I think they are only a graphic in vanilla and the mod allows you to pick them up, climb them, craft them etc. really feels like low hanging fruit, something the vanilla game will eventually incorporate.
the ladders mod can be added without breaking your game, any ladders already in game (there’s a couple exceptions i think) become climbable and the option to craft/move etc becomes available
I’m almost at 200 hours and had no idea generators explode… good thing I never live long enough for them to get that low or I’d have many burned down bases.
Well that's only if you don't repair it and let it's condition deteriorate. You just need a couple electronic scraps and you're set. Never had any issues with generators over 1100+ hours of gameplay.
Yeah you'll be fine with the trees there. Zeds aren't going to wander to your base. They never do. Only ones that might find you are the ones that follow you from the road.
Use plaster and paint so it looks like a building, unless going for a cabin look. It's extra work but it makes it pop so hard. Bonus if you add moulding to the finished project the contrast in colors looks great (But adding it requres mods)
Very nice! I agree with the suggestion to push the generator a bit away from the structure, just in case.
Also, since this looks like a long-term run out in the woods somewhere, I have a QOL recommendation to consider. If you find that trees and bushes are growing and complicating your driveway, consider "paving" your route through the woods with wooden floors. They will block the undergrowth from popping up which will make your car trips way smoother over time. It's also a nice, long (and relatively safe) project that can train your carpentry skill and keep you busy during the winter. Lots of trees around to provide the planks.
Plant your crops diagonally instead of straight rows and some rain barrels above wherever your sink is and plumb it for clean water. Nice little place though! I love building my own
Nope, you're killing it. Got a generator, freezer storage, rain collector built over what I assume is a plumbed sink, crops/compost, a covered garage, next to a lake for long term water/food supply? My man literally thought of everything.
At the very most, you could maybe add a propane or charcoal grill so you can use propane or firewood to cook instead of using your generator.
Looks like a Quaint forest getaway. The thing that worries me is the lake, I haven’t tried fishing much but when I was at the lake in Muldraugh the “Fish Availability” seemed to be going down so be careful on relying on it for a flood source.
Its only for when i run out of the hundreds of canned foods i have stocked up and while the plants grow. Plenty of time for the fish populus to regrow i would think
I have a fishing hut on that same pond, on the same side as your base
if you are down for using mods id recommend the solar panel mod

and also use gravel to make a road to your base
Im not familiar with building my own base. I only took a existing building, replace all existing furniture with ones from other buildings and expand the base a bit with my own built walls (i have no choice my carpentry is still at lvl 1 (its a 3 month year old save) )
one or two flamingo drinking from the lake could be nice You could also take some flower to put next to the south wall to make it prettier
Gnomes! Hundreds of Gnomes! ![gif](giphy|wosNsGaxczbIA)
I would add a roof above the fridge; a nice base, maybe I should build one too in the future This base reminds me that I need a ladder mod, thank you
Ladder was a mod? Damn it i gotta start another run

Dam i just watched playthroughs on youtube n assumed its vanilla. It did look op
What mod is that? [This one?](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3028658889&searchtext=ladder)

Ill see if we can salvage our last online session tnx

how far away does it work?
20 tiles Within 2 floors (up and down) Reason to move it away is because they explode when they hit low condition.
I’m almost at 200 hours and had no idea generators explode… good thing I never live long enough for them to get that low or I’d have many burned down bases.
20 tiles but I'm never been sure if that's the diameter or the radius

Trees are too close, zombies could sneak up with that coverage. Get a wall going after you knock down those trees
I was juuuuust about to say, get some of them trees cleared. Those would stress me out.
This base has been up for about an in game month and i am yet to see any zombies, i even beeped my cars horn to attract some fun and they never came.
Yeah you'll be fine with the trees there. Zeds aren't going to wander to your base. They never do. Only ones that might find you are the ones that follow you from the road.
A rope in the second floor 😅😅. I like It, good base!
Lots of ropes. I live in that neighborhood and the people are assholes
What location?
Muldraugh lake

Minecraft Ahh base (im just jealous I've never made base by myself and always been a squatter)
Get some water plumbed if you haven't yet. Also, think about building a road. Driving over grass, especially hauling, is a huge pain.
I never build a base because i have no friend to share it with. Life is sad.
share it with Zed friends
Yes i do sometime. I use the police car sirens to bring them closer and party until they fall on the floor
Add a rope to the second floor for escaping and replace the dirty bandage on ur hand
Hit that diner across the street for some cool bar shelves and a fucking beer tap 😎

A reading room.
Looking good but where’s all the gnomes? I always have an army of them!
Seems cozy. The gnome and ice cooler are a nice touch. I like it.
Garage
Yes rope on the second floor and I would think about a fence
one thing i did was build a wooden road to the main road.
I can’t think of any improvements tbh. It looks really nice will all the garage and the porch, and quite cozy by the lake
Turret the second floor corners, bar windows
Seems like a nice base but why so close in the city
Change your dirty bandages?
Omg thats such a cool base congratulations 🎉 I don't think it needs any visual improvements i would just make a storage area.
What about a wall around?.
More roof, more FOOD
Change your bandage
LOVE IT! made me wanna start a new PZ run :O
Having crops side by side like that allows diseases to spread, a single space in between will stop that. Nice job otherwise!
Maybe some walls with a rope next to the water so you dont get ambush by a wandering z while fishing
You went to the place I never thought anyone would
Walls on the back of the roof so you don't accidentally fall off and kill yourself while over encumbered
For a first base, this is really cute \^\_\^ My first several were essentially the equivalent of the minecraft dirt cube.
its... Beautiful
holy fuck 21 months how
Cute base, how did you get glass windows?
pick up windows mod
Plant your crops diagonally instead of straight rows and some rain barrels above wherever your sink is and plumb it for clean water. Nice little place though! I love building my own
Just curious are those windows a mod or vanilla?
Wall, a wall all around the base will do nicely. It's alot of work but gives security and looks cool

Thanks! I have an antique oven inside instead, fits the aesthetic.
walls for the place to do fishing, no need to be careful if some zombies get sneak bite at u
So crazy, I just finished setting up a little holiday fishing shack out at this location for a mp server!
Looks like a Quaint forest getaway. The thing that worries me is the lake, I haven’t tried fishing much but when I was at the lake in Muldraugh the “Fish Availability” seemed to be going down so be careful on relying on it for a flood source.

Very nice. I also hope someday they add the ability to make roofs and not just flat floorboards.

Very nice aesthetic. Maybe an outer wall or at least some fencing to slow the zeds down?
Walls on the outside so no stray zomboid can get in that easy

Get rid of David the Gnome, he's a spy working for the zeds.
