He was saying that the beds the cows lay in have a lot to do with it and the rails on the side because of how they stand up/lay down - constantly rubbing against the metal on the side when they lean against them. Also due to the fact their skin is so thick that they don't tend to see the abscess until it is huge.
They were doing an info video for their sponsor and how their beds work for the cows.
Unfortunately, based on the location of that abscess, there's a very good chance she got it as a result of milking (in an indirect way). First thing that comes to mind any time I see that in a dairy cow is an iatrogenic infection from routine oxytocin injections to the biceps or semitendinosis that many farms give to some of their cattle once they're in the parlor to speed up milk let down & slightly increase milk yield.
I can hear the potential voice over in my head when the cow shakes the leg "out damn spot" or "my milkshake brings all the boys" song. My brain is definitely too sleep deprived
What propaganda? Don’t cut tails off dairy cows - how outrageous!
I live in dairy cow country. None of our cows have their tails cut off. So take your hill and shove it.
That's what's known as a tail jack; it's a quick & easy means of distracting a cow temporarily and reduces the chances of her moving or kicking. As soon as the stab incision was done they could drop the tail.
Repeated injections of various things to speed up milk production and yield, along with antibiotics.
There's also far more cows that there'd be in a natural environment. There'd be the same number as bison or another comparable creature. In the wild it would get better or die, but it probably wouldn't get on in the first place.
Call me naïve but what distresses me more than anything is saying that these cows are stuck with their heads between bars. Imagine not being able to change positions at will. Miserable.
I'm going to assume they all needed something done, whether abscess drainage or shots, normally they don't keep them with their heads like that all the time, or at least I don't think they do, from what I've seen they get areas to eat before their milked. Animal consumption for meat or dairy is a terrible practice all around due to how many people waste meat, so the animals go to waste. It's a vicious cycle. People feel that they have to eat meat every meal, but even just switching to vegetarian meals 1/3 or 2/3 meals out of a day would make everything more sustainable. At least that's my thought.
Most likely the cow is fine. I think I saw this video a year ago and, with antibiotics given to the cow, it should have made an easy recovery.
These animals are surprisingly tough/resilient for being essentially giant puppies.
Source: Have raised cattle and worked with them. Comes with being an Oklahoman who lived in the country.
Because 1 it’s safer to have the cow in the head gate which is where food is served.
2. Barns are easily flushed clean
3. None of the animals are bothered, including the one who is being treated.

Watched a video from the Hoof GP the other day explaining how these happen and why they don't get caught till they're the size of a planet.
Love the hoof gp♡♡
He is a cool dude.

Also, abscess*. Abbesses means something different as well.
That must give her so much relief. The pressure must be nuts.
Pretty sure heifers don't have nuts. /s
I see you FrillySteel. I see what you did there… 😉
“Hey, Betty, would you mind *not* spraying your puss all over my leg?”
*Pus
That's a really weird way to milk her.

Forbidden Milk
Little bit of strawberry milk at the end too!
You wrong lol!
Now enriched with Protein! ✨
Lol my first thought was the same damn thing
Can you imagine the relief that cow felt?
I can hear the potential voice over in my head when the cow shakes the leg "out damn spot" or "my milkshake brings all the boys" song. My brain is definitely too sleep deprived

Given every other cow we can see has a tip on their tail I'd say her tail was amputated for a vetinary reason.

Funny how you delete your comment, leave it up. Let reddit decide
It folded like an empty paper bag
ah yes, the leg udder
I hope the cow is alright now!
Poor creature. That must’ve been a lot of pressure on that leg. I bet it feels better.
Poor little cow. That must have been so painful
poor girl :(
Why was he holding her tail open lol and then realized it wasn’t necessary halfway through
That's what's known as a tail jack; it's a quick & easy means of distracting a cow temporarily and reduces the chances of her moving or kicking. As soon as the stab incision was done they could drop the tail.
Imagine the smell
The McDonald's milkshake machine is finally working again.
Why do cows seem to get these so much more than other animals?
Repeated injections of various things to speed up milk production and yield, along with antibiotics. There's also far more cows that there'd be in a natural environment. There'd be the same number as bison or another comparable creature. In the wild it would get better or die, but it probably wouldn't get on in the first place.
Forbidden milk.
Legnog!
I got to do this once when I stopped my tractor-trailer in PA to visit a buddy of mine. Did it in a kilt too.
Cow abbesses? Like they live at a cow abbey? And workship some dark bovine religion?! I have so many questions...
hmmmm the strawberry yogurt at the end.
Dude that is so sick, funny as hell but sick none the less! 😂😂😂but for real poor cow, hope it’s ok now.
"Puss". No. A cat wasn't popped.
I like how the cow is shaking it out
DID BRO JUST STAB A COW
How else do you think lancing an abscess works?
That’s how cottage cheese is made.
Hole milk
Nature done fucked up. The milk isn't supposed to come out of that part.
Aw poor girl
Amazing how the cow starts kicking to get the rest out
Love how it was shaking it's leg to empty it itself 😂
I think you missed the abscess and hit an udder!
Call me naïve but what distresses me more than anything is saying that these cows are stuck with their heads between bars. Imagine not being able to change positions at will. Miserable.

Is there any follow up on this? Would like to know whether the cow has recovered
They hold the tail up to try to keep the cow from kicking and to be still. After the abscess was cut open, it wasn't necessary anymore.
She just bloody shanked that cow.
Holey cow.
Is my anatomy wrong ? I didnt think milk came from that area
That's a lot of cottage cheese to just throw on the ground
Strawberry milk
Oh always wondered what 3% milk was
I was pretty okay... until the chunks started coming out.
How long does it take to get that big? I feel like they could have popped that ages ago, no?
All that milk, wasted.
so that’s where milk really comes from
New way to get yogurt, ferment it IN the cow
Well, there’s your problem…
[удалено]
It was probably cut to keep her ‘cleaner’. It’s unfortunately something that’s done a lot
Me personally I'm always trying to pop my puss
Felt a tickle
That has to feel better
Oh, that poor girl.
Forbidden milk
I wish my water pressure was that good.
I hope that felt better afterwards.
Heavy cream
Forbidden milk
gagging but cant stop watching
Imagine if Human zits commonly got like this... but all pus. Or puss, depending on your preference. LOL
forbidden milk
Forbidden milk. Like really forbidden.
Just go vegan so cows don’t have to go through the torture that makes them vulnerable to this shit.
🙄🙄🙄🙄
I thought the milk was stored in the udder?
Why wouldn’t you do this outside instead of in the barn? Or at least away from other cows.
Because 1 it’s safer to have the cow in the head gate which is where food is served. 2. Barns are easily flushed clean 3. None of the animals are bothered, including the one who is being treated.
Ah yes, this is where heavy cream comes from
People with giant breast implants
Looks like cottage cheese lol
Never drinking milk again
And this is how they make strawberry milk kids lol
Yeah I'm dairy free at home for this reason.
This milk tastes different…
Is that really pus or was it some of the actual milk that got diverted into that sac and what we’re seeing gushing out?
That was actually pus, no milk whatsoever.
Abbesses- A female superior of a convent of nuns, regularly in the same religious orders in which the monks are governed by an abbot; also, a superior of canonesses.
So that’s where buttermilk comes from!
So this is where strawberry milk comes from
Forbidden milk
I work with cows daily and I cannot wait till I get to see/do this myself
The dog will be along shortly to lick all that up
yes. this is the kinda thing i come here for
Secret bladder
You needed a bucket that you could then kick over.
The third udder.
That other cow didn’t do nothing to deserve this.
Our family raised cattle in Oklahoma; I can smell this clip.
Yeah sorry. We’re fresh out of Strawberry Quik.
Cursed milk
https://i.redd.it/950bbkx5qada1.gif
Holy cow
Jesus wonder how much that weighs
Strawberry-banana smooooooothie. Yummy!
Got milk?
Just my average morning piss ohhhh yeahhhh
I know this is normal standards, but damn, that is so unsanitary!
Fresh milk! 😛
So that’s how strawberry milk gets made.
The milk is coming out of the wrong spot. man and they let it run without a bucket, what a waste...
I can smell it through my phone
Chunky milk.
This cow is full of milk
This is how strawberry milk is made
Probably not the best milk to be using in your cereal
Shamk
What a waist of all that good milk.
Milked the wrong udder
Are you sure it is not a hidden milk pocket?
forbidden milk
They’re letting all the milk leak on the floor!
Ohhh so that’s how cottage cheese is made 🤔
forbidden milk
Bros cumming from his leg
