Yes. I have moto G4. Same thing. Sometimes it just locks up too. I just assume it's because Dish is a literal hell hole of a company that barely understood how to even function under it's primary service (satellite) so why would they know what they are doing here.

rolandh954

DISH certainly deserves its share of brickbats for how it's managed (or mismanaged) the RW brand. That said, what you describe sounds like a phone and not a phone service issue. A Moto G4 would be 6 years old now and likely running short on storage space. Do you know how much storage space is available?

Chanook17

Sorry about the late response - I have 19.70 gigs left on my phone. Besides having to pull the sim card out and put back in to solve random sms/mms texting issues at least a few times a month I get a message "carrier turned off voice service" or something like that.

NoTimeForInfinity

I tried to buy a gig of data yesterday and it was impossible without wifi. The captcha wouldn't appear because I was out of data. This is a shitty change since Dish. Maybe the last straw. If I've paid for a year in advance how can I get a refund?

Chanook17

You should be able to hit up customer service to refund the months you don't use. I haven't tried buying extra data on my phone - usually log into website on laptop and add/pay there.

perfect_fifths

I have a moto g 2021, no issues.

Chanook17

Thanks for responding! So you haven't had to eject the sim card/restart your phone to fix weird text message issues?

perfect_fifths

No, not at all.

Chanook17

Jealous, but glad you are having a good experience. This has been weird because I've been pretty happy with Moto and RW and really I don't use my phone for anything other than text/phone/ and All Trails.

MichKatM

I actually had to do that last week will my g2021. I also had an app update and had to restart my phone several times before the app would work. Lots of slow lag times also.

rolandh954

>I have a Moto G Power 2021 and have noticed it is being really weird since Dish acquired Republic Wireless. DISH closed its acquisition of RW in May of 2021 and began making changes in December of 2021. So, how long have you been experiencing this? >Like sometime when scrolling it doesn't respond for awhile then acts like it is possessed and starts opening apps, hitting keys, then I have to shut it off and restart to fix it. This sounds like a phone issue rather than a phone service issue. u/nickie_hafflinger's suggestion would be a good place to start. Also, do you know how much storage space is available on the phone? >Also MMS messages are constantly having issues. This might be a service issue but could also be storage space related. Are you still using a legacy My Choice plan or have you moved to RW 5.0? If still on My Choice, is cell data available? Now that RW is no longer using its proprietary WiFi-first technology, MMS generally requires available cell data. >So does anyone with an iPhone on RW/Dish have problems? I have a household iPhone XR on RW. Its user reports no problems. Any iPhone capable of running the most recent version of iOS (currently iOS 16.4) is supported on RW 5.0 plans. iPhone is not supported (and does not work well) on legacy My Choice plans.

Chanook17

I moved over to the RW 5.0 and grabbed this phone back in May of 2021. These issues seem to have shown up in the last few weeks. I have about 21 gigs left for storage.

nickie_hafflinger

Have you tried booting the phone into Safe Mode to see if the problem is being caused by an ill-behaved app?

Chanook17

Yeah, did that a few times for different reasons. My phone is the only one that occasionally "ghosts" as someone on here called it. My wife's phone (same make/model/carrier) just shares issues with MMS/text messaging.

WitchTheory

This sounds like 'ghosting', it usually happens when there's a malfunction on the screen or the phone is hot. Your screen will look like a ghost is playing with it. It's not a cellular service issue, but an issue with the phone itself.

Chanook17

Good to know - this is the first Moto I have had this issue show up.

[deleted]

I have a Moto g power 2021. No issues like that. But at times, text/mms messages don't come through and calls go straight to voicemail. I usually restart the phone and then it's OK.

Chanook17

Yes. Has this been your experience before vs after Republic was acquired by Dish?

[deleted]

It's been since I changed from My Choice to the new RW 5.0 (AT&T). It was an ordeal to get it to work after I changed it over. Now it's mostly OK, but occasionally I have to reboot the phone b/c I'm not getting MMS texts and phone calls go directly to VM.

Chanook17

Thank you for posting up. Since I powered down, kicked out the sms card, things are working normal again. Not sure why now this is the solution vs during the switchover? Will keep posting up.

[deleted]

My issue just happened again today -- no signal, no calls or MMS messages. Had to restart, then it was fine. I'm thinking of moving the phone to Tello.

Chanook17

I'll check into Tello...so far I've been kicking the tires for Mint (also uses T-Mobile) and seeing what Verizon offers. Verizon was expensive back in the day so the pricing must be without extra fees. I like that at most I am spending $21 a month for service with RP/Dish.

rolandh954

Just as there are providers using T-Mobile's network, there are providers using Verizon's network. If you don't need unlimited, you might take a look at Mobi. MobileX is another option and relatively new to the market. Both Mobi and MobileX use Verizon's network. Both have pricing structures similar to RW's legacy plans but less expensive. I'll also second the shoutout for Tello if T-Mobile's network is good in your area.

TheHeavySpy

Moto G Power. Always getting complaints about my voice echoing. Anyone know how to fix that? A friend tells me she has to use earbuds when talking with me to stop the problem

[deleted]

In general, I've found that speakerphone can do that. If I hear someone echoing, I ask if they're on speaker and that usually solves it.
