Like yes. No one is saying anyone’s feelings and preferences are invalid. Just that they are manufactured. They’re still your preferences though. It’s perfectly possible to acknowledge some of our preferences are based on bad things due to biased upbringing, and still have those preferences.
It’s only bad when people shove their fingers in their ears and refuse to acknowledge the bigger picture. Because that’s when harmful stereotypes and beliefs are allowed to linger and fester beyond our generation.
I’d make jokes about anyone and expect the same in return. People aren’t actually so fragile regarding a joke about having sweaty armpits - but this is of course Reddit.
