Ouch, this hurt. I really enjoyed Beyond The Wire and am still very disappointed that it never panned out the way they intended. Honestly had more fun on that than squad.
The only logical way to fix this is to implement Squad 44 (Post Scriptum) and Beyond the Wire in one single game (Squad). Players could choose to have WW2-only servers or WW1-only servers.
All games are same engine and same concept, only the mechanics change a bit.
I donāt necessarily hate the logistics update but it definitely killed a little bit of enjoyment I had. I get that they wanted to pull squad players, but what they donāt understand is by doing that theyāve just made a shittier squad.
I love squad but I played PS as an alternative to it, not a reskin with bolt actions. If I wanted the squad logistics and squad leading systemā¦..Iād play squad.
Squad in some respects feels horrible to play anyway. On open maps there's so many vehicles and people doing things other than fighting as infantry that defending an objective eventually becomes a lonely experience.
The fighting can just become so dispersed and sporadic. Then the round ends and it's not uncommon for no infantry player to have more than 10 kills. It's such an alien experience from the earlier versions of the game (eg. squad v9) where 90% of the server were infantry fighting with irons/red dots over an objective.
I heard logi changes were made to help clean up the game from spaghetti code, so they are work-in progress kinda.
I thought most people stopped playing because of regular crashes, e.g. my game crashes every other map, usually at the end screen.
Cleaning up spaghetti code is an admirable goal. But that's no excuse for making mechanical changes to the game that sap the enjoyment out of being SL or Logi SL.
Fixing bug was asked from the community old logisystem had infinite sandbag bug which needed whole system to be redone to fix.
You ask you get.
Im fine with current changes even the complainers get msp back and every logi player can build fob then.
>Fixing bug was asked from the community old logisystem had infinite sandbag bug which needed whole system to be redone to fix.
Even with the example you gave, the cure was worse than the ailment. Infinite buildable bug didnt really negatively affect the gameplay of any map except maybe Arnhem. Yet even that was band-aided with the build exclusion zone from river bank.
The bugs that people hate were ones that destroyed gameplay. Window bug, marking bug, AT gun desync, tank damage desync and so on. Destroying the flow of the game to try and fix a bug which had very little negative gameplay effect (and sometimes had even a positive gameplay effect by lowering logistics burden) was definitely not a good choice.
Why couldn't the old functionality just be replicated (just with less bugs)?.
Thatās another significant factor, but people much more knowledgeable on game development than I have spoken on it in detail already. Figured Iād speak on something I have experience with.
well the game that did copy squad (hell let loose) is extremely successful. so i feel PS not doing that off rip made any players that liked squad, they just went to hell let loose. like me. I own both and PS sucks lol.
I didnāt mention my opinion as to which game is better, simply that they target different player bases. Which they do.
I donāt think HLL is as far removed from games like Battlefield as you suggest, console compatibility being a big reason. Itās inherently more casual, mind you that is not a fault, than games like Squad or arma or PS. Similarly, Squad is inherently more casual than Arma. To recognize a game is meant for different people is not to think a game is worse because of it.
my whole friend group who love squad, have around a thousand hours. they call it ww2 squad. i have about 400 hours in squad and about 200 on HLL. It is ww2 squad. When i played PS, then played HLL a year later they felt the same. just no stupid water system and better maps. everything else feels roughly the same. only thing i can think of thats huge in the difference is people being able to res their teamates. never happens on HLL
edit: whatever āplayer baseā they are doing PS for obviously does not exist
Hell Let Loose isnāt ww2 Squad, they play entirely differently. It seems like youāve reached that phase in both games where you think you know what youāre doing but you really donāt.
And yes you are correct. That player base PS is trying to appeal to doesnāt exist, thatās what everyone is up in arms about.
Im still playing but hate the new update. Removing the msp and vehicle tent ruins plenty of games where the defender has no spawn and has to afk in hq until the game is over. Fob on the defence point is also stupid as fuck.
Basicaly every map now is in heavy fog or dusk/darkness which makes it extremly hard to see enemys.
I rarley wanted to squadlead but after the changes i completly stopped, because i dont want to deal with fucking fob building. If i wanted to build fobs i would have joined the logi squad.
Give the option to abandon vehicles on the map so they can respawn in the base. Bring back msps. Bring back timed fixed spawns for the defender after losing a point. Make it several fixed points so enemy cant just camp one spot.
I said the logi update sucks and every ow fanboy on this sub says no no new update is great. Now the game is dying, again, much sooner that the first time. Good luck boys.
The new update is good and look on future patches which bring one msp and every logi member is able to build.
The negative attitude is what kills the game. Devs have one year to make the game better for owi. If they fail which i dont hope the whole game gets sacked.
Pretty sure theyāll be changing it. The system as it was was causing massive fps drops so they changed it to fix the code and find a better solution in the long term.
Good news is, they have been working on that since buying the game. They recently gave an update on discord that they had already fixed some mayor fps drops
RO2 is just an epic fucking game tbh. But PS deserves more for some reason their updates just further kill it. I don't think anyone ever said "I wish this game was more like Squad" but for some reason they tried to unify it to be so.
I stopped playing because the game ran like shit on the lowest settings with a 3060 and I7 8700. Iāve since upgraded to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D so maybe it wouldnāt be so bad now.
I dont know how everyone gets such bad settings. I just bought a prebuilt pc for 1000 and i run it 4k 75 fps on epic settings. Cyberpower pc gamer supreme
Honestly the update killed a ton of the game's strategy. Now we don't have FOB hunting because someone thought it was a good idea to let FOBS be built directly on the point. Turned the game into a meat grinder
The drop in FPS and loss of MSPs is why I put a pause on playing. They said they'll fix it so imma wait for that.
Though the logi changes do bother me a bit. As someone who enjoys playing logi in videogames, squad's system bothered me. It relies on infantry sections also being the ones to build bases, which is fine, but most players play infantry to shoot, not sit around with shovels and dig.
PS was nice, one person could easily move an MSP, and bam! You got a new spawn point. No, trying to hide the fob radio, no assembling a 30 man group to dig up the hab. Just one and done.
All I wanted in PS was the ability for logi to build more Habs cause the limit of 2 per team was stupid. One engineer in a jeep was all it took to eliminate all the Habs faster than logi could drive to spawn and back. Or at least lower the cost of Habs so I wasn't wasting a truck of materials.
With RO2 its kinda fine to play at any moment, regardless if the servers arenāt full. If you have like 45 people on one server, it feels similar to a full one (plus most have bots to fill up the count to 50 players, they are just essentially cannon fodder).
With Squad 44/PS (and many tactical shooters in general), having a server that is only half-filled feels empty. Thats like two squads and a a bit of spare change.
Was playing for a bit right after OWI took over. But there's been a bunch of good releases (Helldivers, palworld, ect) lately and I personally have a decent amount of time already in the game.
I'll be back for any big updates and I'll likely stick around for a couple months after. But as of right now theres a lot of other games I'm in love with right now
I haven't been playing but I just upgraded my pc and was going to try and get back in. But hold the fuck up, they removed msps? LOL WHAT!? HOW DID THIS MAKE IT TO RELEASE? Unreal. Nice move, bozos.
Man i remember playing way back when it first came out and the servers were so full, now hardly anything. It is basically squad but WW2 so idk why its not as popular especially since games like Hell Let Loose is very popular
Iāll never understand why they went and made a completely whole new game out of this instead of just putting it in the workshop or mods or DLC or something
RO2 is way more accessible and casual, so it's easier to retain the playerbase atleast a little bit. Post Scriptum on the other hand requires a lot more knowledge and experience, and playing with people who don't have that makes the game shitty, and when your playerbase is already almost dead there's really not much coming back from that.
Besides, may aswell play Hell Let Loose anyway. More players and more polished.
Post Scriptum already had only a hardcore fanbase, and if you make changes to the very base of what that hardcore fanbase liked about their baby, they'll cry and leave. Not that it concerns me. I am a random forever rookie player of PS for years, and so I haven't seen the game being less fun. I am also pretty sure that the hard-cores will return once some changes are reversed. Not much to loose here, as the game had a tiny player base before that as well.
When it changed to squad 44 my game disappeared from steam and Iād have to purchase it again I guess if I wanted to play again. Think Iām done with thisā¦
I've been considering the jump from HLL because the game is absolutely flooded with xbox players now who can't be bothered to learn the game; assuming it's a COD Clone.
Glad I saw this, because I've been worried about the player base here as well.
I knew it would only go downhill when they changed the games name from Post Scriptum to Squad 44. It sounds like a generic mobile game COD ripoff. The graphics got downgraded, and logistics is unplayable now.
Most self entitled community ive ever seen. Lost so much faith in it. They get what they deserve at this point. They literally abandoned it no different than the original devs all because of some changes that if you had half a brain you could easily be successful at. Eg. Fob placements. Whatever dude. Game is great. People are just spoiled brats.
Yea, its pretty bad rn. Reminds me of Beyond The Wire. Guess we are all "waiting for them to fix the game" now. Famous last words
Breaking my hand in 5 different places hurts less than this coment. Source: i did broke my hand horibly
RIP, hope your hand feels better soon
6 pins and a 2cm rod š Thanks š«¶š»
2cm? that's huge.... or so I've been told. I know the feeling, hope you heal up nicely friend.
Yo 2cm is big? Im feeling more confident now š
At least your hand will heal before this abomination has been fixed
And I broke my finger horribly (1 month without playing anything!)
Ouch, this hurt. I really enjoyed Beyond The Wire and am still very disappointed that it never panned out the way they intended. Honestly had more fun on that than squad.
Don't remind me of Beyond The Wire š
The only logical way to fix this is to implement Squad 44 (Post Scriptum) and Beyond the Wire in one single game (Squad). Players could choose to have WW2-only servers or WW1-only servers. All games are same engine and same concept, only the mechanics change a bit.
That would be cool, sort of like Project Reality. You had ww2 maps and modern era.
No, fuck that. Squad and the modern day can stay \*very\* far away from my WW1/WW2 content

Completely agree
my exact same experience
Squad in some respects feels horrible to play anyway. I literally jump back to squad after AFK for three years.
I heard logi changes were made to help clean up the game from spaghetti code, so they are work-in progress kinda. I thought most people stopped playing because of regular crashes, e.g. my game crashes every other map, usually at the end screen.

Actually its been ww2 squad since beginning. You cant shrug that out its being really dishonest.

Agreed, Logi update killed squad leading for me
Same! I still like the game, but no SL for me anymore.
I said the logi update sucks and every ow fanboy on this sub says no no new update is great. Now the game is dying, again, much sooner that the first time. Good luck boys.

yeah SL had enough to deal with. Now they have to deal with FOBS too...wtf?
i have to play in 720p to have 30fps... i ain't gonna play until they do something
Good news is, they have been working on that since buying the game. They recently gave an update on discord that they had already fixed some mayor fps drops
Itās worse than pre update for many
Hey daloneguy I play it sometimes right now maybe we can play together sometimes again Greetings smitje from wft
oh hi lol
Somehow I don't have any problems what FPS is considered haha
i have a shitty pc it used to run better but it's unplayable since they added the normandy maps
RO2 is just an epic fucking game tbh. But PS deserves more for some reason their updates just further kill it. I don't think anyone ever said "I wish this game was more like Squad" but for some reason they tried to unify it to be so.
Too many disliked the changes for the game to stay alive.
But according to the devs us naysayers are wrong lmao
its a major time commitment, and i have work, and after-work-work, and bonus work
You live to work when you should work to live
For the record I hate working. I just have to because I like to eat
I stopped playing [but am not encouraging people to stop just because I didn't like] because of the changes to logistics.
It be like that
R02 IS STILL THE GOAT
I stopped playing because the game ran like shit on the lowest settings with a 3060 and I7 8700. Iāve since upgraded to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D so maybe it wouldnāt be so bad now.
Narrator: It was still bad.
Legit reason to quit
I dont know how everyone gets such bad settings. I just bought a prebuilt pc for 1000 and i run it 4k 75 fps on epic settings. Cyberpower pc gamer supreme
Honestly the update killed a ton of the game's strategy. Now we don't have FOB hunting because someone thought it was a good idea to let FOBS be built directly on the point. Turned the game into a meat grinder
I'm busy spreading managed democraxy
Same here lol. Would love to return to PS once the dev time gets some iterations in. Helldivers is too fun atm
Same except it comes in the form of hating life on camp Schwab
The drop in FPS and loss of MSPs is why I put a pause on playing. They said they'll fix it so imma wait for that. Though the logi changes do bother me a bit. I donāt have too much time to play so I mostly focus on the weekends
Fuck I need to get back into some RO2.
RO2 was one of my favorite games ever and I miss when it had at least a few consistently full servers
RO2 mentioned šØšØ
Don't worry, The new players are coming in any day now.
Because logi change sucks. Told you so.
There was huge hype after OWI bought it but then it died down because wellā¦. nothing significant really happened. Yet of course that is.
It's sad both games barely have players. RO 2 Vietnam is the shit tho. Tons of fun. I miss being able to enjoy PS with more players.
People dont like the recent changes. Off hours on an already low player count game
Probably because everyone is getting high on MANAGED DEMOCRACY right now.
I'm about to get a new computer so I'll get playing soon
I think the last patch was a good turn. I simply dont enjoy s44 as much original squad
It's pretty early for Europe and the middle of the night for the US, what do you expect?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I think the RO1 mod Darkest Hour has more players than that...
Darkest Hour is awesome though.
With RO2 its kinda fine to play at any moment, regardless if the servers arenāt full. With Squad 44/PS (and many tactical shooters in general), having a server that is only half-filled feels empty. Thats like two squads and a a bit of spare change.
The game is still dead.
I jumped back in to play and remembered why I stopped. I'd rather play Squad or HLL.
Because the new developers decided to kill the game, so yeah, RIP PS.
Yeah, of course we don't play. It sucks. It's still Post scriptum, just with a different name and RO2 is still good. Maybe even better.
Was playing for a bit right after OWI took over. But there's been a bunch of good releases (Helldivers, palworld, ect) lately and I personally have a decent amount of time already in the game. I'll be back for any big updates and I'll likely stick around for a couple months after. But as of right now theres a lot of other games I'm in love with right now
Squad 44 is maybe the worst rebrand ever. OWI are so full of themselves itās insane. They completely killed this gameās identity.
Why does it use a smirk š lol
Its similiar to how it was as Post Scriptum. Around 50-100 people. The new dev annoucement brought in alot of people but no one stayed.
Well, PS had more players during 'rush' hours. Myself I'm waiting for an update because I have no fun on the current patch
Everybody is busy with Hell Let Loose
Love when i said im glad i refunded this game people came at me like i committed mass murder lal
No playing on Linux š
This update or what ever its called twas to late many others have moved on to other games, like me.
Buddy its the middle of the week. I gotta work, study and take care of a lot of stuff
I hope the devs read this comment section and realize how bad the new update is
But but, I was told this game isnāt dying outā¦..
Game Is done little updates and chapter 2 maps are still broke. HLL is the next best option for ww2
I haven't been playing but I just upgraded my pc and was going to try and get back in. But hold the fuck up, they removed msps? LOL WHAT!? HOW DID THIS MAKE IT TO RELEASE? Unreal. Nice move, bozos.
It is indeed made in unreal
There is daily more than 300 ppl playing at peak its more then 2 months ago when you had 60
What is squad 44 did they change the name?
Man i remember playing way back when it first came out and the servers were so full, now hardly anything. It is basically squad but WW2 so idk why its not as popular especially since games like Hell Let Loose is very popular
Red orchestra two is objectively a better game at this point
Iāll never understand why they went and made a completely whole new game out of this instead of just putting it in the workshop or mods or DLC or something
Less lags fighting insects for democracy

nope tell the devs to change the game back to how it was
I wanna try this game but stuff like this just keeps pushing me away

They broke the game
When it changed to squad 44 my game disappeared from steam and Iād have to purchase it again I guess if I wanted to play again. Think Iām done with thisā¦
Shit game, lol
Yesterday at 22.40, less than 150 ppl were playing...
I've been considering the jump from HLL because the game is absolutely flooded with xbox players now who can't be bothered to learn the game; assuming it's a COD Clone. Glad I saw this, because I've been worried about the player base here as well.

I'm a tester. Don't worry chaps š
Oh, is this helldivers
What?
One server during the week days and 3 servers fill on the weekend.
Iām on hell let loose sorry
Hell divers 2 brother
