I used to be like you, I would drink wine everyday. That's a slippery slope that can lead to heavy anxiety and depression. Be careful. Currently 80 days sober

mokicoo

I have no advice. But I couldn’t let your post pass me by without saying many of us are here n the same boat. You’re not alone.

magicunicornhandler

Maybe your just in a “go to a shitty job, come back to a shitty home” rut. Maybe find a local group to hang out with once a week or so. Or pick up a class at the local trade school. Find a hobby. Just do something thats not “go to work come home”

keg025

I second this. In a month and a half I'm moving to a new place that's right next to a library. I've been in a similar rut and I think I wanna take up reading again after I've settled in

magicunicornhandler

Thats awesome. My old library had a once a month group that would get the same cookbook but had to be food you dont normally eat (vegan/kosher/hallel/etc). Then they would bring it to the library to share with each other.

keg025

I used to go to a different library a lot specifically to work on whatever puzzle they had out lol I wanna go back to puzzles too since my new apartment will be bigger than my current studio shoebox

magicunicornhandler

I love doing puzzles. Putting together a 1000+ pure white puzzle is on my bucket list.

keg025

A pure white puzzle would break my brain lol I have always wanted to do a rainbow gradient one though

magicunicornhandler

Thatd be fun too.

Beneficial-Guest2105

You should at least switch to weed. No more waking up dehydrated. Or CBD, that can be just as good as both really. I feel you, I too worked on the front lines. Retail and booze leads to depression.

1tiredman

I used to smoke weed. I started getting horrible panic attacks from it so I stopped but maybe the CBD could be good

Beneficial-Guest2105

Definitely try it. I have found some really good CBD infused beverages on Amazon

Aliadream

If you live in a recreational use state, look up the strains on their website. I smoke and I can get horrible anxiety from certain types. These days the side effects are usually listed online. If it says anxiety, I skip it. Edibles hit differently too. Might be a better choice for you?

Despite being raised in a very alcoholic culture, I rarely ever drank....until I started working at a big box store. Now I'm drinking several times a week and it's either wine or mixed drinks because most days beer just won't cut it. It's not that retail sucks, it's that retail **CUSTOMERS** suck. They've been told their entire lives *"the customer is always right"* and that's given them feelings of entitlement to say and do anything they want no matter how outrageous. And oh boy, are they outrageous...I go into every single shift fearing for my physical safety, not because of all the heavy equipment we have to use, but because of the rage-filled, entitled customers who believe they are always right about everything and who react with hostility and aggression if they don't immediately get their asses kissed and their egos massaged. **Every retail establishment should be REQUIRED to provide free mental health care (including prescriptions, where necessary) to their employees.** Until the retail establishments become responsible for treating the trauma, emotional problems and PTSD caused by customers, they will never give a shit about how customers treat the employees.

Head-Engineering-847

"PTSD from customer service" is my middle name 😭😭😳😳

Outrageous_Town_6421

Same, my friend. Same. \*sigh\*

Join some sort of team or do some physical activity. Martial arts works for me.

Peach-PearLaCroix

r/stopdrinking is nice if you need it

goldieinspace

im the exact same. everyday after work. youre not alone.

CBguy1983

Trust me I was there. I drank every other night. I’ve been lonely for a while. My ex was willing to give me another chance but she wanted me to stop drinking. At that time I didn’t see an issue with my drinking. I started getting tired of checking my phone the next day for my stupidity from the previous night. I got tired of spending 30 minutes over the toilet. I found music in Tom MacDonald & Dax that helped me seeing as they both been there. Where I work I see how bad alcohol can make people spiral out of control. Now I enjoy going home watching South Park, watching YouTube, & playing wwe2K24

EvolusTheEspeon

I love me a good drink after a hard day at work, too. Just be careful with how often you're doing it. It can become a problem and start affecting your day to day mood at work pretty quickly. The compromise I've found is that now, I only drink on days I won't be working the following day. That way, at least if I push it a bit too far, it won't be affecting work the next day.

hshshebahjsna

I don’t blame you tbh but your work life isn’t the only explanation for your drinking problem.

Skittertube_Gecko

There is no future in alcohol. It used to be useful in the past, but it is a poison that harms you and those around you. Sometimes you have to be slapped in the face with truth to really see it for what it is. Once that part is realized, you can work to educate yourself and pursue something that drives your heart. This will provide enough distraction to abstain and get better at the thing you want to do.

Remarkable_Try9807

I have a cooler in my backseat. Oftentimes, I don't even wait until my shift is over to kill a can or 2

Skittertube_Gecko

Your funeral.
