IMO it doesn’t feel the same in p&f for Buford/baljeet or Perry/heinz bc the show itself makes it clear that the bully/nerd and nemeses relationships are their own type of respected, closed relationship built on mutual trust and boundaries.
BOTH pairs have had episodes directly paralleling their relationships to romantic relationships—if only because a monogamous romantic relationship is the closest analogue we have irl to how the bully/nerd and nemeses relationships function in p&f. So it’s easy to see why one might jump from platonic to romsntic in fanon
Also especially because I always think about how the only two things that have brought Heinz such true happiness in his life, enough to counteract his lifetime’s worth of tragic backstories, are his daughter Vanessa and Perry the Platypus 😭 and it was Perry himself who had a wallet filled with pictures of the two of them having fun. Or how it was Perry who was devastated when Heinz was “cheating” on him with Peter 😭
And for Buford and baljeet they literally have a whole song about how they’re missing a piece of their heart without each other 😭
Like in canon these relationships are very sweet and close best friendships, so shipping them doesn’t feel like a huge leap to me ahdjfkfk
Mostly bc I have lots of other ships that are actually enemies in canon and it’s more like an angry, hateful obsession than the “you’re only allowed to bully ME >:( IM your nerd!” That p&f has going on ajdjfkfkgk
