Considering how negative and delusional people online tend to be...I'm not sure if this is supposed to be showing off bad value or good value.
Given the picture and conversion rates, this seems like a pretty decent value--cheaper than an inferior fast food burger.
I saw this thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1d9k6p4/this_is_a_4_sandwich_at_mcdonalds_wallet_shown/ about a week ago and wanted to share the quality for the price as a comparison, really.
It was also a McGriddle, which has always been more expensive than the regular breakfast sandwiches. Yeah, shit’s become expensive but that McDonald’s post was just pure dishonest rage-bait.
Yea this is a good deal for Canada. It lacks cheese but the price reflects that and it appears to be a double patty with a proper garnish, iceberg lettuce, tomato a bit or (delicious) red onion and pickle.
I like how the side is not included. Sometimes I like fries but they often give me way more than I want to eat and the price isn't worth it. Some pubs are now charging FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS for a side caesar upgrade. Most pubs around me that would be 15-20 dollars for that burger with fries. The markup on fries these days is fucking INSANE. It's just potatoes!
The mark up on potatoes has pissed me off the most really, of all things in a restaurant taters are the cheapest all around. I would understand a little bit on meats and other more expensive products, but come on not the spuds.
Restaurants usually take a bit of a bath on burgers and sandwiches, and try to make up for it with fries, either as an upcharge/add-on, or to up the perceived value of a plate with a $10+ burger on it.
i would say amazing value, in rural iowa at the place my mother but soon to be me owns... our cheapest burger (all 6oz) are 5.75$ and thats a hamburger, cheeseburger is 6.25.
Sorry it's night and I'm tired what I mean is, my family (mother) have run the place since 2003, I'm finally taking the reigns officially next week as owner.
I look forawrd to watching your Kitchen Nightmares episode, that seems to be how most of them start. Do you at least have a sibling you can be intensely divided with on how to run the business?
nope was an only child, and obviously if the place starts doing as bad as those places i know the lands worth a ton so there is always a backup to sell the place to a certain company who now owns everything around us and would pay nearly double market value for our land lol.
I’d hope it’s just a totally legal transfer of ownership and not a “Momma fell down the basement stairs and fell on the wall holding my recently sharpened ice pick collection.”
I generally don't complain about the prices when eating out (I feel like it's always been expensive), but this looks like a helluva deal to me. Spread the good word and drum up some business for this place, they're doing it right.
I think it’s the Lockeroom in Barrie, Ontario. Based on his post history, I’m also local to it and know that Thursday is burger special night at the lockeroom.
The math there is that their wholesaler delivers meat and veg on Friday for the weekend rush. Tuesday-Thursday discount nights move stock before it goes bad and/or new supplies arrive.
most places I went to the last time I was in Seattle were charging $9 USD for pretty much any beer. the cheapest one I found was $7. much cheaper to drink in Vancouver, which is just a **wild** thing to even say out loud.
That burger alone would be $14.92 down here in Toronto 😂
On the other hand, in order to get this deal you have to live in Barrie - a trade which is simply not worth it in my eyes.
Not sure about the conversation rate from US to Canadian but $6 doesn’t seem that bad. Looks like a typical shitty bar burger that definitely would hit the spot after a few beers.
Ya just checked. Toronto it’s $14.11 with tax for a quarter pounder combo.
I can get a whole pizza from pizza pizza that’ll last 2 meals for same price
Depending on what restaurant/pub/bar you go to, you can usually find a few deals that are better priced than other stuff on the menu. The one place back where I used to live, their plate of nachos was a steal.
Red Hot Ranch smash burger and fries is less than $8 and blows this out of the water.
Edit: OP conveniently left out it was part of a beer and burger special
You need to order a fresh beer. See, you drank half of that one and it's throwing the whole size/scale comparison off, I can't get the right perspective.
What city? I'm used to Montreal (I go between there and S FL) and that seems cheap, though I don't know the quality. In S FL I'm usually in Boca, where prices are very high.
Burger looks cooked well, veggies look fresh. I think it’s a good value. Not really sure what the insinuation is. Is this a good or bad burger in your opinion?
A burger for $6 Canadian? Canadian here just to point out… this is an extremely rare and good deal. Anywhere in Toronto you’re paying $15-$25 for pretty much any burger.
This is equal to $4.36 US.
I don't know of a single sandwich I can buy for 50 miles in any direction for less than twice that.
Canada appeals more and more each day.
Cheaper than fast food. Not bad. Makes me think it's a bit of a loss leader, and they are counting on you sticking around longer and drinking more to make up for it.
That looks pretty good compared to the 19 dollar burger I got today they named it "the heart attack burger" and I think it's because of the price not because what was on it,it had a single patty some pastrami a single slice of American cheese spinach instead of lettuce, mushrooms, tomato, grilled onions and their special sauce
I had some wisdom teeth removed a few days ago and been on fluids/extremely soft food since then. I have never been more hungry as I am now after seeing this pic and price.
Bulgarian here (poorest country in the EU), there is a place here that serves exactly the same (the checkered thingie, the burger, sauces) except the beer and it costs 27$ 😂
£3.43 for a burger, is a damn good price. If the beer is the same price, then that place is a bargain. Is it a proper pint or the short measure pint the US uses?
I can get a beer for £3 near me,but a pub is going to charge at least £9 for the burger plus chips.
Also in Canada, the other day I paid about $30 for a beer and burger that I was told ‘was by far our most popular and best meal’ it came out with Kraft single on it, a slice of maple leaf ham and pickles that had to be No Name brand. Not only can I make a better burger at home, it’ll cost me way less too.
Am I wrong for saying that looks like a pretty solid deal? I'm not sure if I'm meant to be impressed or bothered by this. Also, that's a weird looking pint glass, maybe that's what's throwing off my size perception?
One good thing about living in Upper Michigan, $2 pint with a $5 burger, this is a $7 dollar meal as pictured in my area. At my SoCal offices ... this would be a $7 pint, and a $12 burger ... $19 total.
I guess my only question would be is, how much are French fries? Looks like just the burger. That being said still a good deal. And with 2 burgers I probably wouldn’t need fries
The real question is, how much was the beer? Bars have food specials they sell for a loss but with inflated (and watered down) beer prices.
But still a great deal. For reference, a Quarter Pounder from McDonald's is $8 CAD these days
Considering how negative and delusional people online tend to be...I'm not sure if this is supposed to be showing off bad value or good value. Given the picture and conversion rates, this seems like a pretty decent value--cheaper than an inferior fast food burger.
This is showing off good value to me! I'd be recommending this place to people haha
For $6? Hell yeah, USD or CAD it's a good deal either way I'd pay extra for cheese though
Cheese it's $14
Bring your own lmao
Absolutely..
I saw this thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1d9k6p4/this_is_a_4_sandwich_at_mcdonalds_wallet_shown/ about a week ago and wanted to share the quality for the price as a comparison, really.
The beer was also $6, though, wasn't it?
That's pretty cheap for Canadian beer. I'm betting $9-12 unless it's at a sporting arena, then add another $10.
Nah, if the burgers are only 6 bucks. I bet the beer was a reasonable (for a bar) price.
[удалено]
$6 is reasonable for a pint where I live. It’s normally $8-$9
Oh yeah yours is definitely better than that sorry thing they call a burger/sandwich in that post lmao
It was sad, but it was a breakfast sandwich-egg, cheese, and bacon.
It was also a McGriddle, which has always been more expensive than the regular breakfast sandwiches. Yeah, shit’s become expensive but that McDonald’s post was just pure dishonest rage-bait.
Yep. And $4 for probably 500 calories isn’t awful
Where is this?
the year 2000

You lost me at marked up potatoes, then brought me back in on the “fuck marked up potatoes” party Had me in the first half, ngl
Crazy how much they up-charge a slice of cheese these days
You can’t buy anything for 6 bucks in Canada.
Well technically a large McDicks fries with tax is about 6 bucks…but yeah, you’re not entirely wrong
i would say amazing value, in rural iowa at the place my mother but soon to be me owns... our cheapest burger (all 6oz) are 5.75$ and thats a hamburger, cheeseburger is 6.25.
"..., in rural iowa at the place my mother but soon to be me owns..." Whaty-what-what?
Sorry it's night and I'm tired what I mean is, my family (mother) have run the place since 2003, I'm finally taking the reigns officially next week as owner.

😂
Yeah this looks insane cheap.
This is an incredible value at a sports bar. That is a real substantial Burger, the last two times I have gone out to eat the bill has been near $100.
It's incredible price for a slider, let alone a moderately sized burger.
The real problem is no banana for scale
In Canada a pint of beer is the proper item to use for scale.
I generally don't complain about the prices when eating out (I feel like it's always been expensive), but this looks like a helluva deal to me. Spread the good word and drum up some business for this place, they're doing it right.
Is this the normal price? I’m happy to get a burger for less than $10 anywhere nowadays!
Every Thursday!
What city? Or pub name? Ok with pm if that's better
I think it’s the Lockeroom in Barrie, Ontario. Based on his post history, I’m also local to it and know that Thursday is burger special night at the lockeroom.
Yep, you got it. Thursday burger at the Lockeroom. I should add that to my top post.
And $2 extra for fries, the lockerroom was my local when I lived in Barrie, $9 for a 30 oz pitcher of premium beer too
Well damn. As a fellow Barrie-ite you're probably gonna be seeing me next Thursday lol.
Ahhh barrie. 🥲
no way i live around the corner from them. never been. i've heard its great food
Should've been included in the title tbh..gotta promote these places.
Locker room ?
The math there is that their wholesaler delivers meat and veg on Friday for the weekend rush. Tuesday-Thursday discount nights move stock before it goes bad and/or new supplies arrive.
I call it the Columbus lunch. The pint and burger amount to $14.92. Edit: Thursday burger at the Lockeroom in Barrie, ON.
A pint is $9?
Pretty standard cost for a pint of decent beer in Canadian cities.
Maybe after tax. I’d assume the burger was 6 pre-tax, which would put the pint at about 6-7 pre-tax as well
They mentioned it's in CAD, so about $7 USD.. pretty standard these days unless it's a bud light or Modelo draft.
most places I went to the last time I was in Seattle were charging $9 USD for pretty much any beer. the cheapest one I found was $7. much cheaper to drink in Vancouver, which is just a **wild** thing to even say out loud.
Currently a beer drink in Seattle, can confirm. Even shitty draft beer is overpriced. Rainer tall boys though, you can get those cheap
Was the burger conditional on the pint?
Nope. There's even free popcorn.
Very nice.
Bars always have free cheap salty snacks (popcorn, peanuts) because it makes you thirsty for alcohol and costs them hardly anything
Some bars sometimes have free snacks. I would say the ones that do are by far in the minority in my experience.
Makes me miss the $5 burger and brew at the Camby back in the day.
Ah classic locker room, do they still do those mega tall pitchers?
Columbus like the Ohio city?
That burger alone would be $14.92 down here in Toronto 😂 On the other hand, in order to get this deal you have to live in Barrie - a trade which is simply not worth it in my eyes.
Not sure about the conversation rate from US to Canadian but $6 doesn’t seem that bad. Looks like a typical shitty bar burger that definitely would hit the spot after a few beers.
Apparently it’s $4.36 USD. I’d expect to pay $8-10 USD for that burger, probably even more tbh.
To put it into perspective, a Quarter Pounder with Cheese meal at McDonalds in Vancouver, BC is $15 CAD.
I can’t think of a single time McDonalds has ever tasted $15 good.
not a single item but... 5 mcdoubles 🤤
Mcdoubles go very hard for their price.
bro when you decide that your going to get like a bunch of mcdoubles or jr chickens... damn dopamine overload but i *will* shit my guts out
or both! mmmm the mcgangbang, an instant classic
oh ya every time but i always end up with more mcdoubles like ill do 5 mcdoubles and like 4 or 3 jr chickens just for a change of pace
What I'm hearing is that you've never smoked weed.
maccas ain't $15 good even when blasted
Ya just checked. Toronto it’s $14.11 with tax for a quarter pounder combo. I can get a whole pizza from pizza pizza that’ll last 2 meals for same price
Well fuck *that* shit
Can you recommend any good burger spots in Vancouver?
What the fuck?!
That looks like $14, maybe $15 USD + tip n tax to me
A lot of bars honestly sell their food for minimal margins. It’s just there to keep you buying more booze, where the real money is to be made.
Damn I wish my bars were like that lol
I pay more for less in Poland. That's awesome burger.
Most burgers in Canada cost $20+
$2.6m per burger probably
Depending on what restaurant/pub/bar you go to, you can usually find a few deals that are better priced than other stuff on the menu. The one place back where I used to live, their plate of nachos was a steal.
To be honest in Australia I wouldn’t even blink paying $20 (US$13) for a burger like the one in OPs post.
[удалено]
Red Hot Ranch smash burger and fries is less than $8 and blows this out of the water. Edit: OP conveniently left out it was part of a beer and burger special
is the bar shitty or the burger?
Most places that's $6 worth of sauce on the side
Compared to most modern pricing, that’s a great deal for a burger.
In Seattle that’s a $14 burger.
How was it?
It was delicious; it's a go-to for me. I probably could've prettied up the burger a bit before taking the pic but I was hungry.
You need to order a fresh beer. See, you drank half of that one and it's throwing the whole size/scale comparison off, I can't get the right perspective.
What’s throwing things off is the lack of banana.
I KNEW something was missing!!!
I know. Those Bubble Stash's sure are tasty though.
Please enjoy one for me! I am 20+ yrs clean and sober.
What restaurant?
Cool, where is this at?
I'm lost. Where's the banana?
$6 Canadian is like $4.40 US. So this is an amazing value. A cheap fucking whopper near me is lik $6.50, and that's essentially chewing cardboard.
The Lockeroom in Barrie?
Where cheese
What city and province is this sports bar located?
How big is the pint? Does Canada use the smaller US pint or the larger UK pint. You need a banana.
That's a great deal. Now tell me, is that a radish on top of the tomato?
That's a great deal. If I ever end up in Barrie on a Thursday I know where I'm going.
That’s a $12.00 burger all day long anywhere you go in my area.
Where in Canada exactly? This would easily be $15+ for the burger & $12+ for the pint in southern Ontario.
The Lockeroom in Barrie. I don't know how they make any money on the burger tbh.
A burger for $6 Canadian? Canadian here just to point out… this is an extremely rare and good deal. Anywhere in Toronto you’re paying $15-$25 for pretty much any burger.
Wow - I know where I'm going if I'm in Barrie on a Thursday!!

Just had a cheese burger in NYC, $35 USD + tax + 20% tips. Casual dinning.
I never said doubles, Randy! I never said doubles!
Beer and a burger for $6?? Sign me up, even if the burger is mid. From CA btw
Where is this? Burgers are $9 at MacDonalds
Back in my day we would mix in horse meat to really bring the price down!
I'd still eat it 😁
Wow. That would be 20$ at McDonalds now...
loss leader
Whats the name of the bar?
Cheaper than fast food. Not bad. Makes me think it's a bit of a loss leader, and they are counting on you sticking around longer and drinking more to make up for it.
I'm in Washington state, restaurant prices are insane. I'd drive to Canada for this, where exactly do I need to go?
Hell yeah brother
Looks like great value to me. That would cost like 25 bucks Australian if it came with chips
That’s an insane deal considering burgers average now $17-26 in any Resturant besides the shitty fast food chains
No cheese you monster!?
looks like a good deal but.. how much to add fries??
good luck even finding a burger for 6.59 AUD in australia. spend minimum 10 AUD and thats just one patty, mayo, ketchup and lettuce.
In Australia the burger and beer would be about $30 AUD
Burger looks good id eat that 🤷
Please tell me this is somewhere in Ottawa
That looks pretty good compared to the 19 dollar burger I got today they named it "the heart attack burger" and I think it's because of the price not because what was on it,it had a single patty some pastrami a single slice of American cheese spinach instead of lettuce, mushrooms, tomato, grilled onions and their special sauce
Whopper is $6. This looks deelish!
That seems unbelievably cheap for today’s prices. The burger looks pretty good too!
Yeah that would easily be £10-£12 in England so that’s a good old deal there.
It really is amazing how far some computer aided design software has come!
That looks pretty good
For 6 Moosebucks, that's a great meal.
Later that day infront of the mirror: im getting fat *tries to suck it in and gives up*
I had some wisdom teeth removed a few days ago and been on fluids/extremely soft food since then. I have never been more hungry as I am now after seeing this pic and price.
2011 was the year you ordered the burger , 2012 was the year you got it , yeah?
Fast food close to me wouldchatrge about 2p percent more 😑
Respectable meal.
Ah I’d absolutely demolish that, that’s good value in my opinion lol
That’s fucking cheap LOL. I paid 31£ the other day for a burger, two fries and a milkshake at Shake Shack in London.
For 6 CAD $ you would get a paper thin burger, a cheap and stale bun in Croatia. This looks delicious

Cheaper than McDonalds
Am I wrong for saying that looks like a pretty solid deal? I'm not sure if I'm meant to be impressed or bothered by this. Also, that's a weird looking pint glass, maybe that's what's throwing off my size perception?
That price is not representative of Canada at all.
That looks amazing!
A double with all the fixings for $6? Uh, hell yes. You'd get me coming back at least twice a week.
Considering it costs $18 Canadian for a combo from McDonald's... Great value.
Not in California I’ll tell you that
Are you complaining or bragging? Can’t tell anymore
A beer would cost more than the whole meal in Sweden.
It comes in pints? I’m getting one!
Id pay £8-9 in England, which is the equivalent of ~15Cad This is worth £3.40 in english dollars. Banging deal there. Id order 3
Where is that from?
Looks like a good deal, but they stiffed you with only half a pint!
I'm not sure where this is, but I like Chuck's Roadhouse. Half price apps after 9pm, and I can do date night with the GF for under $40 with drinks.
Half of a pint of beer
Not bad at all
One good thing about living in Upper Michigan, $2 pint with a $5 burger, this is a $7 dollar meal as pictured in my area. At my SoCal offices ... this would be a $7 pint, and a $12 burger ... $19 total.
Damn that’s nice for the price especially in today economy. I need to find this sports bar.
You can’t get a shitty McDonald’s burger for that hardly
That would be 300 nok or around $38 CAD here in Norway.😬
I guess my only question would be is, how much are French fries? Looks like just the burger. That being said still a good deal. And with 2 burgers I probably wouldn’t need fries
I would eat the fuck out of this.
Looks damn good to me
the secret’s in the meat! (it’s people)
Holy fuck. I can’t get a double cheeseburger from McDonald’s for less than $5. *cries in Californian*
Wtf, can't find a burger remotely close to that in NY
Good value. $6, and it has double meats in it.you would be paying almost double the price for other known name brand burgers!
The real question is, how much was the beer? Bars have food specials they sell for a loss but with inflated (and watered down) beer prices. But still a great deal. For reference, a Quarter Pounder from McDonald's is $8 CAD these days
I mean considering how much a Culvers burger is that is actually a good value.
With double beef.. awesome deal Would be at least double the price here in Germany
What a deal, wow! Looks delicious!
Right
That is good value USD or CAD. It is a loss leader to get you to drink more beer. Just like a grocery store.
Seems great value to me. Wish I had that for 6€ over here
Is the glass larger than a pint? Not sure why the fill level line would be below the top of the glass otherwise.
Wow that’s a good deal.
