(Not OP) No, it's because the regional variant is a Fire & Ghost type. This is just a clever play on the actual name with "Hex" referring to the ghost typing.
Originally I hadnt even thought of giving him a different name but then he learned Hex and it was just too perfect! Also pibu helped more than I had thought he would, took out spiritomb and damged garchomp heavily with play rough and quick attack!
