So unless I'm reading it totally wrong, younger people are better at reading facial emotions than older people?
And it seems to be a consistent trend downwards as we age. If so, that's the opposite of what I would've guessed, which is interesting!
Perhaps unsurprisingly women are better than men.
Eh, as a human ages, certain parts of their brain starts to decay that involves complex thinking and cognitive abilities.
Suprisingly, reading facial emotions and fluid intelligence (aka, basically how fast you learn and can make connections without any prior knowledge) [both peak in your 20s](https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Schematic-representation-of-fluid-and-crystallised-intelligence-over-the-lifespan-adapted_fig1_328208463).
Perhaps, the parts of the brain that decay that affects fluid intelligence, also affects the ability to read facial emotions.
Got 34. Don't I feel special. Meh. Though, it kinda feels like having the descriptive words makes it pretty obvious in many cases, though there were some where I didn't quite agree with the best option. I guess the idea is for you to fill in the rest of the face to plausibly match the eyes based on each option. I wonder how you'd do this if the description of each set of eyes were completely determined by the test-taker? I also wonder how cultural experience affects the results.
I am autistic as well and got 14. I felt like many of them were the same picture but with different answers. I also felt like they were some form of "wtf" too, probably what I looked like doing it.
22, I don't know how people knew what these meant.
For some, the eyebrows and eye wrinkles didn't have any sort of indication, so I don't know how we were supposed to tell w/o a picture of their neutral eye position.
Total score of 25, was honestly expecting lower

28 with fairly balanced results (everything in 75-80% range) but there were several options I ignored as I’d never heard those words before…
There are many tests where I think I make no mistakes to figure out I made a lot of them. This seemed to be the opposite. I was most of the time completely torn between answers and would have never guessed I was correct most of the time. Unless multiple answers are different levels of “correct”…
I got a 29. Did well with my own sex, but not so great with men. Interesting.
Positive spectre 83%
Neutral spectre 80%
Negative spectre 79%
Eyes of men 74%
Eyes of women 88%
I was quite surprised that I scored 31, since my boyfriend is pretty sure that I'm autistic (and if I were, that would explain a lot). That said, though, a lot of these faces seemed pretty ambiguous to me; I don't really think that there is a single right answer. I honestly think I've only scored so high because I've watched so many movies.
I got a 3, lol. I don't believe anyone can tell emotions from those photos of only eyes.

Most people just don't solely use the eyes for interpreting emotions but also uses the region surrounding the eyes for it as well. [The eye region is quite important for conveying emotions. ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6910684/)
21, but I do consider myself lucky. I definitely had to pick randomly sometimes.
I do suspect autism in myself...
And most of my correct responses was negative stuff - this might be related to trauma, perhaps.
I got 33. I have no idea how, I didn't know like half of them. However, I am indeed very good with reading emotions and faces irl, more than the average person so I guess there's that.
Positive spectre 100%
Neutral spectre 100%
Negative spectre 79%

Eyes of female 94%
Interesting test. I got a 26 so I guess I'm fine. Though I've never been tested, I've often suspected I have a touch of Asperger's, but I guess apparently not. Huh.
I somehow got 32 and I don't know how considering I felt like I had no idea for half of them.
31 and im autistic
31 and I'm not. Wonder what that means for both of us...
22 and I am not lol
Same...good at picking up on expressions so we can mask better maybe?
18… I am… well… I have a very hard time Reading people…

24 - less than I'd hoped. Then I looked at the gender differences. I was 93% on men and only 43% on women. That explains a lot!
I also got 24, more than expected, most of the time I was "That just seems like a deadpan expression" or "None of the options are right"
I got a 28, I was honestly expecting maybe a 23-25
Same. I was not confident for most of them
Oh, I was confident for all of them, I just thought I was confidently wrong lol
31
+1
i got 34! my lucky day i guess haha
I feel like half those words they used to describe emotions were made up
Went with my gut with all of them and got 33, didn't think I'd do that well!
i got 16..

I somehow got 28 as an autistic. 99% of them were random guesses, the only thing I could guess for most of them is that they're some form of "wtf"

27/36 67% Positive 80% Neutral 79% Negative 79% Men 71% Women I actually do have autism so imagine my surprise
22, I don't know how people knew what these meant. For some, the eyebrows and eye wrinkles didn't have any sort of indication, so I don't know how we were supposed to tell w/o a picture of their neutral eye position.
I got 33 lmao My results were Positive Spectre - 92% Neutral Spectre - 80% Negative Spectre - 100% Eyes of Men - 95% Eyes of Women - 88%
I suck at social interactions but I got a 31 somehow

Personally, I think the mouth is sometimes more telling than eyes.
31. I'm quite analytical so I was hoping for a higher score. Some of the latter answer choices were difficult to choose.
I got a score of 30. So I'm slightly above average. Pretty happy with the score
29 and i have diagnosed autism lol. but i also spend a lot of time drawing facial expressions
I scored the lowest (only 30%) in neutral eyes I guess.
I was quite surprised that I scored 31, since my boyfriend is pretty sure that I'm autistic (and if I were, that would explain a lot). I got 25, not great.
I got 28 which is supposed to be average, but apparently I am best at identifying negative emotions in men
29 overall, but I got 100% in negative and 50% in positive. What does that mean?
I got 26. I’m surprised as I guessed 99%. :’)
If they didn't give me options, I would have no idea. But, the options helped a lot and I got the 32+ score
Apparently I can’t read women lol (I got a 24)
I had 100% on the eyes of woman part and just 63% on the eyes of men (I'm a guy lmfao).
I got a 3, lol. I don't believe anyone can tell emotions from those photos of only eyes. || || |Total score| |14\]\[1522\]\[2331\]\[3236\]\[0|**3**| |\[ autism \]|

29 but I don't think I'm better than the average person at it. I really like movies and just answered based on how someone would act the emotion
24, what does that mean?
34/36. Not surprised. People online tend to think/assume I'm ASD.. I'm very much not.
32.
28.5, 19 female and a student
30. Better than I expected!
21, but I do consider myself lucky. I definitely had to pick randomly sometimes. I do suspect autism in myself... And most of my correct responses was negative stuff - this might be related to trauma, perhaps.
I got shitty vocabulary and 23.
21
I got 32 even though I felt like I was just guessing on most of them. 92% positive, 80% neutral, 93% negative, 79% men, 100% women.
28 and have high support needs autism, so it really doesn’t say anything lmao. Love a fun little test though.
I got 33. I have no idea how, I didn't know like half of them. However, I am indeed very good with reading emotions and faces irl, more than the average person so I guess there's that. Positive spectre 100% Neutral spectre 100% Negative spectre 79% Eyes of men 89% Eyes of female 94%
27. Pretty much no difference between reading men and women, but big difference between positive and negative. (92% vs 57%)
damn asking if im male or female, the answer is no, guess I cant continue.
28. I'm surprised I scored that high. I'm not autistic, but I've never been great at reading faces, either.
Interesting test. I got a 26 so I guess I'm fine. Though I've never been tested, I've often suspected I have a touch of Asperger's, but I guess apparently not. Huh.
got 30, im suprisingly goof
Not very good apparently, 26, Positive Spectre- 100% Neutral Spectre- 50% Negative Spectre- 64% Eyes of men - 74% Eyes of women- 71%

Cool test. Suprisingly hard
