Jack in 1950, he’s a crack addict, the whole game is about him joining the mob just to get more crack, and at the end of the guy he sees a hallucination of Micah, and fucking kills himself.
Imagine it's supposed to be an emotional scene, you see a middle-aged jack looking down at a rat running between two garbage cans, and it fades into a tiny Micah scurrying between them (while doing his Micah laugh)
And Jack just stares in horror
Your comment made me realize that someone born in 1890 probably witnessed the most drastic changes in the way civilization functions throughout their lifetime.
To be fair, Herbert Moon does make a deal with the devil and unleashes a cholera plague on the town of Armadillo….
Here is Strange Man’s explanation: https://youtu.be/8TECvBYLGgM?si=vXtMljGaRIORiLvy
Customer comes into the store, will you:
A: Make a blatantly racist remark
B: Brag about how you made bank during a local cholera outbreak by being granted immunity to cholera by making a deal with the actual devil (don’t tell them the last part)
C: Put up a picture of said devil
In the heart of the sprawling American frontier, Nigel—a man driven to the brink of madness—wandered the dusty trails and abandoned towns of the West. His sole mission: to find Gavin, his lost friend. What had begun as a quest fueled by friendship slowly turned into an obsession, and as the years dragged on, Nigel's humanity started to erode. At first, Nigel had been a familiar sight in the bustling towns. His frantic shouts of "Have you seen Gavin?" were met with pitying looks and polite refusals. As time passed, his eyes grew hollow, his skin paler, and his clothes more tattered. Yet, he persisted, trudging through the wilderness, never stopping to rest or eat for long. The need to find Gavin gnawed at his soul, consuming him.The townsfolk whispered about him, calling him "the Lost Hunter." Children were warned not to stray too far into the woods, lest they encounter the desperate man who roamed there. Nigel's appearance began to change subtly but unmistakably. His limbs elongated, and his movements became more erratic and unnatural. His voice, once filled with frantic urgency, grew guttural and low, echoing through the trees like the wind's mournful wail. One moonless night, a group of travelers camped near the edge of Tall Trees, sharing ghost stories by the fire. As the flames flickered, one of them spoke of the Lost Hunter, a figure said to stalk the woods in search of his missing friend. They laughed nervously, brushing off the tale as a local legend meant to scare newcomers. But as the night deepened, they heard rustling in the underbrush. A figure emerged from the darkness, eyes glowing with an unnatural light. It was Nigel—or what was left of him. His once-human form had contorted into something monstrous. His skin was mottled and grey, stretched tightly over protruding bones. His fingers, now elongated claws, twitched with a restless energy."Have you seen Gavin?" he rasped, voice barely human. The travelers froze, fear rooting them to the spot. The creature moved closer, its eyes darting with an insane desperation. "I must find Gavin," it growled, its breath fetid and warm against their faces. One of the braver travelers managed to stammer out, "We haven't seen him, sir."Nigel let out a blood-curdling scream, a sound filled with years of unfulfilled longing and frustration. "You're lying!" he shrieked, his claws slashing through the air inches from the traveler's face. "You must have seen him! Tell me where he is!"The travelers backed away slowly, their hands trembling as they tried to placate the creature. "We swear, we haven't seen him," another whispered, tears streaming down their face.Nigel's eyes blazed with fury and madness. "Lies! All lies!" he roared, lunging at them with a ferocity that sent them scattering into the night. He clawed at the ground where they had stood, his screams echoing through the trees like the cries of a wounded animal. For a moment, Nigel stood there, chest heaving, his wild eyes scanning the darkness. Then, with a final, anguished howl, he fled into the woods, his twisted form vanishing into the shadows. From that night on, tales of the Lost Hunter spread far and wide. He became a specter of the wilderness, a cautionary tale of what obsession could do to a man. Sightings were rare, but those who encountered him never forgot the haunting question that lingered in their minds long after:"Have you seen Gavin?"
Tbh any story that has to deal with what happened to Jack after RDR1. Due to the setting having to be at some point after 1914, the game would be a Western in name only.
>after 1914, the game would be a Western in name only.
Modern westerns are a thing. I keep thinking that it might be fun to have a Red Dead game close to present day. Think No Country for Old Men in video game form.
I would definitely be down for a modern western game, but not for Red Dead. I'd love a new franchise though that takes notes from things like No Country, Hell or High Water, Justified, Outer Range, etc.
If there was a post RDR1 Jack game, I could easily see it have a hybrid game style.
Start with Jack as a bootlegger in the rural midwest (so he still rides horses), before gaining the attention of high level gangsters and ends up in a Chicago style city.
While it's something that I want as a game, saying it shouldn't be a Red Dead game is fair.
As for the cutoff year, if cars became the primary transportation then it would feel more like a GTA game. That said, there is a car in RDR1, and they appear in late westerns like The Shootist and The Wild Bunch, so I think there is room for limited use of them in Red Dead games.
I have been thinking the cut-off for the 'late western' genre is the start of WWI (1914) so we're not too apart in thinking.

Red Dead is not about the Wild West, it's about the *death* of the West. RDR1 was set in 1911/1914, it was already long dead by then, only kept alive in spirit by those who tried their hardest to resist the changing times, and even then it was only a matter of when and not if. A final sendoff to the series that follows the de facto death of the American Frontier sounds like a good idea to me, especially if it stars Jack as the protagonist. No WWI story though, after seeing what the government did to his family he'd probably deliver the Zimmerman telegram himself. >!/j!<
Yeah I think the 3rd ought to be the final and would be the true end of western outlaws faced with the choice of continuing the true outlaw life through urban organized crime or go play outlaw dress up by squabbling amongst each other and trespassing on newly established National Park land.
I kind of see the public enemies era as the continuation of the western outlaws. Bank robberies, wanton killings, gang activity, a lot of similarities. The creation of the fbi to take these guys down. A lot of interesting characters and events taking place up until the end of the 30s
It's about Jack's grandson, a dentist who goes to Sturgis once a year for outlaw biker cosplay. The game takes place over a week where spends most of it drunk/hungover and trying to convince his wife to join the swinger lifestyle.
You are right about the series being about the death of the west but I think due to it being fully dead by the end of RDR1 I do not think it’s necessary to extend to story beyond that.
That theming is why I love the games; they just have so many elements that reinforce it that it tickles the literary/film analysis part of my brain. From the fact the first scenes of RDR have you transferring from a train to a car then meeting an old timey Sheriff trying to learn to use a phone, to the second game having you face off some lost holdouts of the antebellum south and ultimately having a main antagonist being a corporation, it’s all great
Jack’s children establish another farm and the grandchildren turn it into the dude ranch. Game is about surviving in customer service without shooting someone
I don’t want any RDR sequel playing as Jack. I don’t want ANY of the previous characters we’ve seen in the sequel unless it’s just a cameo. We need all new characters
Idk man. I like the idea of Jack retiring after the epilogue of RDR1, but realistically the vicious cycle would probably continue.
I think a game playing as Jack in the early 1920s would be pretty lit. Jack, now a WWI vet, comes home amidst the ramp up to prohibition. As alcohol is banned and life on the farm is hard, he falls in with an up-and-coming gang of bootleggers who smuggle alcohol across the border and up to Blackwater and St Denis. There they come into conflict with the next generation of Mafioso running organized crime in the city. It's the biggest market in the South, so maybe they have to tentatively get along, but the Italians still disrespect the country folk, and maybe Jack vaguely remembers the face of their new leader who was a prominent member of Bronte's crew while he was their prisoner.
The countryside and closer to the border would very much still be living like the 19th century in 1920/21 but St Denis and to a lesser extent Blackwater would clearly be the beacons of the rapidly emerging 20th century lifestyle, with electric lights, cars on every street, and the shadiest gun dealer in town offering access to a crate of surplus Tommy Guns that got stolen after the war.
Having a set piece mission in which you as Jack, on horseback, are chasing down (or running from) a car load of mobster's with Tommy guns would be incredible.
Jack in WWI. Half the game is him going through training, and much of the other half is the voyage to Europe on a ship. Once he actually reaches the frontlines, he is instantly blown up by enemy artillery. Or alternatively, his ship is torpedoed in the Atlantic and he drowns cause John never taught him to swim.
Imagine if done right though… The start is a massive Bank Robbery in Atlanta that goes wrong, Jack enlists at the start of the war to get away thinking the war will be over in a couple of months… massive open world battles in Europe. Comes home, collects the money and starts a new gang
I’ve always said this as well. Maybe he gets in with the scouts cause he can ride horses and then the shit tips off from there. Comes home penniless and war torn, only to join a bootlegger outfit somewhere in the hills and fight the early FBI
Man I remember an old Medal of Honor (I think?) game that essentially did the “dying instantly” thing for the first mission, was depressing. You played as like 5 different dudes who all just died uneventfully
Battlefield One’s first mission has you playing as a bunch of different soldiers. Each time you die their date of birth and date of death show up on screen. WWI really was a pointless meat grinder.
It's 1977, you play as an old and frail man, it's Jack.
You enter a cinema and take your seat, getting locked into a 2 hour and 1 minute unskippable cutscene, it's "Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope"
The cutscene ends and Jack leaves the cinema, whereupon he is immediately mugged by a 10 year old Trevor Phillips and left for dead.
lol OP asked for “worst” sequel. It’s definitely the “George Lucas hates his ex wife” special edition cut.
There’s a [“despecialized” version](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmy%27s_Despecialized_Edition) you can download for free btw. Takes forever, but worth it to see the originals again.
Even more insane is that this is what people will say about us in 100 years.
“He was born in 1999 playing his PS2 and then saw the first robot revolution in 2077. That’s insane!”
After playing The Lost and the Dammed? That sounds kinda cool, to be honest.
After playing GTA V? Oh dear God, no.
Things feel a wee bit futile when you know there's a Trevor Phillips on the horizon.
Tbh The Lost in GTA V was very different in terms of gang behavior. The Lost Trevor destroyed felt like another group of people than what I saw in TLAD.
Okay, that's actually a pretty neat concept. Not a good RDR game, but a cool concept. As for it sounding "futile", I don't know what word you would use to describe RDR2 if not for futile.
It Takes place in modern day equivalent of Miami, you play as a woman who was just released from prison. You do bank heists with your boyfriend and all around you there are people live streaming their vehicle stunts and you see gators and other “Florida-Man” craziness.
You also will be released someday… eventually.
Game name is Red Dead Redemption Revolver Online Grand Theft Auto 2 3 4 5 6 San Andreas Vice City 3: Lumbago Edition
You play as the resurrected Uncle, free from his terminal lumbago, he goes on a mission to find a time machine in order to bring everyone back (including Micah for \*useful\* purposes). After that, you travel across time meeting characters from Niko & Roman to Trevor. The game ends with Uncle being summoned by Doctor Strange, fighting in the final battle of Avengers: Endgame. Thanos brings back Uncle's lumbago before ultimately saving the multiverse via using the Infinity Stones. The epilogue is about the gang trying to find a cure to lumbago whilst using Micah as a makeshift animal testing rat.
You play as Dutch's father during the civil war.
Start the game as a wife-beating, drunken asshole who treats his son like shit.
Then it's a war game...till you die in some shitty field.
Epilogue - young Dutch struggling to survive and not starve, get disease, get murdered or get raped on the street. After running away and before meeting Hosea.
Take the grim reality to the max for this game.
I bet Dutch's actual childhood was a lot like Saul Goodman's. A boring, kind, naive father constantly getting taken advantage of by conmen and grifters, working a boring, bureaucratic job and providing for an ungrateful family. When Dutch said "Only the feeblest of men take jobs in the Goverment", I picture that being about the loving father he believed was weak and gullible.
Of course adult Dutch is going to pretend that he came from abuse and poverty for the sake of his image, but he comes across as way too much of a sophist dandy for it to be truly believable.
arthur simply faked his death after the fight with micah and has been in hiding since to evade the law and former gang members. Time skipped to johns death, arthur gets back in the game to avenge him.
You play as an old rugged arthur turned revolutionary, on a quest for vengance. You plan on overthrowing the goverment to disband the pinkertons once and for all. The story follows him as he recruits new people for the cause and watch as arthur slowly turns into his former mentor, dutch, losing his sanity along the way.
The final mission has you and your gang stage a coupe d'etat and has arthur becomes the new undemocratically appointed leader and depending on honor you either run a dystopian hellscape or make the country prosper. Either way, youre assasinated in the end by a newly appointed cia agent called JACK MARSTON......!
Red Dead Redemption 3: I Gots A Fatal Condition
You play as Uncle in the 8 years before he met John in the epilogue. Uncle doesn't have deadeye, his stamina is terrible, and his health is even worse. You can only kill people by roasting them
Landon Ricketts between the first two games, meaning he'll just be sitting around drinking himself to oblivion, shooting bottles occasionally, and being a mildly intimidating elderly man with a bit of respect to his name.
And I have the perfect epilogue too.
Retirement. Like total retirement, you just can't use your guns anymore and the rest of the game from that point on is just a ranching simulator or whatever, Beecher's Hope +. Maybe you see a slightly older Jack and you teach him level 3 deadeye before the game randomly ends when you go to bed one day. (Landon died in his sleep in 1914)
There quite a few that came out over the past couple of years. One of the more interesting ones is an RTS called The Last Train Home that is set slightly after WWI in civil war Russia where you take command of Czechoslovak legion trying to evacuate from the country where they've become enemies almost over night and the whole story is great
You play as Micah after the events of RDR2 but it’s just a quick-time mini game where you have sex with Dutch and dead animals up in that cabin they lived in.
ALSO it’s not even a good mini game, it’s like God of war where the table just shakes, no fun Baldurs gate level nudity, no horse balls physics just grunting and a candle on a table shaking.
You play as jack marston in the 1930s who remarkably has a photographic memory of the first two games - including stuff he wasn’t there for. The marston family ranch burnt down in a fire like a decade before the events of the game, and jack has spent the last 10 years hunting down the arsonist - becoming homeless and a mirror image of Uncle in the process. The story is frequently interrupted by drunken stupors that end in dreams of inaccurate recollections of the events of red dead 1 and 2 that all have the same ill fitting “revenge is bad” message.
Twist ending is that there was no arsonist, and jack made it all up in his head the whole time. He kills himself at the end of the game, and there’s a post credit scene of a geriatric Dutch who had faked his death the whole time and was actually the arsonist all along. Roll credits.
Takes place in 1930, Jack is 35, adjusting to a new world still. Trying to make money as a lowley cab driver and now going by the pseudonym "Tommy D'Angelo" to distance himself from his past while remembering the good times he had staying with Angelo Bronte in St Denis. On a routine nightshift, his cab is employed by two members of the Chicago Mafia (Called Lost Heaven in-game for reasons). Jack joins the Mafia, wins a bullshit sports car race, falls in love with the barmaid at the Bar the mafia uses as a HQ, has a family, begins working as an informant in order to create a better life for his family, years later, Jack is an old man watering his garden when he gets blasted by two thugs with a shotgun to the chest.
You're Jack and you're writing your book about your childhood. That's it. That's the game. This is based on the Easter Egg book title in GTA V.
Quest lines include:
* Have a fight that leads to you breaking up with your girlfriend. She just doesn't understand where you're coming from, what your life was like.
* Go to a park to think things over; Get inspiration to write a book about your childhood.
* Talk to a bookstore owner about how someone writes books.
* Learn to use a typewriter.
* Buy a typewriter.
* Write a jumbled mess of a story.
* Meet with a publisher, get rejected.
* Learn how to write better.
* Write a treatment.
* Get an agent.
* Meet with another publisher, get a retainer based on your treatment.
* Submit first draft.
* Do a rewrite based on tips from your agent.
* Submit second draft.
* Get greenlit for publishing.
* Do public appearances to promote your book.
* Get approached by your former girlfriend who wants to get back together.
* Accept or Reject her; Either way you lose money.
* Get swindled by your agent.
* File a lawsuit against the agent.
* Go to court; mistrial.
* Handle the agent like your father would have. Get your money back, possibly at the cost of the agent's life.
* Go into hiding just in case.
RDR 3..
You play as the fur trader who can't get any business because the Industrial Revolution brought about modern textile production at the turn of the century, and the whole world turned to cotton manufacturing for all clothing.
You die penniless in the swamp in Lemoyne.
The worst possible version of RDR3 would be setting it 100 years in the future (2011), basing it in Texas, and having the protagonist be some fat gun toting air conditioning addicted "cowboy". You'd start the game with a ten gallon hat, 25 small arms, and a tricked out monster truck that needs gasoline every 10 minutes.
It would be a GTA ripoff with stupider characters and the big bad of the entire story would be Latin American refugee seekers who you and your pals need to exterminate before they reach a sanctuary city.
You would power up and progress through the game by eating as much fast food as possible and hunting animals who are restrained a la King Viserys in HoTD.
Side missions would include killing abortion seekers, attending Cowboys games, and attacking National Guard stations whenever your governor commanded it.
The most difficult mission involves surviving a cold snap when the state's power grid goes down because the tempurature hit 40 degrees.
My girlfriend and I had the idea of a truly *Western* Western RDR game where you play as both Dutch and Hosea and possibly a third (Sheriff in tumbleweed? Similar?) and it is centered mostly around Hosea and the early organization of the gang. I think it’d be cool to continue that delve back in time and would also allow for some more creativity as it would hopefully be a completely new map with cities in Nevada, California, etc. with Reno or San Fran as our main city. I’d also like to see an Alaskan RDR game, but that’s another tale…
You play as Jimmy Brooks. After surviving your close shave with Arthur, you go through the same world gaining or losing hope (instead of honor), essentially dependent on the state of our culture, and whether it's enough to temper man's inclination to evil. If you lose hope, you become a nihilist or revolutionary. If you gain enough hope, you are present at the end to save Arthur and/or others.
The year is 1875, we play as an outlaw with one rule: live free. The main story revolves around getting revenge on an outlaw who robbed us as a kid that was hired by a wealthy banker. During the story we meet a young man named Dutch, who we can try to steer the right path or manipulate to do bad things for us. At the end of the story we have tracked down the outlaw, we draw, and we get shot before killing them. Dutch watches us die on a mountain, and promises to keep our dream alive.
The outlaw’s name is Jack, and becomes the namesake for John’s child.
3678. Arthur Morgan is a cyborg dinosaur, and John Marston is a tomato. You play as Ava from Borderlands 3, who is the daughter of Jack Marston, who died in 1671. Ava must find her way through volcanos and gay cowboys in order to find out her family roots. Ava later teams up with Micah bell and they become best friends and later on they both part ways. Micah committed suicide of his sexual frustration, and ava went on to identify as a Sombrero and was eaten alive by the North sentinelese tribe. After the main story you now play as Caillou. That bald spoiled bitch kid from the cartoon.... caillou. That's the new plot of RDR3.
worst? just put jack in ww1 and have BF1
best? put jack in mexico which was as wild as the peak of the "wild west" and make him a lowlife that just tries to survive after murdering a federal agent and a dodge draft
Maybe we could have Red Dead Revolution in Mexico and play as Jack during the Mexican revolution fighting as a cowboy revolutionary. Jack works for different factions (like fallout new Vegas or the movie Casablanca). At the end, he can either choose to work for the U.S. aligned forces and receive a pardon for his killing of Ross or can choose to seek a new life in Tahiti.
Its about Gavin being kidnapped and fighting all across south america taking out cartels trying to return to his friend. But in the end he gets shot and dies before his friend while "may i, stand unshaken plsys"
A vapid teenager in present day America finds Jacks journal and is took over by the ghost of Arthur, eventually contracting actual tuberculosis.
He doesn't learn anything, and the plot is riddled with holes.
Certain people on this sub have already pitched two versions of the worst possible rdr3: Jack in WWI, and then a story about the Callenders that ends with the Blackwater Massacre.
Play as a younger chief Rains Fall. Your only missions are translating for tribe & military/government. You negotiate the best you can and at the end of each mission the military fucks you over anyway. There is no course of revenge, each mission you just keep letting it happen
Red Dead Hot Coffee. You have to play as Abigail Robert's before the events of rdr2 and the entire game is finding clients and playing a rhythm match minigame to satisfy them then getting paid. The epilogue is the mini game with John then you have to play as Jack as a sperm and avoid the immune system cells and acidic secretions, then button mash to enter Abigails Egg. The end.
Jack in 1950, he’s a crack addict, the whole game is about him joining the mob just to get more crack, and at the end of the guy he sees a hallucination of Micah, and fucking kills himself.
So Mafia 4
LOL
Wait there's a mafia 4?
no
Oh, ok
No, the above game would be basically if Take Two (Rockstar's Parent) made a Mafia sequel
They already did the 50s in Mafia II. Mafia III was in the 60s so the next logical step for Mafia IV would be the 70s (preferably set in Vegas!).
There was concept work of Vegas for Mafia 4 hopefully they stick with it
Yea vito and joe do a reunion and take over the city
You forgot to add the crack can't forget the crack
Why Micah? I doubt he even remembers Micah’s name or the face
He sees a rat running and his brain thinks it’s micah instead
Imagine it's supposed to be an emotional scene, you see a middle-aged jack looking down at a rat running between two garbage cans, and it fades into a tiny Micah scurrying between them (while doing his Micah laugh) And Jack just stares in horror
lol
And somehow, even in a video game, the rat's a bad special effect
Well the question was to make the worst
Never forgave him for killing cain
You don't forget a face like that one
Crack was a 80s/90s thing. It would probably be morphine for the time period
omg thank you
It would likely be amphetamines because those were the big thing in the 50s
And the good ending is were he grows old and watches Star Wars in the theatre
That’s the dlc
Your comment made me realize that someone born in 1890 probably witnessed the most drastic changes in the way civilization functions throughout their lifetime.
1890 was the most change. 1905 or so would be the worst time to be born.
Yeah, he’s young enough to possibly be alive during GTA vice city
I'd play vice city again just to search if there is any older npc called Jack. That'd be hilarious
Ah yes, he “kill is himself”
Yeah like genuinely that was auto correct, I couldn’t be bothered fixing it. Fixed now
DW man I was just joking lol, auto correct sucks sometimes
Real. I swear to god anytime I type literally out it’s changed to Litreally.
1950? He’d be like 60 yrs old.. that is a horrible sequel well done
Don’t underestimate his need for crack
Crack is vital
It would make more sense if he saw Edgar Ross in his hallucinations because Ross killed John
Wasn’t the question, the worst sequel? Adding sense to it would ruin how bad it is.
Probably would be better as a heroine addict. Crack was created by the government until the 1980s.
Crack wasn’t out make it heroin and we got a deal
You play as the girl who dies at the black water massacre and then you play as her daughter who dies in red dead 1s black water mission with Dutch
Omg this sounds so shit
This just sounds like a depressing sim game to be honest
most normal sims save\*
I’d pay for Rockstar to cancel this shit.
Black Water + Dutch = -girl
(Dutch + girl) / Water = -Black
European incels traveling over water invented slavery, a negative development for Black folks. It checks out
Seems like Dutch being in Blackwater really is bad for women’s life expectancies there.
😂
this sounds like a really bad fanfic
Blue Alive Damnation -2
this sounds like a really bad fanfic
Play as the protagonist Herbet Moon, hours and hours of gameplay where you own a general store.
No that sounds lit
Yeah, but you're Herbert Moon.
I’M HERBERT MOOOOOOOONNN
I'VE BEEN ROBBED!
Happy cake day
To be fair, Herbert Moon does make a deal with the devil and unleashes a cholera plague on the town of Armadillo…. Here is Strange Man’s explanation: https://youtu.be/8TECvBYLGgM?si=vXtMljGaRIORiLvy
Goated chanel btw
So....Racism simulator?
Customer comes into the store, will you: A: Make a blatantly racist remark B: Brag about how you made bank during a local cholera outbreak by being granted immunity to cholera by making a deal with the actual devil (don’t tell them the last part) C: Put up a picture of said devil
D: All of the above
That actually sounds playable
Lowkey an 1800’s general store simulator sounds awesome
With minor themes in summoning demons, you know. The usual
Red dead redemption: undead general store nightmare
I think there’s a lot more to Herbert Moon than you realise…watch a few YouTube videos about him
Papers Please but with added racism
Sounds like a cosy game spin off made for mobile and the switch
Play as Nigel, just go around looking for Gavin until you lose your mind
Play as Gavin in hide n seek style game where you just go hiding from Nigel for years just to troll him.
That could actually be kinda fun
Make it a two player game and you got hide and seek in Red Dead
Red Dead by Daylight.
Being chased around caliga hall by Catherine Braithwaite's burnt corpse would actually be scary as hell tho
"I must find Gavin," it growled, its breath fetid and warm against their faces. One of the braver travelers managed to stammer out, "We haven't seen him, sir."Nigel let out a blood-curdling scream, a sound filled with years of unfulfilled longing and frustration.
This sequel would be insane
Tbh any story that has to deal with what happened to Jack after RDR1. Due to the setting having to be at some point after 1914, the game would be a Western in name only.
>after 1914, the game would be a Western in name only. Modern westerns are a thing. I keep thinking that it might be fun to have a Red Dead game close to present day. Think No Country for Old Men in video game form.
I would definitely be down for a modern western game, but not for Red Dead. I'd love a new franchise though that takes notes from things like No Country, Hell or High Water, Justified, Outer Range, etc.
Hell or High Water is so good
If there was a post RDR1 Jack game, I could easily see it have a hybrid game style. Start with Jack as a bootlegger in the rural midwest (so he still rides horses), before gaining the attention of high level gangsters and ends up in a Chicago style city.
So GTA with a horse
So Red Dead
:o
Start in France, 1918.
Start in Russia, 1917.

From the fact the first scenes of RDR have you transferring from a train to a car then meeting an old timey Sheriff trying to learn to use a phone, to the second game having you face off some lost holdouts of the antebellum south and ultimately having a main antagonist being a corporation, it’s all great
Go to Australia
They hadn’t even discovered fire yet would be Jurassic game
Jack accidently goes too far inland and fucking dies
Death to giant lizard or Komodo dragon
Nah Fistfight to the death with a kangaroo
Or alternatively, his ship is torpedoed in the Atlantic and he drowns cause John never taught him to swim.
i would unironically enjoy this tbh
Imagine if done right though… The start is a massive Bank Robbery in Atlanta that goes wrong, Jack enlists at the start of the war to get away thinking the war will be over in a couple of months… massive open world battles in Europe. Comes home, collects the money and starts a new gang
I’ve always said this as well. Maybe he gets in with the scouts cause he can ride horses and then the shit tips off from there. Comes home penniless and war torn, only to join a bootlegger outfit somewhere in the hills and fight the early FBI
But then my theory about Jack being able to have the McRib wouldn’t be possible
Even better, Jack is in WW1, but he’s stuck at a Fort in Alabama doing Logistics work
all the minigames are refilling ink pens and lanterns
What if the war ends when he is going to europe and they go back to america
Man I remember an old Medal of Honor (I think?) game that essentially did the “dying instantly” thing for the first mission, was depressing. You played as like 5 different dudes who all just died uneventfully
Battlefield One’s first mission has you playing as a bunch of different soldiers. Each time you die their date of birth and date of death show up on screen. WWI really was a pointless meat grinder.
It's 1977, you play as an old and frail man, it's Jack. You enter a cinema and take your seat, getting locked into a 2 hour and 1 minute unskippable cutscene, it's "Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope" The cutscene ends and Jack leaves the cinema, whereupon he is immediately mugged by a 10 year old Trevor Phillips and left for dead.
Peak
It would sell just for being the only way to own the original theatrical release
lol OP asked for “worst” sequel. It’s definitely the “George Lucas hates his ex wife” special edition cut. There’s a [“despecialized” version](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmy%27s_Despecialized_Edition) you can download for free btw. Takes forever, but worth it to see the originals again.
Wait what? How old would Jack be when A New Hope came out? Edit: 82, what the hell, why does time work so weird
Jack living to see Watergate is somehow wilder for me.
The fact that a character who was 4 in 1899 could've potentially watched Star Wars when it came out is just insane to me 😂
Even more insane is that this is what people will say about us in 100 years. “He was born in 1999 playing his PS2 and then saw the first robot revolution in 2077. That’s insane!”
Jacks son, returns from WW2, buys a motorcycle, moves to Paleto Bay and starts a biker club…The Lost
After playing The Lost and the Dammed? That sounds kinda cool, to be honest. After playing GTA V? Oh dear God, no. Things feel a wee bit futile when you know there's a Trevor Phillips on the horizon.
Trevor Phillips- the one man to end John Marston’s generational legacy
BUT LOOOOOVE IS A LONG LONG ROAD
The title of this game? “Red Dead Redemption 3: Ultimate Game of the Year Edition”
Idk man that sounds pretty sweet
It’s 1920. You play as Jack. His voice is even more squeaky.
And he’s a preacher
And you know the preacher likes the cold
Game name is Red Dead Redemption Revolver Online Grand Theft Auto 2 3 4 5 6 San Andreas Vice City 3: Lumbago Edition You play as the resurrected Uncle, free from his terminal lumbago, he goes on a mission to find a time machine in order to bring everyone back (including Micah for \*useful\* purposes).
Sounds like Fortnite season 693837737 to me.
would play this
You were supposed to make the worst sequel possible. Not peak
This was suppoed to be BAD ideas, hahaha
I bet Dutch's actual childhood was a lot like Saul Goodman's. A boring, kind, naive father constantly getting taken advantage of by conmen and grifters, working a boring, bureaucratic job and providing for an ungrateful family. When Dutch said "Only the feeblest of men take jobs in the Goverment", I picture that being about the loving father he believed was weak and gullible. Of course adult Dutch is going to pretend that he came from abuse and poverty for the sake of his image, but he comes across as way too much of a sophist dandy for it to be truly believable.
The main character is a middle-aged Jack. The story takes place in the Eastern United States during the Prohibition Era. Shoot the enemy mafia.
This is the one I was going to say. Seen this a few times and...no.
Everyone bringing up bootlegging makes me so pissed we haven’t had a open world game set in 1920s/30s Appalachia where you make booze and run it yet
you play as uncle and take damage anytime someone asks you to do something… lumbago simulator
Damn. I came here to say this. But you worded it way better than I could have.
RDR: Mickey dealing with the Veterans Administration trying to prove he was a vet so he can get a pension.
It's hard enough for actual vets to get benefits.
arthur simply faked his death after the fight with micah and has been in hiding since to evade the law and former gang members.
OP said a BAD idea, not this banger!
that low key sound fun as shit
Blue Alive Damnation looks lit.
Red Dead Redemption 3: I Gots A Fatal Condition You play as Uncle in the 8 years before he met John in the epilogue. Uncle doesn't have deadeye, his stamina is terrible, and his health is even worse. You can only kill people by roasting them
vicious mockery
You’re Micah’s pants.
Shit, bro
Set in a western themed restaurant in Sandy Shores
Landon Ricketts between the first two games, meaning he'll just be sitting around drinking himself to oblivion, shooting bottles occasionally, and being a mildly intimidating elderly man with a bit of respect to his name. And I have the perfect epilogue too. Retirement. Like total retirement, you just can't use your guns anymore and the rest of the game from that point on is just a ranching simulator or whatever, Beecher's Hope +. Maybe you see a slightly older Jack and you teach him level 3 deadeye before the game randomly ends when you go to bed one day. (Landon died in his sleep in 1914)
Red Dead Retirement?
Red Dead Renovation. It is 1915. War is raging. You are tasked with fixing up Beecher’s Hope and making it pretty. Press Y to hang drapes.
So it's a full-fledged version of the [house building mission?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5VJnxDLaZY) Sign me up.
You are Charles Châtenay and come back in 1921 after you failed with your Art and try to smuggle Alcohol in the early years of the Prohibition.
Whole Ass Redemption
Somehow, agent Ross has returned
Jack killed a clone
You play as Mac Callendar
okay but...that pic goes real hard like we're playing Sharon Stone's more badass sister from The Quick and the Dead
Jack goes to world war 1
Yeah I honestly would love WWI as a setting for a game. Just not this series.
ALSO it’s not even a good mini game, it’s like God of war where the table just shakes, no fun Baldurs gate level nudity, no horse balls physics just grunting and a candle on a table shaking.
this one actually sounds horrific thanks
You play as Jack in 1969 and he is an astronaut. You colonize the moon and it’s the Wild West all over again but with less gravity.
And the big bad is a Soviet-made cyborg: the Mobile Interstellar Campaign Autonomous Humanoid. It has a big blond mustache for no legitimate reason.
Online only and the story is those shitty cutscenes your silent custom character stands around for.
So basically the plot is what people unironically suggest on here :)
Quest lines include: * Have a fight that leads to you breaking up with your girlfriend. She just doesn't understand where you're coming from, what your life was like. * Go to a park to think things over; Get inspiration to write a book about your childhood. * Talk to a bookstore owner about how someone writes books. * Learn to use a typewriter. * Buy a typewriter. * Write a jumbled mess of a story. * Meet with a publisher, get rejected. * Learn how to write better. * Write a treatment. * Get an agent. * Meet with another publisher, get a retainer based on your treatment. * Submit first draft. * Do a rewrite based on tips from your agent. * Submit second draft. * Get greenlit for publishing. * Do public appearances to promote your book. * Get approached by your former girlfriend who wants to get back together. * Accept or Reject her; Either way you lose money. * Get swindled by your agent. * File a lawsuit against the agent. * Go to court; mistrial.
RDR3: The Rise of Uncle
Arthur didn’t actually die aliens abducted him and rdr3 is in space
U play as bill when he was in the military
You’re the drunk lunatic wearing the fur hat in Valentine but you never leave the bar and the gameplay is just you berating the bar patrons
You’re the guy who’s looking for Gavin but you never find him
Cooking Mama, but it’s Pearson
That bald spoiled bitch kid from the cartoon.... caillou. That's the new plot of RDR3.
worst? just put jack in ww1 and have BF1 best? put jack in mexico which was as wild as the peak of the "wild west" and make him a lowlife that just tries to survive after murdering a federal agent and a dodge draft
Content inspired by /r/sadieadler
Red Dead Hot Coffee. You have to play as Abigail Robert's before the events of rdr2 and the entire game is finding clients and playing a rhythm match minigame to satisfy them then getting paid. The epilogue is the mini game with John then you have to play as Jack as a sperm and avoid the immune system cells and acidic secretions, then button mash to enter Abigails Egg. The end.
