Fact: my grandfather was classified 4F in 1942 b/c of a pilonidal cyst. Had to have surgery and spent months recovering . Not sure why it took so long but it kept him out of WWII
I had to have mine operated on twice and then my dog tripped me down the stairs and busted my stitches open and had to be bed ridden after surgeon decided he couldn’t close it again
Thankfully long ago. Healed fine eventually but now I have a large scar extending from my butt so if my shirt ever rides up people mistakenly think they can see my butt crack
Don't they basically tunnel down wherever the fuck into the skin, so it's not just a cyst there at the site of the hole, if it's been there a while? They have to cut quite a bit to get all of it, or else it will just come back immediately
During WWII it came to be known as "Jeep Driver's/Rider's bottom" due to the high incidence amongst soldiers who spent much of their time riding in the poorly-cushioned Jeeps (& tanks) of the day over rugged terrain; I can't remember the exact number but there was an astronomical number amongst the Allied forces - something like 100k reported cases over the course of the war.
In my case the wound didn't get stitched, so I had to wait 2 months for it to close naturally, you have to clean it everyday and is one of the worst pains I've ever felt in my life
Same. Mine burst after getting infected and didn’t know what it was. I had a plastic surgeon my girlfriend worked for dig into to stitch it up and that’s when I found out it was a pilonidal cyst. He freaked out when he started pulling out all the hair. He then sent me to a specialist to properly remove everything. I had to pack it daily with gauze for months making it difficult to sit down. Luckily my pre-med girlfriend was totally into doing all the packing and maintenance while it closed up. It was pretty awful.
My husband has had 4 surgeries now on his pilonidal cyst. He spent months in recovery. It’s been 10 years since his last surgery, but it still drains from time to time.
Sometimes, they’re able to get the sack out and sometimes they aren’t.
However, he is in the army and they’ve never tried to discharge him or anything because of it.
Ughhhh I have a huge, multichambered pilonidal cyst that I’ve had for 20 years. Didn’t have insurance for a long time and now I do I just keep putting off getting it removed
Waiting until it gets inflamed again likely will be much worse than having it done while everything is calm. I can only encourage you to have a consultation about it very soon. Those little shits like to quietly tunnel, and it may burrow into formerly healthy areas while you are reading this. Please take care of yourself.
It’s definitely much better to get it cleaned out and taken care of when it’s not actively infected, in my teens I learned the hard way local anesthesia usually don’t work very well on infected tissue. I had to have an abscessed ingrown hair in my bikini area lanced, drained and packed at the hospital and felt EVERYTHING despite the massive amounts of lidocaine they injected into the area.
Oh yeah, that, too.
Infected areas have a different ph level than other tissue and that messes with the effectivity of local anesthetics, u/TouchMyWrath
the hair doesn't grow in there, this is a gipps procedure, where they cut out the pits or 'pores' that lead into the pilonidal sinus itself and then it all closes up afterwards without the pits being there, hopefully. so it's like already there, but hair can get trapped into those little holes, they look bigger here since they cut around them to cut them out, it's usually more fine hair, like body hair, but you can get like your partner's hair or, in my case, it was my little dog's hair caught in my sinus, her coat is v stiff and short, but its usually not this much hair at all since it has to kinda thread into there like a needle.
My friend's kid had this once. Is it an ingrown hair that keeps growing and growing inside your body?. My friend said it like went close to the spine and it had to heal as an open wound.
For anyone who doesn't know what that is, a pilondial cyst is one that forms right at the point of your tailbone, i.e. where your buttcrack starts.
As someone who had one, they are a literal pain in the ass.
It very much so bothers me when most of the action in a video is either at the edge of or out of frame. The camera person obviously wasn't the same person performing the surgery, meaning it was likely their ONLY JOB to film. And they failed at that one single job. Whoever was holding this camera needs to be exiled immediately.

Just don’t send it into Locks of Love.
I’d locks of love to get this comment out of my brain.

I think they’re notoriously difficult to treat. I know someone whose pilot career got completely derailed because of one.
I had to have mine operated on twice and then my dog tripped me down the stairs and busted my stitches open and had to be bed ridden after surgeon decided he couldn’t close it again
How long ago was that and how are you doing now?
Thankfully long ago. Healed fine eventually but now I have a large scar extending from my butt so if my shirt ever rides up people mistakenly think they can see my butt crack
"Noooo, that's not my crack, it's my booty surgery scar. See!"
I’ve had this discussion more than I care to admit lol.
That made me laugh far more than it should have. Thank you for your service.
Ouch!

I was in bed for weeks recovering from my surgery. It sucked

*Ass-tro-nomical
Or they might be talking out of their ass
Interesting read - https://brisbanesurgeon.com.au/news/jeep-bottom

Mine also wasn’t stitched closed and took two YEARS to fully close up. I had issues for at least a year until it started to close internally.

You know the drill. Make the appointment, bring somebody with steady hands, and film that baby being birthed.
That sounds horrible please make an appointment and film it getting removed.
You could make a mini toupee with it.
You could make a cool little custom "troll doll" with it.
That is a whole ass Merkin.
Ass-Merkin*
For really hairy dudes who just like to feel freshly shaven?
Why it kind of look like one of them troll dolls
Rusty pliers would have taken care of that faster
We gotta GAPER!
This caption made NO sense until I watched the clip

Just going to pop this right [here.](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3263034/)
Now thats a hairy situation.
Honest question: Does the hair grow back?
the hair doesn't grow in there, this is a gipps procedure, where they cut out the pits or 'pores' that lead into the pilonidal sinus itself and then it all closes up afterwards without the pits being there, hopefully. so it's like already there, but hair can get trapped into those little holes, they look bigger here since they cut around them to cut them out, it's usually more fine hair, like body hair, but you can get like your partner's hair or, in my case, it was my little dog's hair caught in my sinus, her coat is v stiff and short, but its usually not this much hair at all since it has to kinda thread into there like a needle.
Thanks for explaining. I'm sorry for you and anyone dealing with this. It seems painful!
Thank you for the great explanation!
Yesss these are my absolute favorite because it’s like no way you locks of hair, you ABSOLUTELY do not belong six feet under deep in the butt
"You ought not killed my little brother, he should've had a chance to grow up. He woulda had fun some time."
Wow, just wow.
Pilonidal sinus is a real pain in the arse. I had one for years before getting it fixed.
How did you fix yours?
Surgery. They cut out all of the affected meat from the top of my butt crack. Ended up with 6 stitches from memory and about a month to heal
This looks like it could be at the top of an asscrack too
Right on top of the crack, by the tailbone. Source: had one years ago :(
Yeah that's the common spot
Just had one earlier this year, some of the worst pain I had ever been in
I regret not becoming a dermatologist.
Who would have thought Sasquatch was hiding right above this guys asscrack.
Sweet ass ponytail yo.
I loved this
I have one of these - heckin sucks
When the drain clogged.
My friend's kid had this once. Is it an ingrown hair that keeps growing and growing inside your body?. My friend said it like went close to the spine and it had to heal as an open wound.
No, hairs near the pilonidal sinus pierce in and get trapped in the sinus, eventually leading to an infection.
Okay. As I understood it, her son's cyst had a bunch of growing hair it, all coiled up. I'll have to ask her about it or look up the condition.
Headline made absolutely no sense to me. And then I watched the video and all became clear…
I love tiny holes that are actually way deeper than they look.
Impressive!
Id love this job. Impacted hairs is life.
Bye, wig
Wow, I hated that so much
oh, so saiyans are real
That was so sexy
One of the better videos of the year at the end of the year - bravo!
l have hair inside my butt too, hipe it doesn't turn out like this, haven't gone to the doc yet
For anyone who doesn't know what that is, a pilondial cyst is one that forms right at the point of your tailbone, i.e. where your buttcrack starts. As someone who had one, they are a literal pain in the ass.
HOW does this happen?
The gift that keeps on giving! At least these guys are wearing gloves.

Imagine flossing with that
Read this as twig and was very confused for a good 3-5 seconds.
What the fuck did I just watch
It's a whole wig
I can only imagine how uncomfortable that had to have been!
Hair today, gone tomorrow.
This may be the greatest extraction I've ever seen. Hot damn.
What in the ass?!?!
WHAT

My mom used to tell me she had a tail and now I get it.
