Unless the military seizes control of blue states in this scenario (which I think is highly unlikely, as the military exists to protect the Constitution not government), most red states will fall apart quickly. Most red states lost any valuable infrastructure and economy once outsourcing manufacturing became popular (which Republican policy is responsible for, ironically enough). They are 100% propped up by blue states, who are responsible for most of the country's tech, agriculture and tax money.
Even some of the potentially stronger contenders like Texas or Florida would be fucked the minute they get hit by a hurricane or natural disaster. The federal government always intervenes and provides support when these things happen on a yearly basis (probably more frequently once climate change ramps up).
People also live in these places because its cheap, but only really visit for family / tourism. If you make tourism travel difficult, say goodbye to some of your bigger sources of revenue. Some big corporations would probably immediately pull out of some of these states. There's no way in hell Disney keeps their Orlando parks open if the New Republic of Florida becomes a reality. Corps will always follow money at the end of the day.
I'm not saying a second civil war is impossible, but there's 0 ways to predict what that would even look like. Part of being the "American Experiment" is being an experiment lol. Aside from the original Civil War we don't really know what would happen. It would be long, messy, and lots of people would die (not from the war part, but from their impoverished states completely falling apart). Let's hope we never get to that point again.
The two largest state economies are California and New York. Red states get billions of dollars in welfare and subsidies from then.

I think the US is "too big to fail", between financially and militarily, for that to happen anywhere near as quickly as some might think.
It won't be a sudden collapse, it'd be a long and slow decline while our resources and influence deteriorate. By the time states start splitting off, it'll be because the central government can't afford to keep them in line and can't be bothered to supply them with food and resources.
Make no mistake, there are some dark times ahead. It's not even a matter of "if" anymore. We might be able to delay this plan, but the only way to end it involves tactics too close for comfort to their own.
It would truly be terrible if that happened. The end of our current era and the rise of China overtaking the world economy (and the end of Ukraine, Taiwan, and maybe even South Korea).

I used to think to myself "We're in the 21st century now. We elected a black US president. We're making progress towards a better world for everyone." Meh. ***WRONG***.
The mindset of people in the far-right Republican Party is no different than the *Confederates of the 19th century*. They're just clad in modern clothes and use present day technology. These people want to return to a time of white supremacy. Clear, wide, stark divisions of economic classes. A majority of people living as indentured servants, while the wealthy class lives it up.
We have domestic stochastic terrorism flourishing before our eyes. Challengers to the pushers of fascism are met with an avalanche of death threats and perpetual harassment. Even witnesses are doomed. Do you know that the far-right has been tenaciously doxing anyone who Trump hates? And once that happens, the threats come. So many of them have to sell their homes and leave to live somewhere else. That's the kind of dynamic the far-right has created.
The SCOTUS must be reformed. Term limits. Age limits with exceptions that require tests and evaluations. And any justice who has been appointed that has shown to be incompetent or corrupt? FIRED. Bribery? FINED and FIRED.

Call them out. Openly tell them that you support immigrants, LGBT+, trans healthcare, abortion, women's rights, etc. They'll probably get angry. Call you a Democrat because they think it's a slur you'll be offended by. But own your beliefs, and remain calm. Let them throw a tantrum, but deny their beliefs to their face.
Outside of that, support those things they hate. Trans healthcare and abortions can be supported by donating to Planned Parenthood or another entity that supports those things like the Satanic Temple. Bonus rage if you tell the MAGA fools that you'll donate in their name.
Tldr: Be an ally, and don't be afraid to proudly voice it.

This is what I need to avoid though. I've had repair guys in my home, who spew 100% non-sense ("Trump is in such good shape and treats his body like a temple!") while fixing my furnace or something. I have a family and kids that depend on me. I am afraid of risking their lives because some guy I hired decided to mess with my equipment and damage it/cause an "accident" with people in my home. It's one thing if I was a bachelor, but I do not want my family to be in harms way.
Time and place, mate. It's one thing to piss off MAGA boomer in the wild. It's another to pick fights with workers taking care of services in your home. Even if they're disgustingly wrong, you still have to pick and choose your battles.
Ask questions, questions that slowly dig deeper into what they are talking about and then compare their answers to the ideals of freedom and patriotism. Then ask more questions all about trying to be a better patriotic freedom loving american.
For instance: Oh you don't think people should be able to transition? Why don't you think an american can do what they want with their body? Should your tattoos be outlawed as well? I'm confused do you think we should mandate what people can do or not? Oh you think the unborn child has a right to the moms body, interesting, so if someone needs a part of you to survive then you should be forced to provide it? That sounds like communism to me, are you sure about that?
You cannot change their mind. Only they can. That is why this approach is good. Do not expect immediate results, however. It can take people a long time to change their mind.
Early on, before they fully go into the vile stuff but are clearly bringing it up, I just smile and cheerfully say “Like, can you believe those guys? I mean, treat my wife, who is freaking awesome, like property? Those turds can get the hell outta here, ya know, friend?”
Obviously made-up dialogue but you might get the idea.
Thing is, sometimes they want to share their opinions because they want a friend. Sometimes they want the friend more than they want the opinions. I offer them an alternative way to feel that - get on board the ‘don’t-be-shitty train’ and I’m your guy!
It usually just leads to confusion and a walk-away, but occasionally they start to seemingly adjust their positions a bit since they aren’t made defensive.
Plus I can stay true to my beliefs without ruining my day with an argument. It’s not perfect, but yields better vibes than an argument that never goes anywhere good.

Can someone explain the end goal to me? I get it that they're true believers, but what about the people who hold the money? If the GOP truly succeeds and tears everything down, then millions of people will be out of jobs. That means they won't have money to spend on stuff. The business owners and billionaires will be very upset if all of a sudden they don't have any customers because nobody can afford anything. Am I missing something obvious here?

And Biden basically already stated he’s not going to do anything and we need to just vote. He needs to fight this and he has no fight in him.

Roe is dead, Affirmative Action is gone, multiple draconian anti-abortion laws have passed through the country, and SCOTUS pretty much said the President (as long as it's a Republican!) is a king and he can do whatever he wants.

With a stacked SCOTUS I’m surprised Americans think all they can do is vote in November. After SCOTUS overturned Roe, Chevron, and ruled on Trump immunity, what makes you think they won’t hand Trump the election like they did Bush when Al Gore was running?

I did a quick calculation of tax revenue by state with the latest data available (2019). States that voted for Biden contributed 62.8% of all revenue while Trump states sent 37.2%. Their plan is going to come crumbling down very quickly when the people who pay the bills decide they'd rather improve their own states and not waste it on the moochers. I use the word moocher specifically because the people who don't contribute are the ones who consider themselves the "real" Americans. FAFO.

Unless the military seizes control of blue states in this scenario (which I think is highly unlikely, as the military exists to protect the Constitution not government), most red states will fall apart quickly. Most red states lost any valuable infrastructure and economy once outsourcing manufacturing became popular (which Republican policy is responsible for, ironically enough). They are 100% propped up by blue states, who are responsible for most of the country's tech, agriculture and tax money. Even some of the potentially stronger contenders like Texas or Florida would be fucked the minute they get hit by a hurricane or natural disaster. The federal government always intervenes and provides support when these things happen on a yearly basis (probably more frequently once climate change ramps up). People also live in these places because its cheap, but only really visit for family / tourism. If you make tourism travel difficult, say goodbye to some of your bigger sources of revenue. Some big corporations would probably immediately pull out of some of these states. There's no way in hell Disney keeps their Orlando parks open if the New Republic of Florida becomes a reality. Corps will always follow money at the end of the day. I'm not saying a second civil war is impossible, but there's 0 ways to predict what that would even look like. Part of being the "American Experiment" is being an experiment lol. Aside from the original Civil War we don't really know what would happen. It would be long, messy, and lots of people would die (not from the war part, but from their impoverished states completely falling apart). Let's hope we never get to that point again.

I think the US is "too big to fail", between financially and militarily, for that to happen anywhere near as quickly as some might think. It won't be a sudden collapse, it'd be a long and slow decline while our resources and influence deteriorate. By the time states start splitting off, it'll be because the central government can't afford to keep them in line and can't be bothered to supply them with food and resources. Make no mistake, there are some dark times ahead. It's not even a matter of "if" anymore. We might be able to delay this plan, but the only way to end it involves tactics too close for comfort to their own.
It would truly be terrible if that happened. The end of our current era and the rise of China overtaking the world economy (and the end of Ukraine, Taiwan, and maybe even South Korea). I mean, hopefully I’d be safe over here in the New California Republic but still.

You cannot change their mind. Only they can. That is why this approach is good. Do not expect immediate results, however. It can take people a long time to change their mind.
Early on, before they fully go into the vile stuff but are clearly bringing it up, I just smile and cheerfully say “Like, can you believe those guys? I mean, treat my wife, who is freaking awesome, like property? Those turds can get the hell outta here, ya know, friend?” Obviously made-up dialogue but you might get the idea. Thing is, sometimes they want to share their opinions because they want a friend. Sometimes they want the friend more than they want the opinions. I offer them an alternative way to feel that - get on board the ‘don’t-be-shitty train’ and I’m your guy! It usually just leads to confusion and a walk-away, but occasionally they start to seemingly adjust their positions a bit since they aren’t made defensive. Plus I can stay true to my beliefs without ruining my day with an argument. It’s not perfect, but yields better vibes than an argument that never goes anywhere good.

We're watching this closely in Canada, and my heart sinks evey time I see the US inch closer to tyranny. I did a quick calculation of tax revenue by state with the latest data available (2019). States that voted for Biden contributed 62.8% of all revenue while Trump states sent 37.2%. Their plan is going to come crumbling down very quickly when the people who pay the bills decide they'd rather improve their own states and not waste it on the moochers. I use the word moocher specifically because the people who don't contribute are the ones who consider themselves the "real" Americans. FAFO.
