Sad but not unexpected. While I’m bullish on INEOS, the lack of basic investment in personnel, player contracts, and facilities in the women’s game is worrying. It’s orders of magnitude cheaper than the men’s side, with higher relative upside. That they are ignoring it is… worrying for me.
Of all those expiring I was probably least concerned about Earps. We have Tullis Joyce, plus Middleton Patel, so the position has depth. It's the wealth of forwards, Williams, Parris, Mallard (loan) plus the captain Zelem that concerned me more. Why on earth do you let the captain's contract run out without so much of a whisper of negotiations??
To be fair to Zelem, with all the hate she gets from some in the United fan base, I think it is good for her to go somewhere where the vocal fans appreciate her.
She doesn't get hate though? Skinner gets hate for playing her as a 6/DM which she plainly isn't. Even out of position she is the highest chance creator at the club and close to the top in the league!
Zelem gets plently of hate on social media and at games. She has been very important for us creating goals, especially from late corners and free kicks, but that doesn't fit the narrative of those that don't like her.
Personally have no issue with this, there has been too much drama and her form has been poor this season. Really looking forward to seeing what PTJ can do.
I think it's unfair to call her form poor, according to Opta Stats she was a good shot-stopper once again. Whether she can be a part of the build-up, do some sweeping and claim some crosses, that's a different issue lol but Earps has always been a good shot-stopper for us
It was poor for her standards compared to the season before and was inconsistent. She can make a great save, but there were lots more mistakes. Don't get me started on her passing.
Yeah, big blow from a PR perspective but she's not consistently hit the heights of her reputation this season. PTJ looked good in the games she had, so this isn't the biggest concern for me.
