I am of the firm opinion that all live performances of Me and My Dog are better than the studio version. The belting "I dreeeeam about it" gives me chills every time.

True Blue is the song I always go back to before I listen to any other songs on the album. I can tell itās mostly a Lucy song and her writing is so damn strong as is her perfect voice tone. Ugh.
their self-titled EP is even less commercialāthe record was released through Interscope and while its incredible and i love it, thereās definitely a couple creative decisions that leave an aftertaste of commerciality. their self-titled EP on Matador is from back when people didnāt much know who they wereāi even think technically Julien was marginally more popular than Phoebe back then, I was one of the only Phoebe fans I knew at least.
highly recommend the self-titled EP if you havenāt listened to it yet. itās one of my few 10/10 albums. there isnāt a single flaw.
True Blue and We're in Love (Lucy songs) are simply masterpieces. I'm 50 years old and have been around music (DJ and many musician friends and producers) and those 2 songs simply are perfection
Seeing them live (with Clairo opening) was raw therapy. Like trust falling backwards into the dark recesses of my heart, hoping Iāll catch, forgive and learn to love myself. Wait what?
The whole last part about chasing the dragon and maybe itās a virus. It gets me every time. Partially wanting to go back and change things, and the other part has a double meaning for me, with chronic illness and hopeless past loves
oh you think that's good?? this is pure PERFECTION [boygenius - Me & My Dog (Live From Brooklyn Steel) - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKdRFa0_5Is)
The Boygenius EP were songs they all wrote for themselves brought together for a fast EP turnover, so technically all of Phoebes tracks on the original EP like 'me and my dog' were intended to potentially be on 'Punisher'. The original EP was made quickly to essentially promote their first tour together as 3 independent acts, I think they did it all in less than two weeks if memory serves correct, maybe even less
call us when u sob to me and my dog

Yes yes yes! I looove when Phoebe screams that part
And *Letter to an old poet* afterwards
the things i would do to hear that song for the first time again š
āI wanna beā and then your heart skips a beat š
and Souvenir
Love
š
thats my absolute favourite, "afraid of heights" is a close second

The EP is pure perfection; I can loop listen to it for hours.
any skips?
You should listen to Weāre In Love
Absolutely love that song. Went through a breakup last year and that was my go-to song if I needed a good cry.
I can understand that. Itās so good. Hearing it live was very special

Phoebeās collabs with Noah Gundersen cut me pretty deep too.
Killer & The Sound is obviously amazing, but have you heard her on his track, Atlantis? God, so good.
Yup. I put that song on when I need to wake myself up inside or cry š š«
Same. "If I was a painter and if I was brave..." Chills. OK, now I need to go listen to it again š

Ohhh never thought of it in terms of chronic illness! Something I deal with too. Will keep an ear out for that on my next listen š¤
Iām sure it wasnāt meant that way. My brain or heart just put its own personal meaning. Iām sorry you go through it as well.
I DREEEEEEEEEEEAM ABOOOOOOOOUT YAOUUUUUUUUUUUUU! ā ļøšš
not to be this guy but itās i dream about āitā
"i didn't wanna be this guyyyyyyyyyy"
We're in love is one of the most authentically written songs. shit makes me weak every time
While it does have a very standard āsummer-Indieāsound, that doesnāt necessarily mean itās bad
The best right here.... https://youtu.be/6T5zc36sAIE?si=jZ4wP2S3a00tswrk

My 2nd favorite live recording of M&MD
i love it bc of phoebe belting really strongly, it's something you can't here in the studio version and not something she does in the WFUV version
Salt in the wound give me a real angry sad vibe. Tbh Iām way way more into boygenius than phoebes solo stuff, just saw her in I saw the tv glow.
hahahah i still havent listen to them for the same reasons but I know im definitely wrong
