I have/had one, don't know where it is probably storage, but even if it got tossed what you said it spot on. Just too painful to play the way it was setup at a table. I think I made it work out once laying down in bed, but still ouch after about 20 minutes. I ain't knocking others that want to try this thing or collect it, but to me it was nothing but painful.
It’s rare these days… I remember being able to get gameboy’s broken or dirty for like ¥100 now even completely broken and smashed up they’re over ¥3000
Idk if you’re still here but there’s one shop in Akihabara that not a lot of people go to because it’s an outlet… they stay to the touristy trap spots but that outlet has pretty good deals even now.
Yeah I’m out in Yokohama.
Not many deals out here but every now and then… I luck up. Akihabara if you know where to look though the deals are outta this world
This one was in great shape, a little smelly… had to clean it with some alcohol wipes and such and now it looks new and doesn’t smell like cigarettes anymore.
But the stands clip broke this morning 😭
The stand clips are notorious for that unfortunately. Still not sure how mine isn’t because I haven’t exactly been gentle with it over the years. As others have said though, get the screen connector ribbon looked at. It can be permanently fixed by someone whose handy with a soldering iron but Nintendo just glued those puppies down and they are designed to move and shift inside the unit, that combined with heat and time enables the glue to fail.
I think the system works, just need a game to test it with, unfortunately right now I don’t have the cash to get one, but I did find a “vertical force” game complete in box for like $8 hopefully I can get that when I get my check if it is still available
Good luck I've done 2. A lot of videos say to use an oven but I didn't want to cook the whole lens. Instead I used something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134067478145?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=U8tmElmnSBO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=JP_xrbLgQkm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
The iron method works however depending on how bad the system is to start it can last for not long at all, most permanent fix is soldering then connection, however it is pretty delicate, I would recommend paying a console repair shop or someone with a lot of knowledge to do it unless you have experience
Nice. Good thing it was ridiculously cheap as the games aren’t ;). Unique little thing, few games but almost all are quality other than virtual lab and baseball as they’re junk.
Yeah other than occasional import tax it's usually way cheaper to buy from japan for music gear.
I got an early mij Boss CE3 for about £60 plus £10 Import tax and its way cheaper than buying from a shop or seller here.
Like a lot of Japanese sellers are proxy buyers and if it's that cheap to buy from them i can't even imagine how good the deals are in person.
I've been looking at Grover Jackson and Edwards Japanese domestic market guitars lately and the prices are so good compared to western Pro/X series Jacksons and Esp/LTDs and every Japanese domestic market instrument I've played is far better than what we get here for similar prices
Fishing poles too.
Some brand I don’t know off the top of my head goes for 1K+ in the US, 75$ in store in Japan. (I never utilized this modality, but my Staff Sergeant supervisor made more than the base commander from flipping those!)
Really nice find, i tried one in Toys r us as a kid and almost immediately ended up with a migraine, still though mario tennis was fun from what I remember
Junk outlet.. sees Xbox 360s and PSX systems lol...
And finally someone that claims they got a great deal and has pictures to back up said claim...
Congrats on the nice find..
I don’t. Not until I get a game and can test the system fully. For now it’s sitting under my desk once I get a game I will update this and let people know the status of it.
Wow that’s a great deal. I only collect systems that I actually played when I was young and I played this once or twice but can’t bring myself to pay a lot of money for it.
Pick me up an MSX computer while you're at it. :)
>:) :)
Oh man what a find! Couldn't play anything on it for more than 10 minutes though lol

It works?
Powers on but no image because it won’t display anything without a game inserted I don’t have any games yet

i woud imagine most of them have only been used a handful of times because it wasnt worth the headache lol.
You lucky bastard. Local game store chain charges 250 for one of these (granted it is refurbished so its actually somewhat fair).

Your VB is a great find for sure! That’s a amazing deal on Vertical Force as well. Good luck 🤞
Yo I would love to find a deal like that! Vertical force is one of the few games for virtual boy that is actually enjoyable.
Hoping I can scoop it soon!
You can actually get a mount to use the VB with a standard tripod so unless you want the original look its not as bad as it seems.
Time to melt the glue again on the lenses. I highly recommend a patch iron
How long does that fix last?
I'm guessing another 15 years or so, it's not permanent but enough for me not to worry about an expensive permanent fix right now
Cool thanks I have 3 virtual boys and can’t use any of them. I’ll give it a shot
Good luck I've done 2. A lot of videos say to use an oven but I didn't want to cook the whole lens. Instead I used something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134067478145?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=U8tmElmnSBO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=JP_xrbLgQkm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

I dont have games to send but ill def ship some excedrin your way 😂
😂😂
nintendo was way ahead of its time.
Didn't want the Famicom disk system?
They had those loose no box for like ¥600
600 yen is less than $4.50 right now.
Tokyo is heaven without the weed!
Im a musician and a pedal collector the music shops there are a gold mine for vintage pedals, i can only imagine its the same for games
It’s incredible. I made more money from finding vintage records / CDs and flipping them on eBay than I did as a service member when I lived there.

Jelly af!
Nice. Sometimes junk sections are wild. Was it in a Hard off?
Nah it was a surugaya outlet store. Super cool spot
UPDATE: it works yall!
You need an AC adapter. Probably before games, TBH.
Got the AC adapter. Need games.
Worst Nintendo controller ever? Still jealous though
? Its the most comftorble by far to hold. If your referring to the lack of analogue sticks then maybe but it works
i hope you also went and bought a lottery ticket! that is too damn lucky!! congrats
Really nice find, i tried one in Toys r us as a kid and almost immediately ended up with a migraine, still though mario tennis was fun from what I remember
Did you by some Tylenol with it?
Well...there's 14 of them. You probably have larger collections on other platforms so suggesting games seems a little moot.
More like "Please send help"
Which outlet is that ?
Junk outlet.. sees Xbox 360s and PSX systems lol... And finally someone that claims they got a great deal and has pictures to back up said claim... Congrats on the nice find..
Those original psx’s ¥100 lol
Congrats! Now get the Wario game! It’s the only one I remember played back then lol
Gotta replace that black cloth interface, that thing looks gross!!
If you can find a copy telroboxer always looked fun to me
Found a few copies here but they’re around ¥7000+ right now. Hoping I get paid soon and I can get a game and test it out!
I’ll give you a game! Hit me up
What?! For real!
Yeah bro! I live in Los Angeles. Do live in La?
Nah I’m in Yokohama Japan.
now WATA grade it and resell for 150 k... seriously though, 'grats! enjoy it.
Next time I go to Japan I should probably check some game stores because you can get some good stuff.
How do you know the eye displays work?
I don’t. Not until I get a game and can test the system fully. For now it’s sitting under my desk once I get a game I will update this and let people know the status of it.
Score!
Looks like the one I used to rent at Blockbuster Video.
Your poor eyes
Wow that’s a great deal. I only collect systems that I actually played when I was young and I played this once or twice but can’t bring myself to pay a lot of money for it.
