>I think this duo is one of the few bands that keeps making solid songs that aren’t trying to be some “TikTok” hits… you really need to listen to more music

Dependent_One8948

But yeah, should have written it in better way..

Dependent_One8948

That’s why I put “few” in that sentence and not “the only”. And by “few” I meant bands that are recognisable in today’s world that really deserve it and don’t sell out through “TikTok” trends. That’s what I meant.

Certain_Suit_1905

it's just such a low bar. there aren't "few" bands that do that. that's why they said you should listen to more music, because there are a lot of good music out there

Standard_Winter9714

it was alright no more no less

Aggravating_Cup2306

Fun poppy album but i wish they made a followup to trench that would make this an 8. First three tracks are the right direction

krimzonBlackstar

I’m a big fan of tøp. Been one of my top bands this past year, but I would say their highs are extremely high and their lows are incredibly low. Clancy was the closest they’ve gotten to mediocre in my opinion. Some amazing pop songs like Backslide and Routines in the Night, but some really underwhelming songs like Snap Back and Oldies Station. Trench I see as a masterpiece, but comparing them to Radiohead (not saying you are) is just kind of a different landscape of music. Nice to see some more “diverse” music taste here tho. Awesome seeing some Radiohead fans that don’t automatically hate anything resembling modern pop.

TheSmileLP2Hype

Really? I don't get the dislike for Snap Back. Mind explaining? This is an opinion I've seen a few times before and it confuses me cause I love that one in particular.

krimzonBlackstar

I like the lyrics, it’s just not a song that really clicks with me at the moment. I don’t have a clear, cut and dry answer, it’s just preference I guess. Same with Oldies Station, but Cut My Lip took me awhile to like for the same reasons, so I’ll prob come around eventually.

Bagel3252

Pretty good listening to it rn

Ink-Sack

I’d argue they under-did the concept album with this one. Don’t see what’s obnoxious about it since they barely even focused on the lore on clancy

Dependent_One8948

I have to agree w/ you. Trench is just unbeatable.

PracticalCattle221

Clancy rly feels like they’re trying to redo what made them “popular” in the first place (ie Blurryface and trench). Yea lyrically and sonically it doesn’t touch trench, and tbh this album has a good bit of lyrics that come off as very obnoxious and unlikeable (kind of like on Blurryface). Also personally I love concept albums, but with this it feels like they barely even tried to flesh out the concept. It feels like they’re confused and it makes the album feel disjointed lyrically and sonically.

Opening_Gift_8981

honestly liked it a lot, it has very good songs, love how they don't stagnate in their eras and they are so original:) not their best work tho

NikoMuniz_

I think its very ok, not bad, not good, the first 2 songs are the best on the entire album.

MonkeyPigGuy

I've always felt like Twenty One Pilots were a really bipolar band, but I felt like this album was fairly consistently solid. I was pleasantly surprised!

Agent_Lightning14

it’s decent, definitely not as good as trench, or heck, even blurryface. but still a decent record

Certain_Suit_1905

solid. kinda mid but in the good way? not too emotional, so it's easy to listen, sonically some interesting things happening, but again not too much. better than previous one, not as ambitious and exciting as trench. C+/B-

sakykay

due to a recent loss of a relative in my life, some songs hit just right. not as ambitious as trench i feel like, though to be fair these two are the only twentyonepilots album i've heard. vibe kinda all over the place at times. there are definitely some songs i like less, but no real stinker. it's alright. also i really didn't expect a post on this album on this sub.

ElectricBlue-

Yeah, its definetly not Trench. It has some boops but nothing more. Id rather listen to new Beth gibbons, iglooghost, Boyz noise, Ugly, sewerslvt, LustSickPuppy. New justice lp is not that great tho

RI0TBIRD

I used to love this group as a child. Regardless, I loved Trench upon its release and completely forgot about anything before Trench. I was disappointed by this album. I hope for the 2LP theory to be true.

TheSmileLP2Hype

I'm not sure how related this is to Radiohead, but I enjoy Twenty One a lot. This and Trench are great, great albums. Most of the songs on this album I enjoy a ton. Only The Craving, and Oldies Station are kinda eh. Rest is pretty good.

Positive_Alarm9577

I love twenty one pilots! Been one of my favourite bands for almost a decade now

TheDreamMachine42

I love it. Different from everything they did before, like they always do, and I also love the videos for each song. My favorite band right now, personally, just off the emotional power they have over me, even if I think Radiohead are better artists.

island_is_land

I fucking love it

iamnotkorvellus

disappointing. to me, it was selled as this whole ending arc for the story they were making; but the lore content in the lyrics didn't get my expectations, and the sound of it didn't match that "epic final battle" idea. production is good here and there, but i still think Trench is better in all these aspects, no cap. i think overall, Clancy has too much sound of SAI. even the hardest songs on the album sounds like they could be on SAI with one or two changes in production. and SAI was bullshit to me (which was the whole point of the album in the first place lol).

Ink-Sack

Solid album, still listening on repeat and really loving it. Only got into twenty one pilots in 2022, but been a big trench fan. This doesn’t beat trench, but it’s a somewhat close second for me. It reminds me of blurryface but done much better, since I don’t really like blurryface but seem to enjoy this album a lot. Vignette, navigating, overcompensate and at the risk of feeling dumb are all absolute bangers imo

TyChris2

Alright. Better than Blurryface and SAI but much worse than Trench.

ClaudioMoravit0

I really like twenty one pilots. I listened to the 3 singles but not the entire album yet. Overcompensate and backslide are very good but I don’t like next semester that much. I’ll listen to the whole album soon

Scarecro--w

Aww, Next Semester is one of my favorite TØP songs

iscreamuscreamweall

This post is off topic and shouldn’t be on this sub

irotinmyskin

No idea what that is…

Ink-Sack

How’s the rock above you?

happyidiot123456

It wasn't bad. Bur outside the initial listen, I doubt I'll ever return to it.

Victorbanner

Highly disappointed. Loved vessel. Loved bluryface. Was disappointed with trench but ended up loving it. Hated SAI. I’m disappointed I’m seeing top in September. I miss old top

Kirklai

It lost me after backslide the craving is good I think Jenna's version in the middle of the album is a bit jarring I much prefer the single version take it's place and move it second to last position. I still think trench is their most cohesive album and I think fantano will give a light to decent 6 Edit: I was right he gave a strong 6

closedcircle66

Yeah I liked it quite a bit! Twenty One Pilots were the first band I got into as a kid, they really got me into so many genres, given the amount of them they play with in their music. Their album Trench is near perfect in my opinion, and Clancy has some great songs on it too but it’s not quite as good.

constructionblock

i dont care

InNoNeed

When he went ahead and said “Welcome back to trench” and the record was in fact not like trench at all, I was very disappointed. I’m not talking same style of music, but the thoughtfulness and quality is just lost here. It’s a bad record.
