Madvillainy is wild
Faces -Mac Miller is great
Little Simz has a double whammy of awesome albums with Sometimes I Might Be Introvert and NO THANK YOU
Gonna get memed on but logic has Under Pressure and No Pressure as probably his best albums. The Incredivle True Story is also a fun listen
Basically any Tyler the creator album including and after Flower Boy (Igor and CMIYGL won Grammies for a reason)
Kid Cudis Man on the Moon trilogy is very solid
Denzel Curry’s Melt My Eyez See Your Future was one of the better rap albums of 2022
I recommend you check out “Wolf” by Tyler The Creator if you haven’t already. Not the same level as Flower Boy and after, but still an incredible album
You should check out the Freshmen Adjustment mixtapes. I think theyre completely unofficial but it's basically all the stuff (released and unreleased) Kanye worked on before and around the time of College Dropout. The music is amazing. It's Kanye in his first peak form. :)
you probably listened to all of these multiple times cuz they are like among the biggest mainstream albums but i just really love them
1. the eminem show - eminem
2. utopia - travis scott
3. heroes & villains - metro boomin
also some albums that i'm listening to a lot rn
1. DAMN. - kendrick lamar
2. the melodic blue - baby keem
3. LONG.LIVE.A$AP - A$AP Rocky
I mean, all time it's Illmatic, but for the last 5 years I rediscovered Slum Village's "Fantastic Vol 2" and that shit has been in rotation at least once a week since, and i can run it front to back.
Common - Be.
I listened to this for the first time in a while yesterday and loved every moment of it.... Well except for the kids talking rubbish at the end
Astroworld. It was the first rap album I ever really listened to, (like properly) because friends were hyping it up and I decided to check it out on the day of release. It did not disappoint me in any way. Still love it to this day
I love this album and have been confused for years as to why it's slept on, maybe even disliked. Great open to the album w Cole rapping like his life depends on it and after that it's a full album of Cole doing his thing.
No particular order, just off top of my head
1. Heroes and Villains, Metro
2. Unlocked, Denzel Curry
3. The forever story, JID
4. Tha carter 4, Wayne
5. Bucket List Project, Saba
Honestly Ice Cube from 88-92/3/6 is essential and a run you need to experience in order.
88 - straight outta Compton
88 - eazy duz it (writer)
90 - amerikkka's most wanted
90 - kill at will
91 - death certificate
92 - the predator
92 - guerrillas in tha mist (producer and performer)
93 - leathal injection
96 - bow down
Personally its 88-92 for me the run from straight through guerrillas in the most is INSANE
I'm going to throw one out there for nostalgia. In the the 90's I was listening to Wu-Tang, Pac, Biggie etc. my mom god bless her knew I was into rap but hated it, so she would get me Christian rap albums as well. For the most part they are every bit as bad as you can imagine, there were a few that were okay maybe but it was mostly a lot of shit. However Factors Of The Seven by Grits is not just good for being Christian rap, but genuinely just a fucking great album. I still throw it on to reminisce or drive around to. Good flow, grimey jazzy beats. Good shit.
I would recommend some unreleased Eminem and Kanye stuff if you’re in to that. If you still don’t like, listen to other rappers unreleased stuff
There is an entire album for unreleased shady team stuff, Straight Out The Lab 1 & 2
Juvenile - Reality Check. It’s a very visceral time capsule into music during the time of Hurricane Katrina by someone who felt the fallout directly, and Juve really has some bangers, and some poignant commentary in between the jams.
Honestly, “Revenge Of The Dreamers III” by Dreamville
The first rap album that made me be invested in the listening from start to finish, still a favorite to this day
1st off please, please, please, listen to Mr. Morale it's so beautiful and might be one of the most profound albums I've listened to.
With that being said my top 3 right now would be
1. Lupe Fiasco Tetsuo and Youth (you can listen to this forward and backward similar to DAMN)
2. JPEGMAFIA STOP SCARING THE HOES
3. Outkast Stankonia
Sticky Fingaz - Black Trash: The Autobiography of Kirk Jones
Sticky is criminally underrated in terms of lyrical ability, and this is his Magnum Opus. The album tells a story from beginning to end, including a 'trial' song that features Rah Digga, Canibus, and Redman.
Eminem is on the album on What if I was White. There's some bangers w My Dogs is my Guns, Lickin off in Hip Hop and Get It Up. Money Talks and Cheating are great. Ghetto is a classic (to me), and the album closes with a version of Wonderful World that should get more attention.
There is a lot I could recommend, any Injury Reserve album, Haram by Armand Hammer and The Alchemist, Little Dominiques Nosebleed by The Koreatown Oddity, anything from Death Grips, I Told Bessie and Shit Dont Rhyme No More by ELUCID, anythyng by JPEGMAFIA, XXX and Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown. I could go on and on
My favourite album currently is Days B4 III by Lucki. I don’t know if you’ll like it based on your favs, but Lucki is real good at what he does, and has been rapping for a while.
If you want to tap into some uk grime go for Skepta- Greatest Hits/ Ignorance is Bliss are amazing. Most of his project are really good.
Anything MF DOOM, Outkast, Nas, Pac, Big L, Big Pun, Gang Starr, Biggie, Camp Lo, A Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def/Black Star, Jay-Z, Freddie Gibbs, The Roots, Wu-Tang Clan/The members' solo projects, Mobb Deep, Joey Bada$$, J Dilla or Common. Reply if you want specific albums.
I'll say one/2 per artist
Future - we still don't trust you/the wizrd
Lil Wayne - C5 /funeral
Eminem - MTBMB side b/MMLP
Drake - views/thank me later
Kendrick - section 80/ GKMC
Nas - kd2/magic 3
Logic - under pressure/ vinyl days
T.I. - paper trail/king
Kanye - graduation/college dropout
Mobb deep - the infamous/hell on earth
Any Flatbush Zombies album, but especially 3001

The new 1999 write the future album, hella
Ice Cube is literally my favorite rapper all time. Try his albums “Raw Footage” or “Laugh Now Cry Later.” I think he’s arguably one of the best ever, though people think I’m crazy when I say that.
Rap Albums I felt had a majority of good songs:
50 Cent: Get Rich Or Die Trying
Rich Homie Quan: I Promise I Will Never Stop Going In
Kevin Gates: Isiah
Tyla Yaweh: Heart Full of Rage
Polo G: Die A Legend
Juice Wrld: Goodbye and Good Riddance
Sleepy Hallow: Don't Sleep
Migos: No Label 2
Hollywood Undead: Swan Songs
Lil Skies: Life of A Dark Rose
Cardi B: Invasion of Privacy
Big Sean: Dark Sky Paradise
I released an Independent Hip Hop Album called "NIGHT BALLOONS" a few months back. I would really appreciate some honest opinions. Any feedback would be dope.

donda was rlly important for me at my lowest and it just feels like more than an album. i feel like the bloat is definitely exaggerated as theres only one or two skips for me on such a massive project. love the donda aesthetic, the rollout, how beautiful pure souls, hurricane, and 24 are and how personal donda, jesus lord and come to life are. fucking love it.
Sour soul by badbadnotgood and ghostface killah, it’s not ghostface’s best work but the instrumentals are legendary and the features are stacked with waaaaay underrated rappers as well, it’s definitely my favorite front to back album of all time
Huge hip hop head over here. I think my favorite album of all time is probably Reasonable Doubt by Jay-Z who is arguably my favorite rapper of all time. I’m originally from LA so that’s saying a lot too haha
Goodkidmadcity absolutely demolished me into the spiritual realm on the way to work today. Been on super grind mode and sort of coming back to Jesus in my own way and hearing that album start to finish was hitting deep. I guess it depends on the mood/state/place in life. When i was traveling in 2021 post covid and in airport lay overs, tyler the creator “call me if you get lost” was the perfect soundtrack for the vibe. Madvillian albums are sik af cuz he is really doing his own thing and its just weird and fun and keeps the rhyme game fresh, and obviously dre albums (original or produced/collabs)
Im looking forward to picking up a few new records from the comments section. Party on \m/
