Something something, less plastic, good for the environment, something something. 😂 Granted, I have more than enough charging bricks, but it still sucks especially when someone is switching to a USB-C block for the first time and they don't have one.
Most laptops (and some desktop PCs) have USB c ports and they can charge from there.
I only ever use 3rd-party solutions for charging my devices. They're plentiful on sites like Amazon and often cheaper (and possibly even charge faster) than Google's block. I use Anker, I would also trust UGreen and maybe Aukey.
Looking at US prices - the Google brick is a 30w charger and costs $25 from Google. A UGreen brick that is 35w and has two USB plugs (one A and one C) is $17 on Amazon right now.
To be fair my pixel 5 came with a damn fine quick charger. And my wife charges her iphone15 pro with it. They probably include this cause the USB c was kind of recent.
Dude been living in the dark ages.. 😆
This has been the way of the world for a few years now, neither Google, Apple, or Samsung phones come with charging bricks.
So, yes, they got greedy.

Won’t it be illegal in the EU soon, with its new regulations?
I have no idea, as I'm in the US.

Yeah! I don't think they were giving it for free earlier?! price must have been covering all of that.
Actually, the EU passed laws that, as a side effect, caused this to happen.
Yeah they maliciously complied aka got greedy
Not too smart, are you?
Arrogant and condescending, are you?
You clearly haven’t bought a phone since 2021. The trend was startet by Apple and was later adopted by Samsung and Google.

What law is that? I know the union has made the iPhone change to USBC but I haven't of the regulation that says no charging bricks in new phone boxes
Aha, enshittification

Can those blocks take the singular cable I got from Google?
Sure can, they have a USB-C port.
USB-C to USB-C? Good
Do you not have any USB c chargers at all? Any of them will charge your phone.
I do but I need an adapter to charge the phone
