all you have to do is disable windows hardware drivers update, w11 has been very trouble free for me

OldManGrimm

For the vast majority of people recommending an actual fix to Windows is much more helpful, thank you. Most users aren't going to spend the time and energy switching over to Linux, no matter its supposed benefits. And I agree, Windows 11 has been flawless for me.

That has the biggest lie I’ve ever heard. You not only have to disable that you have to go to registry editor and modify a hexadecimal value for multiple different strings to really disable that or else it’s keep trying to update. Next fact you seemed to just skim right over was I have an AMD GPU. You can look up just how many issues those GPUs have alone on windows with windows update forcing an amd chipset driver that causes your GPU to get disabled and even after fixing that I still get worse performance on spider man mm than on Linux. But I guess since everyone uses an Nvidia in your world every one is problem free

Yeah, DO NOT install windows drivers through Windows Update. Use the manufacturer's official installers instead. Last time I tried updating drivers via Windows Update, it broke my keyboard. The solution was to reinstall the drivers from the manufacturer's website.

Creative_Worker37

I do that

whenever I upgrade from my old GTX 970 it will be AMD, I've heard the Linux compatibility is way better

There are driver updates out of the box and most of all your software is on a software store vs having to go to a whole bunch of websites. Proton supports a lot of the games in my library and manages to get me 20% more performance in most games. It’s great for no matter how old your software is too. Now with Nvidia you have to download drivers but they are also in said software store. The best Linux distribution I recommend is Fedora since it comes with again all the drivers you need out of the box with just one update you have to do vs many updates that will fail

getting nearly everything from one package manager is so much simpler than Windows that it makes me wonder why I didn't fully switch longer than a couple weeks ago despite dabbling in Linux on the side for like 3 or 4 years now

Yeah I switch to windows sometimes to overclock my non overclock-able monitor but otherwise I stay on Fedora for everything. I even have my mom and step dad using it
