I'm in agreement with this. Sub 9 was basically the last minute barrier that will most likely ever be possible for RoN. Unless a method to skip the forced waits between phases on Cataclysm appears, there is really not more than a few seconds left to save at max
It's the strats and extreme digestion of the game in that degree that made me realize how insanely high the bar is to get a World's First clear and how there's a whole crop of people of "nobodies" who could easily crush perennial big names. Obviously speedrunning doesn't equate to instant success in that setting but when you play the way in such an insane manner and by instinct weed out a lot of bloat to execution and ideas, it can lead way to tackling things a bit more effectively. I'm not super shocked when a lot of top placements tend to be people who go so hard in the game and do a lot of more challenging feats.
All of the older ones are pretty perfected at this point. Like I can't see how garden would get any faster. They pretty much do every encounter 5 man while the 6th is prepping a pull, so there's no run time. Encounters are done fast AF. That's one of those that won't move unless some insane new tech comes out.
people were runing gos and doing a 2-4 split instead of 3-3 for sac to be killed faster as consecrated team normal waited around a bit but the stopped because of xp bug
ide say gos or wish. both runs have put an insane amount of optimization into every strat they do. they’re also probably two of the hardest speedruns to do imo
The sub 9 RON is great, but when the new GOS record comes out, I’d give it to that run. Maybe I’m just a softie for the two bosses at once thing, but it’s a very technically impressive raid to get good times on.
