Try locking your apps using either an app that comes with your phone or from the store. Another option is to physically keep your phone away. They aren't foolproof and you need a lot of willpower but they're a step.

hindi yan madedelete. Punta ka accounts center using the messenger app. The. go to Account Deactivation/Deletion. Choose deactivate then ieenter mo password and reason bat magdedeactivate. I always choose "I have another Facebook Account" para maallow ni FB magdeact. Then may last popup kung icocontinue using messenger while fb is deactivated. Do not click that. Just proceed lang then tada! Ok na un.

Pigilan ang sarili na hawakan ang phone. Kahit na parang matic na siya pagkagising mo, or bored ka na sa iba mong ginagawa kaya naisipan mong magphone, pigilan mo sarili mo, kahit sabihin nating Spotify lang, kasi matetempt kang magbukas ng socmed! Hahaha. Do other things that don’t require you to open socmed. Nanonood na lang ako kapag ganyan, or linis ng bahay. Once kasi na nag-give in ka, tuloy-tuloy na yan. Mindset lang.

It worked for me during college days but i dont think it will work for everyone. I deactivated all my socmeds accounts. My classmates can only reach me thru messenger and email. The moment i re open any socmed apps and prompted login, nagpprocess nalang sakin na "oo nga pala deactivated ako" then i just quit the app. Then siyempre I just sorted to actual hobby (as for me either reading books and playing classical flute + transcribing music) something to improve than being stuck on the endless pit of scrolling.

make your social media accounts as boring as possible. like unfriend/mute mo yung mga friends mong shitposters or mahilig mag-share ng kung ano ano especially ng mga memes. unfollow mo rin mga entertainment pages. less entertainment, less scrolling. i swear tatamarin ka na lang din magbukas ng fb/twitter/insta kasi magiging puro ads or paulit ulit na lang makikita mong posts. dati ang haba rin ng oras na nalalaan ko socmeds without even realizing it. magugulat na lang ako 2 hours na pala lumipas ganon. now, nagbubukas pa rin naman ako ng socmeds pero since ang boring na ng news feeds ko, hindi na ako nagtatagal. tinry ko mag deactivate ng accounts, magbura ng apps, mag install ng focusing apps pero natetempt lang ako lagi na mag log in at mag install ulit. eto lang talaga yung nag-work sakin haha pero sa apps like youtube/tiktok, yun talaga mahirap huhu kasi yung algorithm nakabase sa likes and recent watches mo kaya super entertaining. matinding self control ang kailangan.

Sakin nagdownload ako ng AppBlock app. Nahihirapan ako idisiplina sarili ko kaya need ko ng thirdparty app para maregulate ung pag gamit ko ng socmed. U can put the time usage per day on a specific app or u can just put a specific time of the day para makapagsocmed

You're a journalism student, and you are correct to say that social media are unavoidable for news gathering and exposure. If I were you, I'd limit myself to Twitter. At least until Elon took over, its list function is pretty useful to keep tabs on the latest news (use Tweetdeck). Stick to the Following tab, follow only the media outfits, reporters (especially beat reporters), official accounts of government agencies and public figures (but be wary of the blue check because Elon made it useless), and make judicious use of the lists. On Twitter, journalists are not too tainted by their editors in terms of space and tone, and they are free to post original documents that will not be published in a newspaper or news website. All the other commenters seemed to have forgotten that you are first and foremost a journalism student, and a journalist is useless and worthless if they are not updated.

For me, these things helped: a) I made a new fb account for school purposes lang (like group chats, friend requests sa classmates, follow ng UP pages for announcements, etc.) I think sobrang nakatulong non sakin kasi mas nabawasan yung interest ko to scroll sa fb since halos school-related lang yung mababasa ko haha. Selective lang din yung mga family members/relatives na sinama ko dun sa account na yon, just for ease of communication lang para hindi ako masyado palipat lipat ng account. Another advantage niya is madali ma-track yung mga important announcements and hindi magulo yung messenger ko kasi limited nga lang to school gc. b) Aside from a separate fb account, I also created a different instagram account. Dito naman, wala talaga kong finollow na friends, family, or even celebrities. Ang sole purpose ng account ko na iyon is to follow accounts that are related to my hobbies/passion/interests. Trust me, this really helped me to explore things na interesado ako. Mas sobrang naging focused sa hobbies ko yung instagram algorithm ko. Kaysa puro ganap sa buhay ng mga kakilala ko yung nakikita ko (well, it's not that bad naman pero kasi hindi maiwasan minsan yung sobrang nacucurious ka sa buhay nila na umaabot na sa point na napapastalk ka haha) Even though I spend longer times minsan sa Instagram, at least I don't feel that bad kasi may mga natututunan naman ako na makakatulong sa personal growth ko.
