Express-Luck-3812

There's nothing you can do now. That hundo is gone forever but you learn as you go. Next time you trade, you can sort them by clicking on the 0*,1*,2* or you can type it yourself so it will only show the ones below 3 stars. When you become bestfriends in the game, the floor IV is raised to 5/5/5 whenever you trade so there will be a higher chance to get a hundo. I wanna give more tips but it'd be more fun for you and your son to discover on your own. Good luck to you both!

AudioRejectz

Thank you for this, it really helped. I went through his account tonight and favourited all his 3 star and other important ones, just so they are not deleted or traded accidentally. It's good to know what to about being best friends, as I'm new we are only 2 ❤️ at the moment but I'll make sure we party up when we go out and send gifts.

Stardust_Mystic

You could also use labels! I labeled all of my 3 stars. There’s a quick select for it when you press and hold on the pokemon!

blackmetro

Unfortunately you cant see labels in the trading menu You can however search for labels, which OP apparently didn't know when making the mistake

PearlyServal

Get him to favourite it, you can't trade favourite pokemon.

blackmetro

OP already made a comment saying they have favourited their sons important Pokemon

Cambion_Chow

Can you see changes to names when trading? Like I name most of my 3* and 4* with *s would that be able to be seen?

blackmetro

Yes you can see Nicknames on Pokemon, so that would work too!

Fluffydoggie

Add Tags for things like hundo, favorite, save, then trade, evolve, transfer (wait for the spotlight hour that gives extra candy for transferring).

Sephiga

You’re a really fantastic parent for going this extra mile for him by sorting and favoriting all his important Pokemon! 😭

Altruistic-Bobcat955

You also can’t send anything back, trade is a one time thing per Pokemon

Kellye8498

Also type in 4* as those are the 100’s that he’s worried about and they should be starred and labeled somehow so this doesn’t happen again. I usually just add 100 before the name of the pokemon personally.

Kirbo84

Please don't blow money on Pokemon Go. It's fun (close to level 50) but it's not worth it over a simple mistake. Lickitung isn't even that good. Hundos are only marginally better than 3-stars. He'll get over it.

Altruistic-Bobcat955

He’s autistic and 8 years old wtf *he’ll get over it*?

Nihilistic_Navigator

Also 4* only shows perfects

Scratchlax

5/5/5 is still lower than 1/1000 odds for a hundo. Even a lucky trade is like 1/64. Let's not set up unrealistic expectations of hundo odds. +1 to discovery though!

DarthJarJar242

I just did my first lucky trade today with a friend for shinies. I got a perfect shiny haunter, his shiny Growlithe was 14/14/14. Real bummer. Would have been cool to get to lucky, shundos outta the deal.

Express-Luck-3812

That's true and I agree but as someone who trades 100 + 1 special everyday, I get 3-10 lucky trades on average per day. If you grind as much as I do, those odds are really not that low. It is unlikely they will be doing that but I'm just putting it out there. My point is to not get hung up on the lost hundo, there will always be plenty opportunities to get more. I only said that so they will have something to look forward to as they play more together.

Gearhead31

When you type in the search bar 4* you can see all your perfect pokemon. Keep in mind for the future

MageKorith

And !4\* to hide your perfects. When mass transferring/trading jank with my kids, I usually use a string like !4\*&!3\*&!mythic&!legendary&!shiny&!costume&!event&!@special to avoid major pitfalls. Maybe also consider &!evolvenew if you're working towards new evolutions and don't want to accidentally trade/transfer your best evolution candidate.

AudioRejectz

Thank you for this, I've just saved the string you provided 🙏

jay_altair

there are a massive amount of search queries, see link below. a couple other tips: accounts with old Pokémon (from 2018 and earlier I think) can trade those pokemon for a set number of guaranteed lucky trades, but once they run through all the guaranteed luckies it's not guaranteed anymore. don't use tags that are the same string as any of the search queries--the tags will mess up the queries. For instance, I was using a tag "XL", which caused the "!xl" query to not exclude xl mons as it's supposed to. I changed the tag name to "big" and it works fine. XL and XXL Pokémon are good to save for Showcases. and they say xs and xxs Pokémon might be useful one day.... 😂 https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/en/6-pokemon-go/faq/1486-searching-filtering-your-pokemon-inventory/

Lutrina

Been playing for years and didn’t know this trick. Would always search for 0* - 2*. Thanks man!

Rhamil12

And if you type “!4*” it will remove all perfect pinning from the search

essellkay

Not OP but I've used this to favorite all 4*s so I don't accidentally transfer them....because I've done it once and hated myself for it

QuietYam5625

It can take a really long time, but if you trade him all the lickitung you catch, the odds are better to get a hundo from trades than catching a hundo in the wild. Especially after you get to best friends. You also might get a random lucky trade, and the floor for lucky trades is 12/12/12. Or, you might get a guaranteed lucky trade eventually. It’s sad now, but we have all accidentally transferred or traded a special one. The best thing to do is favorite them, and he can even nickname it something to remind him it’s special.

AudioRejectz

Thank you for this.. I've already told him he gets all my lickitungs until he gets a perfect. I've made it .y mission to make sure he gets another, regardless of how long it takes.

KConnerMcDavidPasta

Lickis also in 5k eggs which have an IV floor of 10.10.10. I've hatched a couple hundo lickitung. Wish I could gift it cause I hate that thing.

setfunctionzero

Same here, I've hatched 3 perfect lickitungs this last year alone.

SnooLemons8282

I agree, replace exactly what was lost, no matter what it takes

wtfarekangaroos

Another important lesson to note: once a pokemon has been traded once, it cannot be traded again. So even if the stats hadn't been rerolled, you still wouldn't have been able to give it back to him.  Anyways OP, it's okay. It's a learning experience. Just keep reassuring your son that you didn't know, you're very sorry, and it will never happen again. This can be a great learning experience for him too. It helps him learn how to handle things with grace and forgiveness when someone makes a genuine mistake. And it also helps model for him how HE should handle things when he makes a genuine mistake - apologize for it, learn from it, etc. Promise him you'll make up for it somehow :) promise him that next time you get a really cool shiny or legendary that he wants, you owe it to him.

avatarKos

Hey OP consider using search strings for EVERYTHING. An example here would be !4*&!shiny (once you use your search string you can pin it for easy reuse) I hope everything has been ok

AudioRejectz

To be honest I didn't know about strings, but now I've saved a note on my phone with all the ones we could possibly need. Thank you

swollywood

All possible search phrases for PokémonGO: https://leidwesen.github.io/SearchPhrases/

jonni_velvet

trade each other pokemon that have good evos for battling long term, like dratini/magikarp/bagon/etc etc etc as often as you can! I guarantee eventually one will end up 100 or lucky! and he’ll be happy lickitung is a mostly useless pokemon if that helps at all

Maverick2030

But how do you pin your search strings? I am on iOS.

avatarKos

Press and hold the recent search string

Baka_Day

It stinks, but I wouldn't pay Niantic for their crap design. Just keep trading with him until you get a lucky trade and try to give him a lickitung then.

JoviAMP

Honestly, yeah. Lucky trades, especially, should never be able to reroll lower IVs.

Prestigious_Time_138

This will take years lmao.

lobo_locos

Huh? My wife and I got lucky really quickly once we were best friends. Why would it take years? We actually have a few lucky trades between each other. Edit: it was a random lucky trade.

Prestigious_Time_138

Lucky friends has around a 1.5% chance to occur every day, meaning it will happen on average once every few months at best. A hundo from a lucky trade will happen on average once in 64 lucky trades, meaning assuming they hit 7-8 lucky friends a year (which is very generous), it will still take on average almost 10 years to get a hundo.

hauntedskin

A local friend and I got lucky friends 4 times over the course of 2 months, it was crazy. IIRC we also got 3 random luckies in a row while trading, at full odds I think.

Shiny-Blissey

Depends on how often you play…maybe months* is more accurate lol

KrystalWulf

Trade gifts every day and it won't take long to get bets then lucky friends and a guaranteed lucky trade.

roastbeefroastbeef

Yeeeears

Prestigious_Time_138

Apologise to him, own up to your mistake, and ask him to favourite his perfect Pokémon in the future, so they can’t accidentally be transferred or traded.

manuredujour

A lesson in forgiveness. Maybe offer to take him somewhere special for Pokémon hunting and let him put some lures on some Pokestops or set aside some special time to battle with him.

Prestigious_Time_138

This is a great idea👍🏽

KingJordan24

He should Favorite and create Tag Groups for his ‘Mons so that it greatly reduces accidents. Maybe make a Tag titled “Trade” or “Dad”. I made a Group titled "☆☆☆☆" just so I have a Tag Button underneath the Pokémon’s Name that I see when I scroll through. I know the game already sorts them for you via search but it’s more of a personal visual preference for me. I transferred a Perfect Gastly on accident and I still get clammy just thinking about it. The sting will always be there but it gets easier. Gamers are just like this sometimes. Whats most important is a parent taking time to learn and play a game with their kid! Enjoy the memories, happy hunting!

Embarrassed_Kick5579

Say it with me everybody, favourite your Pokemon

Jackalope1993

Could have been worse lickitung is fucking awful :P

merganzer

It's a solid PvP pick, especially with Body Slam.

What_in_tarnation-

I thought you couldn’t send back a trade anyway? I might have done something equally shitty with my sons account (okay so I made it for him and really didn’t think he was going to play, I caught a shiny torchic and might have traded it to myself and it wasn’t until months later he’s browsing through his dex and I get busted. 🤦🏻‍♀️). It wouldn’t let me trade it back to him so I let him pick a shiny of mine that he didn’t have. He’s also a bit neurodivergent and I feel like we’ve only just came out of the woods from the meltdowns in the last couple of years. He’s 11 now and maybe has one or two a year but whew…years 2-8 were a STRUGGLE.

cumminx_93

You can’t trade something that’s already been traded. I was bummed when I found that out myself. lol.

hauntedskin

Try to save shines and legendaries for a lucky friends trade so the IVs don't risk rerolling into garbage stats.

Gold-Perspective-699

This is why I tell people to always favorite their hundos. Teach him to favorite them or type in !4* when you trade with him. Local discords will call out hundos usually so if you can find that in your town and go get hundos for him he'll be happier I'm sure. Copy paste https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemongo/s/D8j48meIIv Guides for everything in game. Read the posts that apply to you. If you're confused what part you should read/watch please ask.

Lewca43

Fellow mom here…please give yourself some grace. It’s so hard in the moment when they are struggling but you didn’t do something unforgivable, you tried in earnest to help your child who was struggling. I know as a mom all you want to do is fix this and I’m sorry. Hopefully with a little time this will just be a blip.

AudioRejectz

Thank you very much for your kind words.. In all honesty once I told him he gets all my lickitungs until he gets one and he got a pokemon tonight he's being wanting for quite a while, he cheered up. I think it was me who was actually more upset! Because of his issues I home school him, he doesn't really have friends, so I make sure to make sure he's as happy as possible and having fun. It hurt quite a lot seeing him so upset by something that I had done. But it's a learning thing, at least now we know what not to do no and the responses to this have given some really useful tips that we were unaware of.

Lewca43

Help him remember it’s a game of chance regarding what you get when. It’s easy to get fixated on that one you want and it just doesn’t come your way. (I love me some shinies and my husband always seems to catch them.) Best to you guys and have fun!

meek902

You can make it up to him with lucky trades

Shiny-Blissey

Exactly

orgasmsnotheadaches

I did a Shadow Entei raid with my nine year old son last night. He couldn't catch it and asked me to help.. I couldn't catch it either, and it eventually fled. On the way back to the car he says.. "When you're old and sitting on the porch, I'm going to say, 'Do you remember that time you lost my shadow entei?'" Seriously though: You can't fix his trade, *but* if you guys consistently trade pokemon, *eventually* you'll get a lucky trade, and your chance of a perfect is so much higher there, and being lucky is greatness.

hauntedskin

I know he's just a child, but it stinks for him to hold that against you when he asked you to help. Your odds were about 16% max per ball, assuming everything was in your favour. Best advice I can give is to max out all the type badges as fast as you can (bottom of your profile page) and look up and practise circle locking. The latter is by far the best way to help guarantee catches. Shadows also animate every half a second or so. Watch their pattern and only throw when they're midway through an attack specifically; the circle goes away when you're holding the ball if it's an attack, time it for when the circle just comes back to help prevent each ball being wasted. There's apparently a hidden mechanic where the more Premier balls you get to the ball shaking part, the better your chance of catching is. Make every ball count!

cumminx_93

Your 9yo sounds like he’s got it figured out. lol.

GimmiePumpkinPie

I have two teens and play Pokémon Go as well. Your 8 year old sounds like my now 15 year old when he was that age. I will offer some advice to make it easier on you and your eight-year-old by the time he is 15. Do not do anything as special treatment that he would not get out in the world with everybody else. That may sound rough. And I’m not saying not to do other special things with your kids. I’m just saying if he gets whatever Pokémon he wants from you and then he trades with somebody else that’s not you and doesn’t get the Pokémon he wants he will have a meltdown. And you treating your best Pokémon to him without an equal trade sets him up to do this. if he learns now from you, that he won’t each special item without offering up something of equal value, then he may not meltdown when he trades with someone else if he doesn’t get the Pokémon he wants or at the level of CP he wants. And I would say use every opportunity to model what would occur in real world interactions without giving special treatment. The other thing I will say is it’s just fine if he melts down if he’s not hurting himself or others. It is ok for Him to feel sad about something. He just has bigger emotions than other people. These are the things that I would be saying to my younger self. And the other thing I will tell you is it gets better.

KikiD1367

I star all the Pokemon I don’t want to trade or accidentally delete (upper right corner of the Pokemon) It was an honest mistake. I know your little one doesn’t fully understand that (I have a daughter the same way) momma was only trying to help with the game. Don’t beat yourself up to bad, keep trading with him and you’ll eventually trade a hundo 100% Pokemon to him. You can trade up to a 100 Pokemon per day. Maybe give him a few dollars to buy remote or in person raid passes to get some legendary Pokemon that are in the raids. Best of luck to your little one on his next hundo!

LunaLouGB

Get to raiding then. Helping him to win raids regularly will sharply increase his odds of a hundo. Also, accompany him on walks/drives so that he can hatch more eggs.

lew__dawg

A pokemon traded cannot be traded again.

Sprinklesare4Winners

I feel for you both. There is no fast way to get a hundo (term for perfect) but approach it as a way to get to know the game better. Quick tips: 1) The best odds for hundos are raids. You get five remote raids a day (except when they up it for events). If you want to do something proactive, buy him some remote raid passes. Remember his account has to catch it, unless you’re trading it to him. 2) Eggs also have higher hundo odds. Buy him some incubators. Only you can figure out how much you want to spend in apology. 3) Favorite ALL pokemon he doesn’t want to lose, that means clicking on the star in the corner. 4) USE TAGS. You can create tags to organize and label things so scrolling through you see what they are, and can also create a trade tab that will select only tradable pokemon. 5) Use and SAVE search strings. I saw posts laying out various searches that will exclude keeper pokemon, so just copy those. TO SAVE: If you go to the “see more” link in the pokemon search screen you’ll see your most recent searches. After using a search string go there and press on the string in your history till a save window opens. Then you never have to enter it again. Not sure how you feel about YouTube creators but this guy is great at explaining things, has been playing the game from the get go and my 8 yr old likes his game updates.[Mystic7](https://youtube.com/@MYSTlC7?si=PbY4jJRoQ_Q_WhHQ) Good luck!!

Melanie-Littleman

It doesn't help now, but for the future, 4* pokemon should be starred / marked as favorites. This blocks them from being traded or transferred. This was done out of ignorance, not malice, so it is forgivable. It may just take a bit. 💔

milfhunterwhitevan2

I’m sorry you had this happen but it’s sweet you’re using it as a learning experience! I love playing Pokémon go and walking and my dad loved walking around the neighborhood but would never entertain the idea of playing Pokémon go with me. It’s really sweet that you’re doing this with your son.

WraithTDK

Also, you can't trade back. I'm not sure if that makes you feel better or worse, but just for future refference, you can't trade a Pokemon that's been traded to you.

DiDDyCaLLOut

Lol

Daocommand

If it makes you feel any better, a hundred percent lickitung isn’t really good at anything anyway. Your son is probably too young too know that is a PvP Pokemon and it’s perfect IVs are 0 attack and maxed out defense and HP. He’s definitely upset because “hundos” or perfect 100 percent IVs are super rare to get and it’s completely random to get one. In about 6 months you might be able to fix it! Make sure you’re friends with him in the game and send him gifts every single day. As soon as you reach max friendship, every once in a while when you open a gift, you become “lucky” friends. This means your very next trade is a lucky trade and the minimum IVs in that trade are like 12-13 for each of the three stats. Eventually with enough lucky trades, you will get a few hundos!

functionalnerrrd

Become best friends as fast as possible and start trading. You'll never be able to replace that one. But you should get some good lucky trades moving forward

kefvedie

Buy him a pokemon go + youll passively catch a few shiny and hundos and will probably ease the pain to your kiddo. Or buy an off brand one for like 20 dollaroos.

Vertoule

There’s not going to be any way to fix this mistake, at least for your kid. The best way forward is to do as many community days as possible to boost your chance for not just hundos but shinies. Keep an eye out for starlight hours or com days that feature the lickitung and see if you can get a whole bunch then trade 1:1 and maybe get a lucky trade :)

Mother_Gothel_863

I wouldn’t spend money in the game if anything maybe you can take him on a Pokémon run do a route get some things done in your tasks go to a gym maybe do some raids, or just walk along and put on an incense and go to an area that you can go to PokéStops. There’s an area near me and There’s like over 100 stops inches from each other, and I just go around in a circle. Maybe you could do that with him just try to favorite, his favorite, so hit the star in the right hand corner. Nobody can make the mistake again.

hoosfan278

My friend, you’re a great f’ing dad and don’t forget that!

AudioRejectz

Thank you 🙏

SonGoku1256

The trading and IV system in the game is long overdue for an update and is beyond silly. Pokémon has always been about trading. It’s why the games have always been sold in pairs since the original Red and Blue. Be it the Trading card game, the video games, etc. trading is kinda important with Pokémon fans. Unfortunately, Pokémon in Go can only be traded ONCE and if you accidentally trade the wrong one away it’s gone forever and not even the Devs can/will help ya. The IVs also reroll when traded so you should NEVER trade a 4 Star 100% Pokémon as it can only downgrade. Lucky Trades would be your best bet but it’s such a slim chance I wouldn’t trade until you become Lucky Friends which will take months as first you gotta become Best Friends then keep playing together and gifting until you guys become Lucky Friends. Lucky Trades like all trades unfortunately have to be done in person. But with a Lucky Trade both Pokémon end up getting at least a 10/10/10 IV floor though usually they end up better and often come out between a 80-90% or higher and every now and then they’ll come out a Perfect 100%. What I do is trade the same Shiny that have 0-2 Stars so that way they come out a 3-4 Star high IV Lucky Shiny that now costs less stardust to max out and is decent for competitive play. It also costs both parties little stardust as it’s a mirror trade so you’re both just getting upgrades. We all learn the hard way at some point. I had a Best Friend trade me a 3 Star Shiny Riolu knowing the IVs would reroll but thought it would at least remain a 3 Star as we were Best Friends during the trade. Nope. It became a 0 star so a potential Shiny Lucario got ruined and turned into a novelty and a reminder to never trade for something you want to use outside of a Lucky Trade. It’s a shame you can’t trade the same Pokémon more than once or Bottle Cap IVs so a rare or sentimental Pokémon could actually be useful. In the future have him mark his Pokémon he wants to keep with the Favorite Lock. Or create a Tab named “Favorites” and Tag it. Or change the name to Lickitung100% hope this helps.

Substantial_Impact82

Look up Pokémon go search strings and learn how to make your own search tabs and save/rename them. This is what I use to rid my junk Pokémon: age0-3&0*,1*,2*&!shiny&!mythical&!legendary&!special&!shadow&!favorite&!trade&!xxl&!xxs&!xl&!xs&!lucky trades Simply put it’s any Pokémon I’ve caught in the past 3 days that’s 0,1,2 star and a list of exclusions like no shiny, no mythical, no Pokémon I’ve tagged for trading, etc

PeterfromBostonMA

Reminder: It's just a game

AudioRejectz

It's not to him

ttsmlp23

Ohhh I’m so sorry this happened..I feel your guilt so strongly 😢 My son is also autistic and these kinds of moments are awful, but try not to be so hard on yourself. You are doing a great job of caring and honoring his needs. How wonderful for you to start playing with him..wishing you years of Pokémon bonding 🥰

amsmtf

Why wouldn’t you confirm with him the Pokemon you wanted in return?

AudioRejectz

He has a Pokemon go Plus +, so his inventory is often full of duplicate pokemon acuired on our walks. As I'm new I didn't fully understand the star system, I just saw he had quite a few of the lickitung, I didn't have one, so I traded his lowest CP thinking I was trading his weakest that he would probably delete anyway.

Ill-Editor-3422

There is actually a website that lists pokemon locations live time. Ill see if I can find it.

AudioRejectz

Oh that would be amazing, thank you so much.

Prestigious_Time_138

Please don’t waste your time on this, a wild Pokémon has a 1 in 4,096 chance of being perfect. Meaning that even if you found 10 Lickitungs a day (which would take a lot of time), it would on average take you over a year to get him a perfect one. Apologise to your son and next time don’t send his Pokémon away without asking him first. Nothing criminal happened here.

VendingSoup

All wild spawns for trainers above level 31 are the same IVs. So if someone finds a hundo lickitung they can call it out on a local discord or this website and they can go catch it.

Prestigious_Time_138

True, if there’s an extremely active local discord, you might get lucky.

Ill-Editor-3422

I havent used it in a while, so unsure how accurate it is, but it shows spawn locations. It should change all of the time since pokemons will move around or despawn from map until later times

Burgeoninganthurium

Oof, been there too many times with my autistic kids. Best thing you can do is give him space, validate his feelings, and let him stim in whatever way is helpful to help him regulate. Once he’s less upset, talk to him about favoriting his 4* and valued mons so it doesn’t happen again. Maybe open up a pack of Pokémon cards with him? Maybe he’ll get a pokemon he really likes that you can make a big deal out of putting in a special place for him. Or a lickitung stuffy. Best of luck!

DingDingDom

Does he value shinnies more than hundos? Probably a long shot but you could always ask if anyone would gift a shiny to him given what's happened I'm not a spoofer so chances that I'm within trading distance are very slim but got to be someone out there who has the heart to give you something But from one parent of an autistic child to another; don't beat yourself up over it. I know it's difficult at times to understand and see the world and their interests from their view and yeah you messed up this time but you also downloaded and started playing this game just to support him in the first place so it's swings and roundabouts. I'm sure he's enjoyed having you play with him and he'll enjoy catching plenty more Pokemon with you. You'll both get through it 👍

Major_Lawfulness6122

Oof. Lesson learned.

Platinumdogshit

See if you can convince him to favorite his 4* pokemon so it's harder to do that again. You can also add tags and change their names

Nurse_Q

Lickittung is currently an award in Go Battle League. Try it out, and if you can win 3 out of 5 battles, you may have a chance at a Lickittung. Try on your account and trade him all the ones you win. I've received so many lickitung from Battle League.

Nurse_Q

Also forgot to mention Lickittung is available in 5k eggs! So get the walking and hatch as many as you can on both of your accounts.

Notdone_JoshDun

Good lesson for both of you. Do remind him, it's just a game. I know he has autism but you can help him understand. His pokemon that weren't traded should not have had anything changed so I don't understand why you mentioned his Meowth?

wesman21

Buy him an autocatcher and some storage space and spend time with him playing. He'll get another hundo in no-time. Save anything that he wants for lucky trades, let them age and at the three year mark between mon being acquired you'll have maxed out the chance for a hundo.

AudioRejectz

He's actually got one, because he had so many I traded thr weakest CP one thinking it would be one he deleted anyway. I didn't really know about the appraisal/star system until all this.

hauntedskin

It used to be worse, and didn't tell you the actual IVs. It was the equivalent of a family member giving a vague prediction of rain being on the way.

[deleted]

Prevent your son from playing. Life will be way harder than a lost pokemon...

Agreeable_Falcon1044

There is no one perfect deterrent. Use stars, give them different names, tag them, use search strings…and even then it can still happen!

graftthison

Not if you favorite them. Pokemon with a favorite star can't be traded.

Serialver

I would trade trash between myself and partner for the re roll. That and the trade evolutions like Gastly/Haunter etc

hauntedskin

I've gotten 2 random hundo rerolls for other people, one was a Tyrunt, and another a Beldum. The latter was from mass trading Beldum I caught during the recent spawns we had of them. Unfortunately nobody else farmed them like I did... 😭

FirstThoughtResponse

It’s ok OP. I think you just continuing to play with him and be there for all of his next Hundo’s and shundo’s is most important and will be what he remembers. If he likes ice cream do that maybe something else. I know I would feel really bad if I were you so here’s to hoping you guys find more and more together. Make sure to play together each day so you become best friends faster

electric_boogaloo_72

So sorry to hear; I did this too and lost my wife’s hundo gigalith. 😅 Nothing you can do now—time will heal, but any sort of nice surprise to show you’ve been listening to him will help. It’s great you care so much for him. 👏🏻

Soft-Percentage8888

It’s an honest mistake, don’t beat yourself up too much. Try to help him get another one when Licketung is in raids!

MagyarMagmar

That sucks for him, and you. Let him be sad about it. You could work on interacting every day so you can reach lucky friends and trade, with a chance for good IVs. Trading random Pokemons also gives a chance at 100% IVs, even if it is a small chance. If you catch lots, you can trade regularly, up to 100 a day. You could do it together while watching TV or whatever. Going forward, it might be best to rename 100% Pokemon as 100 or Hundo or whatever, so it's clear from the trade screen what they are. You can also favourite them so they can't be accidentally traded or deleted.

Spare-Worry-4186

Maybe keep some low star good Pokémon. My boyfriend loves dragon type so I keep a bunch of crappy ones because there’s always a chance it will turn into a lucky Pokemon. Maybe if you catch any crappy shinies send them to him and he has a chance that almost none of us get which is a shiny with good IVs. I favorite the ones I plan to keep for trading and tag them “For Trade” so it’s really obvious even to me which ones are designated to the trade group.

IkouyDaBolt

It should be worth nothing that Pokemon Go has no controls for properly managing storage. Something as simple as a PIN required for transferring or trading Pokemon would have definitely helped many years ago. If anything, I would also set up a Pokemon Home account for him, especially if he plays the mainstream games, and possibly transfer and rebuild that Lickitung. I know the speed IV and other stats not in Pokemon Go are randomized and I wouldn't know how difficult it would be to rebuild all the stats to perfect in Scarlet and Violet (or Let's Go given Lickitung is Generation I; you could skip Home entirely and transfer straight to that game).

Hidden_Vendetta

I don’t know you or your son but if this really is super serious and you absolutely need to fix it DM me. I can fix it for you. It’s not going to be a licktung but it can be one or two other hundos/shundos/Shadow Hundos. If not all good, no need to DM me! I think we all agree Niantic sucks at developing quality into their products.

kitarei

Honestly I have no advice, I don't think you were really asking for any, and lots of people have already provided great tips and ideas - but I just wanted to say that I'm sorry that happened. That sounds really hard, and parent guilt is rough. Please be kind to yourself as well :).

AudioRejectz

Thank you for the kind words.. Parent guilt is the absolute worst 😔

77GoldenTails

What to do is trade all your 0* daily to each other. While no guarantee of a hundo. He’ll start to get lucky Pokémon that he may enjoy more. Luckies have 12/12/12 minimum stats and are cheaper to power up. It’s only a 1:20 chance it goes lucky but you can trade 100 Pokémon a day. Everyone has either done it or nearly done it. While it’s more difficult for him to understand, he’ll start to forget. This Saturday is a community day. Go out and grind Bellsprout for 3 hours and see who can catch the most shinies. Also check if there is a discord group near you. In busy days like a Comday. People will give a shout out for hundos they’ve found. If your son is over lvl30 if he finds the same Pokémon, it’s also a hundo when caught. Those shout outs will be your best bet. Plus in a Comday you have high odds it’s also a shiny. If you happen to get a 4* and shiny, best not tell him.

Enjoy the memories, happy hunting!

fredy919293

There is research task “win a raid” currently that gives you encounter with lickitung. This will be your best bet.

So_x_TriCKy_x

You're doing a great job, it's not easy getting down all the mechanics of everything but you sure learn from the ones that go wrong. There's also a way to ensure a great roll when trading by becoming lucky friends. I absolutely love trading with my kids when there's a chance to get lucky poke.on out of it. There's in game events occasionally that give higher chances of lucky trades. Also the older the pokemon being traded the higher chance of them becoming lucky. I get lucky pokemon often without being lucky friends when I trade 2016-2018 pokemon. Hang on to pokemon for future trades, I have a whole tag dedicated to pokemon I expect to trade in future that have poor IV but very high CB. Got an amazing garchomp this way.

its-gerg

If this was fleecekings account, he would get it back * sorry to hear that us normal ppl cannot get the same treatment

Cinnamoch

You are a wonderful parent for learning the ins and outs of the game to play with your son. 🩷 Even if mistakes are made, I’m sure he cherishes that you engage in the game with him.

Ok_Project9596

I’m sorry that happened. That sucks, for both of you. I see you had plenty of accurate answers already. Just wanted to share that I know that feeling can suck and that I’m sorry each of you had to feel something you didn’t want to. Hopefully the excitement of future lucky trades between you two, maybe even a lucky Hundo, will also be a pet of the memories to come!

ManicMinkx

The meltdowns get shorter has they age. Mine is turning 16 this year. I remember the feather light meltdowns all too well. We just deal with burnout now.

HairyPotatoKat

Ohhh noooo. I FELT this. ASD (+ADHD) kiddo too, teen now. Mine feels things so strongly as well. It's hard not to take on how they're feeling in those moments 😔 On the flip side of that, there are those moments when they end up getting something like an almost 4 star shiny shadow Mewtwo on their first shadow Mewtwo raid Give him some space from the game, and if he doesn't go back to it on his own, encourage him to play this weekend or next. Ya know, not pushing him hard or anything but encouraging. Little (but big feeling) things like this can help build perseverance. But man, it's hard in the moment. Big picture: He's very lucky to have a parent who engages with him in the things he's interested in....and who feels empathy toward him when he's struggling. Way too many kids don't get either of that.

AntiGravitino

Single father of 8yo autistic boy here (and he def has my Pokemon Nerd genes lol), here’s an idea to make it up to your kiddo that’s been a hit for me: after we’ve had a rough couple of days or weeks, I’ll scout out a not-too-heavily attended Community Day Meetup on the campfire app (Niantics companion app to pogo for finding groups or events in the area). Maybe at a park, or somewhere air conditioned and walkable during our Texas summers. We normally get 2 Community Days each month, they fall on the weekends, and they offer Pokemon that can be harder to find with special moves and a HIGH CHANCE of finding shiny versions of those pokemon. The reaction when he finds (for instance) a white litten or black Charmander: priceless. They are free events, and run from 2pm-5pm. If you’re looking for something to make it up to your child, you can’t go wrong here! Best of luck to y’all!

Kleaners78

You also can't trade a pokemon twice.

Kleaners78

A month or so ago i made a trade with my right year old nephew. We're both new to the game. I sent him a pokemon he didn't have and I asked for a Beedrill. I didn't have one and wanted to know what I do with all the Beedrill energy I had accumulated. A day later his mother asks if he made a trade with me. I said yes. She told me they had already mega evolved it. 🤦

8BD0

He didn't favourite his hundo? You guys gotta favourite your good Pokemon

formermeth

It’s pronounced “artistic”

Rough-Junket7985

I purified my son's shiny shadow 98% pokemon. If that makes you feel any better.

XDrBeejX

become best freinds and then do your 100 trades everyday you'll get a lot of lucky, and some hundo's. My wife and trade nightly get 4-5 lucky a day. Or buy a pokemon go plus + to auto catch pokemon. sometimes I get hundo's. What stinks I trade with my wife.

consumer282

I’ve been playing since 2016. I have 376 hundos, but I’ve never had a hundo lickitung. Good luck 😆

Zarosesreaper

you should download pokie genie if u like doing pvp and use the ivision to scan all your pokemon to see if thier good for pvp or not.

Mammoth_Solution_730

Ohhhboy. I have been to this rodeo too (though circumstances differ -- kid accidentally transferred a hundo before checking it and then realized his error after his brother caught it too and announced it was a perfect). Keep all lickitungs you run across, mark them for trade, and trade them for whatever garbage he picks up until one rolls perfect for him. Might take a while but it works. I get more perfects through mass trades than I ever have found in the wild.

Morvis42

I have a lickitung from when the game started. It would be a guaranteed lucky trade. I can’t guarantee it would be a hundo but it will be lucky and at least 12-12-12. If you’re ever in Kansas City let me know and it’s yours.

xmrmrx

I accidentally traded my hundo gyarados for a guaranteed lucky mirror trade. Meant to trade the 98% one cause i wanted to lvl it up further as the lucky. Was kind of in a rush and didn't take enpugh time to male sure i'm trading the right one

KinopioToad

I didn't think Pokémon that were traded once could be traded again on *Pokémon Go*.

AudioRejectz

They can't.. I didn't know until this post. When I did the appraisal on my phone to show him it was his special one I was sending back, I didn't try sending it back after we realised what happened, as he had a bit of a meltdown. Then the good people here informed me I would have been able to anyway

BLACKMACH1NE

You can’t trade a traded pokémon

dunBotherMe2Day

Well your son learned a lesson I guess

imkarebu

sent my hundo swampert to home by accident, felt like shit for couple hrs and got over it. im sure a mudkip community day will come 🤷💯

takoUnite

It’s okay you genuinely didn’t know

CarCakeCram

I went to click appraise and accidently traded a 3007 CP Slaking 10 seconds after I evolved it. I worked for that for years. I feel his pain. It was also a genuine accident on your behalf and they should really move that button! Just express how sorry you are and make it up to him by spending more time out playing lol. So sorry this happened!

[deleted]

LOL

kittyken82

Unfortunately you can no fix the mistake.! However you can go out with him and collect a lot of commons like combee at the momoent. Then trade to get 3 stars and 100’s . It’s very satisfying and fruitful.

kittyken82

There are silver linings in this game especially for goal based people!

Swiftsonian

I dont get why you wont accept the lickitungs people are offering because "it's my mistake and I'll fix it". Shouldnt the goal to be to make the child happy? Why does it have to matter to you whether you fixed it directly, or indirectly by asking reddit? By asking others for advice you already arent really solving it by yourself anyway. Hope this doesnt seem nasty at all, it just seems a curious stance to take and doesnt make sense to me. I'm not saying you should do either way, I'm not your kids father, and I'm not trying to tell you what to do by any means.

AudioRejectz

Hi, the reason I'm not accepting lickitungs is I didn't want to turn this into a post where I'm basically asking for handouts. He is happy now, as he got a pokemon last night he's been wanting for a while and I traded him a shiny I had that he liked to him. I'm sending him all my lickitungs too. If anything it was me who was more upset than him, because of his issues he doesn't have friends, so I always try to make sure he's having lots of fun and is happy and I didn't like that what I did caused him to have a meltdown.

Swiftsonian

Sorry man I really didnt need to comment my 2 cents. Im sorry you had to explain yourself, I'd forgotten I'd asked or I would've just deleted my comment. Glad everyones happy again! You sound like a very caring, loving father which your boy is very lucky to have. Have a great week, wishing you many shiny's!

Allira93

Get him to fight all the team rocket grunts and leaders that show up. When you defeat one, you get a chance to catch one of their shadow pokemon. You can purify a shadow pokemon and when you do this, its stats will raise slightly. If you catch a shadow pokemon with high stats, when you purify it, it can max out the stats and make it a perfect one. I think about 4 of my perfects were shadow pokemon I purified. So to increase your chances of getting a high rated shadow, defeat as many team rocket people as possible.

DaRealMikeJones

This breaks my heart, OP it’s such an easy mistake to make don’t feel bad I’m sure the young fella will find more hundos

urbanflowerpot

I could feel this. It’s forgivable, but I know the feeling and as a SN mom I’ve been there. I could feel the impending devastation. You’re amazing for playing this with him. You’re making memories together and one day you’ll catch a shiny and he won’t and you’ll get to give it to him. His attention will waver and you’ll levels will increase. You’ll raid and get cool legendaries and give them to him. Yeah, been there. My son has moved onto other things as a teen now but he is why we play. Feel free to look at my post history and add me on either or both accounts. I enjoy sending presents. Oh! and when you and your son reach best friends sending gifts to each other you’ll have a guaranteed lucky trade! Yay! :)

Hey Trainer, Looks like you might be trying to share or find Trainer codes for the purpose of trading or sending gifts in PokémonGO. **For finding trade partners: visit [TSR map](http://www.thesilphroad.com/map) or google `Pokémon GO + `** **For finding friends: /r/pokemongofriends** **For finding remote raids: /r/pokemongofriends** **For finding remote PvP: /r/pokemongofriends** If neither, contact the mods so they can restore your message, To find trainers for sharing gifts please delete your thread/comment and then go to /r/pokemongofriends to prevent the sub from flooded with trade requests and adding friends, thank you for your understanding. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. stankpuss_69

I think you have a parenting issue rather than a Pokémon go issue. It’s truly not that serious, even to a child. He’ll live. You’re doing him a disservice by making him think everything will go his way because that’s the kind of environment that you seem to vibe at home. His autism is no excuse for tantrums. Autism limits social communication, most of the time not with his parents. At this point, any tantrum or misbehavior you’ll attribute to his autism and will do anything to make him happy again and he knows this.

iNezumi

Oh boy. An advice for any game not just this particular. Actually, an advice for life in general: Google before you do shit. I hope the kid can be calmed down. This would have beeen bad with any kid, but the fact they are on the spectrum and Pokemon might have become their special interest they are tunnel-visioned on probably makes it like hundred times worse.

Gismogul

I’m so sorry for you guys! You can work towards being “lucky friends” and then try trading a 3* with good stats (that’s how you did it a few years back at least) I don’t know if we can trade across the world but if a shiny Eevee, Gastly or Oshawat can do anything to make his day better I’ll gladly trade him one for a caterpie

Jazzisbanasss

Things happen. I have so many stories of trading things I should’ve kept even when I knew better

Amazinc

Just learn basic search strings and teach him how to trade for next time..don't think you need to buy anything for him for him to forgive you for a mistake lol

placarph

Trade him some of your oldest pokemon, they have a higher chance of becoming Lucky! Lucky Pokémon have good stats and cost less stardust to power up. And they have a pretty golden glow behind them, too

okgrace

Try and trade him a shiny he doesn’t have! Everyone loves shinies lol.

Dangerous-Hotel-7839

You could ask him to nicname the pokemon that are important to him on a personal level, or make taggs, its gonna help ALOT

DarkCartier43

if he's into XXL/XXS, don't forget to favorite those too.

Rcrc2001

I label all of my Pokémon I catch using letters and numbers, D for 0 stars, C for 1 star, B for 2 stars, and 3 stars I label them with the stats “1x/1y/1/z”. The stats show bars in increments of 5 per bar, and most 3 stars have stats at 10-15 for all three, with 15/15/15 being the max stats. This can be completed at the end of a walk so you have more time to play when you’re out. This also helps me decide on which Pokémon to keep and which ones I can get transfer (a D before a C before a B before Numbers, before a full 15/15/15).

Daocommand

Oh hey! Also just being interested in your son’s interests shows to him that you care about him. I’m sure you might already know this being his parent, but some people may not know. Keep up being an awesome dad!

jlnbtr

That sucks. I personally put a star on any perfect Pokémon so I don’t transfer it by mistake. I’m in Spain, in you’re close by I’m more than happy to trade with your son so we can try to get him another hundo

deftones2366

As you’ve received a bunch about the issue I’d just like to add that the fact that you care and really are trying to make things right makes you an amazing parent, never forget that.

PKblaze

You monster. Also, you shouldn't use money as a bandaid. Especially not on PoGo.

theyoungazn

Hopefully your son gets a shundo lickitung. It’s hard to find hundo. I also have 2 hundo lickitung (1 is shiny). I have no use for them though lol. I am saving for a nice pvp lickitung.

8BD0

Hey man I just wanted to let you know there is atleast a way for him to see the proof he once had it. It will show up in his 4* Pokedex, but he has to unlock it first, to unlock the hundo/perfect/4* Pokedex you need 20 perfect IV Pokemon, but evolutions count, so 7 hundos that can evolve 3 times and you're good. Not an easy task, but it's possible. I accidentally transferred a hundo weedle, atleast I can now glance upon him in my Pokedex from time to time, even though he is no longer with me 😔

disgostin

i also think unless maybe if thats his favorite pokemon, you can tell yourself eventually you'll get a cool shiny or other pokemon he really wants and then you can trade it with more caution - i think you made a mom-mistake its not that bad you're being great by playing pokemon go to connect with your son <3

BeastDaddy425

That's why when I get a perfect I put a four star in front of the name That way I know it's a perfect and can't accidentally get rid of it I also put a number of what star rating shinies are to keep track of them

bubblrbitch

I ⭐️ my perfects, but I also change their name; I like to add a • to the end of their name (I have an iPhone, I don’t know if that matters), and then I know immediately when I look at it that it’s a perfect. Example: Lickitung • Maybe he has a favorite emoji he could add to the end of each of his perfects’ names? Example: Lickitung 🏆 I hope this helps! Give him a hug from the Pokemon community ❤️ we’ve all been there, and we all know his pain!

sebolist

It’s a game - let’s just remember that

AudioRejectz

Maybe to you, to him it's much more.

connectmenumber9

I can send him something!

minor_correction

Someday your son will unlock the Perfect Dex (a pokedex of perfects). I think it unlocks once you have had 10 perfects. When that happens, your son's Perfect Dex will show that he had once collected a perfect Lickitung. Remember it's gotta catch em all, not gotta keep em all. The game knows and has recorded the perfect Lickitung. Hope that helps.
