We had a nice landlord in our first apartment. I went to them to explain that my husband *might* go on strike so we might need to be a little late on rent, and the manager told me to let them know if that was going to happen and they'd work with us the best they could. We always paid on time and never caused issues. In our previous rental, the owner was as sweet as could be but the company they hired out to take care of rent payments and maintenance, one of the worst companies dealt with. Trying to place blame on tenant in the event of maintenance so the tenant would have to pay. That company was a mess. We emailed the owner to tell them the yucky practices of this company, and they emailed back saying once their contract with this company was up, they wouldn't renew. We were not the only tenants to complain to these owners about this company. We are getting ready to move into a new place soon and so far our interaction has been pleasant with management. I do hope it continues to be pleasant. In short, yes, there are good landlords, but it seems (unfortunately) that they are few and far between. 😞

So, are there any parent property management companies that are actually good or at least decent? I’m leaving one place because the management/maintenance/builders and the way they deal with issues here has been subpar, and I’m going to tour a completely different property this weekend, but noticed they are owned by the same parent company. Trying to figure out if the experience would be just as bad, or what…

I would hope there still are. I really cannot say that with a property being owned by the same parent company that it will be good management. I wish I could say that because Hooray Property Management owns eight companies, then all eight will have terrific management, but I can't. It could be that 1 out of 8 does or 2 out of 8 or 7 out of 8. But I cannot say that being owned by the same company equates excellent experience. Try Google maps and see what the average reviews are. If there are 50 reviews and 45 are positive but 5 are negative, then maybe good chances the management is truly good and there were just a handful of disgruntled tenants due to various reasons.
