Like how Hitachi makes everything from cranes and missile launchers to CD drives. And yet tons of people in the West primarily know them for a certain "vibrating massager".
PACCAR, also owns Kenworth.
Mack/Volvo also, Freightliner/Alliance/Detroit Diesel(also known as DTNA, Daimler Trucks North America).
Then of course there is the Sprinter Van, which depending on where you bought it will have either a Freightliner, Dodge or Mercedes Benz badge on it. Same vehicle though.
The heavy trucking industry is an incestuous bunch.
I bought the simplest Kia Picanto in the world. It doesnt even have electric windows. But its the cheapest car on the market, and its a relatively new car. And reliable. Other brands dont sell cars like this and its exactly what I need.
[Ahem](https://i.imgur.com/DpQ9YJl.png).
That article talks about the Electric Transit, which is a Ford Transit with electric motors. The picture from OP and in that article / video is of a Ford Transit Connect, which is a [different vehicle](https://www.greatlakesfordofmuskegon.net/research/ford-transit-vs-transit-connect.htm).
Transits are much bigger than Transit Connects. Not only has Ford not announced any plans to make an electric Transit Connect, that same site reports that [Ford is done making Transit Connects](https://www.torquenews.com/3769/ford-halt-sales-transit-connects-next-year).
Also, here's a shot of [the ass of my own gasoline Transit Connect](https://imgur.com/yQXhv5U). It too, has no visable exhaust pipe and I promise you it gets thirsty.
I skimmed the video, but I didn't hear of any talk about the van to confirm or deny it being electric, but Ford's not electrifying those cars, and Tesla retrofitting someone else's car with their motors seems crazy (but I supposed it's possible - but it also means that every single one would have to be serviced by Tesla, vs traditional Transit Connects can be worked on by anybody - even a guy working out of his garage).
It's more likely that Tesla simply bought a practical fleet vehicle a ton of other companies already use (to the point that there's an entire pre-existing ecosystem of "just bolt it in" bulkheads, shelving, power distribution, etc) - and then put their logo on it. Cause that would look the exact same as this does.
I mean does Lamborghini have "Service" Lamborghinis?
The executive team of Spirit airlines flies on private jets.
It's a silly joke but Tesla doesn't make box trucks so why would they try to put a round peg in a square hole?
Tesla should buy one of the companies that are already knee deep into bringing an electric van to market. Canoo is getting ready to ramp up production. Arrival is getting ready to capitalize on their van contract with Walmart. And Rivian is already delivering for Amazon. Rivian aside, I think Tesla could possibly step in and make a deal with Arrival or Canoo for service vehicles at the minimum.
You joke - but many Lamborghini dealers do better! High-worth clients to more prestigious dealers will have their lead technicians shipped out at a moment's notice to service their cars. Other, "normal" Lamborghinis already in the shop would be put on hold if a client in rural Montana or Monaco needed service.
Source: owned two Lamborghinis and had the privilege of working with the two most tenured technicians with the brand in North America. They had many fun stories to share of wild owner experiences.
>You joke - but many Lamborghini dealers do better!
Ah I'm sure they fly in on Lamborghini planes, where the parts are shipped by Lamborghini boat, while your tech takes a Lamborghini uber to your house
Reminds me of that picture that went around a while ago of a guy manually vacuuming a roomba store. Seems funny at first blush, but it's really no big deal. Roomba doesn't promise that its robot is the only device you ever need to clean your house, the same way Tesla doesn't claim to make every car anyone would ever need.
Absolutely. Truck rolls (the term in the field service industry for dispatching a truck and technician) are expensive so you want to have everything you need onboard and only make 1 trip. Vans hold a lot more and allow for easier access to parts and equipment.
If you rode a Yamaha motorbike and the repair person showed up in a van, would you be surprised that it wasn't made by Yamaha given they don't make vans? Not quite the dunk you might think.
And? I’m assuming it wouldn’t be profitable for them to develop a sprinter van just for a repair vehicle. Makes more sense to get a small fleet of cheap ford vans
I've had service techs roll up in a model x, it depends what you need to carry. Box trucks aren't the demand driver for electric vehicle conversion, but someone will get there eventually!
People think a company is bound to their own products exclusively for some reason…
Yes, Microsoft runs Linux for many of their servers because it has less performance overhead.
Yes, the local Walmart regional manager probably shops at Whole Foods because the quality is higher.
Yes, your burnout friend that works at Burger King goes across the street to Subway for lunch because the smell of BKs food all day makes him nauseated.
And yes, Tesla uses Ford vans because *they don’t make fucking vans.*
This isn’t groundbreaking lol
I worked at a hotel that had Tesla chargers. One day a Tesla rep is checking in, I ask if he wants me to (put a parking cone) hold one of the spots for him. He laughs and says he isn’t driving a Tesla. His service area was large and there are not enough chargers along the route so he was unable to use one for his job.
All the anti tesla people in here say ha gotcha as if tesla makes a van and saying people point it out are just fan boys trying to justify it. All yall stupid? You don't see Ferrari servicing Ferraris in a freaking Enzo or Lamborghini pulling up to fix a tractor in a Murcialago.
I used to walk through the executive parking bay at one of the Big 3 regularly. I don't recall ever seeing a different manufacturer's car. So if they do own them, they aren't driving them to work.
My ex's dad worked for Ford. He made me park my Silverado down the street because he didn't want his boss that lived down the street to see it parked in his driveway.
I saw a Ford pickup with the Tesla logo roll into our work parking lot with a Tesla on a trailer. We were a long way from a service center. They brought a loaner on a trailer and took away my coworkers Tesla for repair.
Definitely amusing, but far more practical to use a cheaper vehicle that serves the purpose better. I've had home service from a non-tesla vehicle and could care less what make it was as long as they got the job done.
It's a mixed bag.
When Tesla originally started doing mobile service they gave all the mobile techs a Ford Transit vehicle, as shown in the image.
These days they've been phasing them out in favor of the new Model S Long Range.
I imagine there's still a few Ford Transits though.
Fords get delivered on a Volvo…
Forklifts are probably Toyota.
_American parts, Russian parts, all made in Taiwan!_
Yelled by a Swedish actor
The Taskmaster, Fred.
This made me laugh harder than it should’ve.
That guy is swedish? He's Russian in everything!
That's why I told you "touch nothing". But you're a bunch of cowboys!
He used to make the tip of the bomb, the thing that finds uh New York or Washington, you know?
Components…
Probably. Heck, the factory was Toyota’s before Tesla bought it.
Funny. Toyota invested 50 mil in Tesla and gave them a portion of the factory
Toyota also didn't a joint project with GM in the same plant.
If you ever scratch out both T's and the A, all that's left is OYO which looks like boobs.
also resembles an owl
You should get your boobs checked out if they looks like OYO
and it all gets here on a samsung ship
Or Hyuandai, or Mitsubishi. Asian mega-conglomerates are weird.
Like how Hitachi makes everything from cranes and missile launchers to CD drives. And yet tons of people in the West primarily know them for a certain "vibrating massager".
Peterbilt 'round these parts.
What did Peter build?
deez nuts
But sigma built the engine right?
No that’s ligma
Did it with a loan from bofa
Yeah and sugma. That was cute though, sigma.

Ever seen a KIA deliver anything other than disappointment?
To be fair, they're much better cars these days than they used to be.
The Telluride made Consumer Reports top pick for midsize SUV. That's a tough competition to win.
I know its a running gag but current KIA Sorento looks pretty damn good. Def one of the better looking SUVs.
I bought the simplest Kia Picanto in the world. It doesnt even have electric windows. But its the cheapest car on the market, and its a relatively new car. And reliable. Other brands dont sell cars like this and its exactly what I need.
Kia and Hyundai design language has an "insect" look - and once you see it you can't un-see it.
Kia Telluride is selling very well!
Hyundai Stargazer looks legit. Especially at night with that light bar across the front
2023 stargazer, now with 75% more light pollution!
In my opinion, that car looks dumb.
Hyundai Ioniq looks better imo
My old Hyundai Tiburon was awesome. I still miss that car 20 years later.
The Stinger is great. Both Kia and Hyundai are killing it atm.
IMO they have the best EVs in the NA market with the EV6 and Ioniq 5
I've always enjoyed the ones I've driven. And the Stinger is quite great.
I've got a Stinger and it's been quite nice. Also has a key fob and not theta engine, so no getting stolen easily or burning down! /s
I have a stinger gt and it's been an amazing exciting car.
Huh? It's 2022. Nobody makes bad cars anymore. The Stinger is a beast.
Nobody except Mitsubishi
"Is that a good car I see? "No, it's just a Mirage"
Very good cars at least
I saw a KIA delivering a pizza once!
Volvo is delivered in a T.G.I. Fridays.
Sir this a wendys
From a Toyota by cesarean section.
Well Tesla doesn't make a van so they need to use something. Wonder if they will buy the new electric Ford vans.
These are supposed to be electric. https://www.torquenews.com/1083/teslas-ev-mobile-service-van-debuts-november-12th-details
You are right, it looks the same and there is no sign of exhaust on this image.
[Ahem](https://i.imgur.com/DpQ9YJl.png). That article talks about the Electric Transit, which is a Ford Transit with electric motors. Nice, thanks for putting the effort to resolve this dilemma.
They actually use a Model 3 where I am, and I've heard some parts of the US get old Model S' as mobile service cars.
Got a guy in an X yesterday
I've seen a post on the Tesla sub with a Plaid S being used as a service car. Wonder why they didn't just sell that to a customer.
Faster service?
Ah so that's Elon's plan to improve their service situation.
Probably a lease return.
The Model S Plaid was launched in 2021 and the post was made in 2021. I doubt a lease would be merely 6 months long.
Took 2 guys in a bus last week
In Denmark it's Model S and a few X.
Or one of those Rivian delivery vans.
Probably because Rivian needs to deliver 100,000 of them to Amazon and can't make em fast enough for even that yet.
I mean does Lamborghini have "Service" Lamborghinis? The executive team of Spirit airlines flies on private jets. It's a silly joke but Tesla doesn't make box trucks so why would they try to put a round peg in a square hole?
> I mean does Lamborghini have "Service" Lamborghinis? Could be Lamborghini tractors.
Would a big Lamborghini be a Sheeporghini?
Oh ewe!
Bahaha
Wool you guys just stop?
> Sheeporghini Don't drive one of them into Wales. I think legally it's your fault if you get rear-ended in one there.
Hey I had a tire rotation done on a model3 and the service guy showed up in a model s and pulled a jack and torque wrench out of the trunk lol
I was just going to say, my neighbor had some service done to his model 3 and the service guy was driving an s
Tesla has a shitload of old model S they can use as beaters
[удалено]
They loan them out when they have to fix your car as well.
>why would they try to put a round peg in a square hole? [It goes in the square hole.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz8ssH7LiB0)
Lamborghini service vehicles are most likely VWs. Lamborghini is owned by VW. Tesla should make a van.

Tesla don’t make small vans… yet You think your Ferrari gets serviced by a guy in another Ferrari?
It would be kinda cool honestly
Have you seen a Tesla van yet? Well there you go.
[удалено]
A van makes more sense, though. Right?
Absolutely. Truck rolls (the term in the field service industry for dispatching a truck and technician) are expensive so you want to have everything you need onboard and only make 1 trip. Vans hold a lot more and allow for easier access to parts and equipment.
Of course. There's a reason why so many work van are vans and not SUVs.
My service guy showed up in a Model S.
Then they would need a bigger thing to service the service vans
The CEO of royal carribean does not drive a cruise ship daily
"Look! He's not on his cruise ship again! Get him!"
And he should be ashamed.
He probably does have a yacht… but I see your point
Bet the yacht had a different ship builder, does that make you seethe? Lol
makes sense, tesla does not make utility vans
I'd assume these Ford Transit vans are cheap.
Cheap, reliable, and ubiquitous. For many years the most-used robbery getaway vehicle.
If you rode a Yamaha motorbike and the repair person showed up in a van, would you be surprised that it wasn't made by Yamaha given they don't make vans? Not quite the dunk you might think.
I hope my Yamaha piano tuner now shows up on a Yamaha motorcycle.
Is this suppose to be some “gotcha” post?
[удалено]
Allright, you got me.
Of course it is…
Might as well post the picture of a Tesla with a gas generator for the millionth time
Or a Tesla being towed to a charger because they ran out of energy. Silly EVs. This stuff would never happen to a gas car
They don’t make wrenches or hammers either
And? I’m assuming it wouldn’t be profitable for them to develop a sprinter van just for a repair vehicle. Makes more sense to get a small fleet of cheap ford vans
Well tesla doesnt make a big ass van so whats ur point?
Wow. Companies use products from other companies, who would have known.
Dumbest post in a while
Does tesla make vans? Or other cargo vehicles?
It kinda makes sense. Tesla doesn’t make vans Not to hard to understand
I've had service techs roll up in a model x, it depends what you need to carry. Box trucks aren't the demand driver for electric vehicle conversion, but someone will get there eventually!
Yes, and?
Op thinks Tesla's supply chain can use teslas
People think a company is bound to their own products exclusively for some reason… Yes, Microsoft runs Linux for many of their servers because it has less performance overhead. Yes, the local Walmart regional manager probably shops at Whole Foods because the quality is higher. Yes, your burnout friend that works at Burger King goes across the street to Subway for lunch because the smell of BKs food all day makes him nauseated. And yes, Tesla uses Ford vans because *they don’t make fucking vans.* This isn’t groundbreaking lol
They do have some Model S service sedans.
Someone post that photo of the Coke van driver drinking Pepsi...
Yeah so dumb, the service Tech forgot to take the Tesla Van! Oh wait..
well you know what ford stands for? fix it again tony
*sigh* Dale, that's a Fiat.
Leave it to Dale to Bollocks up the punchline, every bleeding time.
Because tesla don't make these types of vehicles. This is like being shocked your Ferrari isn't towed by another ferrari
Yes. Companies often don't make every product they use.
Tesla doesn't make service van tho... Sooo...
And guidance chips for US missiles are made in China lol. Welcome to the economy.
Just a guess, tesla doesnt make a van? Also they probably gotta stop often and dont want to wait for a charge. More surprised it's not a Mercedes.
Well, Tesla doesn't have a van, does it? Also, how do you know this is an official vehicle?
this is what they can af-ford
Nobody knows breakdowns like a Ford so makes sense.
That's because, and I could be mistaken, Tesla doesn't make service vehicles.
It's fun to poke fun at this. But a van is the right vehicle for the job and Tesla doesn't make a van.
I see this mentioned everywhere and don't understand the point. Is it supposed to be some kind of "gotcha" against Tesla?
Put your phone down and look at the road
Vehicles that help to repair airplanes are also not airplanes.
You think the Ferrari mechanic shows up in a cherry red Ferrari?
Yeah because they actually have to get to the site.
Well they probably don’t have a van that can hold all the tools what do you expect… they don’t have a work van type vehicle yet
Welcome to 2014.....
In the immortal words of Ron White, “They don’t make a van.”
/r/notinteresting
Well yeah Tesla doesn't make vans so...
Not sure what the point is? If Tesla made a van then this might be more of a gotcha.
They use a model s for small shit and the cars are shipped on diesels
All the anti tesla people in here say ha gotcha as if tesla makes a van and saying people point it out are just fan boys trying to justify it. All yall stupid? You don't see Ferrari servicing Ferraris in a freaking Enzo or Lamborghini pulling up to fix a tractor in a Murcialago.
…but the Ford executives own Teslas.
I used to walk through the executive parking bay at one of the Big 3 regularly. I don't recall ever seeing a different manufacturer's car. So if they do own them, they aren't driving them to work.
20 years ago it was mandatory, now its not technically, but if you are an executive its more of an unwritten rule
Ford executives get free ford vehicles, the lot is full of navigators and f250 platinums
Guaranteed they don't.
My ex's dad worked for Ford. He made me park my Silverado down the street because he didn't want his boss that lived down the street to see it parked in his driveway.
The McLaren dealer around here uses a Jeep truck for their service
The horseless carriage repair man used to show up on a horse
FFS, any car company that doesn't have a utility van has to use one from another manufacture.
I couldn’t give less of a fuck about Tesla and this is still one the dumbest posts I’ve ever seen.
I saw a Ford pickup with the Tesla logo roll into our work parking lot with a Tesla on a trailer. We were a long way from a service center. They brought a loaner on a trailer and took away my coworkers Tesla for repair.
they don't make vans.
Last time I checked, Tesla doesn’t make service vans, let alone passenger vans… What else would you expect them to drive?
I heard Tesla doesn’t even use a Tesla to bolt in their parts
Gas efficient
Great I own stock in both👍
Cybertruck nao pls
So service vehicles must be the same make as the vehicles being serviced?
Tesla doesn't make a van... so... /shrug
Yeah, I saw one of them filling up at a gasoline pump.
I know a Tesla tech/mechanic, they have him in a modified Tesla.
Definitely amusing, but far more practical to use a cheaper vehicle that serves the purpose better. I've had home service from a non-tesla vehicle and could care less what make it was as long as they got the job done.
They aint stoopid.
Give them time, they'll get around to a van eventually.
Fikx it agaein tessler!
Just saying…
I think they cant a-ford a tesla
Microsoft 365 servers mostly run Linux. Same deal, use what works, not what you sell.
So when you get your Porche serviced, they turn up in a Porche van do they?
My friend the Harley mechanic rides a BMW.
Next you'll be telling me Ford doesn't even use a ford container ship to transport it's cars!!
Only the 17589th time this has been posted...
Tesla doesn’t make service vehicles
BMWs are trucked by Mercedes trucks in Germany
You re all lucky you didn't get serviced by a cybertruck as it hasn't fully loaded into this reality yet.
It’s all they could a Ford.
Who cares? What’s wrong with that?
They don’t make a van
Tesla doesn't make vans yet, so...
Used Tesl Mobile Service twice. Both times they came with a Model X
It's a mixed bag. When Tesla originally started doing mobile service they gave all the mobile techs a Ford Transit vehicle, as shown in the image. These days they've been phasing them out in favor of the new Model S Long Range. I imagine there's still a few Ford Transits though.
So do tesla make utility vans? Didn't think so.
I mean... there is no tesla van
Lame.
What? There are only a few car brands that make Cans etc. because for most manufacturers don't focus on transportation vehicles? Whaaaat? Crazy ...
i offered the guy replacing my wheel a coffee and he said they actually have an espresso machine in the truck and was about to offer me one…
