call someone "JAHIL"? And the overacting Mr. Khalil ur Rehman was shouting at that lady for no reason. This is nonsense. I am proud of that lady who stood up and said what wrong is wrong.

Airia1974

I just saw a clip and not the whole thing and what it appeared to be was this man trying to justify calling women jahil because this girl didn’t know the meaning of the word taghoot. From how I understand things many men wouldn’t know the meaning of that word either so how does that only make women jahil? Logic just left the building. Also no single individual knows the meaning of every single word and that doesn’t make them jahils. It does however make the claimant a narcissist. Which he should have been called out for. I wish more men and women in the audience would have stood up against the two idiots sitting on the stage. And oh!!! Shame on the show host fie letting that slide.

mjolnir2stormbreaker

No human is perfect, Neither is Sahil or anyone. Sahil’s issue was the way he commented “Jahil”, This stems out of his frustration when he sees how much people are unaware of a lot of things due to sheep mentality, Blindly following the way world works, mullahs, pseudo intellectuals and social media. One cannot deny the fact that most of the people (it could be you who’s reading or could be me on a different level) are unaware of a lot of things and they operate their lives on the basis of extremely limited knowledge one possesses. What he was saying couldn’t be any less truer than the reality. But the point is one mustn’t take offense to when they are told “You don’t know a lot”, rather have a student mindset and seek knowledge. It was his mere frustration (not justifying) that somewhere during this convo, he crossed the boiling point (cannot keep himself calm, he has anger issues). This can happen to a lot of people who possess high knowledge of things and when they argue with people who don’t have such knowledge, this is where it breaks into a fight. People are too insensitive these days that even if you say something for the betterment, people get offended as they don’t wanna introspect. Sahil has a lot of knowledge on a variety of subjects, He certainly can be weighed against a 10000 Pakistanis on scale, just like a lot of others from various fields. But this doesn’t mean that you go around communicating/labeling in a manner that could offend the commoners. He could’ve said “A lot of women don’t seek knowledge of things as they have completely different interests, such as aesthetics, Friendships, career, etc etc” instead of calling them Jahil. And this same applies to men here, this shouldn’t be a gender opinion IMO. Why am I saying all this? I am pretty much in the same areas of research as Sahil and I’ve dived deep into the rabbit holes of myths, history, theologies and once you get into such areas, You finally start to realize the bigger picture of things. This can never happen when you rely on school teachers, parents, molanas, scholars or imams as they are transferring their own mindset to you instead of giving you neutral knowledge. Sahil did practically give factual answers when the girl spoke and she got too sensitive as well but this shouldn’t be labelled a gender issue, Sahil was wrong on this part. Masses of Pakistan don’t seek knowledge outside of what is provided to them on platter. Those who do, are either introverts like me or don’t wanna speak up as people simply aren’t interested to hear.

eagertolearn100

Idk how a girl who doesn't even have the basic ettiquettes to talk to a person, let alone a guest on national television was allowed to disrespect and quarrel with the guests like she's sitting on roadside fighting with a random person. Had this been a man talking or raising a qs to a woman guest in a TV show, all social media would have cancelled that man for talking to a woman that way. I dont get it, don't men deserve the same respect which a women gets on TV shows nowadays

watchall47

The girl had every right to be angry. It’s amazing how Pakistanis always find a way to blame everything on women. lol Pakistani love to put on a pious show for the world and the society, despite living in a rotten society.

Dodoloco25

That is because he was deflecting the question of not knowing which words make you Jahil. It was why 95% of women are Jahil to these people. I think the right way of going about it, if I really wanted to degrade Sahil, was to start talking about my domain of knowledge, and ask him if he knew about this specific political theory or economic factor. Is tarah tou bhai se coding a question bhi pooch leta and would have said, 'oh, if you weren't a Jahil you would know this by now'. How does that make sense? Also if it was a man arguing with him, he wouldn't have taken this hard of a stance. He knows he is coming from a place of power. Also having men discuss women rights is kind of messed up. Now do men do great work on gender rights, yes they do. I am a man myself and i have met great men that have done great work, but on TV? I can name 20-30 women that would be better for this. I used to be like this when I was in university, but anyone that is not doing a degree is a Jahil. My professor made a very good point then. He asked me that 'can you plant food in a field?', I said no. He added that how does that give you more intelligence than a farmer when you can't even grow your own food? Knowledge comes in different ways.

So googling an arabic word would make her smart from his perspective ? The worst isn't this whole exchange, it's that everyone is supporting him, and going against his perspective automatically makes you a feminist and kaafir( according to people online ). I think it's time we declare that us people from subcontinent are religious extremists and don't follow Islam, as because of us, the name and image of Islam is being dragged in dirt in the western perspective.
