I’m from Denver and I have done mostly this same trip ( although stayed closer to Oregon coast and didn’t cut down to twin falls in Idaho which I am curious why your doing) it took me 108 days. I am a super quick traveler and probably travel faster than 90% of people. I also had a couple less stops than you. While I mostly love your route and your seeing some of the coolest things in the world you won’t have enough time to enjoy if you do it in 61 days. Most people on this app travel slow in my option and I’m sire some leoooe will they you’ll need 6 months for this which isn’t true either but 61 days just isn’t enough time. I would suggest cutting off the Canada part of the trip. Just do glacier then go to Seattle. You should save 20-30 days. Then maybe cut down on a couple stops here and there (Definitely twin falls 😂)

Don’t be discouraged though if you want to do it in 61 you totally can it’s up to you and no one else. You’re seeing some of the coolest stuff in the world and this is a trip you’ll think about the rest of your life. Have fun!

Haha, thankyou! At least I've got the right locations picked. These 61 days are pretty much all the time I'll have for a very long time so I'm trying to balance doing and seeing things without rushing which is kinda the crux of many of these itinerary posts

The leg between Yellowstone and Glacier is a part I am very willing to change. My previous plan went strait up through Yellowstone and I may reimplement that one. The pace is fast I admit, definitely something to consider

At Idaho Falls, take Hwy 20/26 West through Arco, visit Craters of the Moon, then go north on Hwy 75 to Ketchum and Stanley to visit the Sawtooth Mountains, which are spectacular.

I did a 4 month solo to the lower 48 in summer 2021 and Glacier and Grand Teton were two places I talk about every single time I am asked about my trip. They are unbelievably beautiful, Glacier especially! Yellowstone on the other hand…while I know it is iconic, I found it too crowded and underwhelming compared to the other two.

Puzzleheaded-Bake-28

How long time will the trip take in Google maps. Then max 8 hours day of driving ½ - 1 day to see the sights and put a couple of days into the trip to do nothing, then enjoy the trip 😀

Phileas-Foggy

My math works out in that case. Im not driving more than 5 hr a day and taking lots if rest days

I did a similar trip last year with fewer stops and took 4.5 months. I definitely went slower than necessary (spending a full week each at Glacier and Yellowstone, for example), but I do have a few thoughts: 1. It is a lot of stops for two months but certainly doable if you’re not worried about missing stuff in the bigger parks. Or spending a lot of time hiking. 2. You can’t go all this way and skip North Cascades and Olympic National Parks unless you’ve been there before. Both are top-tier parks. 3. If you need to cut something to fit those in, I’d suggest skipping Salt Lake City area I guess? It’s tough to choose because everything is worth a visit. I can give more specifics if you’re interested. But DO NOT cut the Canadian Rockies. They are arguably the best region in the trip.

Yeah montrose, SLC, Glenwood springs, the second time up toward Moab on the way to telluride, and CO springs are all skippable and get you some extra time at the places you actually want to be at. I’d cut those and not Canada personally.

Phileas-Foggy

I lije tgis suggestion. Thanks!

brittofilter

I also second hitting up North Cascades as you are right there! Olympic is also top tier if you can make it work. I would prioritize it over Seattle personally.

Looks like an amazing trip, but I’m glad I’m not driving..

Some of that would be obnoxiously hot, especially if doing anything outdoors. But maybe you'll get lucky; it will be the monsoon in Aug in UT most likely. Be very careful that time of year though; monsoon rain is intense and can make travel on the salt flats or Moab washes or dirt impassable even with a killer 4x4. Sorry if you know this already.... Otherwise looks great. Some fudge factor for bad weather and especially for fire/smoke might be nice (I can handle any weather, but if camping or doing outside stuff smoke is a hard pass). I like the UT route through Goblin, Capitol Reef, Escalante, etc far better than down through Page, especially if it's hot, just because a nicer drive and more to do IMHO. But YMMV. I'm sure you know about needing to make some reservations some places, entry passes, etc.

Phileas-Foggy

Ah, good call with weather. Yea got reservations sorted

I’m assuming an in n out will be on the way I’d stop and eat as much as possible

WOW! Impressive trip! We're making a much less ambitious trip shortly. Could you provide the list of the stops/attractions that goes with the map? Thanks in advance.

Paria Canyon - Between St. George, UT and Page, AZ. If you want a mind blowing slot canyon to explore and want to skip the crowds of somewhere like Zion NP, this is your place! I've dropped in through both the Wirepass and Buckskin Gulch trailheads. If you're in the Escalante, UT area, a great "bang for your buck" in the way of slot canyons is about 32 miles southeast, in the general area of Lower Dry Fork Trailhead and you can stop at Devil's Garden on the way. Oh and if you're near Boulder, UT, stop and eat at Hell's Backbone Grill and Farm. Land Cruiser Heritage Museum - If it's your kinda thing, it's located at the north end of Salt Lake City. Eating while in the SLC area...Red Iguana for Mexican and Lucky 13 for burgers & drink! Stout Grove, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, Crescent City, CA - The less touristy option in the Redwoods. I would recommend not taking the route that goes directly west to east, but approaching from the east side, off US Route 199.
