One of my previous post has all the details but summary I got it done in Turkey for around £1200 for the treatment and another £800 for flights and hotel
It's why Americans seek this kind of cosmetic work outside of our country. The system is absolutely horrendous to the point it's literally cheaper anywhere else.
it's a lot like getting a tattoo. you want someone with the basic skill of relocating the hair, but also someone with some art skills. it matters who's doing it
Turkey has become famous for this treatment. Not only is it relative inexpensive, they are known to be the best in the world because they do so many. Even North Americans go get it done there.
Yes it’s the same for Nose corrections or correcting your eyes through laser surgery, at the airport in Istanbul you’ll see hundreds of people who just got a hair transplantation or nose correction looks really funny
Would you happen to know what country is best for dental tourism? I have terrible teeth and I wanted to get veneers, last I checked in the US it was $15,000
I'm in Mexico, and lots of people come here for all sorts of medical work. I'm thinking of hair replacement here. Tijuana has a huge medical tourism industry
I can't speak about many other countries, but Kazakhstan has been amazing in this regard. My wife's dental bill used to be an onsane pain for the longest time (terrible luck with teeth), yet here the doctors are very good and the prices are super manageable.
Costa Rica. Love my dentist there. He opened up an office in Cancun during the pandemic, as Costa Rica closed entry for awhile. Now I have 2 choices for locations, easily accessed from the US. He trained at UCLA; spotless offices, free transport. I can work in a vacation and still spend way less than in the US.
Do not have an answer for you, but will say that my wife is from a foreign country and needed work done. Quote was nearly $6k. We instead went to her home country, had it done for $200, explored a bunch, visited her family for over a week, and the entire 2.5 week trip cost half of what just the dental work in the U.S. would have.
Sorry but this is complete bullshit. They’re not “the best in the world” they’re just really cheap. They often harvest too much hair leaving the back and Sadie’s of your head compromised and scarred. They’re implant success rate is typically lower than the top places in the USA because the techniques are a little behind (especially with FUE). They also do the implants in a very unnatural way, often straight lines along the hairline and don’t factor in dispersement throughout the hair so that as normal hair thins, you’re not left with a line of perfect hair at the front.
The big difference however is a 10x cost; the same procedure in LA or NYC will cost $12,000
If you want a basic but decent job for cheap then Turkey is great, if you want the bets work possible then you don’t go to Turkey.
I don't think most doctors in LA or NYC will even talk to you for less than a few thousand grafts, so probably at least $15k-20k. OP's picture looks like at least 5000 grafts, so at least 25-30k in those cities, but I'm not a doctor. Techs tend to do all the work while the doctors go in and out during the procedure. If I had to a do a drastic set of implants, I'd probably do a top doctor/practice in some flyover state
Manager at my previous job did the same. Turkey is a popular destination for this type of thing as it's far cheaper and you can get it done fairly quickly.
Turkey, India, Thailand are places for medical tourism. A friend of mine works for a dental chain in Mumbai and gets clients to do their complete dental haul from really top notch dentists for a fraction of the cost in US/uK/australia.
Dentist here, you need to be careful with dental tourism. There have been so many cases of patients that go to Turkey and come back with 28 crowns, which is nowhere near the appropriate treatment for those patients. It's really unfortunate because now those patients have a lifetime of dental issues ahead of them, and likely have to spend more money to fix the problems than if they just had the proper treatment done in the first place.
The only time things change in this country are when the wealthiest .01% shows a little empathy every once in a while…keeps the guillotines from getting sharpened….
It's like a thing to go there and have this done. I'm in Finland and you can set up a plan with clinics here even, where they have deals with places there and you get packages deals and stuff.
What was the name of the clinic? I'm from the States and am (thankfully) only thinning at 40, but my brother is nearly bald and has severe confidence issues because of it. It would be nice to take a family trip to Turkey!
I did the same thing. I went through a cycle where I shaved my head for a few months only to decide to try growing hair again, being upset with how thin it was, and then shaving again.
How many grafts did you get?
I was so scared to shave, my hair was my identity. But it got to a point where it was a comb over and I was having anxiety. So I figured the anxiety of shaving and showing the world was easier than living with an obvious lie on my head for ever.
It took about 6 months for me to feel confident shaved, but now I have exponentially more confidence than ever before. I really don't even want my hair back I like it like this
Seems like you made the right decision. You said you did it in turkey for lime 1200, seems like a good deal. What's the best way to get in contact with a clinic like that? I'm in Germany and only 26 but my hairline isn't looking too great so I'm considering it for the future.
Surprisingly it works for black hair. Friend of mine went during the height of covid and it looks really good.
He looked crazy for the first few months but now it looks natural.
Lebron's looks awful because he tried to bring back too much of his hairline. So he's got a baldspot above his new hairline.
You're supposed to fill in slowly. That dude tried to use a transplant as a lineup lol
If anything it should work better as black hair generally consists of thicker strands, so density will look better. Some examples of black people that have gotten hair transplants are Lewis Hamilton, Jamie Foxx and Kanye. Although Knaye had very little done.
I imagine the poster went with FUE since they have short hair, the recovery isn't too bad because it's a bunch of small holes that close up pretty quickly. You will still have a few weeks of discomfort. The other method is FUT and has a much rougher recovery because they take a strip of flesh from the back of your head. FUT is most commonly used for long hair because the hair will hide the scar. Plus it doesn't require hair being buzzed short where as FUE requires hair to be buzzed.
The main advantage of FUT is a higher success rate, whereas FUE if done well won't have visible scarring.
That's not too bad, a nose job takes almost a year
Edit: Depending on the extent of your procedure it may take 4-6 weeks for the majority of swelling to subside. However, some degree of swelling could continue for up to 1 year 1 year post surgery. Numbness or abnormal skin sensation around your nose may also occur for as long as 3-6 months.
Ok? Idk man I'm not an expert.
If it’s FUT they just take a strip, if it’s FUE they’ll take follicles from all over but not all of them, they’ll still leave enough for there to be good density, and based on how short op’s hair is I’d guess it was FUE because FUT would leave a visible scar with hair as short as op’s
From what I've read hair density can decrease by 50% and not be noticeable by most people. As long as it's enough to cover the scalp it looks normal. Then the hairs from the back and sides aren't as susceptible to those hair loss hormones so if they survive the recovery from transplant they tend to last.
The hair on the back of the head is oders of magnitude more dense than the hair on the top of the head, even when you ahve a full head of hair. You also never lose the hairs on the back of the head, the follicles are more resustant to DHT, which causes MPB, so the transplanted hairs will never go either.
Some people show very slightt signs of scarring at the back of the head when the hair is cut very short, it might appear like small bumps or slightly red, or just very slightly thinner in patches, but generally you can’t see it unless you have like a skin fade, and even then it is really hard to notice.
Someone above said that you need to take pills for the rest of your life after getting it done. Is this true? Is it finasteride? If so is it killing your libido? The hair growth pills kinda scare me.
I did take Finasteride before the treatment and it did give me libido issues, stopped and it returned to normal. Now I use rogaine, Which is minoxidil hair cream, and I haven’t had any issues since.
No need for anti-rejection medications as this is a transplant from your own scalp—typically the back of the head. Those follicles aren’t as sensitive to testosterone (DHT) and will resist hair loss.
The pills prescribed are regular hair loss prevention pills, finasteride (also used for prostate issues). Topical minoxidil is recommended as well.
Is that something you need to take for life now or is that just temporary also?
It's interesting learning about these things from someone who has experienced it first hand.
This is not true. Hair is transplanted from parts of the head well outside the pattern baldness zone like the lower back of the head, or even from other parts of the body. Hair follicles in this region lacks the receptors sensitive to male hormones, which is why it doesn't fall out in pretty much every person with male pattern baldness.
Very very rarely, if for some reason there was further reduction after transplant, the dr might recommend finasteride. But this is virtually never, it's just not necessary as evidenced that people with untreated pattern baldness lose almost no hair at the lower back and sides of their head
My hair has been receding little by little over last 10 years. I started Finasteride a few years ago to hopefully slow or stop the receding but very thin in the front. I want to get a transplant some day but I've read if you do it while your hair is still receding, you will develop patches or lines between your transplant and original hairline. Is that true?
I've heard this to. It makes sense though because they wouldn't transplant your whole head, just what has receeded. They can't tell how much it will eventually receed. You'll have a nice patch in the front, but then a bald spot behind it when you're other hairs everywhere fall out
Not wanting you to advertise what company that you had it done at, but can I ask where you had it done? What about the cost etcetera also please if you would be so kind
Check out my post when I got it done. I pretty much explain who I got it with and how much for.
Total cost was around £2k with flights and hotel in Turkey, I got an amazing deal to be honest.
I wish more men my age would treat themselves and get this procedure done. Like if girls can get bigger boobs and botox then men can have flowing locks!
Dude, you were blessed with a seemingly round head and wouldn't have looked bad shaved. I'm cursed with an oblong egg, and I still just shave it off. I still have a great beard though, lol.
Whatever makes *you* the happiest is the right option. I'm stoked for you, this does look great.
Damn, I've got a relatively small patch of thinning hair coming through on the back of my head. Don't want to get anything done yet as I'd rather wait and see how much worse it could get (I'm 30). But I always assumed it would be mega expensive and I probably wouldn't get it done. Seeing how great a job you've had for just £1200 is seriously good news. Congrats man, it looks great.
Congrats, can you go into detail about continuous meds needed? Do you have to take Finestride forever? After a few years I stopped taking it due to side effects like brain fog
Literally cost. Like they said, hence going to Turkey.
Not everyone has disposable income for things like Hair Transplant treatments. For some a toupee is the best they can do.
>I can always tell if it's a toupee
And not to be rude, but, really who cares if you can tell? Who are you and why would your opinion matter? It's not about you, it's about the person feeling more comfortable with it on.
Because this is an operation that costs a lot of money, its painful, can give you nasty infections and you have to take pills with various side effects for the rest of your life to prevent further hair loss.
Better comparison to a toupet is probably just shaving it off.
You do not need to take drugs (except recommended antibiotic post surgery etc) to maintain a hair transplant. This is because the follicles are taken from zones that are not male hormone sensitive (aka the parts of the head virtually no men lose hair from).
Risk of "nasty infections" is no different than that of other minor cosmetic surgery - ensure you are going to a doctor with a decent reputation in a country with high medical standards, and that you follow post surgery protocol carefully (taking any recommended post-surgery meds until completion, and immediately getting anything concerning looked at).

For such an amazing result it seems like a small price toupee.
Fuck
It's all about finding the right plug.
Got to get to the root of the problem.
Otherwise, you may end up in a hairy situation.

Tons of people from Europe go to Turkey too for the same treatment. For some reason, it's really good and really cheap over there.
I once had a barber who was from Turkey. He told me it was a 4+ year apprenticeship.
There are a lot of horror stories coming out of Turkey as well though, so make sure to do some research.
well done my friend, well done.
Lol it took me too long to figure out this comment 😂
Hilarious
Brilliant reply 😂
Well fucking done.
The rest of you don’t even bother, for this is the pun king!
Did you go there because it was cheaper or are you from Turkey? Curious how much it would be in the US.
Went for the price, I’m from the UK. And I’m the UK it would cost 5 times as much to get it down here. :)
Is that for basically the same quality?
Probably better in turkey tbh.
Turkish rugs are of the highest quality.
My friend, my friend, for you I have best price.
it's a lot like getting a tattoo. you want someone with the basic skill of relocating the hair, but also someone with some art skills. it matters who's doing it
The expectation is that if it goes wrong once you're back you can make the NHS put it right.

There are tons of great places in Mexico.

Turkey is also the best for this.
Nose correction the same as a nose job or something more specific?
Yes
Well they *are* known for high quality rugs
Men and women?

Yeah I looked into it a couple years ago. Was going to be at least $13K and pretty much had to pay it all upfront.
Might as well take a nice European vacation and get it done in Turkey and still save money.
Manager at my previous job did the same. Turkey is a popular destination for this type of thing as it's far cheaper and you can get it done fairly quickly.

*28 crowns* I think the youngsters call that a grill.
Growing up around the border saves a lot on medical costs (like braces) and prescriptions. Man Fnck the US healthcare system….
Mark Cuban is trying to change that isn't he?
The only time things change in this country are when the wealthiest .01% shows a little empathy every once in a while…keeps the guillotines from getting sharpened….
You can add Colombia to that list as well for plastic and dental work.
Just to do my hairline is around 4 grand I think

you're a good bro.
You say he's nearly bald; he can't really do a transplant if he can't provide enough donor hair.
Have him get into bodybuilding and turn into Mr. Clean. Probably cheaper and better for his confidence.
Can you PM me the clinic you used?
Turkish Hairlines
fucking LOL
Game, set and thatch.
💀
Goddamn, this killed me, I am dead.
/thread
And maybe me also? Is it afsonet the rules to give the name here?
Damn dude, you gained like 10 years of youth with the new hair that's awesome. Left pic looks like 40+, right looks like 25-30.
So ridiculously cheap!
Can i get the contact info and name of the clinic etcc
How painful was it the following days and how long for it to subside? How's your confidence now that you have your hair back?
Ah man, my husband just had this done in the states to the tune of $13k (USD)! I hope his results yield like yours, looks good.
I swear Turkey has the best hair transplants. Any time I find out about someone having one and it looks good, that's where they got it.
That's a good price
Shave it all off, grow a beard and acquire a taste for expensive coffee. Problem solved
I'm an IPA connoisseur, but yeah pretty much.
Problem if your beard growth is shitty and got holes :D
Damn that looks good. I totally respect it when people say "accept it and shave your head." But you look great.
I did accept and shave for a year before I pulled the trigger. Guess I never fully accepted
USA. Also interested. How did you set up the appointment and stuff? Do you have the surgeons name and clinic or hospital etc?
Elon Mush certainly did not accept his fate. Hairy man looks better than bald unless you got Dwayne Johnson skull.
Lol, Elon Mush
They did a great job! It looks natural. Congrats!
Thanks :)
How long did the procedure take?
Do you feel better now?
100%. I know it varies from person to person. But I no longer get a sinking feeling in my stomach when I look in the mirror
Even with hair I'd still get that 😔
Cover your whole body in hair
Return to monke
I did it too about 3 years ago. Amazing change. I sold some part of my bitcoin a 7500 USD -that time price- to buy it and don't regret it at all!
Where did you get the surgery at ?
Curious how this would work for African American hair because at 33 if I let my hair grow out I end up looking like George Jefferson
Surprisingly it works for black hair. Friend of mine went during the height of covid and it looks really good. He looked crazy for the first few months but now it looks natural.
That’s awesome, I’ve gotta look into it now lol
I mean, it worked for Lebron...
And Lewis....
Lebron's looks awful because he tried to bring back too much of his hairline. So he's got a baldspot above his new hairline. You're supposed to fill in slowly. That dude tried to use a transplant as a lineup lol
LeBron's isn't great. Look at Jamie Foxx before and after, that plastic surgeon is a god.
Kanye had a god tier transplant too. I don’t think anyone has ever even mentioned it, mostly because it was very small, but it was great still.
If anything it should work better as black hair generally consists of thicker strands, so density will look better. Some examples of black people that have gotten hair transplants are Lewis Hamilton, Jamie Foxx and Kanye. Although Knaye had very little done.
Saw many black people at the Istanbul airport going back home having received their treatment, I believe it works for that kind of hair too.
Saw on twitter a post like this for a black man who did the procedure. Looked just as good.
I was in turkey few months ago, a lot of Africans there for hair and dental.
Natural Hair Transplants specializes in Black hair my man. They have offices in Baltimore and Somewhere in Florida as well
I see you brought back an evil eye (Nazar Boncuk) charm from your travels too!
Surprised theres no comments about pain, how bad is it?
No pain during the procedure. It was about 3 weeks of tough night sleeps. Pin was manageable with normal antiflamatories
The main advantage of FUT is a higher success rate, whereas FUE if done well won't have visible scarring.
How long did you have to go before it looked presentable? Is there a long healing period?
Took about 3 months before it was presentable in my opinion. You have to go through an ugly duckling phase
That's not too bad, a nose job takes almost a year Edit: Depending on the extent of your procedure it may take 4-6 weeks for the majority of swelling to subside. However, some degree of swelling could continue for up to 1 year 1 year post surgery. Numbness or abnormal skin sensation around your nose may also occur for as long as 3-6 months. Ok? Idk man I'm not an expert.
He has posts with progress and post op images. Interesting to see these. Looks bad at first but a few months can go by pretty quick.
I can get through two blow jobs in a couple of minutes.
Try some jaw exercises until you can fit two at once. Efficiency.
Can you wear hats during that time?
Not for 4 weeks. 3 months is a bit OTT. His old hair would grow back pretty quickly, it's the transplanted hair that takes a while to come through
And no wearing a hat for a while, right? Did you just stay indoors or something? I would!
Cool picture man. I’d trust you with my car keys.
Thanks. I trust you too kind stranger
Thanks! So...can I have those car keys now?
From mug shot to golfer
It’s sad that this is so true.
Is it like normal hair? Does it grow, can you comb it and wash it normally? It looks good.
Grows normally, taken from the back of my head. Comb, wash and cut it as you would :)
Will the back of your head go bald? You are removing the whole follicles right? So it would not grow back?
If it’s FUT they just take a strip, if it’s FUE they’ll take follicles from all over but not all of them, they’ll still leave enough for there to be good density, and based on how short op’s hair is I’d guess it was FUE because FUT would leave a visible scar with hair as short as op’s

There is yet hope for man.
Can you DM me where in turkey you went? Will save for later.
Looks really good on you, congratulations.
Thank you
Looks great man.

The pills prescribed are regular hair loss prevention pills, finasteride (also used for prostate issues). Topical minoxidil is recommended as well.
No, not at all and the cream I use is by choice, not necessary
It's your own hair, immune suppressants are only needed when you get organs from another person.
Afaik the pills are not for the transplanted hair. Their are for the natural so it stays as it is and you dont enf up with missing hair on the top.
Is that something you need to take for life now or is that just temporary also? It's interesting learning about these things from someone who has experienced it first hand.
Yes, it's not a cure, it's ongoing treatment. I'm taking finasteride for 15 years without noticeable side effects

How does this work after? Is it forver or do you have to touch it up or???
Forever and a day :D
Small world
Hey Robin, how you doing mate?
Thanks for that, I will check more in depth myself, the job looks absolutely fantastic, good on you 👍
Thank you! Appreciate the support
Someone in this thread booking a flight to turkey rn.
Did you use Lebrons guy? Looks good!
I wish more men my age would treat themselves and get this procedure done. Like if girls can get bigger boobs and botox then men can have flowing locks!
Handsome before and after
Thank you :)
Dude, you were blessed with a seemingly round head and wouldn't have looked bad shaved. I'm cursed with an oblong egg, and I still just shave it off. I still have a great beard though, lol. Whatever makes *you* the happiest is the right option. I'm stoked for you, this does look great.
Yeah sadly the round head didn’t suffice haha
Looks good
Hope it helps you feel good :) enjoy!
Can you share a picture of the back or sides of your head?
I can do! And will do
Not even in my mid twentys and i have the same problem. Sadly I can't afford a transplantation. Happy for you tho.
Looking great. Your doc did a terrific job in restoring a natural looking hairline.
Thank you for flying Turkish Hairlines I hope you enjoyed your trip
Looks natural, why would someone get a toupee. I can always tell if it's a toupee
But if it’s a good toupee and you can’t tell, how would you know that you can’t tell?
Thank you :)
Congrats, can you go into detail about continuous meds needed? Do you have to take Finestride forever? After a few years I stopped taking it due to side effects like brain fog
You can always tell when it’s a bad toupee. A good toupee just looks like the person has hair.
Literally cost. Like they said, hence going to Turkey. Not everyone has disposable income for things like Hair Transplant treatments. For some a toupee is the best they can do. >I can always tell if it's a toupee And not to be rude, but, really who cares if you can tell?

I am guessing he’s taking about finasteride but I take those anyway with no hair transplant done.
Finasteride is probably the most famous one.
Bullshit about the pills
Looks great! What was the cost $$$ ?
Dimoxinyl!!!! Looks great man
What was your ranking on the norwood scale? That’s impressive that they were able to restore it with not much hair to work with.
