NEDA says you're rich if your family of five has a monthly income of over ₱241,640, which is 20 times the poverty line.

ExternallyRude

im earning around that and I cant see how this income can support a family of 5 while paying mortgages and bills. that number is probably outdated or came out of their assess.

BoxedBrainCells

That's true. If that's gross babawasan pa yan ng tax and gov't deduction, which is at 85K more or less. Now you're left with roughly 157K to pay for everything, including the education of your 3 children.

coleridge113

Fishball daw dapat foods niyo

Turnover_Shot

same here and im even single. dont believe me? look at average house price in manila and current bank interest rates

CelynLabuyo

200k family of 5? comfortable life lang yan but not rich 😅 3 lang kami, ako, anak ko at yaya nya pero halos wala matira. Mukhang rich para sa paningin ng iba pero hindi talaga 🤣

AllenWalker1990

Bakit parang di ko naman damang mayaman? Parang we are still one sickness away from poverty

based8th

TBH even earning this amount, hindi ramdan yun pagiging rich eh. Cant even buy a big-ish house in metro manila

Ok_Primary_1075

Is that gross or net?

Jetztachtundvierzigz

Gross income for a family of 5.

Ok_Primary_1075

Thanks for clarifying

stcloud777

Damn, parang kelan lang 100k lang more than enough na tapos ngayon sa mga comments dito 200k+ na 😭

XHappyGilmoreX

Yeah scary to look at the figures. Hoping for everyone’s success here.

goldylucks

200k is the new 100k

Scorch543

Mismo, narealize ko din nung sinabi sakin ng gf ko na ang ineeaim ko na is 250k

Exact-Captain3192

Alam mo naman mga tao. never ending wants.

lalaislili

It's not really about that. Grabe kasi yung inflation

free-spirited_mama

Inflation e

AmbitiousAd5668

Hyperinflation? Hahaha Personally I'm in the 200k camp kahit malayo ako bago makarating doon for a comfortable quality life. I still don't think it's rich after my work exposure to rich people. Still depressing. Hahaha

Appropriate-Hyena973

kulang pa yan. am in the 200k+ category 😅

porpolita_33

For me net income. 32 no kids just a husband. Ok na samin ang 60k.

Tall-Agency7429

una kong basa 32 kids

AmbitiousAd5668

Ako din! At nadisturb ako bago matauhan.

porpolita_33

Hahaha huy sorry na may ‘no’ yan naloka kaba haha

trengineer07733

But will you be able to buy a house with 60k? I doubt especially dito sa Metro Manila.

porpolita_33

The question is monthly net income NOT taking into factor the buying a house, rent etc. So 60k is more than enough assuming you dont have any kids. Why do i know this? Because im currently experiencing it now. Its feasible unless maluho sa life. Regarding naman your 60k sentiments if makaka buy ng house. Its possible also, there are rent to own houses here in metro manila but those are usually situated sa class upper c locations

trengineer07733

Stupid me. I see ur point now. If exluding rent, food, and bills and ur left with 60k then it is pretty decent.

Candid_Income5044

100k comfortable na ako since past time ko video games lang then eating healthy. If may family, 200k+ more or less para mas comfortable lifestyle and good education.

hamulion

Currently at 150k net, more than enough for me. But should I plan to start my own family, my desired target is 300k and above

CumRag_Connoisseur

At least 200k NET. 60k for the 3 of us is quite liveable, pero yung comforts na hinahanap namin (house repairs, medical, healthy food) ay literally unreachable as of now. Videogames at baking lang naman ang hobbies ko, and both of those are quite expensive (just spent around 50-60k for a self built PC + 80k for room renovation and AC). I have a liquidity of around 500k palang, I know I'm doing good naman pero I just received the news na my mom needs operation, and ang estimate is around 250k. Kalahati agad ng naipundar ko for 6 years ay magagastos namin ng wala pang 1 month. Damn. Pay to win talaga ang buhay, and money can definitely buy happiness for me.

Green-Ad434

7 digits a month is the goal, dreaming big 😁

Acrobatic_Leader_342

Single: 20k dhs - married w/ 2 kids: 55k dhs

XHappyGilmoreX

Are you based in the UAE? Is 55k dhs per month realistic for us OFW’s especially in the UAE?

GrinFPS

Yes pero maybe in <10% of ofws in uae. My 2 brother in laws earn more than 30K plus benefits

XHappyGilmoreX

This is good to know.

linux_n00by

super rare talaga makakita ng pinoy na may sweldo ng upper 20k usually mga lebanese at indians kasi nakakahawak ng mataas na posisyon

inbetweenyes

Kakaunti lang kakilala ko na kumikita ng more than 10k dhs here 🥲

lemueldave

It is. 2 professionals.

DapperSomewhere5395

Possible, need luck and a niche where you excel. Most OFWs here are in service and creatives sector from what I see, which would not really give you that much, mababa masyado ceiling. The OFWs I know here that make a lot are in tech, sales, and finance - not in the usual positions or roles that are commonly known though.

Acrobatic_Leader_342

Yes po in uae. In my opinion to be considered rich. Income lang if no benefits included like bahay, school, gas allowance.

Vegetable-Pear-9352

200k -300k if you want to be comfortable

Scorch543

Same target, that is if you have a partner that also has a job.

pijanblues08

IMO, depende sa sitwasyon. But normally 50k php person is sort of the minimum to live comfortably. So if you are family of 3, at least 150k to live comfortably.

djtron99

Seriously guys, sa mga 100k above, ano ang pinagkakagastusan nyo? Ilan ba net minimum at maximum target/month pag modest lifestyle like affordable private school, travel, paid H&L, car, no other relative support nor vices.

GoldenScorpion168

It adds up. At 80k tuition per kid per year, add school expenses nasa 20k per month na yan. Salaries for help and driver if both parents are working ilagay na natin sa 20k. That's already 40k per month. Groceries at 20k? 60k a month already. Gas at 5k, already 65k a month. Utilities at 15k, now we are at 80k. 20k nalang natira wala pang savings and mortgage payments.

djtron99

I see thanks. Advisable pa ba kumuha ng comprehensive insurance sa mga kotse or third party TPL na lang? NASA 1500 din per month pag new pa How about prepaid medical card page walang HMO/medical insurance? NASA 400 per month for a small family.

GoldenScorpion168

I always recommend getting comprehensive insurance kasi sobrang sakit sa ulo talaga yung accidents and sometimes, hindi talaga maiiwasan. Not getting insurance because it doesn't fit the budget just means the person can't afford a car yet. I can't answer regarding medical insurance since I'm in a unique spot where I get huge discounts sa medical costs. But when I had medical insurance when I was previously employed, nakakatulong din siya. I suggest you get it if wala kang close relatives na doctors.

djtron99

If the vehicle is new, I get comprehensive but if my car is old say 10 years I only get TPL. I am thinking instead of getting critical/outpatient/inpatient insurance, might as well put it to dividend stocks and only have emergency fund in HYSA.

CumRag_Connoisseur

I don't have 100k yet but eto mga main gastos na inaanticipate ko kaya I want more than 150k: 1. I have a college student. around 30k x 3semesters tuition (lets say 100k for school stuff) + Baon + motor gas (120 pesos amg commute dito samin, 2 way. Fuck tricycles) 2. I want my own vehicle. Rego, Insurance, maintenance, repairs and fuel. May tolls and license pa. Those adds up A LOT. 3. Ang bisyo ko lang ay video games. It's usually a one time purchase pero sobrang laki. Tsaka electric.bills increase as you consume more KwH. 4. One hospitalization will wreck me financially. PhilHealth is fucking useless. 5. I don't care about yearly plane travels and dining out. I just wanna stay at home and cook then play games. I'd love to go to Japan someday tho. 6. I want to have 1 dog and 1 cat, pero probably not a kid. 7. Pagod na kami kumain ng processed food. Sobrang mahal ng local produce ngayon I think that's the bare minimum of comfort for me. I will not settle for bare minimum, I will strive to reach these.

mommycurl

Nakakalula ang comments but it also validates on why I'm spending 70k/month for a family of 3 together with my mother and 2 helpers. I sometimes beat myself up kasi walang natitira sa sahod namin despite having a simple lifestyle. Yun pala, napakamahal maging comfortable sa Pinas 🥲

TingHenrik

Rich is IF you dont work for money but money works for you. You could be a very highly paid employee in the millions but still subject to someone’s whims. Be highly paid professional but as soon as you stopped seeing clients/patients, money stops flowing. Or be rich in (just) the thousands but need not lift a finger Basically it’s not just the quantity but also the quality of your cashflow.

Enough_You86

My house is paid and I'm happy with the 120k a month I get from rentals. But a target, sure make it more

Hot_Twist_1407

Finance is complex. It's not just about how much is incoming but how much is outgoing. I can have a monthly earning of 200k a month, but if im pissing it all off and not investing properly you'll still be ok ( I mean its 200k, imposibleng walang matira dyan in one month ), but you wont accumulate wealth fast. On the other hand, If im earning lower <100k per month but I own a home, conservative on my spendings and at the same time investing and saving aggressively you would be better off down the line. So for me the main thing I focus on to accumulate wealth is your increase your income, conservative lifestyle, and investing/saving smart.

No_Yoghurt_1125

Nagising nalang ako nasa ₱615k na utang ko to survive in this economy haha.

MR_BreaDHead

I am not Filipino however, I dream to retire in ph once that time comes. I am Australian so I will use my local currency, I would like to achieve half of I earn now in passive income to retire. Which as it stands would be around 6k aud a month. I have started to invest in ph I am 39 so putting in the work now to retire there later.

Firm-Pin9743

can I ask why you are choosing the Philippines to retire? As far as I know Australia has one of the best health care benefits for its citizens?

Calm_Tough_3659

Hindi lng naman health care batayan for retirement and for sure pwede naman bumalik sa AU if need ng healthcare and can't afford.

MR_BreaDHead

Thank you, I was going to say the same. Health care is not the priority at all, Australia seems great on the outside but i prefer to be in mnl to be honest. You are correct if things got desperate I can always fly to Australia.

linux_n00by

surprised you liked manila instead of the provinces where most retire..

MR_BreaDHead

If and when I might go to somewhere like tagatay or batangas. Close enough to be in mnl if I want. MNL delivers so many great features good food, good nightlife, always something to do.

linux_n00by

south life is the way to go :D

Thin_Animator_1719

Di ko rin magets sa mga tao to dito. Yes importante talaga ang health but you can get a good healthcare insurance here naman if you had 💵

Calm_Tough_3659

Mostly kasi OFW, galing sa hirap kaya naging ganun ung mindset and besides hindi rin naman icocover ng health care insurance lahat my mga technicalities pa yan unlike immigrant which is usually my mga pera na yan at least sa PH standard

Automatic-Equal1043

300k net and I can consider myself rich 100k for comfortable 50k net for just enough …assuming I’m single and I only have myself as a responsibility

Direct_Spray4824

Seaman here 15 years, asa best of the best in my field na.. super yachts I think.. to consider myself rich is around 800k- 1m, i admit im currently above average if i compare myself to majority of filos dare i say even seamans... Mga capitan at chief eng nalang siguro halos ang tataas sakin, realistically 500-550k sguro max kong ma achieve in a few years if i stay consistent.... Anyway imo nasa ganyan range ako bago maconsider rich basically kaya ko mag invest, mag ipon, mag luho, mag travel walang utang bayad bills, magpaaral ng magiging anak ko sa exclusive school

Anomalous_Djmusic

Well done kabaro! Proud of you! Galing!! Super yatches. 500k! Segundo ako dito sa LNG pero 385k a month lang. hopefully gumanda din sahod. Although may pinot ako kamote dito nasa 950k.

MasterBendu

Objectively speaking, aka. based on government metrics, it’s 20x the income of the poverty line for the **household** (less tax, because net income). So look up the latest FIES report, and input the “rich” bracket into a tax calculator and you now know what net income your household should be earning based on objective metrics.

papeeermint

What do ya'll do to earn 100k+ in a month?

Individual_Chef6345

Im a graphic designer and I have multiple clients abroad paying me $1k-$1.5k per month, its really achievable.. right now I can earn $5-6k/mo.. you should try working online.

papeeermint

Wow, that's awesome! I'm a medical VA with 1 client. Planning to take medical coder course. Hoping I can earn that much too. ❣

Okayyybubs

Target is 250k. Pero no mortgages.more on comfy living and may bala to risk some for small businesses. My heart sank while reading these. Lalo na yung 200k is the new 100k Kasi I feel the same. I earn about 150k and we're a 220k income household, no kids, pero we still struggle. I take care of a parent who has dementia and the expenses are sobra talaga. I also help my siblings and pamangkins. Sa family ko wala kahit sino ang may insurances except for myself, If I put my parent in a home, nasa at least 50k ang monthly payment dun, cash pa. I have a very anxious relationship with money, kahit noon pa when I was young.

Impossible_Pace5788

500k or 250k net. The little expenses add up

[deleted]

linux_n00by

magkano kaya abutin kung gusto mo 500k monthly passive income. heck ok na rin yung 500k quarterly

DifferenceCold5665

Set 500K x 12 = 6M. At 5% per anum dahil very conservative ka, 120M dapat ang investment mo. Wala pa pala yang Tax.

[deleted]

DifferenceCold5665

At the current exchange rate you're almost there!

Family of ilan kayo?

linux_n00by

uae ofw here..... earning around AED23k per nag start palang mag invest even though im more than a decade na. its because inayos ko muna yung mga past bad decisions ko sa buhay pero already bought a land then buying our childhood home sa makati at a massive discount. then saving up for mu kids college. saka im still researching ano iinvest ko sa stocks para may passive income ako im aware na mababa parin yung sweldo ko base sa position ko pero with my age, job security nalang gusto ko

217manladies

250k para comfortable

MilkTea-f

Hello kapwa UAE OFW, umm husband and I are earning 40k aed a month - DINK. We still dont consider ourselves rich. Comfortable lang. Maybe 50k aed.

32156444

15k sar goods na

Numerous-Syllabub225

300k per month

FromTheOtherSide26

Half a mil household income before 28 yrs old

No_Data_7047

Consideration ba kung breadwinner o hindi?

roze_san

Earning at least 80k+ a month with a few increases occasionally. It's not enough. My immediate target is for it to be 100k minimum but I'm also guessing it's also not enough for our lifestyle.

Economy_Ad_5435

100k

deadasian69

300k

Certain_Item8214

200k+ for sure, 100k is decent and passable na (for a single person)

Artistic_Weather1023

100k before the age of 30. After non, lets see gang san aabutin 😃

FunnyChoconut

23yrs old earning 200k a month. Isa sa mali ko yung nag upgrade ako agad ng lifestyle. Mahirap kasi nafantasize ko yung cars, luxury clothing , gadgets and more. At kailangan mo masustain yun kaya imbis na simple lang buhay mo hustle uli kasi need ko magdagdag ng earnings para swabe ang buhay ko.

Curious-Forever-292

May i ask what is your work po?

poolskie

200 net income is comfortable already. On my end it’s like that then 80% of it goes to investments which can be pulled out anytime (digital banks). 20% for emergency luho haha

taechas

Currently earning around 200k monthly with a family of 3 + 1 yaya and 3 cats. Eto breakdown ng expenses ko monthly. Utilities - 10k/mo Insurances(3 of us) - 8k/mo Yaya - 8k/mo Gas - 5k/mo Food - 15k/mo Rent - 6k/mo Car- 18k/mo Cat food- 3k/mo Cat litter - 2k/mo Luho (mostly food) - 10k/mo Diaper - 2k/mo Milk- 8k/mo Total - 95k/mo Wala pa akong anak na nagaaral nyan. Iam currently renting an apartment habang nagiipon ng pang bili ng bahay and paying monthly for a car. Ang mahal ng mga bilihin ngayon. To consider rich, i think you should earn around 400-500k monthly + time with yourself and family

Changedman2022

My net is around 190k plus per month. I think if may family na ako, mga 250k 300k is Ok. Pag rich, baka 500k net. Housing amort palang 100k na siguro eh given house na mga 15m or 20m sa qc.

trengineer07733

Atleast 300k net monthly so I can travel hehe

wanderingming

200k pesos monthly siguro okay na ko. Palakihan daw ng ipon instead of palakihan ng sweldo. Panoorin mo yung vlog ni Sir Vince Rapisura paano pag-ipunan yung retirement baka makatulong. List down your monthly expenses present value. Tapos macocompute mo magkano dapat yung retirement fund mo to cover yung future value ng monthly expenses mo. For me, real estate investment ang plan + SSS + MP2 savings. May townhouse unit na ko na pinaparent which gives me 12k pesos per month, plan ko pa magbuild ng isang vacation house rental. Target SSS pension is 20k pesos per month. And MP2 savings na makakapagbigay sakin ng 15k per month. At 32 no kids, may anxiety na agad na sana tama ginagawa kong paghahanda sa retirement. 🙈

Different_Life_98

im ofw too from the middle east, 13 years din.. able to earn an asset of 28M php and having a monthly salary of 250k+ php din. Do not have plans to retire now or aiming to go back to the Philippines to enjoy a comfortable life.. I am aiming to invest in live in other countries, so yeah, my money is not even 1 million usd to say that I am considered rich when I choose to migrate in a 1st world country

jackammoa

Php 1M

milesyon

Dapat una kang nag invest sa insurance company or bili ng retirement fund. Consult a financial advisor, it will change your life and your family one day!

joe-snow26

kakatakot, daming mamaw dito, when i consider myself already lucky. its really your concept of rich talaga. i wont eagerly aim for 200+ if it means compromising other factors of my life.

Jepoooyy

I'm earning net of 120k every month sobrang kulang nya to live comfortably.

chicoXYZ

$3k from monthly dividend.

XHappyGilmoreX

That’s a nice target. If you don’t mind me asking, monthly dividend coming from which source? Thanks.

chicoXYZ

ETF and global stocks

Dry-Tooth-2975

Target is 300k/month. Currently earning 70k net pasive from 1 condo in Manila and a 5-door mini hostel in the province. Planning to look for more real estate investments to fund for early retirement. Medyo malayo pa, pero laban lang. :)

getbettereveryyday

200K

Puzzleheaded-Rope271

Depende de n yan sa lifestyle nyu..100k a month is okay i guess..tapos mag sideline ka ng business para may income ka monthly like milktea kc easy to prep lang and madaling ibenta dahil mura lang..

ih8cheeze2

200k net okay na ko. If kaya ko kitain sa Pinas yan through businesses uwi na ko sa Pinas. Invest yung extra sa passive for retirement.

XHappyGilmoreX

What type of passive income will you invest in?

ih8cheeze2

Mainly index funds, etfs, dividend stocks, mp2. I used to own 6 gyms and a restaurant in the Philippines but covid obliterated my sources of income. Balik nurse muna sa Canada for now. Prior to owning businesses, I used Wealth Simple auto investing (Canadian based portfolio management company). Allocated almost everything in index funds.

Over_Relation8199

Current household income of more than 1M pero we dont feel rich pa rin. We are indeed grateful for this and yes, our family of 3 can get to travel out of the country 4-5 times a year pero daming bills, goals to save up, and loans. Monthly amort for loans pa lang nasa 300k na. Monthly bills could reach up to 200k. Then yearly insurances for the whole family amounting to nearly 1M. Were OFWs in the Middle East btw. Sabi nga, its not how much you earn. Its how much was left. So when we retire in the PH, we will be fine with 200k net income. No more loans. No more debts, emergency funds established. Health insurances paid up. Kids education fully funded. Just fully enjoying passive and/or active income of 200k net.

New-Rooster-4558

500k net for a family of 4 to be comfortable (not just surviving). Fully paid 500sqm house oand car pero mahal rin magmaintain ng bahay (e.g., pest control, ayos kisame and alulod, etc.). Currently making 400k net for a family of 3, so if mag add ng one more kid, minimum increase ng income by 100k. Saving up rin para magpatayo ng apartment for passive income.

GrinFPS

Earning 65K malinis na yon since provided samin lahat. Target income before my 30s is 100K. Kung nay husband na ko by that time, i would say at least 150K for both of us sana.

najs3ro

Ano pong career niyo and ilang taon na po kayo?

GrinFPS

Ofw po ako. Working in uae sa hospitality industry kaya ganito yung benefits ko. As single, ok naman sya. Pero pag nagkafamily parang tagilid na. Btw im 26.

misschaelisa

500k

theazy_cs

When I have enough money to have it work for me to sustain my life. Siguro ballpark figure mga 500k above of passive income. I think comfortable na ko with that amount meaning I don't have to worry about a lot of things including the price tag of the stuff I'm buying. This varies for everyone. It will depend on what you think you need/want in your life. for example the amount I specified is more than enough for someone who doesn't care about luxury cars or luxury clothes. Pero if you are someone who cares a lot about the brand you wear or drive? 500k is not enough.

XHappyGilmoreX

What type of investments will majority of your 500k passive income be coming from?

theazy_cs

You asked about a theoretical amount right? you asked what should be my monthly income to consider myself rich? so if we talk about specifics, I have no idea I am no where close to that amount.

Emotional-Work-7261

Personally, we (me & my SO) would need around 450k+ net to be able to save a lot, grow funds, cater all of our needs (groceries, utility bills, house & car bills), start up a business, live comfortably and eat out or travel whenever we want to. In short, 450k+ is a good amount for us to have a serene, happy life. 🙏🏻

Emergency_Track2612

300k monthly net, 32, single. I still don’t consider myself rich pero comfortable naman. Hirap din mag ipon Dami gastos and mahal ng mga bills

Invictus0725

My target is ₱500k/ month on passive and semi-passive income. Hoping to achieve it 5 years from now!

Specialist_Extreme67

Hi, do you have tips po ba how to achieve this?

catchmeifyoucan420

Curreantmy earnng 180K NET per month. I wanna have my own house and lot soon, so the goal is to increase monthly NET income to at least 250K

Ambitious_Composer37

Earning mid 6 digits now and our monthly expense is below 100. I can say we are comfortable but not rich.

[deleted]

Not stable but my highest net is $5800 as freelance. I'm aiming to touch $10K either by end of this year or next year.

DontMindMe1204

200-300k

tulaero23

We are making 350k php per month. Pero di namin sure if makakabili kami bahay dito vancouver hahahaha. Siguro mga 5 taon pa para mag kapera pang downpayment and loan.

Radical_Kulangot

Its subjective based on your actual or target expenses & number of dependents. 200k is sakto lang to cover the basics, eat out once a week. This includes 25% food & groceries, 10% househelps, 20% utilities, 20% cars/home/health maintance & 15% kids schooling, 10% allowance for hobbies & pets I have 10 dependents relying on my income. 2 are still in school. 2 has medical needs. I felt free to go about some of our family's wants(excluding mine) when my monthly net income reached 280k. Even now at 400 net, i dont feel a bit rich. Gg at monggo day pa rin tuwing byernes & really has to follow on a strict budget. One month lang magpabaya, expenses can easily balooned even doubled when you just spend without thinking. Based on my family's lifestyle, 500 would be my happy number.

BeginningAd9773

1M a month sana. Mahirap pala 😭 Not even earning 6 digits monthly now…

TomLachlan

I’m targeting 600k+ monthly in this economy. Currently at 200k+, so still pretty far from the goal.

Affectionate-Road12

OFW gross 700K monthly but i send 500K mmoney to Philippines.. I live with monthly allowance of 500dollars, live in a shabby apartment, no car. While my family in Phillipines is living in big house with katulong and yaya and has 3 cars.

Same-Firefighter-618

I’m earning 430k/month but i don’t feel rich at all. 75k - mortgage 100k - monthly expenses 125k - paying another lot (investment) 30K - family support 80k - etf investment Remaining other expenses Most probably only after earning 800k that i would feel rich

OutrageousWelcome705

Our current household income na 3xx,xxx nahihirapan makipagsabayan sa bills and expenses. Family of 3. May psoriasis (me) + husband is diabetic and both of us are hypertensive. Our kid is kindergarten so dagdag yon sa expenses. I also have side hustles (freelance work) and going back to my creative studio work, pero ang taas na din ng cost recently. Need more 💰💰💰 para mas maging comfortable and stable kung sakaling masga namin maiwan si junakis.

Ill-Initial-4949

Im earning 150k pero saktuhan lng dahil din siguro may mga hinuhulugan ako house and lot

payetott

I’m a doctor and i target to have 500k as starting monthly salary
