Stromae! everyone who took high school french has already heard [Papaoutai](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiKj0Z_Xnjc), but I adore [Tous Les Memes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAMWdvo71ls)... gorgeous video as well.
My sister did French in University, fell in Love with Stromae and his music, told me all about the meaning of Papaoutai and Alors on danse. Also fell in love.
Yes!!!!! His new album is a departure from his earlier works but still great. I saw him in DC last year and it was a great show. He cancelled the European leg of his tour due to health reasons. I hope he recovers soon ❤️
Yes! I've recently moved to France, and Stromae had become my go-to artist when I'm on the tram going to french class! His last two albums are so fucking cool, it's a pity he's only famous for a couple of songs
So happy to see that someone mentioned him here! He’s a creative genius and I’m always in awe of his attention to detail, from his music to his MVs to his live performances. I don’t know much French (took Spanish in school), but I love Stromae.
As a child, my first exposure to Björk was the video of her attacking the reporter (relatable). I love her music but that video is forever ingrained in my memory!
When I was a kid, I remember seeing her music video and being so scared of her.
Then every time she comes up on tv I would leave the room as I was that scared.
Well now, I understand her 😀
I hardly know much of her stuff but I’ve liked her since “Show Me Love” in the late 90s & the odd songs that has made its way to me since.
Dancing On My Own is one of my favourite songs ever. I was so annoyed when it went under the radar when released but when a guy on Britains Got Talent did a sappy slow version of it he got so much attention as if he had written the song & he even released it & did quite well with it!
Dancing on my own was very popular when it was first released. Her whole album was came out when a lot of pop indie electronic music was about like La Roux.
Fun fact about that period: after “Show Me Love” blew up music execs were scrambling to recreate her sound and discover their own versions of Robyn so they could be the next teen sensation. One of the great artists that we have today as a result of this is Britney Spears, which later lead to music execs scrambling to find their own versions of Britney lol

Utada Hikaru.
Learned about her music back like everyone else - through Kingdom Hearts. But her music is more than just a Simple and Clean. Truly, an incredibly innovative artist that changes her image constantly. Her lyrics are ethereal and fascinating. I own all her albums in vinyl, CD, cassette etc like I’m obsessed.

Rosaaaaaaa(lìa)
In the last few years this fine mami has become one of my favorite artists period, and i speak little to no spanish.
My daughter used to be obsessed with him when she was a baby. When she was learning to walk and talk it was all about him. All I’d get was “wo wo wo lady” and his little horse dance. She’s going to hate those videos when she’s older haha
talking of her, did anyone else have her whenever wherever barbie?? i loved it

I loved Shakira since I was a little girl. From the very first time I heard her sing Ojos Así I was like “Who is THAT?!” and I was immediately hooked
Donde Están Los Ladrones, Laundry Service, and Fijación Oral were the albums of my formative years
I love Raffaella she's an icon! And not to be that person, but she does count as latin speaking since all of her songs are in italian and spanish.
I listen to many artists that sing in other languages other than english, for Italian: Elodie, Elisa, Fulminacci, among many others
French: Stromae, Angéle, Lous and the Yakuza, Christine and the Queens
Spanish: Rosalía, Belen Aguilera, Guitarricadelafuente, Arca
German: ELIF, LOTTE, CÉLINE (they all have their names in all caps lol)
and i'm also obsessed with YOASOBI (japanese)
All the Latino/Hispanic icons: Juan Gabriel, Luis Miguel, Chayanne, Camilo Sesto, Raphael, Myriam Hernández, Shakira, Thalia, Paulina Rubio, Mon Laferte
Carlos Vives as well. When they picked him to sing the theme song for Encanto, I thought that was the coolest shit. They could’ve picked someone more relevant, idk who because I’m still stuck on the classics, but they went for authentic and that’s why I love that movie so much
I once stayed at an Airbnb in France. The host had a literal shrine to this woman. Posters everywhere, played her music all day, watched her concert. It was pretty intense. This photo brought me back. LMAO. At €20 a night I can’t complain but I’m still curious about her music. Where should I start?
![gif](giphy|3o6wrEPBjWeWiJ2qvm)
Super Junior, and especially main vocal Kyuhyun (the qtpie in this gif), will always be special to me.
Beast/Highlight and B1A4 too. I’d argue they both have much better discographies as a whole than SJ. But SJ has impacted my life so much since I got into them in 2011.
I’m a reforming kpop fan, what can I say??
![gif](giphy|xUySTIOdORISCW2gH6|downsized)
Hate that this was the only group gif I could find, but twice has been such a breath of fresh air for me this last year or so. I didn’t love their initial cute concept but diving into their newer stuff (fancy onwards), Japanese discography, and their bsides has been so fun. They truly have nailed every genre they’ve tried and the solo and subunit work has been so fun to dive into to. I’ve even warmed up to their earlier cute stuff!
Latin music singers. Chayanne, Ricardo Montaner (before his daughter made me dislike him), Cristian Castro, Alejandro Fernandez. But most of all, El Rey, the king of latin music Luis Miguel

Selena Quintanilla ♥️
I’m from the UK, not many of us Selena fans here, but I’m a top 1% listener on Spotify and have many CDs etc. Love her.
Arijit Singh currently the most popular singer in india and i’d like to think south asia, his song tum hi ho is iconic i’ve seen non-hindi speaking people listening it too and he is currently the 66th most streamed artist in the world with almost 40 million monthly streams its honestly a great feat to achieve coming from india

One of her biggest concerts was in Bulgaria in the ‘80 when she was flown and landed by helicopter to the scene.
Greetings from a Serbian!
Sigrid, Lorde, all Scandinavian and Icelandic artists in general.

French singer Marina Kaye ♥️ Her voice is just so incredible! For anyone who would like to give her songs a go, it is like a mix of SIA and Adele and she sings in English! Very underrated unfortunately!
BTS first & foremost 💜 & Yoongi’s solo stuff as Agust D (tbh all the members solo work but I’m Yoongi biased so 😛) Also love a good deal of Jrock, like Dir En Grey & The GazettE!

Alors on danse is one of my favorite club songs ever. Santé is great too.
Yes!!!!! His new album is a departure from his earlier works but still great. I saw him in DC last year and it was a great show. He cancelled the European leg of his tour due to health reasons. I hope he recovers soon ❤️
Yessss I love to see my tiny ass country represented 😍🇧🇪
Gawd I love him. Saw him in NYC.
Forrrrrmidable
Stromae is a genius imo. Too bad language barrier doesn’t allow the rest of the world to appreciate his lyrics!
I’ve listened to L’enfer so many times, I’m in awe of how real he has become about mental health awareness
Gonna add Indila to this list too. I didn’t take French so I had to look up lyric translations, but that woman knows how to write a catchy melody.
Yes! I've recently moved to France, and Stromae had become my go-to artist when I'm on the tram going to french class! His last two albums are so fucking cool, it's a pity he's only famous for a couple of songs

![gif](giphy|5eF796KN48zDkgk9si|downsized) The Legendary ABBA! They gave us so many classics that still hold up today.
As a Swede, I fought it as hard as I could, and then I sat down and actually *listened*. And damn, it's so good.
so good.
Love them forever!
So glad this is second comment. Their songs are pure happiness and serotonin

Did it go under the radar? I went absolutely nuts for it when it came out.. I just assumed everyone else loved it too lol
It was HUGE in Denmark and Sweden, we live for a sad club hit.
Dancing on my own was very popular when it was first released. Her whole album was came out when a lot of pop indie electronic music was about like La Roux.

Same. I love her stuff.
No one owns a stage quite like Robyn.
Or as someone once described her "the blackest girl in sweden"
One of my favorite YouTube videos is of Call Your Girlfriend (with Taran Killam): https://youtu.be/BPA3I7QeLE8?si=Iv2op9nSPzxoUwR8

I really like Automatic and her english songs had some serious barss
ooh second this!! I had a serious obsession with her earlier this year.. still genuinely believe Automatic is one of the best songs ever made🙏

"Napal Baji" is such a banger 💃
I forgot how infectious this song is. I was supposed to wind down for bed, but I guess I’m overdue for a late night dance session in my room 🕺
PSY has so many bops, without Gangnam Style blowing up the way it did, Kpop wouldn’t be as internationally popular as it is today.
![gif](giphy|cywqNJr4SMCs0) Does Shakira count? If so, Shakira.

Love Elodie and Angéle! But In my post, I meant that Raffaella is not acknowledged enough outside of latin language speaking communities.
I'd add Achille Lauro for Italians🤗
Angèle and Stromae are Belgian 🥰
yeah i know i just meant the language

![gif](giphy|M95roi4JB2xFOsu8W1|downsized) Came here for this one. He has played a huge role in my queer awakening. ❤️
Looove Christine; their latest album is incredible as well!!! Such an underrated group, seriously.
Christine isn’t a group, it’s just him :)
Oh, I never realised! Thanks for letting me know. I can clearly hear it's just one singer but I thought there were also instrumentalists.
tbf it's called christine AND the queens, I thought it was a band as well for a long time lmao
All the Latino/Hispanic icons: Juan Gabriel, Luis Miguel, Chayanne, Camilo Sesto, Raphael, Myriam Hernández, Shakira, Thalia, Paulina Rubio, Mon Laferte
Oh yes the classics! Can I add Vicente Fernandez?
I love Luis Miguel.
Carlos Vives as well. When they picked him to sing the theme song for Encanto, I thought that was the coolest shit. They could’ve picked someone more relevant, idk who because I’m still stuck on the classics, but they went for authentic and that’s why I love that movie so much

The blatant Caribbean erasure. Where are Juan Luis Guerra, Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, and Gloria Estefan?
How can we forget the queen Rocio Dúrcal!
Shakira is my queen! And I grew up with Chayanne, Juan Gabriel, Thalia, Myriam Fernandez, and Paulina Rubio.
No Selena? I haven’t seen her at all in this thread and she sings so many songs in Spanish!
First aid kit! A Swedish folk duo. They’re amazing, I hope they will get more popular

I love Tove but all of her music is in English…
the expression of her non-english vision still counts
The crimes I’d commit to hear her sing in Swedish 😭
Can I name more than one? I'll go by category then. Heavy Metal: Sabaton ![gif](giphy|l3vRb9u4R1sE75qfK)
Kpop: EXO ![gif](giphy|l1KsK7nHbFPMIuVkQ|downsized)
Adding my name to the EXO list!!!
Another heavy metal submission: Alien Weaponry, who sing in Te Reo Māori - the indigenous language of New Zealand
Adding another to the metal one! Shepherd’s Reign, they’re Samoan!
t.A.T.u. of course
If you like t.a.t.u checke out serebro. So many bops.

For some reason I read this as non-British. I was thinking about all the non-British bands/artists that I like and having trouble narrowing it down.
Lol. I thought it meant “not in English”? But I’m seeing English speaking performers, so maybe I’m wrong?
I think it does? But me too. My mind went straight to the Brits though- which is totally my fault lol
it's not your fault lol OP should have said non English speaking, rather than just "non-English"
To be fair that’s what the post title implies

BTS first & foremost 💜 & Yoongi’s solo stuff as Agust D (tbh all the members solo work but I’m Yoongi biased so 😛) Also love a good deal of Jrock, like Dir En Grey & The GazettE! ![gif](giphy|JRJ8eoBH0WAgxM5KMd)

OP it brought a smile to my face seeing Raffaella on my timeline! I grew up with her music and watched her show alll the time
I listen to K-pop so a lot of favorites. Lee Siyeon from a band called Dreamcatcher has a great voice.
