Yeah. Also buy a red or a green chile burrito to snack on on the way home, it will change your life. Seriously though, the tortillas are just like how my abuelita made them. Those tortillas are my childhood.
Dude I already googled and found another one on union hills even closer to me. The bakery looks like all the goodies mi abuela made for us as kids. Taking my mom in the morning.
I worked with a woman who had moved here from Mexico a few years prior. I brought some La Purisima conchas one morning & she was near tears with how much it tasted like home. It really is the best in the valley for Mexican baked goods.
I didn’t even realize they had one out there. It’s guaranteed delicious. I can’t tell the difference between the one in Glendale and the one East Phoenix, they are consistent and really good.
I will add for everyone reading this they prefer cash and charge a very small 50 cent fee to use card. At the one in union hills there's no seating just a walk up counter. I ate three mini tortillas in the car on drive home. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🤤
Read this comment, grabbed the wife, and drove to La Purisima. Not disappointed at all. Conchas are legit and bought a dozen warm tortillas (flour) and ate 1 on the drive back.
Just a heads up they don't make corn tortillas, at least they didn't when I stopped by a few years ago. Was a bit surprising, but it's a flour-only shop.
Yes. Downtown Phoenix, not the one on 32nd st. I used to just order the buttered tortillas, which is just like it sounds, a fresh tortilla, folded with butter. Oh. My. God.
1202 E Mohave St, Phoenix, AZ 85034
there's a Facebook group called "We Got Plates" and it's filled with people selling food from their home. I've seen people post fresh homemade tortillas and even salsa. People sell other stuff too but it's all guaranteed to be homemade and fresh.

Food handlers card, register with the state, and don't sell stuff that needs refrigeration.
carolina's sells large flour tortillas with no preservatives by the dozen just go in and ask for them. very good.
don't last very long though because no preservatives.
Tortirrikas at McDowell and 24th st makes the best flour tortillas in my opinion. They use lard not shortening. La Purisma's flour tortillas are pretty good and they sell masa. Not sure that they sell premade corn tortillas though. But it would be easy to press and pan fry with the premade masa.
You can make corn tortillas very easily. I started about two months ago. 1:1 ratio of corn masa, warm water (100° f or so) and a bit of salt. A 2 cup recipe will yield 16 8" tortillas, and you can get a press at Fry's for less than $20.
I go to the Gilbert Farmers Market and get these. Always sold out and usually pre-order is good. They are online. Excellent!

27th Ave and north of Durango, there is a tortillería called La Mexicana
They have all sizes of both corn and flour. You have to specifically ask for the flour tortillas with no preservatives. Those are the best imo
There's a farmer's market on Central and bethany at a church on Wednesdas and Saturdays and their biggest produce vendor sells tortillas that are made from flour, water, and a couple of other ingredients.
Ranch market tortillas has garbage in them based on the ingredients on the label.
You can buy flour and corn tortillas *"that aren't full of all the stuff that grocery store tortillas have in them"* in a grocery store: At Whole Foods for corn tortillas you can find the **Masienda Bodega** brand that are like 2-ingredients (masienda.com). They are not the cheapest, but it sounds like you're going for quality ingredients, make sure you warm them well otherwise they get kinda stiff. Also Whole Foods sells **Natural Grains Tortillas** (that's the brand, from Tucson naturalgrainstortillas.com) which are also very good, they keep well, are pliable and taste quite good to me, but some WF have only the whole grain version and I prefer the white flour ones you can find at the WF by ASU in Tempe (Univesity and Ash).

La purisima in glendale. I was honestly lost how to order but once I got them fresh I could eat them straight from the bag they gave me.
There is another one one 28th st and Indian School. Best flour tortillas ever.
Thank you I didn't want to drive to Glendale

New one on union hills and 7th Ave. Just opened up
Read this comment, grabbed the wife, and drove to La Purisima. Not disappointed at all. Conchas are legit and bought a dozen warm tortillas (flour) and ate 1 on the drive back.
This ⬆️
Just a heads up they don't make corn tortillas, at least they didn't when I stopped by a few years ago. Was a bit surprising, but it's a flour-only shop.
What’s the price range do you recall by chance?
Closed on mondays also The burritos they sell are good. Green chili and red chili with potatoes I work nearby and stop a few times a week for lunch
Also bring cash!
I’ve been paying with my card, they charge you .50
Nice! The Glendale location used to only take cash. Kept me from delicious pastries on multiple occasions. Glad they caught up with the times!
Carolina’s
Yes! The one in Phoenix

Do you need some type of permit to do this?
Nah Facebook is free to join despite being a public safety hazard

If you think people in a Facebook group are following those rules you’re trippin’
Did I SAY I believed anyone on a Facebook was following any of that? I just posted the info.
yes, see reply
Carolina's. Also, Mama Lola's sells them wholesale from their factory in Phoenix. I'm not 100%, but I bet you could find them at Food City as well
Food City and Ranch Market for sure, they both make their own tortillas.
La Sonorense on Central, South Phoenix. Cash only.
This is way too far down the list.
Yeah was gonna mention this spot too
Fry’s Mercado locations have good fresh ones. I personally love buying them from Carolina’s.
La Purisima!
Obviously! Why is this so far down?
Any Mexican grocer or tortillería will have what you need. Made fresh, in house, that day.
yup!! el rancho 😋
carolina's sells large flour tortillas with no preservatives by the dozen just go in and ask for them. very good. don't last very long though because no preservatives.
they don’t last long because they are delicious!
well yes, but they get moldy after about a week.
Just freeze them.
I am well aware you can freeze them. I'm just letting people know you have to use them quickly.
I wasn't being snarky. Just sharing a way to keep yummies around longer! 🤤🤤
Benny Blanco's 🤤🤤🤤
Carolinas
La Purisima
RIP Fajitas
I worked there for a couple of years and I got spoiled with Mamma’s tortillas.
They’re the best tortillas I’ve ever had lol
Carolina's

La Purisima, Carolinas, Food City is what we grew up with. I'm VERY picky about my flour tortillas 😆
La Fama bakery at 5328 W. Glendale. Small hidden spot. Their flour tortillas are top notch.
Best tamales too! Their tortillas are tops!
Thank you! Finally someone said it!
Cardenas Ranch Market has a tortilleria inside.
Carniceria Sonora in Tempe (48 st and southern) has fresh made tortillas. They are in a cooler at the NE corner of the building.
I see food city advertises torteleria I'm assuming they make their own tortillas
Thanks. In this case, I’m looking for personal recommendations. I guess I should have stated that.
Cocina Adamex has some good tortillas it used to be Azteca, its off 7th ave and roosevelt
AJ's carries locally made uncooked flour tortillas

Try Sanas at Food City on Baseline. Those are good. Need a little cooking on a comal.
Bills market
They’ve closed…
Omg
Carolina’s. Several locations but I love the original on Mojave.
we just partnered with @anastortillas at my work, and they’re soooooo good
Carolinas are amazing. But I like just getting the raw flour one from Costco. Fresh tortilla at home with almost no effort
I love this thread. I’ve been looking for good choices since I moved from Yuma and lost access to Chile Pepper tortillas.
El Bravo! It’s a hole in the wall Mexican place in central Phoenix and they have the BEST tortillas.
La Fiesta, they start with raw corn in bags and cook them. 19 E Main St Suite B, Avondale, AZ 85323
Carolinas they have a few locations and their tortillas are huge
I go to the Gilbert Farmers Market and get these. Always sold out and usually pre-order is good. They are online. Excellent! https://preview.redd.it/4gk4jq8v4z3d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=9b7345c797fd10acb9ce090f49d25a54992cf874
This!!!! Lots of OG and specialty flavors
Mi pueblito also has amazing tortillas!
27th Ave and north of Durango, there is a tortillería called La Mexicana They have all sizes of both corn and flour. You have to specifically ask for the flour tortillas with no preservatives. Those are the best imo
There used to be this place on 15th and Dunlap (I think) called The Albuquerque Tortilla Factory. Damn, they also sold the best sopapillas
Rosita's in Tempe used to sell their tortillas out of a side window, if I remember correctly. This was the late 70s early 80s.
Anyone sell non thin ones??? Hate that Sonoran style
