Used to have a lot more fun with it but lately it's been hard to pull a crowd together to celebrate. Having lobster and oysters with my parents for it this year, which will be nice :)
Who are you celebrating with? Being with a group of friends and family from all ages really can make it special. Watching little kids run around with poppers and eating hot dogs by a pool with your friends is just fun. When the fire works start going off and seeing everyone, no matter their age, stop and watch is a good feeling. Especially when the fire works are popped over a body of water. Like all holidays, this one is what you make it.
To me its peak summer, grilling out and drinking beers and swimming. Putting on your finest old navy flag tee from 2003. Listening to US Blues by the grateful dead loud as fuck.
It’s probably my favorite holiday. I have a feeling nothing will beat the experience I had last year in Bozeman, Montana during the fireworks. I was laying on the grass and they were shooting right over your head, it was incredible. And the people in Bozeman are so damn nice.
100%, great holiday for acid and molly. Hometown does fireworks at the lake and I’ve got a buddy with a family place on the lake, usually do a get-together, barbecue, roll and watch the show from the roof. Hating the 4th of July is so fucking lame, summer evenings are already so perfect and romantic and the 4th is one of the best.
Its a nice friendly vibe to go watch our local fireworks with everyone at the community park in the gated burbs, but the excitement has definitely diminished since attending EDC a few times and getting to see a million+ dollar 15min fireworks show for 3 nights in a row while drunk/rolling/tripping surrounded by music
I get excited for any day in which I get paid $400 per day to not go to work. And I get the 4th and 5th off. I’m gonna spend it eating pastrami and sushi during the days and Jumbo’s Clown Room at night.
I love it. There’s a family get together every year at my cousin’s house. We spend most of the day swimming in the pool. Then we grill some burgers and hot dogs and eat together. Then we light up some fireworks with the rest of the neighbors. In between everything me and my cousins gossip and play video games together

I was gonna say the same. It’s like New Year’s Eve now which is full of trying to make plans and everyone either being out of town or just bailing.
Exactly, just don't set high expectations and enjoy it for what it is

Me too and it’s fucking stupid.
people buying red, white, and blue one-time-use plastic junk does not make me feel a sense of liberty

It’s an excuse to watch Jaws
Isn't that just the usual people-watching in NY?
