When I saw that advert on the back of my Ultimate Spiderman comic with the pictures of Spiderman fighting thugs on the ground I thought "Oh so there's levels on the ground this time!" as you couldn't go on the ground in the first game. Needless to say when my 8th birthday came it blew my mind and is still my favourite PS2 game ever

The first few days I didn’t even have a bed yet and my room was just a sleeping bag, a tiny tv and my Xbox all on the floor. then my aunt/godmother bought me Spider-Man 2 the day after moving. I can still remember so much from that time and playing the game. Now 20 years later I’m about to move from that house to my first owned house.
Also remember going to the movies to see it that Summer and my oldest sister was annoyed because she had to go watch it with me while some of her friends saw I Robot and my other sister and her friends saw something else. As much I did like I Robot when I finally saw it, I felt the two of us were the real winners that day

Personally, 2004 sm2 amazed me more since it was the first of its kind, just like 2018 kinda. SM2 2023 definitely got me the most HYPE though. But I feel you.

I have the case for 1 and only ever got to play 3 once want to build a time machine to go back to little kid me that just got the ps2 handed down to me from my dad and beat the crap out of my younger self before he has a chance to destroy spiderman, nfs most wanted and underground 1&2 + pro street, every single dragon ball budokai game, ace combat, armored core, soul caliber all of them hell even a couple of GameCube games like super mario sunshine and baten katos all got destroyed bc my little kid past self was too dumb to understand how precious those game actually were 😭
Unpopular opinion but I actually preferred the Spider-Man 3 PS2 game (the PS3 version sucked) a lot more.
It's probably due to nostalgia (which imo is why 2 is so popular) since 3 was the game I played the shit out of on my old PS2 but even though the web swinging is a lot less realistic I preferred how much easier it was to control and the combat and bosses are terrible in 2 while 3 has a very satisfying collection of bosses and really fun combat.
Yeah, I was especially pissed to play the PS3 version and find that mechanic was absent and the suit was essentially just a skin swap for a couple missions.
PS2 Black Suit felt like such an in depth depiction of the suit as it can take you over, gets harder to take off as you progress the story and the animations for combat are a lot more powerful looking.

That game started the mechanic of changing in & out of the black suit during gameplay. A feature that should’ve been on Spider-Man 2 PS5
