I mean the Tysons are what made this possible. We've needed boosters to step up like this for years. I'm glad it's finally happening.

Sounds like the Tysons stepped in and are funding this hire. If they ain't gonna pay their share of taxes, this is the least they could do for this state.

WhuddaWhat

I'm sorry, but a basketball coach is not educating or feeding the kids of Arkansas. I'd rather have the fucking taxes tbh.

turf1218

I don't know about y'all, but I've never bought a ticket to a spelling bee.

WhuddaWhat

Course not. The profits are in the sellin'

CyberNinjaGinga

Left lane Chiaroscurist down

fancycheesus

Obviously. That was the undertone of my post. They won't pay for that stuff but they will happily get out the checkbook for basketball

arkutk

But how much of the taxes would just go in the politicians pockets??

Hog_Fan

Amen

I also agree that food is not required for life

TheWalkingTez

I’m so glad that HY made the skeptics look dumb for all the complaining they’ve done this week. They wanted to fire this man when they had very little info about what was happening behind the curtain. As a whole Arkansas athletics is healthier and stronger than it’s been in quite some time.

Hog_Fan

Man has a marketing background and consistent strong performances in the Director’s cup. People act like he’s a third-generation crawfish farmer.

hohohoagy

UK fan here. On one hand Cal is a hell of a recruiter, maybe the best, so I get the hype around that but on the other hand, he’s a pretty mediocre coach and UK has won 1 game the last 4 years in the NCAA and SEC tournaments combined. He was a great ambassador for the school and been squeaky clean with NCAA during his tenure. I hope he does well for y’all, but will need to embrace the transfer portal and try to keep some players around for more than 1 year. The one-and-done’s simply aren’t getting it done. Mcdrogon

buddy, you have no idea what it’s been like for the Hogs. This hire is a win/win for both schools. The real difference now, moving forward, is the investment into NIL. Game changer.

hohohoagy

Good point about NIL. I do suspect he’ll come in with renewed energy and get y’all toward the time fairly quick, if not right away since some of his recruits will likely follow him there. Good luck!

Kennethfiedler22

The problem is you’re looking at this like a Kentucky fan. Arkansas is a tier 2 job. Very good, but we’re not Kentucky. This is a slam dunk and once in a lifetime hire for us. The last 4 years have been very bad I agree but they would still be the second best 4 year stretch we’ve had since Nolan left

RunFarEatPizza

2 straight years in the elite 8?? Bad? This year was brutal. But 2 straight Elite 8s is phenomenal

Kennethfiedler22

Last 4 years of Caliparis tenure at Kentucky

RunFarEatPizza

Okay that makes more sense. Yes they’ve been very underwhelming. Thanks for clarifying.

Kennethfiedler22

You bet. Yeah I was born in 96 so the last 4 years at Arkansas have been the best I’ve ever experienced. I was pretty bummed when Muss left.

RunFarEatPizza

I was too. I feel like he had great vibes. Tons of energy. Good recruiter. I’m a 92 birthday. So don’t remember the glory days. But Muss was great.

finditplz1

Haven’t you had 2 elite 8s in the last 4 years? How is that bad?

Kennethfiedler22

Talking about caliparis last 4 years

Dad_fire_outdoors

I agree with how everyone is saying the Tysons are responsible for this hire, but Hunter Yurachek made the hire. The Tysons aren’t going to have to answer to anyone is this hire fails. Reality is that nearly every coach ends their career on the downfall. UofA could be Calipari’s last act. Not saying it is, but if it is nobody is going to say that Yurachek shouldn’t be held responsible.

Who would you suggest that would have been a better hire? And I don't just mean like a random X's and O's coach, I mean a coach that we could have hired that would have reinvigorated the fan base like Cal has, and has the ability to take a completely bare cubbard and stock it full of top tier 5-star Talent...? I understand that Calipari has not had recent (deep tourny) success. But who out there that is available right now that would have been a better hire in your opinion?

TyH621

Wait you can’t actually say this is a BAD hire You’re not jealous are you?

MightyMoustache69

My only real concern is that as soon as they sniff any success, he gets the Hogs roped into another cheating scandal. This is just the trauma of being a life long Razorback talking.

paxcolt

What cheating? Everything is legal now. Players can be accessories to murder (allegedly), barely get punished, and the coach go on to the Final Four and be on the short list for the UK job.

Jdevers77

Yea, cheating now basically means you literally paid off a ref or bet against your own team. Everything else is fair game. At least with D1 sports, D2 and lower still get nailed when a coach buys a bottle of water for a dehydrated player stuck at an airport without his wallet.

Rocktown-OG22

I definitely would have been concerned about sanctions If This Were five or six years ago. But now in the world of name, image, and likeness, it's all fair game. This is the exact type of Coach you want to have in this era of college basketball.

MightyMoustache69

I want to believe

Rocktown-OG22

Lol, well then believe good sir! It doesnt cost a dime! WOOOOO DAMN PIG!
